Pedro glared at her some and nodded "I don't know whose he is but I know he isn't mine." He spat watching her go taking a deep breath and another swig from the bottle and sat down staring at the wall

Max frowned and pressed the call button again before running out and yelling for someone to come help him. She stood out of the way as the nurses rushed in while she watched then scared for Richard.

She shook her head and headed straight back to the hospital to sit with the kids and try to keep them feeling as normal as possible through this but she could hardly keep herself together over it all and once they’d both fallen asleep she stepped outside and broke down in tears.

it was a short while before they let her back in, reassuring her that it was just because he was so exhausted but as long as he rested enough he’d make a full recovery in no time.

Max sat her place looking herself over as she did her hair for her official date with Richard. She knew it was silly to be so anxious but she wanted to look perfect for him especially after everything that had happened. Richard had been in and out of the hospital this whole time due to his body being so worn out and now he was officially cleared.

Pedro sat at his home with the kids smiling softly at them as they played on the ground together. Javi was doing better for right now but he would soon have a surgery to try and remove the cancer. He hadn't really talked to Carmen much since the divorce fibalized and he had been on a downward spiral since it all happened, but also didn't know how to feel towards her. He loved her, he always would, but part of him felt maybe this was better for her.

Javi got up when pearl and lily stoped paying attention to him, walking over to his dad and reaching to be picked up. “Papa what time is mommy coming to pick us up?” He asked him in Spanish and cuddled into his lap. “Cause I want mac and cheese with you.” He told him quietly frowning some as the doorbell went signalling carmen was there and ready.

Richard was a mess. He’d gotten so nervous he’d had to change his shirt several times and he was about to go get in the car but his phone started ringing and he saw it was lizzies name, answering it quickly. “Hey sweetheart, what’s up?” He asked her softly as he went to spritz his cologne on quickly, frowning hearing her crying. “What’s wrong Elizabeth?”

Pedro gave a heavy sigh and picked up his son holding him close "I don't know buddy but we can make some here in a -" but he was soon cut off by the doorbell and gave a heavy sigh. He walked over with Javi in his arms opening the door to see Carmen there. He missed his kids dearly and having to give them up was difficult now.

Lizzie sobbed down the line as she heard her uncle's voice "Uncle....Uncle Richard....I...I saw Mommy....she hit daddy.." she said sobbing still at the image in her brain

She smiled at her little boy and put her keys in her pocket. “Hey there buddy, you and your sister ready to go? Charlie is gonna take us to Cracker Barrel for some dinner okay?” She told him watching him wriggle to go get his sister and she was left with Pedro. “Hey. They behave?” She asked him quietly. To say she missed him was an understatement but he had let her go and she was too damn stubborn to ever go back to that life. It wouldn’t be fair on the kids either. “How are you?” She asked him.

“alright. I’m on my way over okay? Just stay in your room and I’ll be there.” He promised not thinking twice just wanting to get his daughter out of that environment heading straight down to his brothers place forgetting to text or call max to let her know

Pedro gave a nod frowning softly as he saw the man in the car "They were good, make sure to get Javi some Mac and Cheese...he was wanting some before you can by." He explained biting his lip some "Im doing alright...just working is all." He muttered "See you've met someone....he good to the kids?" He asked

Max sat at the restaurant for hours waiting on him. She tried to text or call him but nothing was working he wasnt picking up. She bit her lip hard as she got up and left after 3 hours of waiting letting a few tears fall. She was worried about him scared he might be hurt. She went home though and thought about what if he had purposefully stood her up, what if she had maybe been a bit too clingy with him this entire time.

Carmen frowned some “alright... yeah I did... Charlie, he learnt sign language to be able to talk to lily and he’s patient with Javi and when I need help around the house or anything.... he’s there.” She muttered not meaning for it to come out so harsh but he really was treating her well. “He’s gonna take me and the kids to the beach next week for their spring break... soon as we get back I’ll bring them over to yours okay?” She mumbled.

Richard had arrived and argued with Nina and his brother for a solid hour before taking Lizzie home with him, getting her settled into the guest room and laying with her, reading her a book before she eventually fell asleep and he just watched her, max not crossing his mind while he focused on his daughter being safe and getting some rest.

Pedro frowned at how harsh she was and gave a heavy sigh nodding a bit "Good...you deserve that." He said quietly looking at the kids as they came running out "I've um...I've got a good pay check coming in soon. Let me know what you need fot Javi." He said quietly frowning as he saw Charlie hugging his children "I'll see you later...have a nice dinner." He muttered

Max tried calling a few more times before she finally gave up and went to bed having a hard time actually sleeping with all the worry she had at the moment

Richard woke up early and headed downstairs to get some coffee and juice, seeing how many missed calls he had and felt the realisation drawn on him that he had never told her, immediately trying to call her back and frowning when she wouldn’t pick up just rubbing at his face.

carmen frowned some and nodded. “Alright, I’ll see you soon.” She muttered and wandered back over to the car, getting in and letting Charlie drive them to the restaurant, staying quiet the rest of the night, getting the kids dressed and ready in the morning, getting the bags in the car and went to Charlie downstairs, slipping her arms around him. “You ready?” She asked him quietly, resting her chin on top of his head.

