Mirrors and Clocks

Alyss gladly shook Dmytri's hand and said, "Yup, I'm Alyss." She smiled at their first formal greeting, though they had been walking around in the group for a few minutes. Alyss peered into Jack's roommate's room, aware of her and Julia's task of inviting this... inconsolable youth... to join their group on Alyss's first job. She tried to sneak in this invitation during a pause in Jack's and his roommate's conversation. "Um... Hey, I'm Alyss... We were—well, Julia, Largo, Dmytri, Jack, and myself, that is—were looking for more people to join our group... to, um, go on a job..." Alyss nervously offered, finishing her drawn-out sentence right before Jack switched off the music. Alyss looked down and hoped the new guy had heard her so she wouldn't have to repeat herself.
The spindly man walked around his torn-up house, Dom's eyes following him. The old man dug out a small leather pouch from beneath an overturned table and handed them both fifteen dollars. Dominick looked up from the bills and exclaimed, "W-what? I thought... I thought your request said $80!" The old man waved his hand and said, "What are you talking about? I clearly wrote $30 under the payment section." He didn't seem upset by this at all. "Besides, the two of you barely did anything. I could've done that!" Dominick thought to himself, Well, you didn't. However, he didn't continue arguing with the man as he doubted that he could win. Begrudgingly, Dominick took his measly payment back through the mirror and to the campus. He walked through the halls toward his room, #135. On the way, he saw a long-haired girl [LARGO] walking very slowly in the same way he was going. She looked kind of depressed, and off in her own world. Dominick fell into step beside her.

"Hey, are you okay? Just thought you looked kind of down... Not to be creepy or anything. By the way, my name's Dominick."

Julia had been pretty silent all the way to Jack's room. She had been distracted by a couple of things which happened to her very often. Much more on the mornings... She was absolutely not a morning person at all. However, she was snapped back to reality when she was addressed by Largo which had asked her and Julia to invite the other guy to join their group.

She blinked, realizing they were already at Jack's room and she hadn't even noticed when. She then looked down at the messy and untidy room before looking up at the guy who seemingly was able to live in such a place. Heh.. So that would be their possible new member of the group, that is if he agreed. She gave a friendly smile at Liam's wink and invitation to come in not letting the first get to her.

"Would you consider joining us?" Julia added when Alyss finished talking. She really didn't see how would Jack and Liam would get along for that job as the first one didn't seem to like the last one really much, but well Largo had asked them to invite him after all.

(God, sorry I couldn't post until now > < Was busy with exams T^T)

Nezumi walked down the stairs and and into the hall leading to the courtyard. She seen no sign of Lula anywhere and figured to check the courtyard to see if she was still there. I hope she didnt wait there... She thought to herself concerningly. She turned around the corner and entered the courtyard. She stood there searching the nearly empty room. It had died down alot. Lunch time, I guess. She thought to herself. It would explain the vast emptiness.

"Ohhh crap." She said aloud as her gaze fell on a ball of pink curled up in a ball in front of the corkboard. She ran up to Lula. When she approached her she shook her awake and flopped down beside her.

"OH MY GOD!" She said loudly. "LULA! I'm so sorry! I thought you were going to be in the room. I didnt mean for you to wait here, silly girl!" She said as she assaulted the little one with a hug. She giggled loudly. She coughed and stopped her giggling. "I'm sorry. Dont be mad at me."

Dmytri didnt go all the way into the room. He stood at the doorway and leaned up against it. He watched as the two guys interacted with each other. He leaned his back more into the door way and pulled his phone out of his pocket. He flipped through a few texts and put his phone back in. He sighed. Boredom.. He thought. He wanted to ask Alyss what sort of "job" they were going on but didnt want to interrupt the apparent reunion that was taking place at the moment. So he stood there, zoning out, quiet.

