Magical Michief (For ultimus9)

Alex called into the darkness. "Really man, that's just cheating."

He floated into the air a few inches, gathering force. Eric would be hiding somewhere, waiting to strike. SO he'd do something about it. He set forth even more wind, to sweep away the darkness. He'd designed it as a sort of piercing wind. Sure, it might get rid of that odd illusion meant to cover a zit, but he was not going to lose to a new transfer.

She knew that would happen so she had several copies of herself placed around him in a circle. She was really behind him by the fountain, gathering water to flow around her in a circle, before making it split up into many different strikes

Alex smiled at the copies of Eric everywhere. Illusory shades. At this point he had no idea who was the true Eric. But he had an idea of how to figure it.

Attack them all.

He sent out a multi-pronged wall of force, punching each illusion out.

They dissipated.

Where was Eric?

He spun around, facing the now dry fountain.

Oh, shit.

Her water strikes flew towards him, as she kept a small barrier around herself. This was an offensive and defensive move she learned how to do. Using water as a shield, and constantly sending some of it out as an attack. "surprise." She said as her water strikes all went towards him, a few of them hitting him dead on.

The spears of water hit him like a bus.

He fell to the ground, coughing out water. As the next barrage came, he tried something new.

He raised his hands, summoning a whirlwind. It cut the ordered strikes of water out of Eric's control. He let the centrifugal cast the water into the crowd. He conjured another pillar of air, flying towards Eric with the speed of raptor in flight.

"Surprise to you too." he said, as he rammed his fist into Eric's sternum.

She was taken by by such force. She was more surprised he was able to break her water barrier, since it doesn't happen often. She gasped when he punched her and almost fell back, taking a few staggering steps back as she lost her breath for a moment. She had never been punched like that before, mainly cause she was a girl, but right now it hurt. Like Hell. She couldn't let one punch knock her down. she saw the water on the ground and quickly formed it into a whip, lashing Alex in the back

As Alex was thrown forward, a few sluggish thoughts made their way through his head. Like, his back hurt.

He landed on all fours, panting slightly.

You wanna see why we always win? Fine.

He stood up, wiping his mouth on the back of his sleeve.

Alex raised his hands, increasing the air pressure around Eric. The usual was one atmosphere.

He increased it to ten.

"Just tell me when you're ready to quit."

She felt the pressure around her get heavier and heavier, and it all happened suddenly at once. It caught her off guard and she felt like she couldn't breathe properly or even move.

The head master stood up and put a stop to it before something happened. "Alex, stop this. We're not trying to kill each other, this is just practice." He said sternly.

Alex let the spell go. Not all at once though. Gradually. He knew that if he had, Eric would probably get the bends and die. He didn't really want that.

But he was mad.

He turned to the headmaster, still scowling.

"Fine. Have I won?"

The headmaster was still giving a stern look. "Yes..."

When the air pressure was gone, and fell over and started coughing. Her whole body just ached all over, and her chest where he punched her. She felt some of the other students help her back up as the head master told them to take her to get checked up on.

-2 hours later

Alex stared at the wall of his room.

Eric still hadn't come back from treatment.

His watch was ticking way too loudly.

Maybe he was keeping his distance.

Good choice.

He went to bed, trying to forget what he'd done.

After being treated by the nurse, She wanted to go back to the dorm. she saw what time it was and wanted to freak out. In a few more hours, the illusion would wear off and she would be exposed. Sure, her chest still hurt from the punch and her body still ached a bit, she wanted to go back. The Nurse insisted that she should stay the night in case of something serious, but she couldn't take that risk.

She left the nurses office and made her way back slowly to the dorm. She had no idea what came over Alex to do something like that, it took her off guard and it kind of scared her to be honest. There were rules in the tournament, no extreme harm should be done to the opponents. And that was just a little spar match.

She hurried as fast as she could, but she could only move so fast before she started hurting again. Night time was coming fast. She had just made it to the dorm and closed the door behind her, hurrying to her room. Alex seemed to be in his room, so that was good. She opened her door just as the illusion was wearing off, quickly closing the door and falling to her knees, sighing in relief and also wincing. the pain hurt more when she was a girl than as a guy. She went to her bed, and collapsed, falling asleep right away.

Alex couldn't sleep. He had no idea of the why, and especially the how, of what he'd done. He sat up, weighing a spent can of soda in his hand. He focused the air on it.

It collapsed into a cube of metal.

Damn. He never even tried this stuff, it was completely new. And Eric'd been his first test subject.

He quietly entered Eric's room, sinking into a chair.

"So, you done bleeding yet?"

Her eyes widened, good thing it was dark in the room and the covers were over her. she had just started falling asleep when he heard her enter her room. Her heart started racing. She cleared her throat, which was painful too. she tried to disguise her voice. Her voice sounded raspy, and almost like it could pay off as her guy voice.

"Uh....yeah...." She closed her eyes. that must have been a bad attempt, she just knew it. why why why didn't I lock my door?!

Alex lifted an eyebrow he knew Eric couldn't see. "Have you been sucking helium while I was sleeping?"

She was beating herself up in hr head. If she tried a spell he would notice right away. She made a gasping, raspy painful sound. "No...just,....chest hurts." She said trying her best to sound more like Eric, but it was hard.

Alex began to reach for the lamp. "Yeah. Suppose so. In case you're wondering, my back hurts like hell, thanks. But on a better note, I think I figured out how to reverse the effects. Here, stand up."

"C-can it wait...until morning?" She asked. She couldn't tell what he was doing while underneath the covers. "I'd like...to get some sleep..." She yawned.

Alex flicked on the light, squinting.

"What's with you, anyway? Thought you said your chest hurts."

She saw the light turn on through her covers. ohshitohshitohshit!!! She thought as she tightened the covers over her. "It does, but I'm fine. Just get out." She said, still trying to use the Eric voice.

Alex flipped away the blanket. Gave his mind a few seconds to process the image. Then stepped back a few paces.

"So, you really were the spy?" he said, voice barely above a whisper.

She say up and winced. "Wait! Before you do aomething drastic, I need to day that I had no choice. Malinda forced me without even letting me get a word in." She pleaded. "I never wanted to come here or spy."

She had no idea what he would do now. She was acraid he would hurt her in some way. She would almost rather the pubishme t than that.

"I... ill leave now. You can.forget i was even here!"

Alex closed his eyes, raising a hand. Then he sat down again.

"You know, I kind of thought we were friends.." he stood up, walking out.

"If you try to escape, I will tell the headmaster. Until then, I don't what to do with you. So there."

When he left, she collapsed in her bed again and sighed. She reached for her lamp and shut it off, going to sleep again, or try. She couldnt sleep. She just felt so bad for lying and tricking Alex. She almost didnt want to go to classes tomorrow. She sighed and fell asleep eventually.

-next day

Alex stared out at the window, pretty much entirely ignoring the teacher. Contrary to what he thought he should be thinking about, he was consistently drawn back to the idea of lunch.

He was hungry.

And sort of trying to figure out what to do about the spy.
