Just so that she didn't have to deal with him if they had to fight.

It's a small example, one that doesn't fully make Skyla an antihero but its worth noting that moral ambiguity within Skyla

I see what you mean. That's a sort of thing the that an antihero that would so, so it's a display of ambivalence.

Yeah. It's also part of the change that's been mention in Skyla's sheet after Mika's death.

She's slowly becoming more of an antihero

So we'll be seeing Skyla do things that would normally be out of character for her more?

Possibly, if things continue like this c:
Sometimes I end up forgetting the remember how Skyla must be taking Mika's death. It's hard to tell because she's really good at seeming composed. Grief is more obvious in characters like Mei. She accidentally calls Domori Jin, and is doing things that she used to do with Jin with him. I feel bad for her and Skyla. They've both lost someone close to them due to the Death Knight.

Yep, grief is dealt with in different ways, some more obvious then others

Besides, Skyla has to look composed. Everyone's basically adopted her as the 'leader' of this little entourage lol

Yeah, I guess I could say that it was Mika before, but now, she's been forced to take it on following his death. Rai and Mateo seem to look to her for decisions most of the time, so leader is definitely the right word for it. I even refer to them as the "Skyla Group"

If that's the case, the stress of leading this group, the internalized pain of losing her best friend and lover is bound to overwhelm her at some point

Hopefully Ren can provide her some emotional support when he gets introduced.

On Mateo's part, it's not just Skyla. He's looking to the adults for answers. First, he followed Mika around and his decisions, but now with him gone he's kind of migrated to Skyla as the big sibling figure. Early on in the story, he wasn't ready or mature enough to make the big decisions on his own. He was naive, innocent, and had a level of self-loathing and low confidence that didn't allow for that. He still has his problems to work through, but he's definitely starting to come into his own now that he's forced to mature and grow up. Things are getting so dire that it's not just a fun little adventure for him anymore. He's learning responsibility with the events of Luminosa, plus now he's made a deal with Serena that he'll have to deliver on, adding on some responsibility that the others don't share or really know about.

Now that he's maturing, and becoming more sure of himself, he's starting to need confirmation that he's doing the right thing from the adults in the group less and less. He's full on leading the charge to save Emmerly, trying to work out the final plan on that, and when we get to the desert chapter, the others will be full on depending on him because he actually lived in the desert for majority of his life and knows the dangers and lifestyle. He'll be more mature and grown at that point and will have to lead them through the trials of the desert. With the changes going on with him, hopefully he'll be grown enough to help take some of that weight off Skyla's shoulders, since he'll be doing a lot of leading for the next few events.

If that's the case, the stress of leading this group, the internalized pain of losing her best friend and lover is bound to overwhelm her at some point
Though, with all of this talk about Skyla's mental stability as the leader of the group, its making me think a lot of the show RWBY (I don't know if you guys watch it). This recent season has been talking a lot about Ruby's mental stability as the youngest person on the team, but she's the leader of the team and how making all the tough calls that haven't necessarily worked out in the past has weighed down on her to the point where she's just mentally broken. I love the way it's written from what I've seen of it, when the show has a history with not so good writing, and I really hope Skyla doesn't get to that point with all the stress of leading the team.

My boy Mateo is spreading his wings now. I can't wait to see what he becomes from here on out. It's not surprising that he's maturing at a fast rate. Ever since the creation of the search party for Skyla, he's been getting put in a lot of perilous and intense situations. And usually, it's be the adults that would handle it. But poor Mateo, he's been stuck in the middle of all of it various times. He's seen his friends come close to death many times, one actually died, and he's come close to ending up the same way many times.

But, even during all of that, he's had to make tough decisions and actions that could have molded his mindset, and as you said before, he's becoming much more sure of himself. I've seen that Mateo's confidence has improved drastically since the tournament. He's also become a lot more capable of handling himself and doesn't really go to the others as much unless it's for their opinion, not so much for guidance.

I love seeing my boy finally branch out. Who knows, as his mental growth continues (and his physical growth), I could see Mateo becoming a big leadership figure in the future.

I've never seen RWBY before, but I can see how Ruby's storyline can relate to Skyla's current condition. As a leader, almost all of your successes and failures seem to rely on your decisions. If you do something wrong, most leaders would feel guilt, as they believe it's their fault. And in Skyla's case, the consequences could be much more dire. Casualties, a major loss of something, or the ones who look to her for guidance could lose faith and trust in her. It's hard to tell with Skyla, but you can tell that she's hurting. And if she keeps going along with no sort of healing (not physical), we could see her at her breaking point soon.

I've decided to not go the fully evil route with Cedric. So when I get home in gonna rewrite his sheet some

what did you think of Mana's curious sniffing of Niko lol
Lol She's so funny. Though, I love how she's still friendly to him even if she might be curious about all the scents on him, and the Cabrera scent that would be similar to Mateo. And probably a lot of other scents as well, like Sebastian and other Lucero's. But even if she's curious she's not bombarding him with questions. Instead, she's just being friendly. Also, the little slip up is adorable, even though Niko really wouldn't mind her being a demon. I mean, he's friends with a Cabrera which are worse than spirits in the eyes of Luminosans.
