Katy smiled amused and looked at the back of the bag she had gotten. “Hmm… nose bleeders… laughter candies…. oh, here it is, Body Colour Drops,” she read when she found the candies she had picked out for the bag, she placed a finger by the writing. Then she read up from what it said. “Can make the colour of your body change for a few minuets per candy,” she stated. “Great for parties and pride parades,” she chuckled.

Then she held up another blue one at the same time. “Want to take it together?” she dared him with a grin. “One… two… three…” she said, and popped her own into her mouth. Rowan had been right… soon she looked very much like a smurf with purple hair.

Meredith leaned foreward in her seat to the candy was used. It didn't really faze her - not much did, and if these wizards used owls to deleiver mail, it wasn't much of a strech that they had magical candies. She gently took one out of the boy's - Rowan, she thought - well, his palm, anyways. She selected a triangular one, popping it into her mouth. It wasn't really sweet, but not sour, either. Meredith coughed as she swallowed the candy, blushing when she realized she hadn't been offered one. She didn't usually listen to people, and so she thought nothing, at least usually, of not being allowed.

"Those are a bit strange, you know." She stated, her voice still quiet. She either didn't notice or didn't care that Hazel was on the overhead rack. The cat tumbled down onto the boy's head, and Meredith jumped to her feet.

"Hazel!" She scolded the kitten. Hazel mewled at her, clutching to Rowan's hair to prevent herself falling. Meredith closed her eyes for a moment, as she always did in times of stress, before sitting back down, shaking her head.

"Sorry. Sorry, I really am." Her voice was even quieter, if that could be said, though it was still able to be heard.

Katy was more than happy to share the candies and smiled toward Meredith when she took one as well and joined her little rainbow party. “Those ones changed your eyes,” she commented as the girl took one. Then she took her mirror back up and showed her the eyes that had turned bright pink. “That is a great colour for you,” she commented teasingly. Then set the mirror back down. “Yeah, I love everything that is strange really,” she admitted with a shrug.

Then Katy jumped a bit when the whole cat-rampage happened. She covered her mouth (with her blue hand) trying not to laugh by the comical situation.

"Oi, you up there... Don't choke on my split ends..." Absently, Wren reached up to the ferret to scratch behind his head, but realizing how it might have looked to any passerby she opted instead to pick him up and situate him around her neck like a boa.

When Calien went on, she smiled and nodded, "Oh yes! Wicked fun that was... Mum and dad just about had their heads pop off from all the excitement. Nearly got lost, a good three or four times, but I think I got everything I needed. At least I hope I did. They... they won't kick you out if you're missing something, right? I don't think I've ever been so nervous."

Rifling through her bag, Wren pulled the corner off of a ham sandwich her mother had made her for the journey, rolling the bread into a ball and offering it to the ferret. Beside her, Mouse gave a shrill shriek, her bright yellow eyes popping open.

"Ah! There you are. Alive, after all." She grinned and took another ball of bread, tossing it into the cage, watching in amusement as the owl hopped from her perch to peck at it, "Was starting to worry I'd gotten a defective one."

She just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

"Well, they might." It was time to be a bastard and he had to fight to hide the smirk he felt creeping on the corner of his lips. "I heard last year, they sent a student home for not having the right kind of wand. Another one? Got detention for having an untied shoelace. I mean, they are just stories... but they can't all be lies."

What kind of person names an owl... after what it eats?

Draco, in the mean time was happily nibbling at the ball of bread held between his forepaws where he was draped around Wren's neck. He was happy, bread was one of his favourite snacks after all.

A brow quirked, and for a brief moment, Wren almost panicked... but of course, she didn't even have shoelaces, and why wouldn't they have said anything in the letters about the right kind of wand? And really, didn't the man in the wand shop tell her that wands picked who they wanted to belong to? It had sounded like sheer craziness, until she'd seen what she was relatively sure had been a goblin pass by and after that, well... she would have believed anything.