"And what metal pole might you be referring to Jack?" Liam asked slyly and added, "You dirty old man." He gave a serious face for a full four seconds before laughing at his own humor. When Alyss spoke up, he didn't seem to be paying attention to her but he was. "So the wench is the one pulling the strings of this little gathering?" He asked rhetorically, pretty much confirming his own guesses. "And not you sweet girl, the one that's either absent or body hopping." He referred to Largo. He wasn't much against joining the group, in fact he'd really get a kick out of Jack having to cooperate, and there was one other little thing... "Julia was it?" He looked straight into her eyes with the most serious expression he'd made since they had arrived. "I will join your group and you can use me as you wish.....but I have one tiny little thing I need you to do for me first."
Largo walked rather aimlessly down the hall, wondering how the recruiting of Jack was going along. He was a difficult person but a skilled fighter; he'd be pretty useful if they could manage it. She was walking along the walls as she usually did when she was deep in thought, it was the best way to avoid the fleshy traffic. Her fingers lingered on the hilt of her dagger, it was smooth and rounded and another form off fidgeting. She sighed but at just the wrong time, her face smooshed into the side of a hard bony shoulder."Ehh.." She held her hand over her nose as she took a step back and winced, looking up at, who else, Dmytri. It being the third time in one day she figured she'd just let the subject drop on one note, "sorry." She shook her head and breathed in to clear her throbbing nose.

(Skipping around a little to catch up... I think... Sorry.. I was not really in yesterday..

And a small post because I notice my lack of time.... Sorry again)

The mindless walk carried Ryder around the academy without much notice after the training rooms. Now he stood a little outside of the front gate, leaning against one of the walls with the simple thought of where to go next. If the initial purpose behind this small journey was to clear his head, it apparently worked. He had no recollection as to what drove him into leaving the room. He would have to assume that he left the grounds from the two small shopping bags that hung from his left hand. All the more, upon feeling within his pockets it would seem that the small cash he came with was gone.

That's right, if he went into a shop without a second thought, he often blew his money on various thing. Though it was generally miscellaneous cooking ingredients. From the bulk however and lack of weight, he could only imagine that some of it was clothes. At least this time it was nothing completely useless, hopefully..

Alyss was shocked and looked up at Jack's roommate. What? Who's he talking about? Confused and uncomfortable with how the situation was turning, Alyss fidgeted with her hair, headphone cord, and anything else she could find. She had a moment of realization and dug her iPod Touch out of her pocket, turning the music off that had been playing through the headphones around her neck for the past half hour. Upon seeing him stare at Julia and ask her for one little thing, Alyss backed up silently and stood near the threshold of the door, not wishing to abandon Julia in this place but not having many choices.

"NO NOT THE BUNNY!" Lula shouted, eyes shooting open. Then she realized she had fallen asleep and the blue bunny she dreamed about was neither real nor in trouble. "Oh, Hi Nezumi. Sorry I fell asleep. I was looking at the jobs like you told me to!" She smiled groggily, rubbing her eyes.

Lula giggled as Nezumi shouted appologies at her. "Ack!" She exclaimed when she was suddenly tackle-hugged. She smiled brightly, extatic, as Nezumi giggled.

"Why would I be mad at you?" Lula questioned, genuinely confused, when Nezumi asked. "Does this mean you like me again?"

Julia smiled as she crossed her arms and raised her eyebrow, leaning her back softly against the wall "And that thing being?" What would he ask? That interested her.

(Phone mode > < Short post sorry)

((//Now has to read over about 10 pages of posts OTL I'm so narrowsighted.))

Roo honestly wasn't complaining when he got his share of 15 dollars. They didn't really get to do much, besides return a baby bear back to its mother. He wondered, though, how the man was going to fix his hut of a house. "Irina, let's go..."

"Oh... Oh! Okay, master!" Irina smiled happily and skipped alongside Roo back out of the mirror. She seemed really happy all of a sudden, most likely because the bear family had been restored. Roo gave her a side glance and a smile, ending up in the mirror halls again.

"I'm going to head to the dorm."

"What dorm?"

"We're in a school."

"Oh, right... Vivi didn't tell me that!"

