Fandom Mischief Managed

Cailen tilted his head slightly, picking up on her concern. He'd never met anyone who was scared of water or boats before.

"Is it the boats or the water?" He asked curiously. "The boats are enchanted, so they're safe."

Wren frowned, shaking her head, "Your pick, really. I'm not so much a fan of either of them. I can't swim and I've never met a boat I got on with, terribly well. Don't know why I figured we'd just get dropped right off at the front door."

Chewing on her lip, she looked out the windows again, "At least they seem to keep thing interesting, at any rate. Never took a boat to school before. Usually it was just walking... or a bus."

There had been an awkward silence in their compartment. June frowned slightly as Victoria had shook her head at the candy-lady, and Fleur remained silent. The candy-lady had looked at them strangely, before giving a small smile and sliding the door closed to the compartment again.

Well then. She wasn't going to make small-talk anymore. Her black cat crawled onto her lap, and she petted him affectionately, thanking him for the distraction. Looking out the window, she sighed. This train ride took forever.

Global announcement

The sun was low on the horizon as the train pulled to a stop at the Hogsmeade Station, the whistle sounded and a woman outside called for the students to depart and come stand in front of her. Once they were all off the train, they followed the woman through the town to the shores of the Black Lake where countless boats were waiting. The sun began to set as the boats crossed the calm waters of the lake, casting Hogwarts in a deep silhouette. The boats landed on the island shore, the students departed and the woman led the large group up towards the castle that would be their home.

( @VolcanicMagma Feel free to move it along and drag my character if I don't reply in time. I'm just... wiped out.)

Victoria remained silent and avoided eye contact with anyone nearby, hoping that nobody would question her about the explosion the train earlier that day. There were a few glares when someone noticed her singed hair and some ash on her cheeks. Since she was attempting to avoid confrontation with other students, she didn't see the castle overhead, only the dirt path leading towards it. Victoria was afraid conversation was going to break out at any moment and so she mapped out a little escape route in her mind. Duck down and stand somewhere else, nobody will notice.

'That was strangely quick.' Rowan thought, finding himself walking to a lake and riding on of the boats. 'But everything's strange when it comes to Hogwarts.'

As they abruptly landed on the shore, Rowan was peering closely near the edge of the boat and stumbled out onto the land. Shaking his head in surprise, he took a stable breath and sheepishly grinned at some of the students. She saw a girl with slightly tinged hair and ash on her cheeks. Nobody seemed to be near her or Rowan took a chance to talk to her.

As the ginger neared the girl, he felt strong vibes of 'Don't talk to me.' Rowan bit his lip, preventing him from talking and just walked silently besides the girl, his gaze wondering all over the place.

Victoria was nervous she didn't want to be noticed more than anything. The commotion on the train was a big enough embarassment, let alone when she nearly fell off the boat because someone had attempted to speak to her. After realizing the horde of students to her left were growing a bit too close for comfortn, Victoria immeditately took a step to the right, bumping into Rowan and falling on her hands and knees.

@VolcanicMagma

As his eyes wandered to the huge Hogwarts building, he felt someone bump into hum and a figure falling onto the floor. Rowan shrieked and jumped backwards to see the girl who had strong anti-social vibes on her hands and knees. Slowly realising what just had happened, the ginger awkwardly ran to her side.

"Y-you alright, there!?"

@TheLunchboxx

Meredith hadn't particularly enjoyed the boat, but Hazel had. The cat had demanded to be put in the water, and eventually Meredith had complied, letting the cat swim beside the boat. Afterwards, the kitten had returned to her place in Meredith's scarf. Meredith walked at the edge of the group, away from people, until she saw a girl fall. She walked over to her slowly, touching her shoulder lightly. She spoke very quietly, hesitently.

"Are you okay...?"

When the train at last came to a halt, Wren was more nervous than she had been getting on board. It was partially due to the boats, certainly, but the majority of it, if she were honest, was the unknown aspects. She was on her way to what was, essentially, an entirely new world and she wasn't nearly prepared for what she might find there. But she was excited, as well, and the closer they got to the magnificent castle she could see, perched against the darkening sky, that one emotion began to overrule her nerves, succinctly.

She had managed to get a boat with Cailen which she was glad for, but she couldn't speak, for fear of jinxing the journey. When they at last arrived on the shore, However, she turned to the boy beside her and grinned, brilliantly.

"...This is it... this is actually happening!"

Victoria froze, she had made human contact, she didn't know what to do. Was she supposed to say she was okay or remain silent? Run or stand up and go on her way? There were too many possibilities and actions she could consider it was overloading her mind. Panicking she stood up and took a deep breath and tried to speak. All that came out was a nervous squeak and her face grew red.

@VolcanicMagma @Meredith

Meredith mouth opened, the closed again. What the hell did I do, why's she looking at me like that...?

"...I..." She said quietly, more hesitent to speak now that the girl had a wild, frightened look in her eye. "...I'm not... going to hurt you, you know."

(( @Elle Joyner ))

"I know, it is!" He grinned back at her with unbound excitement. "I'm so excited, it's going to be awesome! Look how big this place is."

He knew at that point... he was going to get lost at least a dozen times. All probably in the first day. As the group walked, the castle got closer and soon they were making their way through the courtyard.

"Sorting ceremony should be next." Cailen hopped a little in excitement as he walked. "Oh, I hope I get put into a cool house!"

Wren chuckled and nodded, "At least you and I can get lost together. And who knows... maybe we'll get lucky and they'll give everyone a map, first thing, so we know where we're going! OR maybe it'll be... magical, and we won't even be able to get lost. Oh gosh... that's ridiculous."

Looking around, her heart pounded heady against her chest and she could feel her nerves returning. It was exciting and frightening all at the same time, but she was thrilled... beyond thrilled, really.

"I just hope I get in, at all... I don't care what house I'm put in."

Not gaining another reaction, Meredith turned around, hurrying away. She found herself at the head of the pack, and she heard exited muttering, about the houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin... She didn't really know what to expect, though she had read about the houses. ...where do I fit...? She questioned to herself, a small frown upon her face.
