........................................................T.H E R.O L E P L A Y

Y.our pads press softly on the damp ground as you wander forward. The world is bathed in the darkness of night, but you can faintly see the outline of giant oak trees all around you thanks to the quiet glow of the moon. You've heard of this place; legend speaks of regal canines so powerful that even the trees bow down in their presence. Most loners aren't able to rally up the courage to travel this way, but there was something about it that always drew you in, and you - well, you couldn't resist. Suddenly, you become aware of a presence fastly approaching and the fur along your spine prickles. One presence quickly turns into two, you realize, and your heart starts to race; you are now outnumbered. You immediately stop moving and lower instinctively into a defensive crouch, preparing yourself for whatever was coming.

They halted. A pair of sky blue eyes to the left, and a pair of sunset orange eyes to the right.

Everything went quiet.

Two lupines nearly the size of horses stood about a tail-lengths away from you on either side. They were so close; you could almost feel their silent breathing on your neck.

"Welcome, traveler," the blue-eyed voice cooed.

"Which side will you choose?" the orange-eyed voice demanded.

RULES
Firstly (and probably most importantly) limit the power-playing and god-modding. You are not invincible; remember that. Secondly, when attacking someone else, you do not get to decide if they are hit; instead, they do. Thirdly, it is preferred that you write in third person and in the past tense (but if you are absolutely, absolutely opposed to this, I'm not going to penalize you for writing in a different person or tense). Fourthly, try to keep your posts consistently above 100 words (about 500 characters) per character. So if you are rp'ing three characters, you should have at least 300 words total in your post. This is to keep things interesting. It also forces you to think and come up with new ideas if you are not already used to this, which will then benefit the role play as well. Fifthly, do not join the rp with a character until that character has been approved by me (Madathi). And lastly, if you've read these rules, I'd appreciate it if you hopped over to our Characters page (linked below) and, in the same post that you list your character(s), let me know that you read the rules. If you don't do this at least once, I will assume that you haven't read the rules. Penalty for breaking these rules depends on severity. You are expected to accept your consequence in silence. Arguing or complaining only worsens the situation for you.

W.elcome, traveler, to the lands of the Forbidden Shadows and the Twisted Cacophony, the two "alpha" packs that have developed since the extinction of the humans. With their extinction, the wolves evolved, growing to be incredibly massive in size; they occasionally even stand taller than the average draft horse; the average weight of the wolves here is about 1,500 lbs and the average height is about 5 feet tall, but weight and height vary widely amongst the wolves that reside here. The Forbidden Shadows are known for their speed; they're bodies are generally sleeker and smaller than TC. They are courageous canines and proud to be who they are. The Twisted Cacophony are known for their strength and are naturally built larger than their opposers. They are ambitious and are known especially for their lust for power.

The two packs lived in peace for hundreds of years. However, the Twisted Cacophony desired more than what they had. Tensions have grown immensely since then, but war has yet to break out. Those afraid of the two powers have taken off, living as loners amongst the outskirts of the forest.

The land in which the two packs reside is known as Kadru (pronounced 'kay-drew'). It is a small island, about 500 square kilometers in size, located in the Pacific Ocean just south of what we humans used to refer to as Alaska. It holds a very mild climate during the short summer months of June, July, and August, the temperature reaching approximately 75 degrees Fahrenheit on average during the day and the mid 40's during the night. However, winters here can be brutal, reaching subzero temperatures of -10 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and as low as -30 degrees during the night. The spring and fall are always unpredictable; one day it could be clear skies and 40 degrees outside and the next day it could be 10 degrees with heavy snow, and then the day after that it could be warm again and raining.

16k0u29.png

The area is mostly forest, large oak trees standing one hundred feet tall everywhere you look. Stretching across the whole northern side of the island is a drop off known that falls about a mile down into the ocean. The island sits at a very gradual slant, lowering down into a sandy beach at the southern point of the island. The island is divided in half territorially; the border between the two packs sits across Athica Bluffs where it eventually meets up with Vetus Lignum. The border continues on the other side of Vetus Lignum, sweeping across the island all the way until it reaches the point below the Secare Rivers. The northern half of the island belongs to the Twisted Cacophony; the southern half of the island belongs to the Forbidden Shadows.

