Graded [Kuridan: Yale Village] Spider Plant Soil

Nikita
d24635bb90a84611b403fcd3837c7c72dc823ebc.jpg

A shovel, one with metal, that wasa good weapon in Nikita's mind. Well ashard stick or stick with a rock tied to it was a good weapon to her so the standard wasn't high. Still the drillbur were attacking and they must being the things messing with plants. Though right now Nikita had to defend herself from the one coming at her, but she had never fought before. Nikita had not lived in a violent place, well nova used violence, but her island hadn't been violent and what she knew of the outside world was not violent. Still with a stick how to hurt things was not complex and pokemon were tough.

Swing away that was the plan hope it went for her and hit it out of the air or slam diwnnon it's head which the metal end. While she had no combat abbilities or skills sge had something she could try [ percision E [ Strength E ] [ Athletics F ] and finally [ Super strength F ] all used together to strike the drillbur

Actions

Use [ percision E [ Strength E ] [ Athletics F ] and [ Super strength F ] while weilding the shivel to try to hit the mole creature targeting her.

Aiden watched in alarm as Viole’s water jet knocked the first mole (#1) back, narrowly preventing it from clawing into his chest. The creature screeched as it was sent sprawling, and Islwyn followed up with a powerful jump-kick, slamming it against the wall. It was injured but still moving, slowly trying to rise.

Aiden barely had time to process the close call before another mole (#2) popped up from the soil nearby, glaring at him and Euthalia with wild, rabid eyes. Euthalia was still trying to recover, her roots torn and damaged, her breathing ragged. He could feel the urgency, the need to protect her.

Without thinking, Aiden reacted. His stinger flicked forward as the mole lunged toward them. He aimed to strike the side of the creature, hoping to drive it back before it reached Euthalia.

Aiden’s wings twitched, his body tense. He wasn’t a fighter, but he wasn’t going to let this creature hurt her. He braced himself for whatever came next, ready to use his stinger again if needed.

Actions:
  • Honeybee Stinger Strike - Fighting Style [Natural Weapon] F, Continuing [Poison] - using his stinger to inflict continuous poison damage after one strike - Grade F - 0 Post Cooldown

Nikita was successful at giving the mole a good whack with her shovel. Especially the superstrength sending it back a fair bit after it'd lunge at it, essentially allowing her to play baseball with it as the ball and her shovel as the bat. That said, the sturdy creature seemed to be getting back up and ready to go for a second round...

Gudina
5L2NipH.jpeg

Only for Gudina to appear, having woken up from the noise. Seeing the weird creature in the moonlight, she'd shoot some webbing at the creature (don't think about the how) which caught it. “What's going on, what are these?” She'd ask, suggesting the creatures were new to her.

Then again, it seemed like time was of the essence. “I don't think that'll hold it for long!” She warned Nikita, upon seeing the mole starting to break out of the webbing already.

Keone Nagendra
awldLOf.png

A bit further, Keone was struggling to keep hold of the mole, as its scratching at her snake-skin started to hurt a fair bit. The mole seemed to be getting crushed slowly, but Keone was starting to bleed more and more at a similar pace...

A bit further, Aiden managed to stop mole #2 just in time with his stinger. Whilst it didn't seem to harm the mole much at first, it'd at least stopped it. Islwyn was able to jump in just in time to stop mole #3 from reaching Euthalia... though it seemed like with mole #1 back in action, they would soon be overwhelmed...

Until Euthalia finished casting.

Vine Trap – Magic B, Control Environment D, Flora/Tree Affinity D, Nature B, Tangle Affinity 1 – Character uses their connection with flora to have it hinder their opponents. - 1 Action - Grade B – 4 Post Cooldown

Vines shot up from the ground, wrapping themselves around the moles and eventually strangling them to death one by one. Although it also left Euthalia rather out of breath from exerting herself so much and so rapidly.

“What... what the hell are these?” Those with [Nature] knowledge might start reaching the same question. As up close, they seemed more like carnivorous moles than anything else. Yet, well, if they were, it wouldn't explain how (or if) they'd been the ones affecting the soil to begin with.

That said, whilst Islwyn and Aiden were able to catch their breath and think it through (or check up on just how badly injured Euthalia still was), Nikita and Keone still had to struggle about the moles they'd been facing. Unless one of the others would be able to help either of them out (it'd take 2 movement actions for Viole or Aiden to get to moles near Keone or Nikita, leaving 1 action).

Viole

Mention: Elvario Elvario , Karcen Karcen Nikita, Naythophyl Naythophyl Aiden

Despite everything, Viole's willingness to help and everything he could not bear to shoot another water jet yet. The target was too close to his allies even if his current magic didn't have much range if he started shooting with that in mind now, he feared it would become a habit even when his magics became greater. So he did not shoot, what did surprise him though was Euthalias vines coming out from the ground and choking the living will out of the monsters before them. With the ones before them dead, only two that they knew of were still alive. The ones up top which their companions were holding off. "Aiden can you take care of the other one, ill take the one near Keone." Viole said before running off to Keone who was slithering and choking her prey, albeit with what Viole saw she was struggling as she herself was hurt a bit. Thankfully as Viole was a construct he did not know what being tired meant so he ran again, this time directly to Keone, and as he was closing in he began to prepare his water jet only to unleash it as he stepped up to her tail towards the #3 mole via one of the ways he could reach it.