But something in the boy's face... a twist in the furthest corner of his lips gave her second thoughts and as she casually stroked the white ferret on the snout, she frowned softly, "You're teasing me... aren't you."

Slowly, almost as if it weren't in her nature to frown at all, the smile crept back to her mouth and she laughed, "Well, at least if they kick me out, I can still say I went, which is more than anyone in my family can say. Well, as far as I know, anyway. Mum says she swears my great grandmother was a witch, my Gran, too... And Gran, well... she tells stories like she ought to know more than just what the regular lot knows. My family, they're Roma, see... Gypsies, 'cept don't ever call them that to their faces, 'cause it's a bit of a slur, you know. Anyhow... Mum says Gran was locked up in this house in the woods, 'cause the folks in her village thought she was a witch. Grandda... He rescued her. Real noble like. Mum tells it like a fairytale... it's all very romantic and interestin'..."

Meredith nodded but didn't smile.

"It doesn't look too bad..." She stated, still refusing to look at Rowan. Hazel was still dangling by her claws in Rowan's hair. She wasn't going to knock Hazel loose, though... it seemed like Rowan would have to do that for himself.

June eyed the girl once again, watching her pet the strange cat. It was a beautiful cat, but where had it come from? Surely, you'd think people would take greater care of their pets. She petted Snow absentmindedly, who had been staring awfully strange at the cat. Maybe they didn't like each other, she thought.

"This one is mine." She replied, as she stroked the black cat. "The other, I don't really know." She wondered if she should give the girl her own name. It couldn't hurt, but it also couldn't benefit her. Father had often taught her, that one should only do things that had benefit. After an awkward pause, June looked up at the girl again. "Pleasure to meet you, Fleur Auror," she looked out the window once again, thinking it was going to be a long ride, if she had to make smalltalk all the way. "I'm June Walkers."

Lowell Grey carried a hamster ball between his palms. He stood away from the other students--his future classmates. Some people had tried to start a conversation with him about Fang, but Lowell didn't want to talk about his bizarre choice of familiar. It reminded him of his mom. He paced down the hallway. The abundance of cats made it hard to find a place to sit. Standing had begun to fatigue him though. The new shoes his mom bought him for school felt too small. Lowell shifted and his grey eyes scoped the compartments. He found one with an empty seat on the end and stalled.

Hogwarts must have a lot of money judging from the shinny interior. Lowell wondered how the school would compare. He noticed how quickly groups had formed. Considering how they were all strangers just a bit ago. Lowell slid the door open and stared blankly at the people inside. "Hey." He said. Lowell noticed they had cats too, and he held Fang tighter against his chest. "No place else to sit. Do you mind?"

He glanced at the girls and then the guy. The compartment smelled like candy. Lowell closed the door behind him and hovered inside.

Rowan was silently amazed by Katy's new skin colour, she did look like a purple-haired smurf! As he was about to comment on where did Katy find these types of candies, the other girl suddenly jumped onto her feet and cried out "Hazel!"

He raised a confused brow as he munched on a orange triangular candy. It didn't make much of a difference to his eyes, since that was his original colour anyway. Or more a brown. Rowan felt two paws digging onto his scalp and heard a shocked mewl. The ginger was used to have claws stuck on his scalp, but these were small, unlike Amber's.

The girl stammered apologises and Rowan quickly comforted her.

"H-hey..it's alright! I'm sorta used to this cus' I got a cat that does this all the time to me." Rowan said, prying off the dangling kitty off his hair. As he pried Hazel off, Katy was covering her mouth with a blue hand and his cheeks tinged pink.

As he managed to loosen Hazel's grip from his hair, a few unfortunate strands of red and orange were left on her claws. Rowan handed the girl back her cat and smiled, once again, sheepishly.

"Here you go, go back to your owner, ya pesky cat."

As Hazel hovered by the air, supported by Rowan's hands, ANOTHER newcomer decided to join the compartment. Alas, now it was full. It was a male, this time, and Rowan felt slightly relieved.