Abandoned Isles
Three small islands that are what they're named for; they were abandoned many years ago, holding little to no life amongst them. It is assumed that this occurred because of the geographical development of the Northern Cliffs, which made it difficult to reach the Abandoned Isles; the only way to get there now is from the northwestern point of Reyan Beach. Animals generally avoid traveling here because of the ominous rumors that float around amongst the packs about the horrid things that can happen here.
Akysh Gorge
A gorge that separates Kadru from Crusix Isle.
Athica Bluffs
A 40-foot cliff that separates the northern section of the island from the rest and also stands as a border between TC and FS. No water resides at the bottom of these bluffs; it is merely a cliff in the middle of the island.
Crusix Isle
A small, separate island sitting at the northernmost point of Kadru. The only way to find your way here is an opening where Kadru and the smaller isle connect on the eastern side of Crusix Isle.
Eastern Cliffs
Cliffs that begin at the northeastern point of the island, continue across a majority of the eastern side, and end where Mount Suvex also ends.
Krydirst Cove
A cove located within Reyan Beach and just south of the Forbidden Shadows' camp.
Mortem Crater
Literally a crater in the middle of FS territory that came to be because of a meteor. It is the site where many were killed, not able to get out of the way fast enough before the meteor hit, which is where it got is name, Mortem, which is Latin for "death."
Mount Suvex
One of the island's most prominent features, Mount Suvex is a volcano sitting on the eastern side of the island. Mount Suvex has been inactive for hundreds of years, but y'know - you never know.
Northern Cliffs
Cliffs that begin at the northwestern point of the island, continue across the entire northern side, and end at the northeastern point of the island.
Pool of Redemption
A small pool of water that has been separated from the ocean. It is salt water like the ocean and home to very small fish and algae.
Reyan Beach
A beach that starts where it meets with the Athica Bluffs at the northwestern point of the island and ends at the eastern tip of Krydirst Cove just south of the Forbidden Shadows' camp.
Sacred Isles
A set of four small islands that are rumored to have been a safe harbor for animals of all kinds during a time of heavy war many years ago. They are indeed a sacred place for the wolves of Forbidden Shadows. Not easy to get to, generally only superiors are allowed to make the journey to the islands, and only in a time of great need.
Secare Rivers
Three rivers that pull away from the ocean, cutting through the southeastern point of the island. Secare means "cut" in Latin.
Tatum Beach
A beach that starts where it meets with Krydirst Cove and the end of Reyan Beach at the southern point of the island and ends at the southeastern tip of the island, just south of the Secare Rivers. Its name, Tatum, means "safe" in Latin.
Vetus Lignum
"Vitus Lignum" is translated to mean "Old Wood" in Latin. It is a circular shaped clearing in the very center of Kadru, about 100 feet across from any point of the circle, and in the very center is a giant oak tree. It is significantly taller than any other tree on the island, and it is assumed to be the oldest. This clearing is generally considered sacred amongst both packs and it is a place where a truce is held between all animals; murder and maiming are not tolerated here (except, y'know, of your superiors just don't care). It is significant because every Alpha from both packs have been buried within this clearing for as long as the packs can remember. Anyone is allowed to pass through at any time, just as long as you don't kill anyone here.

Animals are usually abundant on this island, moreso during the spring and summer. You can generally find rabbits, game, birds including eagles and owls, foxes, and snakes, as well as many, many insects in times of possible desperation. Many of the animals and insects hide or hibernate during most of the winter, making them more challenging to find - but they're there.

And now, from here, it is up to you to determine what happens. Will Twisted Cacophony finally succeed in their lustful desires? Or will Forbidden Shadows prevail and wipe out Twisted Cacophony once and for all? Perhaps the loners will populate and grow into a third pack - and maybe even take over? You decide.

T.he first thing you need to do if you haven't already is read the rules up above. They aren't hard to follow, but they are important, so please read them. Then you need to set up a character on our Characters page. All of the instructions to do so are listed on that page, and the hierarchy within the packs will be listed there as well. You cannot join the rp until your character has been approved by me. After your first character has been approved, you are free to hop in! If you ever have any questions about the rp or just want to chat with the fellow members of this rp, waddle on over to the OOC page.

The world is beginning to recover from the impossible winter. The air is starting to warm and life is starting to return; hunting gets easier with each passing day. The average temperature sits at about 10 degrees during the day and borderline subzero temperatures during the night. However, spring always brings can unpredictable climate, so the wolves should not become too comfortable with warm weather. Spring also means more activity within the packs; they are less focused on survival and instead, with the growing tensions between them, are more focused on each other. One can never be too careful when it comes to always watching their back.

ALPHESS OF TWISTED CACOPHONY

T .he temperature was... warm.

Katja could feel it in the air when she awoke, even before she had opened her eyes; she could breathe in the scent of the earth, the grass, as the snow began to slowly - but surely - melt. It was the first day like this in way too long.

The Alphess rose from her spot on the muddy ground in her den and shook out her damp fur. It was not uncommon to sleep in the snow or the mud here; even with the best attempts at creating bedding, the cold, icy water would find ways to creep into their nests at night. As it turns out, in the land of Kadru, you had to either get used to it or leave. The gray wolf poked her head out of the small dome to see that others were already out and about, obviously enjoying the rare warmth of the early morning sun as well. There was still a bite in the air, but it was much less than what they'd been dealing with for so many months now.

Instead of approaching the other wolves, for the time being, she just lowered her haunches and sat right outside of her den where the rays could warm her fur, and she watched; it was very early for the pack to have so much movement, but it was expected. One had to take advantage of the heat when it was cold 70% of the year. Pups were scrambling about, toppling over one another while yipping energetically. A young mother was resting on the ground a few tail-lengths from them, dutifully watching over them as they played. Another group of older wolves were conversing several wolf-lengths away from the Alphess; she was just far enough away to be outside of earshot, but by the way they excitedly prattled on, she could assume they were gossiping as they always do.

It was a beautiful day. Even Katja could appreciate that.