Max had woken up early in the morning frowning as she saw Richard's name flash on her phone. She just let it ring and went to clean herself up from last night sighing heavily as she saw how awful her makeup was and how badly her hair looked.

Charlie smiled softly at her and gave a small nod "Sure am what about you?" He asked happily placing his hand on hers. He had met her at the store and quickly fell for her. He liked her kids a lot they were so sweet and he was happy to have her in his life. He knew of her ex but he wasn't worried about it.

Richard sighed heavily watching the stairs as he heard Lizzies little feet coming down and glanced over at her. “Hey kiddo... you wanna go get some breakfast?” He asked her wanting to go over and see max.

Carmen nodded and kissed his cheek. “Yup. Vacation well needed.” She murmured smiling some, going to get the kids buckled into their car seats then got in herself and watched out the window at the planes taking off from the Air Force base, sighing quietly.

Lizzie nodded smiling happily at him hugging his leg tight "Uh huh, Uncle Richard? I want to stay here with you." She said quietly nit letting go of him

Charlie nodded happily kissing her cheek gently before he took them all off base and went to the beach "They ever been to the beach before?" He asked

She nodded. “Javi might not remember but we used to go all the time.... Pedro got bad again just after he was born so... we stopped going for a long while.” She shrugged and just watched Charlie smiling at him some. He’d been around her whole life but after moving in with her mom when they separated she’d got to know him again and they’d gotten to uncovering buried feelings.

Travis walked to Pedro once he got in for work and smiled some. “They got you scheduled for piloting next few days, this afternoon you get to rest out the new model.” He told him knowing his friend needed something to get his mind off of his home life.

Richard smiled and got her to go get her shoes and jacket. “I know kiddo, we’re gonna talk about that later okay?” He promised her and got himself together texting max to say he wanted to talk then put his phone away and got his shoes and coat too.

Charlie nodded some and held her hand the rest of the way before they eventually made it there. He got out with her and helped Javi out as well "Take it easy kiddo okay? No going in the water without either me or your mom." He said softly to him before he walked with him down to the beach

Pedro gave a small smile as he spoke to Travis on his front porch "Oh man she is a beaut, I can't wait to take her up." He said quietly as he thought it all over. He had been itching to get in the air again and he couldnt wait

Max looked at his text and gave a heavy sigh. She texted back an simple 'Okay' and waited to see if he would show up or not to actually speak with her, however he never did.

Carmen smiled some watching the kids trying to go quickly. “Hold up. Javi why don’t you go with Charlie and me and Lily will go get us checked in okay?” She murmured to them and kissed Charlie’s cheek taking lily with her up to the hotel.

Travis nodded some. “Good. I’ll see you at the hangar.” He told him and left him to it for now.

Richard got Lizzie to breakfast and sighed heavily getting a call while he was there from hake to bring Lizzie over so they could all talk so he did just that, sitting down opposite him and Nina while Lizzie went to play in her room. “She’s my daughter and man I will pay you both for everything you’ve done but... she wants to come live with me and you know what? I want her to come home to me too. It’s quite clear you both want your own kids and I’m not letting Lizzie grow up in an environment where she gets shoved to the side because of a new baby which I know is likely to happen.” He muttered

Jake frowned glaring at him some "And if you get sent back?! Is she going to come live with us and we be her parents again because you're too fucked up to take care of her?" He spat looking at Nina who just said nothing "She is our daughter!" He said frowning more when Nina finally spoke 'Take her...she deserves a mother who loves her...and a father too...I can't do this anymore.'

Charlie smiled happily and took Javi down to the beach setting up for the girls and playing in the wet sand with him making sand castles smiling wider at the little boy as she squealed with joy. He had always wanted kids of his own but he had never met the right person to have them with.

“She is your niece and I’m incredibly grateful to you both for everything you’ve done but we should never have done it the way we did.” He muttered shaking his head and listened to Nina for a minute just nodding at her, calling Lizzie to come downstairs to them and pulled her in close. “Hey sweetheart.... so..: we have something that we need to tell you... and it’s very very important.” He murmured to her. “You know how you call me uncle Richard and Jake your daddy?” He asked her watching her nod. “Well.... it’s.... it’s really the other way round.... Jake is your uncle, Nina is your aunt and I’m your dad sweetheart.” He murmured to her slowly.