Realising he was still holding the cat awkwardly, his mouth opened and closed like a fish, struggling to explain the current situation of a smurf girl, their appearances and the cat rampage.

"Theres...still one seat left, hope we don't bother you.." Rowan managed to say.

@Hiddencard @Meredith @Cross_Rhodes

Meredith snatched the cat from him, snuggling her to her chest.

"No, no Hazel... It's okay, be more careful..." She crooned, petting the cat. She looked up as if startled by the others' prescence. "Sorry..." She still didn't let go of the cat, instead gazing out the window with Hazel still pressed to her chest. The cat squirmed uncomfortably, mewing at her, and Meredith let go. "Go on then, you little nuiscance." She teased quietly, letting the cat go and staring out the window instead.

What a shame, she'd not fallen for his bait. Oh well, as weird as she was... she was kind of adorable as well. In a... totally weird way. She sure rambled on about nothing a lot.

"Romantic? Tch." He rolled his eyes slightly. "Romance is for girls. It's an... interesting story though. Muggles used to burn witches, you know? They'd tie them to a stake in the town square and set it on fire, then the whole town would cheer as the witch died. Funny thing was, none of them were really witches, they were just women who didn't obey their husbands, like they were meant to back then. Or sometimes, they'd tie rocks to their ankles and throw them in a lake to drown. Or even off a cliff. If they survived, they were a witch, if they died they were a witch. Muggles were so stupid back then."

One might say he a weird hobby when it came to studying Muggle culture.

An intense light shined throughout the train, illuminating every corner of every cabin and even a large portion of the station. This light spread further and further and grew brighter and brighter for nearly a minute before fading, however that was not all. Almost immediately after the light faded, it was back and just as intense. The light quickly traveled in reverse, rumbling and shaking the Hogwarts Express as it traveled back to its origin. The sound of a quivering train rang in the ears of its passengers, building in intensity and volume. Then everything was still.

The silence was short lived, for this was the calm before the storm. It sounded as if lightning had struck the train, shockwaves and light scattered throughout the train, sending loose objects into the air and a few passengers off their feet. The lightning-like sound traveled through the station and even out into the world beyond. It was loud, it was long, and the heat in the hall was intense. Many curtains and the carpet had entered a repair state as the explosion died down. The station slowly returned to its natural lighting and it wouldn't be long before a commotion started.

Not shortly after, Victoria stumbled into a cabin, her clothes burned and destroyed along with hair singed with a small flame still traveling along her ponytail before fizzling away. With a dazed expression she sat down and attempted to ignore the people she had so rudely interrupted with not only her presence, but the failure of a spell that just destroyed her clothes.

Amber's POV

_______________

After these series of events, the poor white feline was barely clutching onto reality. Her fur stood completely on end as she ran to the compartment door, pawing at it before mewling intensely. The compartment door slid open and a charred girl stumbled in, letting Amber escape back to her owner in a frenzy of white fur.

_______________

Rowan's POV

Whatever the hell just happened, scared the crap out of the ginger. His skin went pale and his lips were quivering. Rowan let out a small shriek as the compartment door slid open a bit, but his heart slowed it's pace realising it was just Amber.

The poor cat looked like she seen and felt hell. The feline jumped onto his lap and rubbed her face against his stomach. Whoever did this, must be hella powerful, and the ginger DID NOT want to encounter this horrifying person.

Katy looked up at the new boy joining them with a smile. She still had blue skin and purple hair, probably looking quite strange, although the purple was starting to slowly fade from her hair already. “Hello, of course you can sit,” she said and held the bag of candy toward him. “Want a piece?” she asked.

She sat back in her seat, since the compartment was filled up, they only had to wait for the other students to get loaded up and then get going. She jumped a little in her seat when the explosion happened, looking out the window. “What was that?” she mumbled, but then sat back in her seat. She took a triangle piece this time, and her eyes turned a deep green colour.

"Oh! I know!" Wren grinned and it was a saucy little smile, as she sat up a little straighter, "I was one, till a couple months ago, you know. A... muggle? That's the word, right? I had to ask what it meant when we were in Diagon Alley... I'd never heard of it before and thought someone was being nas--."