Omorov made his way through the forest and finally broke away from it as the tree line faded from dense to sparse after another lonely night walk. The season had begun changing and it was obvious seeing as the morning now brought playful pups and early risers. From a distance, Omo saw the Alphess Katja warming herself in the morning sun, he turned to his right and headed towards a field that was close by to wash his fur with the deep snow. Omo could tell that a few others looked at him now with question ever since he disappeared for nearly a week on a so called scouting mission that he had took upon himself after a savage battle between the enemy known as the Forbidden Shadows and the pack he stood by, the Twisted Cacophony. That scouting mission was anything but that as he wanted to see what it was like to give compassion, even for the enemy. Now Omo had become restless but never tired, anger came quicker but he never could no longer use it. All that was on his mind was the she-wolf that he had saved and for once in his life there was something he could, to himself, personally and selfishly give himself to. But what Omo wanted to know was, how would she react to meeting him, if she was alive at all knowing that a demon had saved her. Omorov buried himself into the snow and rose out of it, shaking the snow off of him and repeated the process several time before being satisfied with his coat..

"Kiravay, how lucky you are to be here...alive and in still good health." "What are you talking about Servius?" "Do you not know who saved you? That, bastard Omorov, from Twisted Cacophony? He was the one to carry you here" "...........But, why...?" "Good question, we asked him the same thing and he replied with, Perhaps.....I really wanted to know, what it would be like.... to be something other than, a killer, slayer of life....a demon, for a moment in life." Kira played this conversation over and over every morning before anyone was awake as she would stare across the water from the beach. She hadn't even kept track of the days since she awoke from her wounds. though it had been a little while since the battle. Kira turned away from the water and headed back towards the den, the snow crunching under her paws...

Koryn- T.C.
Addressing- Madathi Madathi , Gradous13 Gradous13 (indirectly)

The male, without hesitation, rose at once and exited the cave. The sun's rays felt rather nice on his skin, all that sensory bullshit. Nature was but a toy, a device, and the sun ALWAYS felt nice. Was a wolf so crazy to think that it wouldn't? Was a wolf also not so self-conscious as to roll about in the mud and the snow to make its coat as best as it can? Why does it not make itself useful and sharpen its teeth? If Koryn were sentinel, that would be a priority. Not to go to war, of course, but rather to prepare for it. The foolish dogs of Forbidden Shadows were long overdue for their destruction. As a matter of fact, it had to be imminent. But perhaps if Koryn's packmates, as he thought, gave more care to the enemy at hand than to preening themselves like the daisies they strove to be, Forbidden Shadows would easily fall. The male stretched his russet-colored self, his golden eyes flickering in the fresh sunlight, and he decided that he must give his daily thanks. The male made his way to the den of the alphess and, at a respectable distance, bowed his head. "Dear alphess," Koryn began, "I pray that you lead our pack to a glorious day of growth, and may our enemies quiver in fear at our success."

Servius- F.S.
Addressing- none

What a pleasant days indeed. It always pleased the Forbidden Shadows alpha to see the first light reflect off oof the snow. A light breeze seemed to be blowing in from the cliff as well, perhaps a gentle reminder to move forward with the day. Easily one of the oldest, the male alpha found himself outside his den, simply looking at the changing weather. "and how it seemed only yesterday we were concerned for winter," he said to himself, looking at the rising sun all alone. He hated the thought of being alone, but he additionally hated the prospect of having someone that he loved more than they loved him. Nonetheless, everyone seemed to be that way, alone. Nobody seemed to love one another anymore. Perhaps many had been scared by Cacaphony's advances and scaring tactics. They had been reported to be more brutal than ever before. And as the populations may grow, the island does not. The thought of war nearly made the alpha shudder. His pack was not for war, but they would defend and thus fight if they had to. Nonviolence kills one's self eventually.

The guard had been waking up periodically throughout the night, for some reason he was unable to peacefully sleep. Eventually, the sound of pups playing energetically causes his hazel eyes to open slowly. With a toothy yawn, he slowly gets to his paws, stretching for a moment.
Once he feels as if he has stretched his muscles enough, he slowly steps out of his den. The scent of spring brought him comfort, spring meant that food would become plentiful. Soon the elk, deer, and moose will be giving birth, a prime time to hunt. He shakes his body rapidly, moss and dirt flings from his silky fur and onto the ground below him.
His hazel eyes scan the clearing, hesitating on all the activity within the camp. When the heat began to rise, so did energy. He soon found the commotion to be to much, and decided to patrol the boundaries. He swiftly pads across camp, stopping a few times for the trail of pups that energetically tumbled about. He simply watched them, picking out a few that looked as if they would grow into the rank he held. His twitches his ears in dismissal, before continuing.

His gaze slowly sets on Koryn, who was telling their dear alphess good morning. Convel watches for a moment, only catching a fragment of Kroyn's introduction. With a soft scoff, the elite guard begins to slowly make his way out of camp.
Convel approaches the boundaries of camp, intent on scenting and possibly hunting a bit.

The silver she-wolf had been awake for some time, yet hadn't felt the need to rise. Eventually she began to hear the chatter of other wolves, and decided it was finally time to get up. Rising to her dainty paws she releases a toothy yawn, before gently padding out of the den. Her hazel eyes scan the camp, watching as a pair of pups begin to playfully fight. With a gentle sigh, the she-wolf averts her gaze to her alpha, Servius.
Silently, she approaches him from his right flank. She heard him speak, and hesitated slightly when her alpha seemed to become uneasy. Yet she decides to continue forward, "Alpha." she says softly, dipping her head with respect. "Spring is finally approaching, perhaps tensions will ease." she continues, looking in the same direction as him. The past months have been riddled with conflict and hate, causing tensions between the two packs to become increasing harsh. "Do you have any duties for me to fulfil at the moment?" she asks, turning her gentle gaze towards Servius.

