Apparently, two of the three people at the table were leaving in the very near future, both to work. Yami couldn't help but wonder what their jobs entailed, if maybe it was a form of training or if it perhaps was just a way to get money. Or both. Both worked mighty fine. She'd have to ask them about it later, along with everything else she wanted to learn. Yami was curious by nature, but she also felt a pit in her stomach when they talked about work. She hoped they weren't spending all of their hard earned cash on tuition and that they had at least some time to themselves. She was worried about the two of them.
Shoe said he lived in the area, like her, but that he didn't know much about it. Yami wondered if that was because of how much he worked or if he truly just didn't get out much. Personally, she went out a little too much. Cat cafes, noodle places, convenience stores.. You name it, Yami's probably been there. It didn't help that most of her dinners were from mini-marts or cheap ramen houses.
"I'm here by myself. Mom and Dad are back in Iowa taking care of the farm and pa is in Sapporo running his hero agency." Ah, her pa, whoever that was, ran a hero agency? No wonder she was in Shiketsu, and no wonder she could order so much food.. "So I'm here in my own loft by myself. Kind of sucks being alone, but it's okay." Wolf-girl sighed, and Yami immediately felt bad for her. She tried to cover it up with a smile, but Yami knew that she was just trying to keep up her cheerful persona, trying not to worry anyone else. Yami had never really felt homesick because she'd never really been away from home, but she knew what it felt like to be alone. She decided that she'd hang-out with Wolf-girl so much that neither of them would be able to feel lonely.
Despite all of that mushy stuff, Yami had absolutely no clue what some of the words Wolf-girl was saying were. Mom, Dad? Pa? She guessed she should've paid more attention to her English teacher in Junior High. Yami's goal was close to becoming reality, though, and that was all that matter. Wolf-girl had told her, "Hau, I would like to be shown around. Maybe after brunch if you don't have anywhere to go?"
Yami nodded, a smile on her face. "Yeah! We'll go somewhere cool." Ah, but could she think up a place Wolf-girl'd like? There was a giant park nearby, but would that be stereotyping? There was a dog cafe, as well, yet she was unsure if she even liked dogs. Yami always liked going to the shopping district, although all she ever did was window-shop since she didn't have the money. Going to a shrine would be a good bet, especially since they'd be able to pray for good luck throughout the school year, but Yami knew that some people felt uncomfortable praying to gods they didn't believe in. Her head was spinning with possibilities.
In the meantime, Wolf-girl's food had been placed on the table, all six plates, and Shoe had figured out what he wanted to order, too. Yami hoped deep down that it'd be something she'd be able to steal. She was hungry, after all. Arietty had finished her sandwich, as well, and replied, "That's super sweet of you, Yami." She smiled warmly, and Yami did the same. "However, my apartment doesn't pay for itself." Arietty stood up and dusted herself off. Yami's grin drooped, but she said, in complete worry, "Don't overwork!"
Arietty left the building, waving to the table, and Yami fell silent among Shoe and Wolf-girl. She wasn't entirely sure what to say or do, but looked to Shoe and blurted, "So, what're you going to order?"
