Futuristic Mental Apocalypse

"FFFZZZ"

Oak was conscious again. Cool. He managed to get himself into a sitting position. At some point, he had sat down in a chair and fallen asleep. At another, much more recent point, the chair fell over backwards and Oak sprained his tailbone.

"Ah, my flapping coccyx!" Oak said through grit teeth. This spurred a dozen questions in Oak's head. How did he know what a coccyx was? Why did he decide to say coccyx? Do coccyxes flap? What's the plural of coccyx?

Oak blinked a few times, and remembered that the world was ending. At least there were survivors. Wait. Where were they? Oak was alone. What if they had died? What if they had left without him? No, no, no, no, no, NO NO NO NO NO-

Oak burst through the door, eyes clawing at the view of the hallway to look for signs of life. Nobody. He stormed out of the master bedroom and exploded into the kitchen.

Maddy, Isaac and Natalie were standing, having breakfast. Oak cleared his throat.

"Uh... Er... Uh... Morning!" Oak sighed, smiling, giving one awkward clap. Thank God they were still around. "What's up?"

Amy read the note quickly and smiled up at Isaac. She turned to the rest of the group, including Oak. She smiled a little warily at Vicky and summarized.

"He just said that he wanted to get to the safe house, but I could mark the location of the lab on the map. He mentioned that Mady wouldn't let him outside, but if they get the car running we can go to the sewers.

She leaned over the map and marked a large circle in the middle-ish part of the map.

She looked back up. "Is that a good summary, Isaac?" Amy reached to the toast.

Mido started moving in the bathroom. Had he just passed out? Why were he all soaked?

Then he remembered. The throat. All that stress must have drained him for all of his power. He remembered taking that crazy throat-slasher out and cleaning her, but then all was black in his head. What could possibly have happened? He was not the type to just pass out, well not counting in his catatonia.

Mido started to slowly get up. No pain, no missing limbs. He was fine, or at least it seemed like it. As he got up, he walked out into the bedroom.

"Hello? Where are you all?" Mido said half yelling. "Are you guys ok? No one bled out while i was gone right?" Mide said with a smile.

"I can help out with working the car. My dad used to make me do maintenance on his. Well, more accurately, he told me to do it, and I waited for him to come back so I could help him do it. But I remember some things. And I would get a kick out of weaponizing it. How many shovels do you have, Isaac?"

Oak turned and heard Mido from somewhere.

"Mido! Back with the living! Hopefully, all the way back." Oak turned to the rest. "Seriously, we are missing the opportunity of countless zombie jokes by calling them Psychos. Mido, we're in the kitchen!"

Isaac made a slow nod at Natalie before turning towards Oak. Isaac scratched his head, shovels? Why would he need shovels? He raised a single finger in the air before letting his arm fall down again. Isaac wasn't really sure what Oak meant by weaponizing his car.. What good would that do? He sighed and sat down. on one of the chairs. Slowly putting a few of the different cuisines on his plate. Now that he was thinking about it. Isaac needed a weapon too.

Amy perched up at the sound of Mido. Momentarily forgetting the task at hand (which happened to be eating breakfast), she stood up and rubbed her palms together.

She cut to the chase. "Obviously Maddy got bit by an infected and I'm worried about what's going to happen so I need someone to come with me and get a blood sample from a Psycho which then I can study in the lab in the sewers and I can't do it myself because I never learned how to fight but they told me that you could help me and I don't think that Maddy would have a problem with you going outside."

She took a deep breath.

She smiled, sticking out a hand. "I'm Amy, by the way. I'm evidently the fourth personality you have met."

After listening to Amy babble the first five words of what she knew was going to be a long winded rant, Madi gradually raised the volume until she could hear nothing else but her music. Why does this song have to be so quiet?

