Magic For Sale

So focused on his weapon, Adenyyd failed to notice Adel's leg, stumbling over it. However she merely placed a hand on the ground, effortlessly cartwheeling away from him, her sword still held at the ready. "Very nice." Adenyyd complimented him, chuckling softly. She noticed the way his eyes lingered on her body, it was most likely a technique he was using but that didn't mean she couldn't take advantage of it. Posing slightly in front of him, she gave Adel a flirtatious smirk. "Like what you see, partner?" She spoke softly.

He managed to simultaneously blush, stutter, and go into attack mode. one sword strike at her unguarded side and he hoped that he'd never have to answer that. His thoughts consisted of OHDEARLORDSHE'SFLIRTINGAGAIN WhatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo? D-d-do I keep the fight going or no?

With a sultry laugh Adenyyd slid into a crouch, Cyfnos swinging to clash with Adel's sword. Both blades went flying into the air as she sweeped her leg out, slamming it into Adel to send him crashing to the ground. Raising her hand, Cyfnos fell directly into her grip and she swung the blade, aiming the point directly at Adel's throat. Did... Did she win now?

Adel blinked, blush only intensifying because of her laugh, and now he stared at the sword in front of him. And then gulped. "I yield. You're... really good, Adenyyd. Really good." He could probably learn from her, now he'd fought her. Yeah, she was amazing... probably she didn't need to learn anything... and it was getting really hard to focus because the laugh kept ringing in his ears and he had to shake his head slightly...

Slowly an unbelieving smile press across her face. "I... I won?" Then her eyes closed and she covered Adel's ears before letting out a piercing squeal of excitement that would have fit better coming from her Dragon form. She changed her hand position so that she was embracing him now, bouncing up and down slightly as she gripped him tightly. "I can't believe this, I actually won!" She said breathlessly into his ear. "Wait until I tell Aria! She'll be so proud!"

And disappointed in me, I'm sure... He shook off the slight twinge of disappointment, focusing mostly on congratulating the obviously happy Adenyyd. She deserved this, and he'd be darned if he ruined it for her! "Yeah, it was amazing... I had half expected you to make a beginner's mistake, but no... you kept fighting, and reacted quickly to everything I did. I'm very impressed with you."

She couldn't help but blush slightly at his compliments, her arms squeezing him tighter for a moment before slowly letting go. "Thank you Adel... It means a lot to me that you're impressed...." She said softly, a small smile on her face. It was really the first time that someone had said that to her... And it warmed her on the inside, in a place she didn't know was cold. Suddenly trying to blink back tears, Adenyyd swallowed hard and threw her arms around Adel again, hugging him tightly like she never wanted to let go.

"You beat me, with what I assume is little to no formal training, and saw my..." Now he looked to the side, "weakness and used it to your advantage. Most people are under the illusion that combat is some kind of... honor duel or something. You know that it's about victory over odds." He smiled at her, gently hugging the woman. "How can I not be proud of you...? Even if I'm not the one who trained you on it."

Now the Tears did come, streaming down her cheeks as she let out a choked sob. "You're proud of me..." She said the words disbelievingly, burying her face in his shoulder as she simply cried. But the Tears were not ones of sorrow. No, she was crying for the where you of no longer being alone, of having someone to be proud of her, impressed by her, distracted by her. Someone on whom she had an effect. Someone who noticed her...

She was crying? Hugging her worked for that, but he was already hugging her! W-were these bad tears? He didn't know... though somehow he didn't think they were. so instead he just ran his hand up and down her back in what he thought was a comforting way, ignoring the rapidly forming blush because... well... she was laying on top of him... Right, no. Ignore that. She'll get mad at you again.

With a deep shuddering breath Adenyyd managed to regain control of herself, sniffling and wiping her eyes and she pulled away from him, flushing slightly as she realized they were still on the ground. Clambering to her feet, she pulled Adel up with her and brushed him off slightly. Then, ignoring the tears of a moment ago, she smiled brightly at him. "Do you want to spar again?"

He blinked, surprised at her actions... she recovered fast. Well, it was better than crying, he supposed, so it was time to pay attention to her again. What... oh, she wanted to know about sparring? "W-we could, though I don't know if you want to go shopping for clothes or something..." He didn't care about it, really.