Servius- F.S.
Addressing- Genere Tasteless Tasteless

As he admired the warming climate, the sudden presence of the she-wolf made the alpha a bit disturbed. Was this scene not meant for him alone? He preferred it that way. "Dearest Genere," he said softly, not averting his gaze, "is it not in good spirits to disturb me as I enjoy the scene?" He was always quick to be provoked, seemingly, but he was very calm in how he talked. The Sentinel beside him was quite trustworthy to him. "But I see it's morning, and your commanders are perhaps slow in awakening. I hope you slept well, dear." Servius turned to face the fae, noting her rather clean shape. "But with Spring comes the ability to move quick. The snow will not hinder them going forth. Perhaps if you would like, I would check in with the den mothers and see to it that they are healthy. Your commanders, however, know of the plans to come. If they are not awake yet, perhaps you can convince them that it's morning," he joked rather poorly.

T.he TC Alphess glanced over at the Sentinel as he approached, but only for a moment before turning her gaze back on the rest of the pack. She acknowledged his remark with a simple flick of her long gray tail without saying anything else; she had never been known for her grand soliloquies. Instead, she was suddenly paying attention to another wolf that was meandering to her left. Her ears were swiveled forward towards him as he passed. Katja wanted him to know that she was watching him.

Then after a very long moment, once he was out of sight, she turned her orange eyes back on Koryn and finally replied firmly, "Twisted Cacophony will go down in history as the destroyers of our enemies. I will not accept any other outcome." Her face was expressionless, but the sudden intensity of her reply made it seem genuine. Her gaze slipped over in the direction that the black wolf had gone moments prior, and she suddenly stood. "Excuse me," she murmured as she began to march off to the left and around her den, towards a field that rested nearby her den. Omorov was cleansing himself with the snow, and she was approaching him towards the end of it. Katja stood several meters away from him, towards the edge of the field, and paused momentarily, allowing him to finish before speaking up. "Where have you been?" she demanded. Her eyes were slightly narrowed with curiosity, and her tail swished softly at her heels, anticipating his response.

Omorov shook his fur rapidly to get the last bits of blood and muck off of his coat. He paused to look upon the ground and noticed that there was more blood than dirt, but before he could check himself over for any unknown wounds or injuries the commanding voice of the Alphess Katja demanded an answer to her question "Where have you been?" Omo turned around and bowed low as he always did "Alphess, I've a report for you..." His deep voice began, cutting straight to the point "....I followed the trail back to the Forbidden Shadows, they have used the same trail they came in from but on my return I went west and the forest there has grown very dense. If we were to strike against the FS, we could send a large group through there at night, we would be undetected as long as the group was comprised of veteran fighters." Omorov was firm and convincing in his report and he wasn't lying, all what he said had happened, but it wasn't everything. He did not dare to speak of what he did, however he has been wanting to scout the west woods for quite sometime now and he had voiced this several times in the past so he took the opportunity to do so after bringing the shewolf back to her FS comrades "Do require anything else Alphess, as I will do so" was his common finishing statement... KIravay finally made her way back to main living area of the FS. She gazed upon her Alpha, a Sentinel spoke with him, as she approached the Den she stopped and bowed to the Alpha "Good morning Alpha" she said wearily. It was obvious she was still exhausted from her wounds. Kira began to make her way back into the den for an attempt at sleep though recently it has been difficult for her as bad dreams about what happened and seeing the face of her dead friends plague her mind. It was true, she was great sentinel but she was never able to handle death and she has alway hid this fact but now it was coming into the light... JokerValentine JokerValentine

Shax
The Elite Guard
Unlike everyone else in the pack, Shax's den was not built in the clearing that the pack resided in.Every wolf knew that Shax didn't sleep with them, but very few knew where she actually stayed. There were rumors within the pack that she slept in a tree, or with bears, or she didn't sleep at all. None of that was true however. Her nest was farther in the forest, within a limestone cavern entered only by an opening in the ground found under a fallen tree. The cavern was nothing too crazy, but it was big enough for a wolf her size to walk around in. Glow worms illuminated the cave at and a small pool in the corner provided her with water during the night. The cavern protected her from the snow, but melting ice meant a wet cave. The inside of her den was decorated with prizes from past battles. The trophies ranged from teeth to tusks to antlers to skulls. Her favorite prize of all was a dried out lion paw.

Going into the heart of the pack was always a dreaded activity, especially on a day as warm as this one. The wolves of the pack would be out and about, gossiping, flirting, speaking amongst themselves. Shax had little problem with this, it was easy to ignore people that stayed out of your way. What Shax was really dreading was one of the things she disliked most in life: pups! To a wolf her size, a pup was as easy to crush as a bug beneath her monstrous paws. Whenever she walked through active areas within TC territory Shax's eyes were constantly plastered to the ground, watching for any pup that strayed into her path, however uncommon it may be. Most of the time mothers kept a careful eye on their pups when Shax was around, but recently
the cold weather forced many mothers to remain inside their dens. Now that the stabbing fangs of winter were beginning to subside, mothers were leaving their dens for the first time in a while and were desperate for social interaction, reducing their mindfulness for their children. And that was exactly why Shax would not be going into the den area this fine morning. Instead, she chose to move around it. Shax lowered her nose to the earth, taking in the scents of the living. She was searching for one scent in paticular, and as soon as she found it she latched onto it, disregarding any other smells. The smell beckond her forth and she followed.