Madi bobbed her head distractedly as she munched on a piece of toast, opening up Notes and quickly typing down a summary of what had happened to her since the beginning of the "apocalypse". She caught a few words out of Amy such as "infected", "Psycho", "lab in the sewers", "can't... myself", "Madi would have a problem", "going outside", and "Amy... Fourth Personality." Jeez this girl can talk

Vicky was disappointed when Amy said the 'magic word,' probably wasn't her case. Vicky noticed Isaac looked at her bruise on her temple, and gave her a 'What the hell happen there' gesture. "Umm.. someone knocked me out when I was trying to save you from the green person.." she rubbed her arm shyly. Suddenly, she heard Amy say something about blood samples from psychos, "Bl-blood sam-samples?" She backed away from Amy, and slowly began to creep in the direction of the particular room she liked with all the board games and such.

Oak cleared his throat.

"So... we should get a team of people to go, right? We should get the best suited. Leave the injured. Standard stuff. We're probably gonna want someone who can zip in and out quietly. So knives, only small guns for emergencies if it all goes to schist. I can get you guys going as soon as look at the car. And attach shovels to the sides. Weapon car! How cool is that?"

Oak blinked rapidly. "Anyway. Back to the point. Who's willing to go?"

Madi muted her iPod as Oak's topic change caught her attention.

"Obviously neither Isaac or I can go, since we're both injured. Amy, you can't fight, you have to stay here. Which means you, Vicky, and Mido are capable to fight," Madi said. She would've volunteered, but knew Mido would lose his mind at her if she did. So she kept quiet and observed her fellow survivors.

Vicky leaned against the door listening in on the conversation about going to a laboratory. She, apparently, seemed to be the one of the few people who wasn't injured.. Oh GAwd... Vicky grabbed a board game and hid in the closet. Green people drive her insane. Green people make normal people hit her on the head. I think this implies that Vicky is going to pass on getting experiment on. She imagines that's what the laboratory is for. She rolls the dice; she got a six. "YES!" she covered her mouth. She forgot that she didn't want to be found. She moved her board game piece six spaces forward.

Oak gulped loudly.

"Right ho," Oak mumbled, "But shouldn't Amy actually lead the expedition? She is the one who wants to see the lab. I think we'd all be comfortable if she was going and, you know, since she knows what's going on. She'll know what to do so she should come."

Okay, you're repeating yourself now, Oak thought.

"This is an easy fix," Madi stated, standing up and scraping her chair back, the latter unintentional. "We split these expeditions into separate missions. You three, or two since Vicky is hiding, go get the Psycho, then we meet up and all head down to the lab."

Amy frowned. "I can go, I am perfectly capable! THANK you, Oak! Yes, I should go!"

She pulled out a test tube from her pocket and looked at Maddy. "I'm going on both. Besides, I don't trust any of you with my test tubes."

Isaac sighed. He didn't really have a choice no matter which group he should follow. He instead stood up and went upstairs and into the recreation room. He looked around for a bit, quite a mess really. He sighed again. As he walked over to the far end of the wall picking a key out of his pocket and knelt down to unlock a trunk.

Vicky heard someone enter the room she was in. She sat motionless in the closet. She peered through crevices of the closet to see what was going on. It was Isaac. He was opening something; this peeked Vicky' interest. She held her finger to her lips to remind herself to be quiet.

Isaac opened the trunk and stared into it. He looked back and scanned the room again. Not noticing anything out of the ordinary he turned his attention back to the trunk, where he pulled out a Hook sword. He studied the exotic blade for a moment. Turning it a few times and feeling it's weight. He places the sword on the ground next to him and picks another exact copy of the first hook blade.. *A gun would have been better.* Isaac sighed and placed the sword besides the other one, Finally he takes a double scabbard and settles it around his chest and back. He then carefully sets the blades on them. *Useful in the open.. Sucks in the sewer..* Isaac continued to rummage in the chest. A few other weapons where there. But none of them were really going to change anything.

Isaac stood up tugged on his satchel and then on the blades. He mused to himself in his thoughts *sometimes being a collector of Victorian goods bring interesting things..* He walked out of the recreational room and went downstairs again. Hopefully the others had decided on what to do.

Madi noticed Isaac leave suddenly and sat back down, putting her earbuds back in. She had no idea where he was going but it certainly seemed important if he was going to leave with that expression. She leaned back on two chair legs and closed her eyes, a sigh escaping her lips. She had given her input, now it was up to the others to decide if they agreed. Amy certainly did.

