Quickly returning back to his seat, he tried to balance the chocolate frog on his head so it wouldn't fall onto the floor or anyone else. After he sat down he looked dumbly at Meredith. Enchanted frogs, of course there would be enchanted frogs as candies.

"Yeah...but are they real frogs just dipped and covered in chocolate? Or like Freddo frogs?" Rowan asked her, picking off the chocolate frog that was now still from his hair. His ginger hair was now dirtied brown, but he didn't mind.

Amber spat out the bean that fell on the floor and let out a sickening mewl.

@Meredith

"Well... I'm assuming they're like Freddo frogs. I guess you'll only know if you take a bite." She shrugged, looking to the cats. Hazel picked up the bean that Amber had spit out, chewing it, swallowing about half of it and choking the other half up onto the floor. She yowled at Rowan angrily. Meredith scolded her, and Hazel lasped into a moody silence. "Let me know if you end up with a mouthfull of amphibian, will you?"

The cat let out a small meow of approval as Fleur continued to pet her. "She's so cute.. The both of them are." Fleur told the girl, smiling at the cat. After a few moments of silence, the girl started up a small conversation. "I'm June Walkers." She finally said, as Fleur looked up to her.

Fleur was about to respond when an explosion hit the Hogwarts Express. She pulled her knees to her chest and held Flora in her hands. She was both scared and confused. The bright light was terrible and the heat that came with it unbearable. It died down after what seemed like hours and then train began fixing itself. Flora kept shaking in her hands, obviously scared by the sudden attack, if it was an attack. Fleur wanted to see if June was alright, but was interrupted when a girl entered the compartment, leaving the door open enough to let one of the cats out. She knew this was where the spell came from, her charred clothes a dead giveaway.

Then a teacher came in not long after she did. How she knew her name was a mystery, let alone everyone else's. 'So her name's Victoria huh..' Fleur thought to herself, looking at the teacher and back to Victoria. The scolding she received was a harsh one, making Victoria cry as the teacher left. She then began taking a few articles of clothing and walked or more like stumbled out the door. Fleur had already been sitting back in her chair when she came back, her clothes clean and fresh although her hair a frizzy mess.

Fleur looked to her and smiled back. "I'm Fleur Auror, and this is Flora." She said, motioning to Flora who was eating some seeds beside her. "And she's June Walker." She added, gesturing to June who was seated in front of her.

"I hope that's not normal." Lowell looked from the frog to Rowen. The conversation about cats made him uncomfortable and he welcomed the change of topic. His hamster had huddled down in the plastic ball, also aware of the presence of felines. "What if they're sentient?" Lowell asked as he watched the frog. "Maybe it knows you're about to eat it?" It wasn't something anyone could prove but Lowell suddenly knew he wouldn't eat any.

Lowell studied Rowan with raised eyebrows. "Magic is weird."

Rowan looked at them both with fear in his brown eyes. He gulped and took a bite out of the chocolate frog.

"Woah! It is like a freddo frog!" Rowan said, relieved. His lips were lightly covered with chocolate now.

He continued to devour it until a card nearly choked him. the ginger gasped and spat out the card, accidentally on the other male's lap. Looking at the other boy he nervously grinned and shrugged in apology.

"Erm, sorry 'bout that..you can have some of the beans I got to make up for it." Rowan said half-heartedly as he stared down at the card on the boy's lap.

@Cross_Rhodes @Meredith

It took a moment for Lowell to comprehend what just happened. He picked up the card, his fingers skimming some of the chocolate. "That's kind of cool. There's a guy on here." He said and flipped the card for Rowan and Meredith and the other girl to see. Lowell skimmed the limited recesses of the famous wizards he knew. "It's that famous guy." He had no talent for remembering names.

He handed to Rowan if he would take it and turned his attention briefly to the beans. "How do they taste?"

June merely looked up again as the girl came back, wearing her clothes. She probably wouldn't ask to get the clothes back, she had enough to begin with. Fleur introduced them to her, and June felt no need to add anything.

The train had finally started moving, sending them on their way. There was a lot of commotion on the train, the other compartments seemed to have their fun.

Suddenly the door to their compartment opened and a lady with a cart filled with candy came in. "Hello, my sweet girls! Would you care for anything? I have about everything, you could ever dream of!"

June looked at her and then to the cart. She had heard of magical candy before, but had never tried it. A part of her wanted to try some, but she could immediately hear her father's voice in her head. Don't be a child. She shook her head gently and gave the lady a smile. "No thanks, I'm good... How about you guys?" She directed at the two other girls, sharing her compartment. Maybe she could see how it was like, if they bought something.