Roo rolled his eyes, then pulled Irina forward to go back to their dorm. He wondered where Dominick gone.

((I'll bring in Rune and Buster when I feel like it... And when I read back with the others... But something tells me I won't read back...))

Dmytri was taken back again. He looked down at the pinkette and smiled.

"I'm starting to think its you." He joked. He stepped out of the way to let Largo through the doorway and waved a hand as to motion for her to. I wonder if I'm the clumsy one or she is.

Nezumi looked at Lula in confusion.

"Of course I still like you!" She smiled. "Why would I stop?" She wrapped her arm around Lula and gave her a hug. "You're so weird. I like weird." She punched her in the arm lightly.

Dominick fast-walked up to the group, not noticing that the girl had walked into someone else. He awkwardly approached the group and said to no one in particular, "Did I hear you say you guys were looking for more people? 'Cause I just got back from a... not very well-paying job and would be happy to go on another."

((sorry for short post, will post tomorrow morning hopefully ^^ ;) )

"Oh, I thought it was me the whole time.." Largo yawned and looked towards the opposite wall. She noticed Dmytri step aside but she really wasn't interested in butting heads with Liam. She waited outside the door and leaned against the wall similarly as he had. He's pretty smart to stay out of that hazard zone, she thought, rubbing her nose once more before letting her hand fall limp to her side. She could hear some sort of arrangement going on between Liam and Julia inside. "So..I know I said we could talk about it later, but if you don't mind me asking--What's your ability?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well," He started, looking completely innocent, "You merely have to allow me to pet you and meow like a kitten when I do...it's simple really." His tone was serious but his smile was mischievous and crooked. He lifted a crawling hand into the air, awaiting Julia's response.

( Also sorry for the briefness, I'm currently out of town. I'll be at a concert tomorrow night getting showered in paint...lol QQ )

He chuckled a little at her comment. He watched her and noticed she seemed a little unsettled. Maybe I'll ask later... He noticed another person join the group. Well, he was certainly attempting to. He looked at him and shrugged his shoulders and pointed inside of the room. He watched the new arrival for a moment and than turned his attentions back to Largo.

"I'm uhhh... how would you say it technically.. An "Elemental Manipulator" of sorts. My sister and I have that in common. I can manipulate water. The difference between us two is that I do not need an elemental source. I can sense and summon. I can summon it from the air, the clouds. I guess I do need a source but its a little less basic than that. I can sense it the air around us, the moisture in the walls, every blade of grass... the water levels in your body. I also have medic abilities. It's not so impressive. More like a parlor trick, really.. Yours?"

Largo wondered if he always bought his sister up in plain conversation. It was a little unexpected to find out that someone who seemed so strong and rigid in ways controlled something like water, such a care-free and mobile element. She laughed a little when she put the two together. She perked up slightly when he mentioned a medic ability, something slightly similar to one of her abilities. "We have two other elemental manipulators, not counting Jack-I haven't seen his power yet.." She knew this wasn't what he'd asked her so she continued, "I possess people. That is my ability. I can read memories if I choose to and levitate just a little...It's not even worth mentioning really, maybe I can go twenty feet high?... I also have a sort of...medic ability.." She met his eyes and figured it was okay to tell him. "Basically I can restore someone's stamina at the cost of my own..It's sort of a one time use thing until I get some sleep." She wondered if his medical type ability also had a cost. "Does your medical ability have some kind of cost as well?" She figured it would considering the irony and cruelty of nature.

"That's got to be a little rough on you." He said softly. "Such a self-sacrificial ability. The cost to use mine isn't as impressive. My hands have to have contact with the wound. It sort of accelerates the natural healing process. If a muscle is torn or a leg is broken, it can take a few minutes. The painful part is still having to connect the bones and muscle tissue. After this is done, I lose my sense of touch in my hands. When that happens my ability to sense water is deafened. I can't summon it. This can last however long it took for the wound to heal. That and I can't really heal myself. It halts. As you can plainly see." He scoffed as he pointed to the scar on his face. He trailed his finger down to his side. "It's kind of demented, I guess. It covers almost half of my forward upper body." He looked the other way and down the hall. He zoned out for a second. He looked back at Largo and smiled.