It took only a few minutes to track down her prey. There he was, cleaning his dark fur of the same muck that once coated her own pelt. Shax placed a paw forward, about to make her way towards Omorov before the Alphess of Twisted Cacophony entered the picture. As the scene unfolded Shax became increasingly more amused. The Alphess questioned Omorov about his extensive absence and after a moment Omorov replied. Shax truly enjoyed that moment, as few things more satifying than knowing the truth behind a guilty man's lie.

Before the Alphess had time to push him any futher Shax revealed herself. Her expression remained it's normal scowl despite the wicked smile that formed inside of her and only grew stronger when her yellow eyes glided over Omorov. Shax's gaze may have wished to linger longer upon Omorov, but her eyes ended their search on the Alphess. Shax craned her neck to look down upon her Alphess, an irony Shax felt was incredibly amusing. Everyone had to look up to Shax, physically more than metaphorically. She was the largest wolf in the pack. Not even Omorov beat her in size, although he was a close second. "Alphess," said Shax, the word dripping from her tongue like venom. "I apologize for the interruption, but I need Omorov to accompany me on a patrol. I've found signs of loner wolves hunting in our territory. Omorov is a much better tracker than I and I fear that the wolves may still be within our land."

K.atja began to consider his response when their conversation was interrupted by Shax, another one of her Elite Guards. Her tail lifted and flicked slightly with immediate irritation, and she fought the urge to lash out impatiently. However, never once throughout Shax’s whole spiel about the trespassers did the Alphess pull her cold, unforgiving stare from Omorov. “That does sound urgent,” she stated matter-of-factly. After a pause, she finally pulled her eyes away from the black wolf and shifted them towards Shax. “Go,” she huffed sharply, waving them off with her tail. She began to turn her back to them, but paused again for just a moment, as of considering something. Katja’s gaze returned to the gray wolf and she quipped, “One should take care not to interrupt her Alphess when she is having an important conversation with another wolf. Don’t forget your place, Shax.” She was mostly just frustrated that she didn’t get to finish her conversation with Omorov, and she needed the she-wolf to realize that.

As Omorov finished his response to the Katja's question Shax came into the picture obviously against what the hierarchy despised, interruption of a conversation held by the Alpha or Alphess. The cold stares from both didn't make Omo unsettled, it was more irritating than anything. "I apologize for the interruption, but I need Omorov to accompany me on a patrol. I've found signs of loner wolves hunting in our territory. Omorov is a much better tracker than I and I fear that the wolves may still be within our land." Shax stated to which Katja would reply in agreeance and a sharp "Go." But Omo knew better than what Shax had said, it was clear she was after something and that something could very well be what Omorov did not want coming to light. Once the Alphess had disappeared from sight and hearing range Omorov turned around and moved towards the opposite side of the field from. The half leg deep snow crunched when his paws wound get to the deeper layers, otherwise the snow was very powder like. The warmth hit him as the sun slowly crept through the sky. Everyone loved the warmth and warmer seasons, but he didn't as he much prefered to cold and freezing winters. Omo walked with Shax next to him, they were the same height, at least from what he could tell and she was on slightly heavier in mass, all in sheer muscle weight as neither of them had much fat...

"What do you want, Shax?" Omo asked in regular tone as he didn't care for being snarky or in a way to which his tone would have some bite behind it "I am no fool, you know this and you're after something" He was certain now that she knew, the question came down to this, what was going to be done with the information at hand...

Shax
The Elite Guard
Shax closed her eyes and nodded understandingly to the Alphess, seemingly apologetic, least until the smaller wolf turned around. As soon as Katja's eyes turned away from her Shax's frown twitched up into a smirk. Katja was simply too easy too fool, and her attempts at dominating Shax were nothing short of pitiful. It was obvious Katja was aware of Shax's disregard for authority, but the intensity behind it was hugely underestimated. It was taboo to ever go directly against an Alpha, so taboo that stories were specifically created to scar pups while they are at their most impressionable stages of life. Unfortunately, Shax was never one for stories. She feared no Alpha, especially not Katja. No matter how intimidating Katja tried to be, she was no wiser than any other wolf. Her position as Alpha made her lazy, made her think she was untouchabe. She may have been a good fighter once upon a time, but by now any member of the Elite Guard had far more training and experience fighting than she. Katja was simply too young to be a good Alpha. She was no wiser than any other wolf in the pack, and due to her duty as Alpha she spent nearly all of her time within the clearing, lounging and ordering around other wolves around. Perhaps she went out to hunt from time to time, but hunting was left mostly for the lower positions. However, experience is what creates wisdom, and every order she commanded upon a wolf made them all the more wiser. Katja must have been unaware, and even if she wasn't she would never admit it, but being made Alphess at such a young age was beginning to cost her dearly. Every wolf she commanded was experiencing far more than she ever had.

Shax rolled her eyes, moving on to the more pressing matter at hand: Omorov. The two walked in silence for a bit. With the conversation they were about to have it, it was vital no one would hear. "Are you planning on going to see her again?" Shax said, turning her face towards Omorov. Beneath the shadows of the trees Shax's haunting yellow eyes seemed to glow, filled with malice. "Check in on your little damsel?"