Actions:
1&2. Move towards Keone
3. Shoot Water Jet - Magic [F], Affinity {Water} [F], Focus [F] - A jet of water forms and shoots out from one of Viole's pointer fingers, though it doesn't have any power after a certain range at really close up it's a useful tool for cutting up metal parts. - Grade [F] - 1 target, 5 ft range, 1 target, 1 post duration, immediate area - 0 Post cooldown. At Naked Mole Rat thingy number 3 near Viole.

Smacking the not drillbur across the face and sending it flying had seemingly not knocked it out though with the help of gudina coming out and using web shot the not drillbur was stuck and Nikita had a little breathing room. She looked around taking in the others were dealing with othersand keone was struggling with the claws of hers. Nikita wanted to run over and help but the not drillbur that was in the web was getting free fast. Nikita had to figure out what to do and the answer was obvious.

" SOMEONE HELP KEONE! she called our unaware somone seemingly already was doing that.

Nikita moved to the not drillbur and raised the holding it like a down pointing spear and she brought it down on its neck trying to take its head off. She was using [ Super strength F] [ percision F ] [ Strength F ] to try to make up the difference between no skills to fight and the not drillburs defence.

Actions

1.move to mole 4
2 use super strength F, strength F, percision F to try to cut mole 4's heads off.

“Probably with some help, for a bit, as it seems I stopped loosing sap...” With the 'bleeding' of her sap-stream stopped, she'd at least not bleed out.

Keone Nagendra
awldLOf.png

Meanwhile, Viole had made it to Keone. Managing to either jump up the higher platforms or run around quickly, he'd make it to Keone in order to be break the tie between her and the mole creature. His attack, basic as it may be, was enough to finish off the mole before it could finish off Keone. That said, the snake would immediately uncoil and grab her stomach, which was bleeding (along with parts of her tail). “Fuck... that hurts... bloody bastard soil creeping fucking... ugh...” She'd grumble between pained grunts. “I don't suppose you've got bandages on your..?” She'd ask Viole, feeing a tad woozy.

Gudina
5L2NipH.jpeg

For a second, it looked like the mole heading for Nikita would be able to duck under her attack, but Gudina managed to come in with the assist, shooting another webbing at the mole's feet, which caused it to be stuck in place and become an easy target for Nikita to finish it off.

“What in the world are these..?” She'd ask, looking at the defeated mole in a mixture of shock and confusion. “I swear I've never seen creatures like these before... what in the world are they doing in my fields..?”

They'd be approached by Islwyn, helping Euthalia walk, although she was shocked at the state of Keone. “What the hell did that thing do to you!?!” She wanted to rush in and go help, though she didn't want to drop Euthalia either. Hopefully Viole or someone else had it covered for now.

Euthalia, however, had noticed one thing (Nature C + personal experience). “They weren't eating my roots. They were just destroying them. I think it's the same with the plants. They're not mere pests, they're purposefully destroying these crops, for some reason...” She'd mumble, confused as to why and how (and still in some pain). Still, she wanted to share this information as soon as possible, fearing there might be more of these. “We'd need to think of a way to protect the farm against them, if not for an inbound second wave, then for whenever creatures like these might pop up again.” A shiver went through her leaves upon the thought of another wave of these creatures arriving. They'd not be in a good shape if that were to happen.

Nikita

" These aren't pokemon " was the thought going through Nikitas mind over and over. Not because it was some strange creature, but because she had killed the mole thing. Pokemon were strong and even what she had done wouldn't kill one. She hadn't really thought about what she had been doing in the fight abd only now did she truly realize she killed something. She hasn't killed a pokemon she hadn't killed a friends she had killed something trying to kill them.

While killing might cone easy to others Nikita really hadn't needed to hunt and kill it was why she assumed she had nothing for combat. She had never fought before. The monsters were dead everyone was safe. That was what mattered, the deaths didn't.

Nikita took a moment to come down from the rush of her first fight and found her hand was still firmly clutching the shovel. She tried to let go but her hand just wouldn't she had a death grip that wasn't going away just yet. Some part of her was still in fight or flight mode and fight seemed to be her pick.

As Euthalia talked about the mole things abd what they did Nikita did wonder why they did it. She had no clue but perhaps a bigger mole was behind it? Well for now they needed to keep the moles away. Pokemon woukd avoid areas if they smelled other powerful pokemon. The problem was they moved underground so smell wouldn't block things. Sight was also pointless as they were underground so couldn't see scary things. Taste was the same as smell. Really it seemed hearing was likely the only sense that could be tricked.