@iLoriel2

Meredith looked at the Chocolate Frog card.

"You mean Harry Potter? The wizard who defeated Voldemort? Erm... He who must not be named? I think most people call him that if they talk about him. Harry Potter, the Auror, the Boy who Lived?" Meredith closed her mouth, realizing that it was likely that no-one knew what she was talking about. "Never mind." She mumbled softly. She looked to the boy's hamster, smiling at the small animal. "Hazel doesn't have a prey drive at all, I don't know about Amber. But Hazel wouldn't hurt him, if you want to let him out of that cramped thing, the poor baby..." Her voice was charecteristically quiet.

Lowell flushed but he realized the girl was just stating the obvious. The photo clearly showed the famous lightning scar, but The Boy Who Lived looked different as an older wizard than he had as a student. "Sorry. I wasn't really paying attention I guess." Lowell said. He ran a hand through his dark hair.

Lowell smiled at Meredith. He liked people who cared about animals on principal. Some of the tension drained from his shoulders. Maybe school away from home wouldn't be too unbearable. "This is Fang. A hamster's a weird familiar but I didn't pick him out myself." Lowell put the hamster ball on the ground.

Fang rolled toward Meredith. "I don't take him out because but he bites." Lowell explained. And winced from the memory.

Rowan took the card as he licked his chocolate-coated fingers while listening to what Meredith just said.

"Oh I've 'eard of Potter. He's powerful, gosh. But I think he retired or something." Rowan said as he was scanning the card and gasping as it moved.

Jerking his upwards a bit to Lowell, he picked a yellow coloured bean and offered it to him.

"Dunno. Haven't tried one yet, but you can try it first."

Amber was purring against Meredith's leg, ignoring everyone else, especially Rowan. The feline let out a small cough before resuming what she was doing.

@Cross_Rhodes @Meredith

Meredith smiled at Amber, idly moving her right hand to pet her, she touched her fingers to the opening in the hamster ball, opening it.

"Hope you don't mind. It's fine if he bites me." She moved the hamster to her lap, petting him gently as well, she looked up at the others in the compartment. She leaned back in her seat, looking out the window to the British countryside. She ignored the happenings in the compartment until Hazel clamboured into her lap, curling protectively around the hamster. Meredith sighed and petted them both, continuing to look out the window.

Victoria remained silent, she had spoken more than usual and that lecture earlier did not boost her confidence. She had hoped that maybe some of the other first years would enjoy her presence and skills in magic. Of course before leaving Diagon Alley Refia practiced quite a few spells, however none of them were even remotely dangerous and granted a good portion of them fizzed in front of her. All the talking around her turned to murmuring and then faded from her ears. She didn't want to interact, all Victoria wanted to do was hide.

She didn't hear the question asked, all Victoria did was shake her head.

Horror struck Wren at Calien's response, and she felt goose pimples rise on the back of her neck as she straightened upright, "I... I don't know who that is, either..."

What if there was a test? What if in order to get sorted into a house, you had to take a quiz on popular and famous wizards and witches, and she failed, miserably. She knew... Glinda from the Wizard of OZ... but was she real? No... that was stupid. Her Grandmother had probably been a witch, but she wasn't exactly common knowledge, or at least not that Wren knew of. But then, what did she know? Maybe her Grandmother was one of the most famous witches in the history of the wizarding world, and she was completely and utterly oblivious to it.

Worse, yet. What if the Wizard of Oz was based on real life experiences??

"Oh geez... I might be sick." Burying her head in her hands, she shook her head, "I am going to be the worst witch, ever."

"So, uh I guess... if you don't even know Harry Potter... does that mean you're Muggleborn? Born to non-magic parents?" Either that, or her family lived under a rock. "If you are, there's no reason to worry, there have been some really powerful Muggle-born witches and wizards! 'Pure blood' means nothing when it comes to skill." The bit about pure bloods was a direct quote from his mother, she used to remind him of that any time he'd come home in tears from being teased.

There was that word again. Muggle... It was going to take some getting used to, for sure. But Cail's words were encouraging and she managed to smile a little, sitting upright again.

"You... you're sure? I'm just so afraid I'm gonna be awful, and get sent home or put in a dungeon or something. Mum keeps saying it's not possible to die from embarrassment, but I think I just might, if that happened. Oh, this is terrible... I'm not like this... I'm not normally so... pathetic. I just want so badly to do well, and this isn't anything I know, not even a little... I'm literally clueless."

Leaning forward, she bit her lip, "...Keep me from going nutters... Tell me about them, this... Harry Potter fellow, and Dubbledoors...?"