Madi yawned and closed her eyes. It was waaay too early for this, and coffee only made her more tired, so she was ultimately screwed if they were attacked. Well, maybe the adrenaline would wake her up.

Oak clapped his hands together and smiled widely.

"Goodie! Amy leads. I heard someone say that we had a map of the place. And I'm gonna go see what I can do with the car. I'm sure there are shovels in the garage. See you guys later! Let me know when you guys are ready to take off."

[OoC: I hope you don't mind if I just get really creative here.]

Oak made his way to the garage with Isaac's map of the house. The car was there. Oh, yes. Oak smiled. There was some old fences in one of the storage spaces, the criss-cross wire fences. Cool. An electric screwdriver, a hammer, and an unreasonable amount of shovels. Well, Oak thought, I suppose two shovels are perfectly reasonable. And it'll serve its purpose. Somewhat.

Oak looked around some more. A lawnmower. Maybe that could of some use, but that was much more maintenance than Oak was willing to do. And, of course, the car itself. It was a Volvo, and Oak didn't know much about cars, but this would not do. Oak peeked through the window.

No Psychos to be seen. Cool. But also inconvenient. They'd have to go far to find one. Agh, whatever, Oak needed to stretch his legs and maybe it'd be good to see the damage. What Oak did like to see was a van. It looked like the owner was planning to drive it when the plague hit them, because the keys were on the seat. Or it was a well-planted trap. Oak didn't care. Alright. Work time.

(After some time)

"Oh. Oh ho ho ho. That is beautiful."

Oak had completely transformed the van. Oak added spikes to the front of the car, which turned ramming even more deadly. Next, the wired fences protecting all of the windows, some choice spots cut out so human hands or weapons could stick through. Oak also took the opportunity to pull out some of the seats, make more room for whatever. And finally, the dessert of this beautiful meal. He had drilled in two sharpened shovel blades on the sides, placed around the height of Oak's kneecaps. If zombies came close, their walking would be stopped at the least. Oh, it was gorgeous.

Okay, it was slightly misshapen and rushed, but it was totally worth it. Oak was also covered in grease.

Still worth it.

Amy whistled loudly, watching him carefully. "Impressive. Ready to go?" She climbed in the back, and pulled out her notes from a non-existant pocket and started jotting things down.

Madi stumbled into the garage with a yawn, but stopped mid-yawn to gape at the car. She laughed loudly.

"Oak, dude, this is awesome!" Madi exclaimed, examining one of the shovels on the side. Madi straightened up with a grin. "So... Can I drive?"

Isaac had quickly heard the noises from the garage and came down. What he saw was horror. And fortune.. HIS CAR.. Isaac stared at Oak when Maddy exclaimed that she should drive. He then gave her his death stare. Before signing furiously. He pointed at him self and then held his hands clenched as he was holding a steering wheel. He then pointed at Maddy and the others and quickly multiple times crossed his hands over each other. 'I'm driving, Not you! or you or you!' Isaac sighed afterwards and took a few breaths. This is possible even worse than yesterday.. Nearly... He looked at the car again.. Nope much worse.

Madi whined, a noise very similar to a kicked puppy. She bowed her head and furrowed her brows, peering up at Isaac with watery eyes.

"But..." She began in a shaky tone. She honestly didn't care, but she couldn't resist trying to weasel her way into driving the death machine that Oak had constructed

Amy sounded slightly annoyed. "Guuuys, if you don't want something absolutely horrible to happen to Maddy, we need to go!" She waved the test tube around. "Maddy, if you know know how to drive, have a blast. Or Isaac. Or what ever. You guys figure it out!"

He stared Maddy then wrote something on the notesbook without ripping the piece of paper off he showed it to all of them in the room. Just a short sentence was written on it "DO you have a license?!" He crumbled the paper again and threw it away. And he took his wallet out with his own driver license.

As Natalie spoke Isaac instead of waiting for an answer went over to the driver's seat and fastens his seat belt.

Not by any chance would he let someone else drive.