As the male addressed the other wolf, another sudden disturbance arose his morning meandering. "Ah, awake is the very nimble Kiravey," the alpha said with kind intentions. The alpha would've continued with the discussion, but she turned her back on him and began to walk away. "Are you not going to let me reply?" the alpha questions rather puzzled, "I do love the good morning, indeed I do, but is it not proper to perhaps hear your alpha respond? Come now, you seem troubled," he said, noticing from afar that her wounds had not quite healed. It seemed quite improper to just pass the alpha by and say a few insincere words. It was a mild thing, of course, but it mattered to the alpha.

"Are you planning on going to see her again?" Shax said, turning her face towards Omorov. Beneath the shadows of the trees Shax's haunting yellow eyes seemed to glow, filled with malice. "Check in on your little damsel?" "What did you say?" Omorov asked as rage built "Well? Are you?" Shax questioned again, Omo scoffing at the notion "I'm not and Idiot Shax, of course not! Are you going to report this? Something tells me no and that you have something twisted in mind" Omo replied as the two walked further on.The woodland enclosing around them as the pair walked deeper into the foliage. A sinister grin grew on Shax face at the last bit that Omo had said "Well, let's hear it, your marvelous plan to save my hide again......That would be two that I owe ya now if whatever it is works out" Omorov and SHax had an interesting relationship, normally the two despised each other yet tolerating one another's presence yet they had a knack for getting each other out of real shitty situations...

Kira turned back around and bowed once more before she moved next to Servius and sat next to him. Her head hung low as she gathered her thoughts. Kira took a deep breath and sighed in attempt to calm her nerves "I...I don't know what to begin with...My closest friends, they are all gone now, I see their faces, I can still smell their scent, even those who had died long ago..." she said to her Alpha who she deeply respected as he was one to always make time for his Pack even on an individual level "It's been harder each day that passes and then there is the elite from Twisted, Omorov... I just....I, I wish he never brought me back here!" Kira exclaimed " Why was I always the one to come back unharmed from the battles? I've only ever suffered minor wounds until this one and this one isn't even the worst I've seen.......The luck I have both works for me and against me..." A wave of shame and guilt flooded her mind as she continued to stare at the ground "What am I to do, Servius?" Kira's thoughts were so distracting she didn't even notice the way her voice and body trembled with overwhelming emotion. Kira was never cold hearted but she hadn't ever shown much emotion as she had always hid what her true feelings were, and now they could no longer be contained...

T.he Alphess returned to her den where she had abandoned Koryn and found him still nearby. She seemed to be quietly approaching him, the previous conversation she'd had with her two Elite Guards not revealing itself whatsoever in her unusually calm expression, and then the she-wolf barked, "Koryn, come with me." Without saying much else to him, she veered to the left, picking up her speed to a brisk walk, and swiftly continued toward the exit of the camp. The she-wolf lowered her head slightly for barely even a moment, her mouth parting open to taste the scents on the air. Katja managed to catch a smell, a very familiar one, and immediately took a sharp turn to track it. During all of this, she didn't look back to see if Koryn had obeyed her initial command and was following; she figured he would most likely listen. He was a fiery personality, but he was not disloyal. Eventually she finally was within view of who she had been seeking out and she automatically slowed.

"Convel!" she called out to him; he appeared to be patrolling or hunting. "I need you to do something for me." Once Convel was within a few feet from her, she stopped and peered over her shoulder, finally checking to see if her Sentinel was present then she turned her head back around and met Convel's gaze. "Tonight. Omorov has returned and reported that, while tracking the Forbidden Shadows, they seem to enter and leave from the same entrance towards the southeast. On the western side of their camp, the trees are very dense, so we could use that to our advantage and stealthily enter from the west, possibly taking them by surprise." She paused for a second to read the expression on his face. "I need you and a Sentinel to enter their territory from the west and let me know what you think. Don't actually enter their camp; I am looking solely for your opinion on Omorov's observation. Of course you must be as stealthy as possible; do not get caught. And," a soft, sadistic smile touched her lips and lit up her orange-hued eyes, "if you happen to accidentally kill any wanderers from the Forbidden Shadows while you're so near to their camp, I wouldn't be that upset." She huffed very quietly out of slight amusement, mostly to herself. "You are to leave at moonhigh. Understand?"

The male got more than he ahd ever bargained for, with the alpha giving him the demand of coming to her aide, or rather the pack's. The male of course followed behind her, quickly taking note on everything she mentioned. Now it was the time to prove to everyone that Koryn himself was easily qualified to be one of the elite members of this pack. As he heard her spoken words, the male quickly followed with his assertion. "I do indeed understand. I would be most honored, dear alphess, if I were to be there to do my duty to this pack. As much as i would like to kill the weaker wolves of this island, I will surely restrain myself and report back to you what I see," he said rather confidently, again bowing his head. He did indeed have great respect for his alpha, and last thing he wanted to do was to show himself to be unworthy of anything at all.

Even if the alphess was not directly talking to him, the male did everything in his power to assure his alpha that there would me no mistake of his loyalty.