"Dumbledor." He corrected her with a smile, and because I'm too tired to write out the entire story that we know from the movies... Cailen proceeded to regale Wren with the thrilling tale of Harry Potter, the Boy who Lived! He was quite animated as he talked, he'd heard the tale more than once and had read the stories written about him and his friends and the defeat of Voldemort. It was very exciting!

Lowell took the candy from Rowan and ate it. His teeth cut into the shell and a sharp flavor flooded in. "What is this?" Lowell's face twisted in abject horror. He coughed but otherwise choked down the stuff with dignity. It tasted like something his mother used to make. A witches revenge stew for not cleaning his room. "Why did you give me the yellow one? Uh." Lowell said.

"Eat one of those and see what you did to me." Lowell said and pushed the bag in Rowan's direction. He glanced at Meredith.

Fang's chest heaved up and down at a crazy speed. He seemed kind of stressed for a hamster. The change of surroundings flayed his nerves worse than Lowell's mother tapping at his wire cage. "I wonder if he would eat a jellybean." Lowell muttered.

(( @Solitaire -- Way to break the 4th wall, there xD ))

When Cailen fell quiet, Wren stared at him, a bit wide eyed. It had been a long, long story but not for a moment of it was she anything but riveted. It sounded like a movie... or a dream, but it had actually happened. And she and her family had known about none of it. She recalled hearing her parents talking about some sort of weirdness going on while they were younger, but nothing like what Cail had described.

"I can't believe all of that is real... and I never heard any of it. So will we meet him? I mean... is he like... a teacher or a guest lecturer or something? I don't know what I would do, meeting someone like that... Gracious. He actually... died... to save them all. That's... oh, it's totally mental... but so cool."

Meredith noticed the hamster's distress.

"Sorry..." She murmured to the animal, stroking him softly before putting him back in his ball. She closed it, leaving him inside, she returned her attention to the two cats. She gently picked up Amber and put her on the seat beside her, petting both her and Hazel, who lay in her lap.

"...Is your hamster usually so skittish? I mean, some of them are, but..." She fell into silence. But usually you can't bring them out of the house at all.

"He became an Aurer and had a family of his own." Cailen replied. "I don't know much detail about his kids, but yeah... I don't know if he'll ever be a guest professor or what. I've just heard about his story and read a lot about it. I like researching things."

He got to his feet and moved to the window, Draco on his shoulder. "I wonder how much further it is..." Looking back at Wren over his shoulder, he grinned. "I'm so excited for this!"

If she were honest, Wren was now more terrified and excited than ever, after hearing Cailen's story. If all of it was real, and she suspected it was than the wizarding world she was entering into was more horrifying and wonderful than she could ever have imagined. The closer they got to the school, the more her heart began to pound.

"...Can't be long, now." The story he'd told had to have been well over an hour, "...Is it completely stupid that I'm scared out of my mind, right now?"

"Probably." Cailen teased with a laugh. "I mean, if I wasn't excited I'd be scared too. I mean I am a little scared, but I'm more excited. If I remember right, we still need to get to Hogsmeade and then take boats over the Black Lake to Hogwarts. How long have we been on the train? Mum said it's about a five hour trip."

Lowell stretched his legs. The long train ride had somehow managed to exhaust him. They been going so long though he half expected the train to stop any minute. He left him mother's house hours ago and still knew virtually nothing about magic. Except not to eat wizard candy. "It's cool." He told Meredith. Fang rolled and kept rolling into the seat. Pushing and going nowhere. "You seem to have a thing for animals. Is that the kind of magic you want to study?" Lowell wondered about the magical equivalent of a veterinarian. He felt like he should know more about the magical society.

"The wand guy was weird wasn't he?" Lowell asked. He only assumed they went to the same place in Dragon Alley. Or maybe all wand makers were weird. Lowell kept his in the side pocket of his luggage for easy access. "I wonder how much power these things have." He said and thought of the mishap earlier on the train.

A lot. And a lot of potential for trouble.

Meredith shrugged.

"Magical creatures are cool. I prefer music and things, though..." She fell into silence before carefully considoring and answering him. "He's a unique man, is what I'll say. He knows his job well. And he's quite compassionate. I talked to him for the better part of an hour." She sighed, not answering the question of how powerful the wands were. Her voice was and had been quiet. It was always quiet, after all. "And... what about you...? What do you want to study...?"

Wren nodded, smiling just a little, "Then I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't make up their mind how to feel."

Looking out the window she shrugged, shaking her head, "Not sure. I feel like it's been a good while, but who knows... I hope we get there, soon, though... the wait is just about killing me. Hang on... did you say... boats? Like... the kind that... go over water?" She swallowed and turned away from the window, frowning, "Oh brother..."
