Magical Michief (For ultimus9)

"'Course. That's why they send spies in the first place. To figure out how to undermine us, analyze our weaknesses. It's brilliant, but it's still cheating." Gusts of air began to blow through the room as he scowled. "I hate cheaters. They're just people too weak to face up head-on."

Not like i had a choice in the matter... she thought. "Well I have to get ready for my classes. Bye." She said as she grabbed some clothes and went to go change in the bathroom.

She guessed, with these rumors, that a lot of people here would be on the lookout for her. She had to be extra careful now so that she didnt get caught. Try to blend in and act like everyone else.

When she was dressed and fully ready, she headed out to her classes. There wasnt a whole lot of people in these classes, as she expected. Back at Mistwood, the fire classes were the least popular among the girls.

Alex really meant what he said when he said he was going to find the spy. Eric had seemed a little off when it came down to it, but he shrugged it off as he pulled himself through his lessons. He'd deal with it later.

As her classes went on, it seemed like these classes were a bit behind than the ones she had taken in her school. So when the teachers asked for volunteers and asked questions, she would always go up and show off.

After a few of her classes, there was a break time. For the students to eat lunch and wind down before continuing their classes. She had heard many of the guys talking about the spy and wondered who it might be.

She was a transfer student, so it might make her seem suspicious to them if they found out. She got her lunch and decided to sit on her own and eat.

Alex plunked his tray down in front of Eric. "So, how goes it? Your ears still ringing?" He smiled. He has a sister, he thought, strategizing. Could she be the spy? He shook off his thoughts and continued. "So, you said you had a sister right? Water-based?"

"No. And yes." She answered as she ate. She was a bit annoyed as she wanted to eat alone. "Shes my older sister." She said with the lies. No one really knew about her other siblings as they did her, so it was safe to lie about this

"Okay, so, consider this. What's the best way to slip into a school, undetected, without anyone even noticing a difference?" he asked, oblivious to the annoyance he was causing.

"A good disguise?" She asked not really wanting to answer it. "Are you trying to accuse my sister of being the spy?" She then asked. "There are a lot of water based users there at Mistwood."

"But none who are genetically similar to you." he finished with a cutting hand gesture. "Your sister would know who you were, your idiosyncrasies, everything that makes you you. Plus the Illusion spell to make siblings look like each other is so easy, even I could do it. Which means..." he faded off as an electric connect-the-dots took place in his head. He stood up abruptly, using his magic to hurl his tray's contents into the bin. He shoved his chair back, stumbling towards the exit. "I-I need to go talk to someone. Be back in a moment."

This didnt sound good. He knew...somehow. she got her phone out and sent a message to Malinda. Why did you make me do this?! I think im in trouble!

She stood up to empty her tray and went walking until her next class..she was freaking out so much she had to calm down.

She then bumped into someone, another student. He looked like a punk too. "Hey watch where you're walking dweeb!" He said with a glare.

"Sorry sorry." She said quickly backing up. She didnt want to get into a fight with anyone.

"Yeah you better. Next time ill pound you to the ground!" He spat and stormed off.

Alex was walking back after speaking with the headmaster. The headmaster had dismissed his claims, finding them to be baseless. Fuming, he stalked his way back to classes. He saw some huge grunt picking on some other kid. This seemed like a valid use of energy.

With a sweeping gesture, he slammed the huge guy against the wall. He saw the guy try to retaliate with fire, so he sucked the air away from his hands. The flame wouldn't light.

"Don't try that again. I may lose it next time."

He dropped the guy, and stormed off to combat classes.

She went through the rest of her classes trying to be calm and collected. Malinda hadnt responded to her message and that worried her a bit more.

A few more hours or classes went by and she was exhausted. It was hard trying to act like a boy. A couple in this class were having a burping contest and she had to refuse. It was gross and she couldnt make herself burp.

She trudged along back to the dorms. She only had a few hours before night time so she wanted to be inside when the spell wore off.

And she had to deal with Alex, who may not have figured her out. She ipened the door and headed to her room.

(be back in... maybe half an hour?)

Alex burst through the door, slamming it behind him. He looked once at Eric, then, deciding he wasn't worth the time, flipped open his book, sighing.

"Are you okay?" She decided to ask almost regretting it. When she didnt get an answer she left to go to her room, closing and locking the door behind her.

(I have to go to.work. be back later tonight)

(k. bye!)

"There's no problem. Don't mind me." he called through the door. Yeah. Right.

She sat on her bed and checked for messages. Still nothing in return. She had to think smart about this: what could she do to get the blame off of her? She sent another message to Malinda: Can you cast an illusion spell to make it seem like I'm still there at Mistwood?

She had no idea if the message would even get to Malinda, or of she would even do this. She watched as the hours went by and day turned to night. The spell on her was gone and she was once again her normal self. She made sure her door was still locked before writing in her diary about todays events. With a sigh, she put her diary away, pulled the covers over and went to sleep.

(next day)

Alex banged on Eric door.

"Oi! Wake up! Come on!"

There'd been some sort of commotion near the courtyard, and the intercom had summoned all students to the commons, and somehow, some way, Eric'd slept straight through it. He hit the door again.

"Up! Now! Stuff to do!"

"Five more minutes." She groaned and turned over before he banged on the door again. "Ugh, fine. I'm up I'm up." She got dressed and got ready. She brushed her boyish hair, got dressed, and walked out. "What do you mean by stuff?" She asked

"Meeting." Alex said gruffly. "Believe me, I'm not happy about it either, but headmaster gonna kill me if I don't show up to another. Didn't say what it was about, just that it was to be immediately. Here." He summoned a gust of wind that conveniently combed its way through Eric's hair. "Thank me later. Head for the commons. You where they are right?" He turned and walked out into the hall, stepping into the elevator shaft.

It was too early in the morning by this time. Classes didn't start for another hour. She sighed and headed out of the dorms and towards the commons area. I don't think I would want a boyfriend after this experience She thought with a groan. When she made her way to the commons area eventually, she saw a huge group of students. She decided to stay in the back, not wanting to draw attention to herself.

Alex was, as per the usual, directly at front. Some woman was standing in the center, looking quite at ease for some reason. He couldn't figure out where he'd seen this person, as if the gears in his head were trying to work through jelly. Something to do with a magic school. He slipped backwards through the crowd towards Eric. "D'you know who that chick is?" He said, gesturing.

Elyssa was slightly taller in this form so she saw Malinda there with the head master. Malinda did look smug. When Alex came over asking she had to make something up.

"I think thats the Head Mistress. I only saw her once when she came to pick my sister up." She said lying through her teeth.

Malinda cleared her throat. "I was nade aware by my brother that some rumors of one of my students spying on you. I personally came over to quell these rumors. I would never sink so low as to try to cheat, or put such a bad reputation upon my school."

Alex gave Eric a sidelong glance. "Right." With the headmistress' words, the crowd erupted into boos. Alex stayed silent. For around three seconds. Then he barged to the front of the crowd, into the empty part of the commons.

"So, why'd you come all the way to Ironwood? Publicity? What are the rumors of high school magical students to you?"

(you can take malinda's character, i dunno her personality.)

Malinda looked down at Alex with a frown. "I take hard accusations about my school and students seriously young man. If someone is accusing one of my students of spying and cheating, then i will come to defend them. None of my students leave Mistwood without my permission."

Alex let the wind blow a little more fiercely. "Sure. No one leaves without your permission. The only ones to leave are the ones sanctioned by you. Like spies." He grinned at her scowl. "Push come to shove, you could even abandon the spy, say you don't know them. They'd be next in a long line of girls who tried to attend Ironwood with illusion magic."
