The captain's eyes lit up at the sight of the confection "Me-o-my lass, did ye say you made them all by yourself ya did?"

Taking a deep sniff of the cookies Blarney rubbed his hoofs together before saying " well if ye insist, I think I could fit a few in this old sailors suit." before letting out another one of his bellowing laughs.

Swiping a cookie from the plate he was just about to take a bite when a fog horn blared.

In an annoyed to he remarked- " Fleas in me fur.. It looks like a heavy fog will be coming in soon. must mean we're getting into warmer waters. "

"Warmer waters? Will there be animals" Painter said as he was eating one of his sisters cookies thinking that if he could get some paintings of sea animals he would be able to show people in the town what their journey looked like.

Shina hung her head as Firecracker stood to leave. Her heart aching and head reeling with what was right and what she really wanted. Suddenly she jumped to her hooves as if something in her finally broke and could no longer be held back. "Wait!" She nearly shouted it with out realizing it, her gaze lifting to see he'd already stopped though.

For a moment she was silent, struggling to find what she wanted to say and fearing what it might lead to. "I've traveled through so many towns and cities, never staying more then a night or two but... Sense leaving my home land this is the first time I've found it so hard to leave a place... Or pony." Her head dropped letting her mane fall forward to hide her features as the scales on her cheeks burned a bright rose color. "I don't want to go, but I could not bear to see you or anypony hurt if I make the wrong choice..."

Letting out one of his billowing laughs, The captain said " Now ya see there. taint just the two of ye on this old tub."

She may be the last ship from the port, but she's nay a ghost ship"

Pointing towards the lower decks he added- " Scientists and and engineers, those sort of pony don't much leave their bunks

until we hit land. Tis a wee bit of the sea sickness I think. "

Turning to Wilson, he greeted " And it's good to see you up and about master Wilson. you to had a touch of the green gills Im to be understanding. "

The twins giggled thinking the same thing.Green gills. That has had to be the craziest thing they have ever heard.

-Meanwhile back on the mainlands-

The sound of Shina's voice broke Firecrackers trance like sorrow, and brought back his attention.

He could feel his heart burn in his chest with a conflicted sense of right and wrong.

He never had a sense of honor or greater good.

To him, life was about perfecting his art, and finding a meaning to it all.

But ever sense he met this strange pony, he felt like there was something more important then all of that.

Lifting his heavy head he looked into the distance as he replied - " The wrong choice..The safety of others..Or to stay.."

He then looked up to the pale moon that had already began to set.

He closed his eyes letting one more tear roll down as he continued " I don't think I could ever understand what your life has been like. In truth, I've never considered the safety of others in my life.. Maybe that's what got me exiled her in the first place."

He again opened his eyes as a cool wind blew through his mane, saying - " But I do know what it's like to be alone. I've been alone in a crowd most of my life.. that I can understand .. "

He finally turned to face her, still five paces away when he went on-" But this hurt.. This ones new to me.. I've never been good with words.. it's not my art form." he took one very deliberate step forward. " Miss Shina.. In truth, I have no idea what this phoenix is, or what it's capable of.."

Again he stepped forward-" But what I do know is.. I don't want you to leave here..No that's not it."

His gait shook with another step forward- "...I." He still faced her, but his eyes looked away in embarrassment " I don't want you to leave..me"

Taking a deep breath he stepped one more step forward, leave a single pace between them.

Fixing his gaze back on her, his eyes began to show a spark of determination " Give me a chance. I don't know much about this Phoenix, but I do know some about the ancient spells involving fire magics. "

The spark in his eyes began to burn brighter as the wind began to blow stronger, sending leaves to dance around them.

He was almost heroic in nature as he went on- "Give me three days. That's all I ask. and if I can't find a solution.."

As he hesitated his bravado changed to a somber pledge when he finished with- " Then I'll go with you."