Adenyyd tilted her head to the side. She knew what shopping was, but.... "Why do I need to go shopping? These clothes are still good, and they fit me well. I see no need to replace them." For her, shopping was only a necessary activity when your clothes were ruined beyond repair and you needed to get new ones. Besides, she never had money, so shopping was more like stealing. But she didnt want to say that to Adel, aware that many people disapproved of stealing.

"So you have clean clothes to change into. I've got... about five different sets of shirts and pants." NOt to mention that dress wasn't appropriate combat wear... it would fall off way too fast and was too old to be enchanted. But new clothes could be enchanted with protective magics, ones that sucked in ambient or offensive magic aimed at her to fuel their protective natures... not to mention he wasn't sure if she was wearing undergarments, and those were important, right?

Adenyyd blinked at him in shock. He had five different outfits? But that was like... For a normal person! Shaking her head, she looked at the ground. "If you insist. However I still see no need for this." She muttered half heartedly, plucking nervously at her present clothes. She wasn't a normal person and never would be. There was no reason to treat her like one. She didn't need clothes, or much of anything at all really. All she needed was Adel.

Adel sighed but shrugged, "I can have my twin brother enchant the clothing so it stays on you, even when it get's ripped, and so that it'll protect you from magical attacks. A lot like Aria's dress and armor, actually. I thought you might appreciate the extra protection during combat..." And now he was looking to the side, blushing slightly and unable to meet her eyes. It was a stupid reason now he got it out, but...

"Oh." She blinked. "You can do that? I didn't know..." Then she had to look away or risk getting all teary eyed again. "Thank you for thinking about me like that... Its nice to know that someone cares..." A deep breath and a glance up at the sky, she wasn't going to cry again! Another deep breath and she was fine, looking at Adel with only a slightly watery smile. "Then let's go shopping."

He nodded, letting her take the front. The car was easy enough to deal with, but would he need to take his staff as well? Sure he had a lot of power, but could he control it... "Adenyyd? Don't transform in the middle of town... most people don't know about dragons around here." well, they thought of them as fictional creatures, and that was always a plus, as otherwise they'd have to prove the dragons were an endangered species...

Adenyyd nodded. "Of course, Adel. I would have done my best not to transform anyway, since my judgment is impaired when I transform.... Things that I might think are wrong now would seem perfectly normal to me as a dragon." However, she did take the passenger seat, letting Adel drive. She didn't say anything about it, a bit embarrassed about the fact that she couldn't drive... She knew she would have to say something some time, but not today.

He nodded, taking the driver's seat, and drove them into town, slowly. "Really? How does that work? Does your mind undergo some kinda change at the same time? Is there some kind of instinct that affects you at times? Uhh... you don't have to answer if you don't want to."

"Not exactly... It's just that, as a dragon, every feeling is more... intense." Adenyyd struggled to find the words to explain what she had known for all of her life. "Think of it this way. Emotions and feelings are energy, alright? And humans have some amount of this energy, and when I'm in my human form, I have only a little more energy then they do. However, as a dragon, I have so much more energy, or rather the capacity for this energy, then I do as a human. So if someone attacks you, my reactions in each form will be different since what I'm feeling is also different." She finished.

"Wow. That would impair judgement, if you weren't used to it." Maybe she needed to spend more time as a dragon... being unable to stay calm as necessary was not a good thing. Especially if he got captured and she needed to protect herself then worrying about him the entire time wouldn't be good. Of course, that worry was kinda on the backburner compared to the worry that she might need more help than he could give her.

Adenyyd shrugged, already glancing back out the window casually. "I've had it all my life so I suppose that I'm used to it..." She shrugged again before falling silent, a few minutes passing by without a word. Suddenly she spoke again. "Tell me about yourself, Adel." She said, her voice sounding strange. "I want to know more about my Dragon partner." She didn't turn to look at him but kept staring out the window, hiding her face and emotions from him for the moment.

What was with the odd tone of voice she had? Adel glanced to her before returning to the road. About himself? It was a fair question, he supposed. "There's not much to tell... I'm good at fighting, only really able to use a few spells... or I was anyway, and... not popular with the ladies. I'm actually the youngest, and... unlike my brothers my only talents really lie in the ability to fight. I have power, yes, but... no control."

"But I want to know more about you, what you like, what you think." Adenyyd stressed softly, her voice growing more vulnerable, more open. "I need to know who you are, Adel, because I've already shown you so much of me, but I don't know much about you." She fell silent then, eyes staring unseeingly at the car window and the scenery passing by outside.