"So when do you think this episode of Three's Company is gonna end?" He joked as he walked behind her and looked into the room.

She shrugged at his initial comment, unwilling to show her weakness on the issue. He indicated his scar and trailed down his body to show what was beneath the surface. "Demented?" She asked a little puzzled, protectively drawing a hand to her chest where a rather gruesome blast scar hid itself beneath her sweater. She decided to let the comment pass, as it was clearly in self regard. "I think it adds charm" she whispered and peered into the room with him. "Well. It will only end with he," Largo pointed to Liam from the edge of the doorway, "either gets what he wants, or Julia lights him up..." She said rather matter of factually, even though he may not get the reference to Julia's pyromancy.

He smirked at her charming comment.

"Light up? Well I hope something happens soon..." He said. He walked away coughing loudly in hopes the others in the room remember their audience. He leaned up against the wall on the opposite side. He was getting impatient. He wanted to know what the others were "packing". He also wanted to know what this mission was he so foolishly volunteered for and why they need such a big group.

"Your skills are pretty impressive." He asked Largo. His voice slightly more audible than before. "I can only imagine what the others do... With that in mind, what kind of mission did I volunteer for?"

Dominick took this opportunity to jump in with, "Yeah, I was wondering that myself. Do you mind if I join your guys' group? ...About the powers, mine's not that impressive—I can persuade someone or cloud their vision, and enhance or slightly change what something is or seems to be." As an example, he ran his finger over his hoodie, and a stripe of blue appeared on the jacket where his hand had been. "I'm Dominick."

Julia glanced at his hand, brow raised. Her smile didn't go away though such kind of request did surprised her. She didn't move from her leaned position instead staying still right there on her place. Liam was just a few steps from her and she wouldn't even move a finger to approach him... And neither would him "Just that? Oh, well take a step forward and try it" She finally answered as her eyes turned into a slight darker shade of green.

She could feel it in her bones, spreading through all her body, the feeling of her powers finally being used. Her gaze remained on him as little by little she could almost even see how each muscle on his body slowly benumbed and left him paralyzed, that so until she decided to stop it.

"Dmytri." He nodded at Dominick as he did a little salute. He looked down the hall and saw his roommate leave. Wonder where he's off to, he asked himself. His small interest in his roommates whereabouts was brought on by boredom. What if he's formed a relationship with Nezumi... He chuckled at the thought. He stopped chuckling and coughed a bit. "What if he did..." He mumbled to himself. No that's absurd. I worry too much about her. "You're powers are pretty interesting, Dominick."

Lula giggled and punched Nezumi back, although her punch was horrendously weak. Then her stomach growled and she blushed scarlet in embarrassment. "Nezumi? Do you think we could eat now? Where's the cafeteria?"

"Actually now that I think about iti havent eaten anything at all since we got here." She stood up and brushed herself off. She held a hand out for Lula and pulled her up with ease. "Lets go on an adventure!" She smirked as she declared. She started walking out of the courtyard coolly.

Dominick laughed slightly and said, "Thanks," to Dmytri. He made the stripe fade from his jacket and watched as the girl with green hair and eyes stared intensely at a guy with brown hair. It looked as if her eyes darkened a shade greener than they had been.

Alyss looked around nervously as Julia and Liam engaged in awkward questions and threats; she saw Liam's body get slightly stiffer and Julia's eyes deepen in color. She re-readjusted the headphones around her neck and, to stop fidgeting, put her hands in her pockets.

"Okay!" Lula cheered excitedly and followed closely behind Nezumi. "And after we eat can we go for a job? I basically memorized them while I was sitting there." She giggled. She half ran/ half skipped after Nezumi, happy to know that her only friend never actually stopped being her friend, like Lula had thought when she left her suddenly. "I wonder what they'll feed us here?" She questioned, her stomach grumbling again.