Leaning in to try and peer at her hidden features, he pleaded in a soft voice - " ...Please? "

Indicus finished working on his armor and was left with noting more to occupy his time but at the same time he could not bring himself to sleep quite yet. So Indicus decided to head for the beach to try and relax. Charging magic in his horn he cast a shadow walking spell and left the garden house avoiding contact with the others. He did reach the beach and spotted a small hill with the moon over watching it, smiling he went there and released the magic keeping the spell together returning him to his normal form.

Indicus watched the tides of the sea crash on the shore and even spotted a ship coming towards the island, "Why are ponies arriving this late?" Indicus dismissed the question just wanting to enjoy the view of the stars and moon.

For a moment Shina kept her head hung as she considered Firecracker's offer. Even if he managed to find nothing to contain Konton and she allowed Firecracker to leave with her, simply being with her was enough to endanger him. Was it really worth the risk? Could she protect him if Konton escaped her? As the different scenario whirled through her head she lifted one of her forelegs to wipe a few tears from her eyes before she dared to lift her head again. A few red strands of her mane were still hanging across her fuchsia eyes as she dared to look up at Firecracker again. Her hooves moved almost timidly, as if afraid of getting too close as she took the last step to close the distance between them. Her head moved along side his to nuzzle softly against his cheek when she finally found an answer. "Hai." She replied softly in her native tongue, though a different language she'd discovered the word sounded close enough to 'aye' that most ponies from the west seemed to understand it meant 'yes.'

-Aboard the SS Starlight-

The captain simply laughed at the absurdity of the question before changing the subject " At any rate, ports about two kilometers out. We wont be docking until dawn but you lads are welcome to get a good look at the shore line. I here there's a lovely estate home that over looks the sea.

Belongs to Lady Steelheart it does. Rumor has it she a very important Flutter pony. "

As he began to head back to his quarters the captain gave one final bit of advice.- " Bit of warning to ye fine young'ns.. Don't be looking to long at the moon. Old Flutter tales say that when she's full like this strange things can happen."

Letting out his familiar laugh he headed down the stares to his room.

-Along the shores of equinox-

As Indicus stood peacefully by the rhythmic waves a heavy fog began to roll in rapidly.

Within the fog, a silhouette of a pony on the water could be seen.

As it slowly walked towards Indicus, it seemed to be unaffected by the waves.

Seemingly gliding towards him, it became clear that it was a long maned Pegasus that was approaching.

Suddenly, the shadow vanished, and a voice could be heard from behind him saying -" My my.. Another intriguing creature of the night comes to my little island. So quickly the plague spreads."

-Back in the fountain area-

Relinquishing his inhibitions, Firecracker Closed his eyes and Softly caressed his cheek against hers.

Their long hair entwining together, their fates beginning to tie, all he could manage to say was a soft- "..Thank you "

His heart ache was quickly replaced with a unrelenting desire to succeed.

He felt like he was given one final chance to do something important with his life; and a final chance to be with Shina.

It was then a faint sniffle could be heard from the door to estate house.

The door was slightly ajar and a pink nose could be seen poking out of the crack.

It seems a particular flutter pony had been ease dropping.

As he pulled back a half step a single hair remained tied as he looked at Shina.

Eyes burning with determination, he assured her- " Don't worry, I will find a way.. I promise."

With that, He turned and was off.

His mission clear, he started off for his house to get to work.

And with a sudden "Waaaah" Steelheart began to weep at the situation, revealing herself.

Indicus did not bother turning around to face the long maned Pegasus but continued to look towards the sea as the air blew through his mane and tail, how ever he did acknowledge them. "It is obvious that you are a spirit and here for a reason, that or you have abilities far superior to most pegasi, both equally possible." Indicus turns to the source of the voice, "But that dose not matter what matters is that you are here for a reason, one I'm curious about." Indicus knew he could have said that much simpler but the current atmosphere relaxed him and seemed to encourage semi philosophical slash cryptic answers that and it felt oddly fitting.

