Mission 04: Waaagh! Bonebreaka [One Man Army]

As the bolters unjam, Krieg launches a ferocious counter atrack against the orks, felling three.

Tarlockes action.

Tarlocke squeezes the trigger once again, attempting to unload the appropriate amount of FULL AUTO FIRE that he had originally intended to deliver.

Orks withered under Tarlocke's hail of bolter fire, exploding around Krieg, who fought with chainsword like a demon, spraying ichor around, coating the trees.

"WAAAAGGHHHH!" The war-cry exploded out in a quiet moment. Four massive shapes crashed through the thin trees. Each stood nine feet tall, wider than a space marine, and wearing armour that made space marine power armour look like a childs costume. "Get da humies!" The lead one bellowed, brandishing a massive powered claw.

Krieg summed up the situation quickly. "Brother Tarlocke, go!" He said over the vox. "I cannot get to my bike and escape. You must carry the orders to the kill team as fast as you can! I will buy you time!"

OOC- Krieg burns all fate points so he can be awesome right before he dies.

IC- Pistol out, chainsword revving, Krieg leapt into action. He shot an ork in the gut, doubling the xenos over. Kicking up a foot, Krieg stepped on the orks back and launched himself into the air at the larger four orks. His pistol mag-locked back to his leg in mid-leap and he drew a krak grenade in his left hand, arming it in his fist.

He landed on the front of the lead ork, jamming his left arm right down the orks open mouth. The xenos beast clamped his jaws closed and Krieg gasped as sparks sprayed from his arm. With a grunt, a gasp, and a huge heavy. Krieg kicked off the front of the ork, spurting blood and jumping back. He landed, but his forearm stayed in the orks mouth. The grenade detonated in the orks gullet, and the beast collapsed, sputtering blood out of its mouth and nose. With three big orks left, Krieg switched his sword for his pistol and shot the next beast in the face, blowing flesh off the bestial skull, but not slowing the monster, who charged forward, headbutting Krieg and knocking him to the ground. With a massive booted foot, the xenos beast began to crush Krieg.

The maglocked chainsword leapt to Krieg's hand, and Krieg forced it up into the beasts groin, stabbing and slicing upward until, with a jump the blade went through the armour. Krieg pushed harder, shoving the blade through the orks leg, toppling the beast. Breathing heavily, Krieg pulled himself to his feet.

"Brother, when you find the kill team, come back for my gene-seed..." Chainsword roaring, Krieg went back at the last two orks.

At the end, his body was found broken in between the last two orks. His sword was embedded in ones head, cloven down to the jaws. The other was covered in burns and frag marks, as though he had been the target of multiple grenades...

Tarlockes action. I suggest you leave Krieg to his end and get the heck out of there.

"Brother Tarlocke, go!" says the voice over the Vox. Tarlocke watches, paralyzed. "I cannot get to my bike and escape. You must carry the orders to the Kill-Team as fast as you can! I will buy you time!"

Tarlocke steers his bike around after the barrage. The Novamarines are a Chapter of the Emperor's Space Marines blessed with particular hatred for the xeno. This may have been why turning his back on a Brother felt even more like treachery then it would have under other circumstances. This sense of betrayal and already growing grief seethes through his body, turning his veins into tongues of flame stinging throughout his body. But he steers the bike away, lowering the throttle down to its bottom point, letting his warrior's instincts control his actions whilst his emotions are otherwise disposed. He thunders away from the massacre, in the knowledge that he will return. And when he does, his vengeance will be the very epitome of terror. He leaves his Brother behind knowing that though he now feels burning hatred tearing at his insides, he will find purpose in his Brother's death. And with this purpose, he can reforge this hatred into something colder. Something far stronger than hate: Justice.

It isn't long before you make out an obnoxious noise. It sounds like the demented child of an imperial valkyrie with some type of civilian rotor bladed craft. It makes a horrendous, throbbing whine. It is somewhere above and behind you, and it is catching up.

