Pedro gave a small laugh and nodded some "Yeah...I told em fat chance...no way I would leave you by that point." He said quietly shutting his eyes tight trying to forget about the pain

Max sat next to him on the bed and frowned some as she played with his fingers "What are you going for? How long are you going to be there?" She asked softly as she looked at him

She frowned shaking her head some. “This is ridiculous ill be right back.” She murmured kissing his palm then got up to go get a nurse, starting to get angry when the first one brushed her off. “We were promised he’d get some more painkillers an hour ago! He’s in agony!” She snapped at the second one when she went to argue it. “Please, he’s not gonna get better if he’s in that much pain right?” She muttered.

He frowned a little. “I can’t tell you why... but I’m gonna be gone for three months.” He told her quietly. “I’m not on front lines or anything. I’m just gonna be stationed there for a while.... I might have to take Lizzie with me.” He explained

The nurse frowned as she listened to the woman and shook her head some "M'am....he is maxed out right now, we can't legally give him anymore." She explained softly to him

Max frowned and moved to sit on his lap giving a heavy sigh as she wrapped her arms around him "Oh....okay well if thats what you want to do and have to do then I'll be okay. I'll keep down the fort here at home." She said softly trying to not sound upset about him leaving again

She frowned and paused for a moment before really losing her rag this time. “Then why the fuck is he being left to lay there in that much pain?! I understand being slightly uncomfortable but this goes way beyond that.” She pointed out. “I can’t just sit there and not do anything while he can barely see straight from the pain.

He frowned and held onto her, his hands caressing up and down her back. “I know I know and the last thing I want to do is leave you here for three months but I’m not sure that I have a choice. I’m not allowed to take non spouses with me.” He pointed out. “And if I left Lizzie right now... the courts when I got back would never let me have her again.”

Max gave a nod and kissed him gently "I know love, and I understand all of it. You don't have to explain it to me." She said softly stroking his cheek gently "Just don't go find some weird German broad to replace me." She teased

The nurse gave a heavy sigh but nodded a bit "Let me inform the doctor okay? I'll see what we can do." She murmured before she walked off

He frowned and kissed her nose, keeping her face squished between his hands. “I could never.” He promised, kissing her softly and keeping her to him, his hands moving all over her teasingly.

Carmen frowned going to sit back down with him and reached into her bag to pull out the photo album she’d brought with her. “I found the one I was looking for Pedge... from when I got pregnant with javi to just after we finally got to bring him home.” She murmured and held his hand tightly while she helped him look through it to try and keep him distracted.

Pedro looked at the photos and saw how happy he was letting a few tears fall "He was so cute..I mean he is cute now, but look at him." he whispered seeing a photo of him laying his head next to Javi on the couch smiling wide. Suddenly it clicked, everything came flooding back to him up until the crash. He looked at Carmen heartbroken squeezing her hand tightly "I am so sorry for everything I ever did to you Carmen...I love you so much and...god I should have never pushed you away or signed those papers." he whispered

Max smiled happily as she watched him some "I love you Little Dick." she teased using it here and there after she had heard his mother call him that on video chat "So you think maybe next summer we could do a trip to Scotland? A family get away?" she asked

She frowned, gently setting the book down and moving to lay with him again keeping him close to her. “Shh, Shh it’s alright, we can’t change how shitty you were but this Pedro here. With me right now. This is the Pedro I know and love... I told you, I’m not going anywhere, I’m here to stay okay?” She murmured softly to him, kissing his head and just holding him until his doctor finally came in and she moved off the bed, staying close.

Richard groaned as he rolled his eyes and flipped them over to pin her to the bed. “We can do that as long as you never use that name again.” He told her, a glint of anger in his eyes but he was still smiling.

Max gave a small laugh and smirked at him some "No promises." she said gasping as he got a bit rougher with her. He was always a very loving and gentle man, but she was kind of digging this little bit of aggression from him

Pedro gave a small nod squeezing her hand again letting the doctor look him over "I love you.." he whispered to her as they messed with his chest tubes frowning when they said they were going to take him in for X-Rays

She frowned and kissed his cheek “I’ll be right here okay?” She murmured, glancing up when they said she could go with them if Pedro wanted. She knew they wouldn’t normally allow it but the last thing they needed from him was him to panic again.

Richard grinned and kissed her a little more desperately as he started going in to get her clothes off until he heard a quiet voice near the door and he quickly moved off, sitting up to see Lizzie coming into their room looking scared. “What’s wrong sweetheart?”

Pedro nodded some and held her hand again "Please come.." he whispered knowing he would be much more relaxed with her there.

Max quickly sat up some and frowned a bit seeing Lizzie at the door "Come here sweetie, whats wrong?" she asked quietly patting the bed watching her scurry over and get onto the bed

She nodded and squeezed his hand, following as they started moving him to go get the xrays done, smiling as she watched his fingers fiddling with the sheets, gently giving his hand a squeeze. “I’m right here okay?” She murmured kissing his cheek and waiting around the corner in the little booth while they got him set up to have the chest X-ray, making funny faces at him to help him relax

Richard frowned as she curled into him crying. “Hey, hey, Lizzie sweetheart what’s wrong?” He asked quietly and rocked her gently while he held her to him, “It’s okay, I got you pumpkin. You want me to come sit in your room a minute?” He asked her gently.