As light flooded the cabin, Wren's eyes widened and for a moment she sat up, grateful, because a moment later her things were leaping off the seat a the loud, ground shaking sound. And then, just like that it was gone...

Magic... was... awesome...

Sitting back down again, a brow quirked for a moment she shook her head, then shifting, she rummaged through her bag before pulled out a blue, leather bound book with a bright red feather drawn on the front cover. It looked old and when Wren popped the clasp, folding it open the pages crinkled with age. Inside, in black ink the words "Lenore" was written in perfect calligraphy. As she lowered her gaze to the page, her eyes seemed to fill with an almost ancient wonder, a depth beyond her thirteen years.

"Once upon a time... at the cusp of a deep, dark forest, there lived a legend of old; A tale of lore, a harrowing myth, and a little girl. They had called her Lenore, which was ironic, being that the name meant 'light', but then, it was the idea of the name and not it's meaning that carried with it an ominous feel. Edgar Allan Poe had written about the Lost Lenore in his poem 'The Raven' and throughout the ages that figure haunted the minds of young and old alike. But the Lenore of this particular story was no ghostly apparition in the nightmare of a grieving widower... she was a child with unyielding joy and a vivid imagination - who broke a vase in her grandmother's house one foggy Autumn morning."

As she fell quiet, her smile returned, slowly, "Here," She said, handing it over, "It's my Gran's story... If you wanted to read it."

As Wren read from the book, Calien's eyes slowly widened and filled with wonder. That book sounded like something he had to read, and as she offered it to him to read, he was almost blown away by her generosity. Sure, they were going to the same school but they were still barely acquaintances. He took the book with gentle hands, if it was her grandmother's... it meant it was probably delicate.

"T-thanks." His voice was a little softer now, his nervousness of meeting a new person had passed and his little wall was a little lower. "I'll take good care of it."

He never had been a big reader, but it was someone else's stuff, which meant he'd take care of it. He let the book lay on his laps and he traced the feather with one finger. As he opened his mouth to ask a question, a painfully bright light flashed outside of the window and the train shook. Did lightning just strike nearby? But there'd been no storms, the sky was clear. Wide-eyed he looked over at Wren.

"What the hell was that?"

There had been a moment, once the excitement of sharing had faded that Wren nearly regretted handing the book over. He was a stranger... she didn't even know his surname and she had just offered him her precious handwritten family history without a thought. But when he took the book and cradled it like something fragile, she felt immediately better.

Shaking her head at his question, she followed his gaze out the window, "Sounded like it, to me... but it's still sunny out. Maybe it's part of the train ride?"

As the 'explosion' had hit the Hogwarts Express, June was thrown from her seat and onto the floor. Was it an attack? Confusion and disorientated, she held onto Snow, protecting the cat from falling luggage. It seemed like ages, and the heat was unbearable, but eventually it died down and the train started repairing itself again. June sat dumbfounded on the floor. What had just happened?

She looked to Fleur to see if she was alright, but her attention was broken, as another girl entered their compartment. June gave her a onceover and immediately narrowed her eyes. "You! What did you do?!" She shouted at the girl, immediately sensing her to be the root of this by just one look at her burned clothes and fizzling hair.

------

As the other passengers on the train looked around curiously as to what had just happened, their heads turned as a lady walked down the train with an air of authority. Malmuira Bremner, well known teacher at Hogwarts, made her way down to one of the last compartments. She slid open the door and eyed the three girls inside. "Goodday, June Walkers, Fleur Auror..." She said with a smile and turned her eyes to the last girl. "And you, Victoria Purifico. I must have a word with you." Mrs. Bremner went into a long, long speech about the importance of her and her fellow student's safety and practicing spells in public environments.

"... Well on that note, I do believe you'll be more careful in the future, will you not, miss Purifico? I will see you future students at the opening ceremony, may you have a delightful trip." She bid them farewell and left the compartment once again.