You are not far from the kill teams last known location, but the area is free of trees...

You enter a large clearing, the sound of pursuing vehicles getting louder. Whatever ramshackle craft the orks have created, they are fast. And they are opening fire!

Make a drive check to dodge the shots.

A hail of shots erupt around you, and the few that hit dont do sufficient damage to do more than scratch the heavy ceramite of your armour.

Only a short distance now; you could risk checking range to this new threat, in order to hit it with your grenade launcher. Or you can focus on getting to the kill team.

The shot would be difficult, but it is possible. The closer vehicle is aboit 40 m away, the others further (you see three in total).

OOC- Their speed, your speed will give -40. Their size will give +10.

Tarlocke opts for caution in favour of the chance of destroying the vehicle. He goes full speed ahead, attempting to reach the Kill-Team in time.

With expert handling your weave through the sparse trees until you suddenly burst into a large clear area at the foot of a mountain. The forested area is behind you, and you are certain the orks have a clear shot at you now.

Then you hear the unmistakable whine and roar of a jump pack. A figure in deathwatch black leaps into the air brandishing a thunderhammer. He is followed by first one, then a second stream of smoke, both of which overtake him, detonating on the kopters. Two go down.

The figure hits the third on mid air with a massive hammer blow, shattering it.

"Hail, Brothers!" Tarlocke calls out to the black figures, bringing his bike to a halt and raising a fist in greeting. "It is good to see you!"

"Well met, brother, the thunderhammer carrying marine answers. "I am brother champion Kalix Mortus. Quickly, we must vacate before more greenskins show up."

"Lead the way, Brother Mortus! I will follow you," replies the Kill-Marine, firing up the engine of the bike again and getting ready to hit the road again.

You follow the kill-team up the mountain to a cave. The path is easy enough for you to traverse on your bike. Arriving inside you find a spartan camp.

"Ferian, watch the ascent," Kalix orders. The tactical marine in the group, a Fire Hawk, complies.

Kalix turns on you. "You are here for a reason. What is it?"

"Watch-Captain Kasblane ordered me here. He has installed orders in my mind for you. He informed me that you would know how to retrieve them," replies Tarlocke, making to remove his helmet.

"Very good then. Brither Matraen," kalix indicates a marine with a Blood Angles insignia, "retrieve the orders if you will."

Matraen approaches and slowly you feel him stripping away the layers of memory until he finds what he is looking for. He unfolds to you the orders packet.

Imperial guard regiments will be making planetfall in two days. Before that happens the void shields must be down.

Other mission particular objectives are: kill the ork warboss, and kill their psyker.

It is up to you to relay the objectives. Matraen can open them to you but he cant discern them himself.

Tarlocke feels the intrusion into his mind, but rather than steeling himself against it, as his instincts might tell him to, he remembers his training and allows the man to go about his business. Finally, with the memories unravelled, he nods.

"Our orders are to bring down the void shields and slay the ork warboss and psyker before the Imperial Guards make planetfall in two days."

"Very good," kalix replies. "We will have to divide and conquer. When we move on one target, the orks will clump to it, looking for a fight.

"Metraen and Ferian will eliminate the psyker. Myself and Angleus will attack the warboss. Tarlocke and Kletian," thats the Devastator marine, "will eliminate the void shield, and then join us at the warboss."

Tarlocke looks to Kletian, and gives him a curt nod. "As you wish, Brother Champion," he replies to Kalix. "Be safe."

OOC- Apologies for the delay. Dealing with some heavy stuff right now IRL.

IC- Given the time frame of two days, Kalix elects to stage the attacks a mere handful of hours before the landing. The nect day is spent in preparation for the operation.

OOC- At this time you have an opportunity to ask the apothecary to go with you to retrieve Kriegs gene-seed

IC- You participate in two scouting missions, enough to familiarize yourself with the lay of the land