The Pegasus simply blinked in surprise before answering- "My and aren't we an astute one. It seems you are wiser then most of the rabble wondering around here. The bat pony are such fascinating creatures. "

Her eyes began to glow a deep amber color as she continued- " My reason for being here.. Now that is a very good question child "

Her voice and appearance seemed like she was barely an adult pony but she spoke to Indicus like she was an elderly mare.

" Sense you are so curious, I will answer your question"

As a passing fog shrouded her, her silhouette was that of a great dragon many times her size.

From the fog, a different, much darker voice could be heard saying - " I am simply here to observe the exploitation of this island"

As the large drift of fog passed from her, her voice and shape was back to normal as she finished- " And pass judgement on the pony there in. "

Indicus saw the silhouette of a great dragon in the fog as she spoke 'so this is the dragon we saw earlier.' "I see, as one of the ones being judged I will hope the judgement is fair and swift. I know little of the island before our arrival or your involvement in it so that is the most I can hope for." Indicus said simply accepting that the spirit had it's own reasons on why it wished to pass judgement.

The Pegasus nodded with a pleased smile saying - "And so obedient to. This one must have been trained well. "

Seeming to float around him rather then fly normally she encircled Indicus.

Suddenly coming to a stop right behind him, she whispered - "Sense you've been such a good little pony, I'll tell your fortune."

Whipping back around in front of him, here eyes a blur of beaming amber light as she spoke with a heavy echo- " Your past is one of tragedy.. But tragedy is the crucible that forges strong hearts. You will need this strength of heart to face the conflict ahead of you.

For it will fall to you to protect one of the elements of redemption.

Should you falter the Flutter pony will suffer"

And with a sudden and sharp crack of thunder she was gone.

Only a faint laughter on the wind and her cryptic warning remained.

The Pegasus's words echoed in his mind like so many drums even after she left. He thought about the cryptic warning, he easily figured out what the the tragedy referred to and the last sentence was clear and foreboding but it was the middle lines that he had no context for but he had a feeling would show themselves in time. Whatever was coming was not going to be good that he did know.

Indicus spent awhile longer looking out to sea before using the shadows to teleport in front of the garden house and entering, the new information giving him much to think about and tiring him all the same.

Shina suddenly felt somehow lighter, as if a great weight had been taken off her. A smile lingered on her lips at his decloration to find a solution. As Firecracker left though she still felt a small hint of fear, still worried that she might be leading him to his doom. Still though, she felt some comfort in knowing at the very least she wouldn't have to be alone anymore. A sudden cry drew Shina from her thoughts. Whipping around quickly she glanced toward the cracked door. That smile lingered on her lips as she gave light shake of her head as she walked over to push the door open a bit further. "There's no need to cry..." She said softly offering Steelheart a smile, even if she couldn't see it.

Steelheart jumped slightly when she found out she had been caught spying.

Taking a moment to wipe her eyes she apologised -" I'm sorry. I just heard voices and. *sniffle* it's just so sad. I don't know what's going on but. I think whoever that pony was, he really liked you. " taking a small handkerchief, she blew her nose and went on saying- " was he your colt-friend?"

It was starting to become painfully clear that she wasn't fully aware the situation. To her it was something like a brake up.

Perhaps it was for the best that she didn't know the details.

On the other side of town, Firecracker raced towards his house so he could get his hooves on his satchel of books and start trying to solve the phoenix problem. Unfortunately for him, as he reached his door the sun began to creep over the tree line.

He let out a frustrated groan as he knew that he would have to get right to work on today's celebration.

No time to work on a plan, and no time for sleep.

As the very first rays of light hit that side of the island, another pony was also awake.

Mayor Catchpenny anxiously rubbed his hooves together muttering to himself

"today is my big day"

In the old chapel, the thick mist from before appeared once again. After a moment Fang emerged, studying her surroundings. Her cloak was once again draped over her form, but the hood was pulled back. It seemed the first thing she should take care of was find this Flutter pony...
