Mission 04: Waaagh! Bonebreaka [One Man Army]

"Understood, Brother Kletian! I will do my best!" Tarlocke replied, as he sped down the hill and drew ever nearer to the shield...

Kletian skidded his bike to a halt in front of the single door to the generators bastion. A well aimed krak grenade opened it up.

"Go, Brother! I will hold them here!" Kletian turned his twin-linked bolter on the oncoming horde.

Tarlocke broke through, and readied his grenade launcher as the bike plowed through the billowing smoke left behind by his Battle Brother's grenade. When the mechanisms came in view, he lowered the barrel, took aim, squeezed the trigger, and...

The mechanism was a jumble of wires and beams, somehow capable of controlling the void shiekds. at this range it was impossibke to miss, and all it took was two grenades to end the orky mechanism.

Boom. Boom. Tarlocke took a grim pleasure in seeing the ork construct come crashing down around him. He turned the bike around with a hard yank and span around to make his escape. "It is done! Let us join our Brothers!"

"Quickly, then! The orks are closing, and our chance fair better with Kalix and Angleus!" Kletian revved his bike and led the way.

OOC- if there is anything you want to add, otherwise I will get up the next post in a while

Your bikes enable you to cover distance quickly, and your helmet displays indicate the location of other members of the kill-team. With no thought to stealth or secrecy, you and Kletian roar towards Kalix's location.

You make visual contact about 500m away. Kalix is on a small rise that has what looks like a small imperial bunker on it. He is duelling a massive ork with hus powersword and a combat shield. His thunderhammer is maglocked on hus back. Angleus lies on the hround nearby. Hus vital readings on your heads up display indicate he is alive.

There are about a thousand orks surrounding the rise, cheering and hooting. They havent heard you over themselves yet.

"Well brother, how do we do this?" Kletian asked.

Kletian began to reload his launcher with frag missiles. "Grab all the frag grenades you can hold! I will soften them with a few of these. I will have three shots, then we rush them. Bolters and grenades to cut our way to Brother-Champion Mortus. When we get there we will use the bikes as a barricade." While he talked he worked.

"Ready?"

Catching onto Kletian's meaning, Tarlocke readied his equipment, as well. Reloaded grenade launcher and bolter, if necessary, and checked the bike's bolters. "Three shots, rush with grenades and bolters, bikes as barricades," Tarlocke echoed. "I'm ready."

Kletian nodded. He sighted down the rocket launcher, though he wasn't terribly careful. At this range it would be impossible to miss a horde that size. He fired.

As the first rocket exploded, the second one fired. By the time the third rocket fired the front of the horde was turning towards them.

Kletian let loose, his bike roaring forward. "For the Emperor!" He bellowed, his twin bolters spewing shells into the horde.

Tarlocke followed through by unleashing a barrage of Full Auto Fire from the twin bolters.

( I assumed I got at least two hits - at least my math says so. )

OOC- Given the size of the horde you hit with everything. But because of the size of the horde lets just roleplay this through til the warboss, at which point rolling will resume.

A note- bolters do semi-auto not full auto, even on a bike.

Also, if we can wrap this up, I hope to start the co-op mission by Friday. You will need to go to dwkm.forumotion.com and register. Its a private forum. On that forum I go by GoldenThrone. I will take care of moving Tarlockes character info over.

IC- The bikes roared, the noise of their engines minhling with the thunder of their bolters in a cacophony of rage and death. Kletian focussed on shooting forward and a little to the left and trusted Tarlocke, who was to his right, to cover the opposite side.

The orks were densely packed, and the fury of the bolters couldnt clear them out fast enough. If the bikes got bogged down in the sea of orks, the marines riding them would stand no chance against the horde...

Tarlocke squeezed the triggers of the twin-linked bolters, unleashing burst after burst of fire. Covering the right side, he plowed down ork after ork, and did his best to thunder through them whenever they blocked his path. "Press on!" he bellowed.

Kletian gritted his teeth as the mob pressed closer. Thankful that his pistols were better close up, the devastator found he could almost touch the orks he was shooting now.

And then with a thud he ran over the first ork his bolters couldn't gun down in time. The horde pressed ever closer....

They would never make it to Kalix...

OOC- roll perception

A dull roaring, muted some by distance, draws your eyes upwards. You see a half dozen points of light, trailing streamers of smoke, descending towards you, moving ecceptionally rapidly. They are going to land in your immediate area.

Tarlocke kept his eyes on the incoming lights. "We have company in the skies, Brother!" he said over the Vox, while still firing at the steadily encroaching orks.

OOC- going to wrap soon. THe game that you will be temporarily joining is coming to a close on this mission as well (their drop pods were just sighted too), so we should be getting close to confluence. Apologies if it seemed rushed at the end; also, despite it length I won't be issuing an exp penalty for this one. Both you and the other player will start on par exp wise, so as to be on equal footing.

IC-

Kletian risked a glance upward. "Drop pods!" he exclaimed.

Then he got bogged down in the horde. His bike was toppled and he got buried in the masses...

"KLETIAN!" Tarlocke bellowed, as he throttled the accelerator of his bike and ploughed into the orks. But to no avail. The orks threw themselves at him, choppas flailing, until his own bike swayed dangerously before overturning. He plunged into the green tide...

The orks leaping on top of you obscure the sun, but they are so densely packed that their primitive weapons cant hurt you because there is no room to swing. Pistols go off in the pile, and you are aware that they hit other orks as often as they hit you. Little damage us done, but you cant break free.

Then the ground reverberates with the impact of a nearby drop pod, and seconds later the mass of orks above you is screaming and writhing, and suddenly, between charred corpses, you can see sunlight.

Tarlocke reached up with his massive fists, pushing and shoving to dig himself out of the pile of orc carcasses. "Kletian!" he barked over the Vox, while letting the suit's speakers transmit it outside, as well. "Where are you, Kletian?!"

"Here," Klerian groaned, pushing a charred ork off himself. All around green armoured space marines marched with bolter and flamer. The fighting was fierce, but the orcs were being forced back before the constant wall of flames.

Kletian examined his armour, which was heavily damaged from his time in the press or orks. Groaning again, he sat up, kicked another ork body away, and heaved himself to his feet. "Are you harmed?" he asked Tarlocke.

Tarlocke shook his head. "I am not. Who are these Brothers - do you recognize their sigils?" the Novamarine looked around, trying to catch a glimpse of any identifying sign.

"Salamanders," Kletian said, pointing out the stylized lizard head on a near by drop pod.

"We should link up with the rest of the team." Kletian startd walking towards the mound, limping.

"Aye, let's," said Tarlocke, and followed the other. As he walked, he'd go through his bolter and other equipment to inspect them for damage. "The Emperor was with us," he remarked.