He was walking silently, headed for the border of Twisted Cacophony territory. He was hoping to possibly find a wanderer or perhaps a trespasser to maul.
He inhaled, catching a strange scent. Suddenly, he heard his Alphess bark his name. He cranes his neck, his hazel eyes curious. While she approaches, the elite guard turns to face her fully.
She begins to explain the situation and how she wanted Koryn and him to trespass and find this dense area. He carefully sits back in his haunches as she continues to speak, "You are to leave at Moonhigh, understand?" Convel met her gaze calmly, twitching his ears in respect. "Yes, Alphess" He bowed his head slightly.
The thought of trespassing a slaughtering a rival wolf made his stomach bubble with enthusiasm. His hazel eyes were lit with curiosity and impatience, his drive to kill stirring harder than usual. "I will be sure not to disappoint." He says firmly, his voice a guttural growl.
He enjoyed killing more than he would admit, not that any wolf had enough courage to ask him. Convel once kept track of his kills, yet eventually lost track after fifteen or so. He enjoyed watching his victim die, their eyes and muzzle twisted in agony or fury. Most didn't wait to watch the life drain from a creatures eyes, yet Convel lived for it. He was a incredibly handsome, had he been raised elsewhere perhaps his hunger for killing wouldn't be as powerful. Perhaps he would already have pups, a mate, a family. Yet he couldn't bother himself with finding love or having pups, not while his drive to kill was so high. He had much more to do, and a name to build for his future young. A name that wolves feared, Convel would go down in history, with his pups to continue his legacy

K.atja swiveled her ears towards Koryn first and then Convel as they spoke, and then she nodded as they accepted their mission, her gaze flickering between the two of them. "Good. I expect a full report from both of you in the morning." Her eyes eventually landed on Convel and she blinked calmly. "Do come back alive." Her voice had an unusual undertone of softness to it, a brief moment of lacking self-control like she was admitting to a rare level of benevolence underneath the rigid, unforgiving shell she usually strode around in. She turned her eyes on Koryn for a moment as well, and then she spoke up again, referring to Convel, "Were you hunting? May we join you? Today might be the first day in a while that there's a lot of movement in the trees, and it would be wise to take advantage of that." She wasn't asking permission as much as she was showing him mutual respect in return for his dutiful reply. The tip of her beige tail brushed against her heels, swaying slowly behind her, as she awaited his response.

His powerful gaze glanced towards Koryn, before he rested them on Katja. Suddenly, Katja's tone shifted. Her words lingered in his mind slightly, her tone was different in that sentence, a tone he hadn't heard from her before.
His mind wandered for a moment, until she spoke again. He nodded briskly, getting to his mighty paws. "I don't see why not." He hesitated for a moment, "I had been tracking a herd of elk when you caught my attention, I'm sure they haven't gotten far." His voice was rough, as if he was constantly growling. Perhaps he was, no one would tell the difference due to him being rather quiet. Convel was always a mindful Guard, doing what he was told without question. He never spoke too much or too often, perhaps that's why Katja liked him.
The large brute tipped his muzzle upward, inhaling before bringing it to the ground. Their was the scent of birth and sweet milk that hung in the air, which meant an incredibly easy kill, as long as the mother was in labour or caught off guard.
Convel was lucky to be born with a rather abnormal pelt, his beige, gray, and black pelt blended rather nicely. The only what resided on his muzzle, which wasn't much of a downfall whatsoever.

A.s soon as Convel informed her off the elk herd nearby, she could smell them. Springtime was her favorite time of year because of the newborns. Not only were they easy to pick off if they got separated from everyone else, but it also exposed their mothers. The female elk would go out of their way to protect their young from possible hunters or even just guide their young back to the herd when they become curious and wander the other way. The idea of warm, gamy meat in between her jaws, brushing against her tongue immediately made her start salivating.

"Why don't we separate and surround the herd? Maybe we'll be able to pick out a straggler and corner them. I'll go to the right." Without waiting for a response, arrogantly assuming they would listen, she began padding off, slowly so as to be quiet but with direction and a purpose. Her head lowered instinctively as she followed the scent of the herd, and her ears pivoted forward so she could listen to every sound coming from in front of her. As she drew closer, with every step her body pressed further and further to the ground; her pace was suddenly rhythmic, almost graceful - but not quite; she was an aggressive wolf, so every creeping step was a little too aggressive, a little too decisive to be lithe and supple. At this point, her ears began to subtly twitch, listening for the sounds of her packmates so she would know if they were nearby.

Snow Devil
Hunting: Madathi Madathi JokerValentine JokerValentine Tasteless Tasteless Her scent has almost no traces of wolf, so sight and sound are the easier ways to detect her. She does still have a scent, mostly traces of fur and old blood, but she mostly smells like pine at the moment.

Sheera had been wandering in Twisted Cacaphony territory looking for a target when she scented three wolves moving away from the central pack area. She started to turn and ghost away, as three was generally too risky, but then she caught a particular scent. She threw her head back and drew air over her scent glands. When she lowered her head there was a feral gleam to her eyes. She had smelled the alpha before of course, but usually in large hunting groups or too close to the where the pack was based. Now she was away from the main group with only two other wolves, only one of them being an elite guard. She loped closer, careful to avoid making noise. They were hunting elk it seemed, which seemed like an excellent opportunity. She was glad again that she had masked her smell with pine and unless one of the wolves noticed that a strong pine scent source was moving a little too much they were unlikely to smell her coming. She carefully moved close enough that she had line of sight on the alpha making little noise besides the slight crunching of a few dry leaves. They were too aware of their surroundings and close together for her to strike now but if she bided her time the alpha might leave herself open when she went in for the kill or to feed.