June still sat on the floor, not having moved throughout the entire long speech. Talk about reprimanding. Her initial anger towards the girl had dispersed, seeing her being scolden, and June just got up and sat in her seat again, trying to fix her hair.

@iLoriel2

The smile on Victoria's face faded and she began to quiver. Being yelled at was not something she was comfortable with, especially getting a lecture from an adult instead of another student. After she had left Victoria was beginning to quiver and whimper a bit, it wasn't something she was used to and there wasn't anything she could do other than begin to tear up and hold herself tightly.

The smoke coming off Victoria's body faded as she began to softly cry into her knees, curled up in the seat.

"I... I forgot my luggage combination and and I tried using the opening spell but read the wrong line from the book."

She was shaking and unable to stop herself from crying.

@iLoriel2 @TheLunchboxx Wait that's me

June blinked and just stared at the girl, who had started to cry. It's your own fault, she thought and clicked her tongue in annoyance. But as the girl kept trembling and sobbing to herself, June suddenly stood up. "Oh for lord's sake, get it together!" She got up and rummaged through her luggage, finding one of her many sweaters. She walked over to the girl and gave it to her. "Here. Change into this, so you won't make the whole compartment smell of smoke..." She said, trying hard not to speak too harshly to the girl.

"... Everyone makes mistakes, it's not the end of the world. Nobody got hurt." She added on in a quieter tone. I can't believe, I have to sit here and comfort the girl. June patted the girl's head awkwardly in a sort of comforting notion. Deciding, she had done her fair deal, she sat down after putting her luggage in place again. Her pitch-black cat mewled as it walked around the compartment, sniffing the girl's burnt clothing.

@TheLunchboxx

Lowell took a piece of candy from the girl on impulse. He accepted her bizarre color schemes in stride. Unsure if he wanted to do that to himself though and risk making a negative impression on the teachers. The noise in the distance sounded like a magic but the source was far enough away that it didn't involve any of them. "That persons probably not a Ravenclaw." Lowell said offhandedly. He hoped he didn't sound too callous though. Lowell was just as inexperienced with magic. "Speaking of which. Which house do you guys want to be placed in?"

Lowell glanced from the girl who offered him the candy to the only other guy in the compartment. He didn't know enough about the school to gauge which house had the best reputation. Lowell found himself hoping he had classes with people he sort of knew rather than complete strangers.

@VolcanicMagma

Katy looked over at her by the comment. “What is a Ravenclaw?” she asked her wondering. But then it dawned to her that she had been explained briefly about it. “Oh.. um, it’s like teams you get divided into at the school, right?” she asked, looking hesitant. She might have skimmed over the basic info about the school and went right to the parts that she found interesting. Like the forbidden corridors and different types of classes.

“What house do you want?” she asked right back, not really knowing enough about them herself.

@Cross_Rhodes

Lowell flushed at the turnaround. It felt like she was asking whether he wanted to be brave or intelligent or cunning or down to earth and he couldn't choose. They were all qualities he wanted. In retrospect it might have been a stupid question to ask her if he didn't know himself. Lowell crossed his arms over Fang's hamster ball. "I don't know." He said after a moment. It felt strange to be the one speaking out of a compartment full of people, but he wasn't shy. "My mother was a Slytherin but she told me I wouldn't be chosen for that." Lowell said.

He wasn't devious enough. Or clever enough. Lowell almost wished that weren't true--as much as people like that bothered him. "Is there anything you guys are looking forward to? Hogwarts is supposed to be huge." Large enough to get lost and never be found again or so his mother warned him.

Meredith smiled slightly, smiled for the first time in a while. She'd read about Hogwarts, though she had no-one to tell her about it.

"Ravenclaw. I mean, Griffindor would be cool, but it's logically not going to happen, you know?" Her voice was still quiet, but a bit louder. "And I've read something about the Room of Requirement. If you can find it, it gives you what you need most. I'll find it. Sometime." She blushed. "If it's real, I mean... Wat about you... Rowan, was it?"