Carmen got their cases in the room with lily then took her back down to the beach and smiled some watching Charlie with Javi, laying down to sunbathe for a while and relaxing.

Travis looked up when he heard Pedro coming down ready to go up in the new plane. “Hey so just take it easy on the speed and altitude. They’re still working out a few kinks but she’s gone up three times today already so she’s all warmed up for you.” He assured him, taking his report about his first flight off of him to go file, glancing over to see him getting in the cockpit for take off.

Lizzie looked at him in shock looking back at her 'parents' then back to Richard. She hugged him tight and cried softly into his shoulder "I knew it." She whispered to him not wanting to let go of him at all right now.

Pedro nodded some "Yeah I got it." He said with a bit of a cocky tone. He made his way over to the cockpit and got in. He got ready getting his helmet on and soon enough he was off in the air. He chatted for a bit loving the way it felt up there but soon his mind drifted to Carmen and how they were the first time he had gone up with her there.

Richard frowned some and just pulled her in close, swallowing the lump in his throat. “What do you mean you knew?” He asked her quietly, making her look at him just holding her to him protectively still and glanced over at Jake, Nina was already leaving the room and he just shook his head.

Travis was over on the radio ready to start making notes for the report. “Hello. Earth to pascal, everything going smooth so far?” He asked him, looking over the diagnostics that were running on it. “Take her a little higher but take it easy alright?” He told him. What hadn’t been spotted was some idiot had been illegally flying a drone over the area and once they’d told him to start bringing it in for landing it got pulled into one of the engines, causing all the systems to start malfunctioning and after a panicked couple minutes the engines cut out sending it plummeting. The team radioed in the medics and they were rushing down to where the plane had come down seeing Pedro still in the cockpit. “Get him out. Get him out of there!” Travis yelled at them. If didn’t look like he was conscious and he couldn’t even be sure if he was breathing or not.

Lizzie pulled away some and looked at him with the same face as her mother's just about "You treat me like a daddy would...and...and I just knew it." She said hugging him tight again not wanting to leave his side.

Pedro frowned doing as told and still a bit out of it "Roger that." He said not noticing the drone until it was too late. He tried to pull his ejection handle put it was jammed and soon he was down. He gasped some his head bleeding bad through his helmet and the last thing he remembered seeing was Carmen's face

He sighed quietly and rocked her gently kissing her head repeatedly and held her to him. “When you were really super tiny, your mommy left us. I think she got scared.... but I had to go away and when I came back I couldn’t look after you. So we agreed that your uncle Jake would raise you as his daughter.” He explosive and rocked her slowly, kissing her head again. “Come on kiddo, let’s go get your stuff okay? Then we can go home.” He murmured.

Carmen smiled taking javi into the water and helped him swim a little. “Good job mijo.” She cooed to him seeing Charlie was sunbathing while lily made sand castles, turning her attention back to her youngest before she heard Charlie calling her name and saw her phone in his hand frowning some, going to answer it. “Hello? Carmen Pascal speaking.” She said down the line not having changed her name for the kids’ sakes.

Lizzie gave a small nod smiling some before she ran off to get her things. Though she stopped at the stairs and frowned softly going back to Richard "Uncle Richard? Do...do mommy and daddy still love me?" She asked quietly. It was going to take her some time to get used to calling him Daddy.

Travis frowned and took a deep breath "Carmen?! Carmen shit he was doing a test fly and a drone flew into the engine. Carmen I know you aren't on good terms but Carmen he....Carmen I think he'd dead. They didn't let us go he wasn't breathimg. Shit Carmen you're the only one he has." He explained frantically to her

“Travis what are you talking about?!” She asked him panicked getting him to slow down and start again, feeling the color drain from her face when she heard him properly that time. “Alright. I’m going right down there.” She told him quickly and hung up looking over at Charlie. “I need to go. Right now. There’s been an accident and they don’t... they don’t think he’s made it” she told Charlie quickly and quietly. “My mom is coming down here anyway today can you watch them for a little bit til she does?” She asked him, thanking him when he agreed and grabbed the keys chucking her clothes back on before legging it to the car and speeding on her way back home.


Richard smiled at her. “Hey. Family is family sweetheart. Of course they still love you.” He murmured. He knew Jake did but Nina was another story. She didn’t need to know that though. He waited for her to be ready and said their goodbyes before taking her home, helping her unpack her things and shook his head. “Oh Lizzie we gotta go in running really super late for a very important meeting come on. I’ll get you ice cream on the way back.” He promised, getting her in the car and driving straight to Max’s place

Trqvis rushed up to Carmen when he saw her walk in and quickly took her to the ICU waiting room "He is still in surgery, I haven't heard anything else."