Every fiber of Convel was focused, he watched Katja quickly move into position. She was powerful, not elegant by any means. It was not Convel's place to judge his Alphess, he also felt no need to have his pelt ripped off.
He followed her orders, deciding to head forward, yet as Katja grew farther away from her guard, Convel felt uneasy. A burning feeling of being watched made his pelt grow hot, his ears swiveled continuously, attempting to catch any out of place sound. Nothing.
He inhales, unsure if there was possibly a threat within the area. Nothing was unusual, despite the scent of pine being quite pungent. He pushes his worry aside, deciding the scent was only due to Spring.
His mighty paws carried him forward, tail held evenly in a focused manner. He crouched to the ground slowly, one ear was swiveled in Katja's direction, the other was facing the potential prey.
For some reason, Convel couldn't shake the underlying feeling of an intruder, a threat. The massive brute continued to scent the air, yet the sweet milky scent of elk calves was overpowering any other scent. He hugged quietly, straining his hearing for anything, something out of the ordinary. He kept his haunches taught, ready to spring to life at any moment. His muscles quivering, anticipation setting in.
Convel felt the need to get closer to his Alphess, yet he refused to break her orders. Instead, the might beast decided to slink towards darkness, an area he would blend in more subtly. He was slughtly closer to Katja now, yet he was hidden. He kept his muscles taught, paws extended forward to aid in a burst of speed. While he couldn't hear it, nor smell it. Something was nearby, something he couldn't exactly find. So he remained blended into the shadows, ready to either take the herd by surprise, or to surprise the intruder. Either way, Convel was ready for blood.

The Elite Guard
"Well, Omorov" began Shax, suddenly turning quickly to cut Omorov off and block him from walking any further. "I want you to go find your little damsel." She turned away from him, taking a few steps away from him before turning to look back at him. Her movements were smooth, serpentine. "Out of any wolf in our pack, you are the only one who has the chance to worm your way into the Forbiddon Shadows. The chance may be small, but by what I saw, your actions have roused the curiosity of their Alpha, and if you play your cards right you might just be able to get them to trust you enough to learn something." Shax flicked her left ear to rid it of a buzzing fly. "What I'm saying is I want you to be my spy. If you agree, I'll keep Miss Princess from snapping at your heels and this secret of ours will stay exactly that, a secret."

The yellow diamonds in her eyes gleamed with malign intentions.. She took a seat a few paw steps away from him all the while maintaining an unwavering eye contact. "Oh, and Omo", Shax said, mocking an affectionate tone, although her facial expresson suddenly became stoic. "I want you to help me kill Katja."

Koryn did in fact agree to the hunt willingly, but found himself rather occupied in his own mind that he did not speak much. He followed the orders, and knew every word spoken, but he said not. He thought for a moment about how best to achieve his goal, to please the alphess, to prove to her that he was a very loyal wolf, and perhaps no other could compare. His mind focused in when he realized that they were to hunt an elk. it was as if he had been asleep, yet awake, a daydream as the humans once called it. he realized that, before the group, there was a large elk, waiting for the kill. Instinctively, the male decided to divert himself, heading to the beast's flank if it so ran.

Yet as the male found himself alone, raising his snout to the air, he felt something was off. The scent of pine, a species that was so sparse in the area, seemed to stench powerfully. He thought very little of it, but he acted alert. It was just those devilish details that became significant. But Coryn knew that the forest was home to loners, a known place where the crafty exiles sought to pick off their rations by thievery and being a genuine thorn in the side. But the male remained poised for anything that came his way, elk or not,

Koryn- F.S.
Addressing- Kiravey Gradous13 Gradous13

The alpha felt quite sympathetic deep down for the wolf's losses, but to him, there was perhaps a lesson to be learned. "As my father once taught me," the alpha decided to begin, "scars are but for old fools that have no other stories to tell. True, perhaps every wound makes one stronger, but wounds do not signify glory or courage. The only glory I truly see in battle is preventing others from having those scars, from experiencing the pain." Clearly the wolf was troubled by having survived her ordeal. "We are not that pack," he said, staring into her eyes, "we do not glorify our dead, we mourn them. We do not celebrate the lives we take, we justify it. Leaving behind our earthly shell is but a fool's legacy. It is retaining the shells of others when they most need it, that is what defines us."

Servius always felt to be such an orator, but words were but words. "What you must do is accept your survival as what it is, and your losses also. But know this: you shall not blame yourself for what has happened, for being helpless. Because the dead are gone, and as our hearts bleed for their deaths, we must remember that there are those that remain, Kiravey. There are pups so young and so foolish they don't know about what lies out there. There are the wolves so frail and so old that they think the kindest of the others. And there are your living friends, your family, that lives on. The question is: shall you lie down crippled by your current losses, or bare your teeth to defend what remains?"

He felt convinced his point had gotten across. But he had one more thing to say. "As for your savior, do not accept him as a gift. Perhaps he has seen the err of his ways, but they are known to play on emotion. Remember what we defend ourselves from. The Omorov character could be a hoax. Do not let him deceive you, dear."