Max frowned softly as Lizzie shook her head some and stayed close to Richard before pulling Max close as well. She held the little girl with Richard looking at him worriedly "Lizzie? Baby girl whats wrong?" she asked softly pulling away just a bit so Lizzie could talk to them.

Pedro tried not to laugh as he watched her. He let them get the X-Rays and as soon as they were back in the room he pulled her close to him "Carmen....please...come home, stay with me." he whispered

Richard frowned and rocked her gently just keeping her close until she eventually calmed down a little bit. ‘I had nightmare that daddy died’ he frowned and just held her tightly kissing her head repeatedly. “No baby girl I’m right here. Right here princess.”

Carmen smiled and kissed his head. “Let’s get you home first and then we can talk about it okay?” She murmured tiredly and leaned back trying to get some rest in until his doctor came back in looking like he had bad news, just sitting up and squeezing his hand tightly. “What’s the verdict?” She asked him frowning “why cant her breathe?”

Max frowned some and held her close "He is right here sweetheart, he isn't going anywhere." she whispered to her moving away some more so she could have her daddy cuddles.

Pedro frowned some looking at the doctor with a worried expression "Doc? What is it?" he asked quietly just hoping it was nothing severe

carmen frowned as he looked between the two of them while he pulled files out and she waited patiently for an answer, squeezing his hand again and leaned back a bit kore, rubbing her face and worrying about him, staring at his monitors while his doctor started to speak.

Richard frowne rocking her gently and kissed her head trying his best to soothe her until she fell asleep in his arms and he looked over at max sighing heavily. “I’m gonna go lay with her til she’s definitely properly asleep. I’ll be back okay?@ he said quietly to max before taking her or bed.

Pedro watched as he put up the X-Rays along with some test results giving a heavy sigh "Spit it out please!" he said becoming impatient as the doctor set everything up to explain to them.

Max gave a small nod kissing his cheek gently before she let him leave for the time being

Carmen frowned some and squeezed his hand. “Relax.” She coaxed gently.

“The good news is that the infection has gone down completely. You should be able to start physio tomorrow... bad news is that we thought your breathing difficulties were related. They’re not. At some point down the line in your military career, I don’t know when, there’s no medical record of it, you were exposed to a toxic amount of gas? It’s been slowly eating away at the tissue of your lungs for a long long while now and it’s finally being noticed because you’ve been on bed rest.... this is only going to get worse until we can get you a new set of lungs but that won’t be until it’s a last resort.” He explained. “If we can’t get you a new set then we will try our best to keep you comfortable until your lungs give out.” He explained quietly.

Richard day with his daughter for a while just watching her and hoping she was finally getting some kind of rest until he went back to mad and ran a hand through his hair. “She woke up again... she’s been thinking about one of my old assignments.... when I came back worse than ever.” He explained to max quietly. “But it wasn’t with the military so it was all a bit messy and there was a lack of communication and I almost got killed because of my bosses mistakes.”

Pedro frowned and took in a sharp scared breath looking with Carmen with saddened eyes "How um...how common is it for you to get a good set of lungs?" he asked quietly squeezing her hand tight when he said it wasn't as common as they'd like it to be. He gave a small nod and let a few tears fall as the doctor left "I'm going to die...that fucking mission coming back for me again." he whispered

She frowned some and moved to lay with him again, holding onto him tightly and kissed his cheek repeatedly. “No. No you’re not gonna die. I’m not gonna let that happen.” She promised and thanked his doctor as he left then turned to him again and just held his hands tightly while she sat watching him, swallowing back tears. “I wanna get you home real soon okay?” She murmured gently to him worried sick about him now, trying not to cry.

Richard day with his daughter for a while just watching her and hoping she was finally getting some kind of rest until he went back to mad and ran a hand through his hair. “She woke up again... she’s been thinking about one of my old assignments.... when I came back worse than ever.” He explained to max quietly. “But it wasn’t with the military so it was all a bit messy and there was a lack of communication and I almost got killed because of my bosses mistakes.”

Max frowned some and pulled him to lay with her "Its going to be okay babe, she'll be okay." she murmured kissing him gently before she cuddled up close to him "Get some rest, you'll need it." she said softly to him

Pedro frowned shaking his head a bit and kissed her forehead gently "Talk to me beautiful don't you dare hold it in." he whispered letting a few tears fall "We'll be home soon enough with your little ones yeah?"

She frowned shaking her head as the tears finally spilled over. “I don’t... I can’t do all this shit without you and I’m not gonna lose you now.” She whimpered holding onto him tightly, burying her face into his shoulder and held him tightly. “I love you pedro. The kids need their dad as well.” She was still crying into his shoulder while she held onto him.

He didn’t need to be told twice, slipping his arms around her and falling asleep not long after, snoring loud through the night

Pedro held her close and kissed the top of her head repeatedly "I won't leave you ...I promise." He whispered to her

Max woke up in the morning to find Lizzie in their bed cuddled up to Richard laughing lightly. She got up and took a quick picture of them before she went to the bathroom

She just nodded and held onto him while she lay there. “We should never have gotten divorced.” She muttered frowning while she played with his fingers.

Richard groaned some as he woke up glancing at the time and got up, leaving lizzie tucked in while he went down to Mac slipping his arms around her tightly.