" what if we can maje a sound to scare thrm off, they live underground so might have better snell and hearing. So if we make a scary sound they might be to scared to cone back " Nikita explained though make a scary sound was easier said than done and farm more complex than just being scary. " Also umm I can't let go of the shovel can I get a little help? "

Viole

Viole's internal management unit reported a bit of overload, which in living folk language would be a strain on the body side of things. Thankfully the enemies are dead, at least the ones they knew about and hopefully, a new wave won't come soon. He took a deep breath even if he didn't need to breath to stabilize his mind and to clear his thoughts. As he finished doing so he looked at Keone's state, hearing she would like to be bandaged. Viole took off his backpack and began to rummage through it, sadly he did not find any bandages but he did have his spare cotton shirt. He quickly took it out and ripped it into pieces to use as a provisional bandage at best to stop the bleeding. Hopefully, that would somewhat help, especially since he put a tourniquet just above the biggest wounds to slow down the bleeding.
"I hope someone has proper bandages, as this won't hold for long, nor is it that helpful but it's better than not having them on. If it starts to hurt more I can give you some alcohol but do note I will have to chill your wounds then as it would thin your blood leading to more bleeding otherwise." Viole reported almost emotionlessly to Keone, what little emotion she could sense was mostly empathy for her sorry state, and care anyone would have for someone wounded.

Viole stayed near Keone to observe her state but he did yell out to the others. "Keone is taken care of for now, if someone has proper bandages, could they give them to me, my patching her up is sadly provisional at best. As for making something that would make a sound to scare them... I could try my hands at making something like that after all I am an artificer, though I don't have my proper tools with me so it might take a while to make, excluding the prototyping phase and all that."

The snake was starting to loose a bit more colour in her body by the time Viole tried to help out bandage her up with some emergency bandages. “Right.. thanks... can we go inside?” She asked, as it was even colder in her current state. She was clearly not doing the greatest, though she wasn't gonna bleed to death like this, at the very least.

The Faun wasn't even sure where to start. That said, after bringing Euthalia over and helping her sit down, seeing Keone being bandaged up by Viole and seeing Gudina check the area, she went off to Nikita. Hugging the girl form behind, she'd place her hands over the girl's hands. “There you go, it's alright.” She'd seen such reactions. Honestly, the only reason she was keeping herself (somewhat) together despite the sight of blood so prominent, was that she was doing all she could to look away from it. It'd make her recall too many bad memories if she looked directly at the bloodied shovel or corpses...

Euthalia Apricot

From:
Heavily self-edited AI generated stuff.

“Hmm...” She mumbled. Despite the pain being a distraction, she did have an idea. “Let's use those plans, whilst I'll work on making the crops more resilient while at it.” She'd state.

Aftermath.
The group would stick around for a while longer. Gudina was still willing to accommodate them. Luckily enough, no more monsters mole waves came at them. The local healer would visit Keone the next day in order to patch up the snake and check Euthalia's feet/roots.

Viole would be able to use his Alchemy, Engineering and Artificer abilities to try set up some wards that made sounds to scare the moles off, with some resources and help offered by the village's blacksmith. Nikita, with her primitive craft, would be able to help out here and there and/or set up some basic mole traps of her own, should she wish to try. Aiden would be able to help figure out a plan to make the plants more long-term resilient against the roots being damaged with some Nature and Agriculture knowledge, along with Euthalia.

The bulk of the work on the crops themselves, however, was done by Euthalia, after her recovery. Using a combination of Magic B, Control Environment D, Flora Affinity D and Nature C, she helped regrow some crops and make them more resilient against potential future attacks. Combined with the efforts of the others, it should keep the farm better protected against these moles, although the question what had even brought them there remained. Yet that was for another time to find out. Perhaps by the same or by new and different people.

The End.

Summary of the Roleplay (Briefly summarize the events and main storyline of the roleplay.)
Euthalia was sent out on a diplomatic goodwill mission as a See diplomat to help out a village in Kuridan with their crops. They run into Nikita and Viole along the way and allow them to tag along. Aiden joins in as back-up sent by the See. The group does some tests and talking, Euthalia decided to try rooting and gets attack by some mole-like [monster] creatures. The crew defeats them and implements some changes that should help ward them off so a next time won't happen.

Goal Achievement (Indicate whether the goal of the roleplay was accomplished. Note that this affects grading, as failed roleplays typically receive lesser rewards.)
The goal of helping the village with their crops was achieved, though it wasn't yet revealed what caused the moles to destroy crops (leaving an opening for a possible future RP if there's ever interest).

Lore to Establish (Detail any new lore you'd like to introduce, including brief descriptions for lore moderators, links to the posts where the lore was established, nation of origin associated with the lore.)

Yale is a quiet village located near some a river and some spikey hills in southern Kuridan that is nearly exclusively inhabited by Driders. Among those Anansi as the guard captain and Gudina, in charge of the village's agriculture. The village relies on a system of growing corn/maize for consumption and for feed for their chicken-sized caterpillars, which they raise for meat and silk alike. They then use their manure to fertilise the fields. It is known to produce high quality silk, both form the caterpillars and Driders themselves.

The village of Yale with its drider inhabitants won't have to worry about their crop routine falling apart for the foreseeable future, though they will likely reach out to the Adventurer's Guild to ask someone to investigate what caused the [Monster] moles to show up at their doorstep to begin with.

Narrator Bonuses (Recommend any bonuses you'd like to award to narrators based on their performance.)
To all participants;

Item: [Giant Caterpillar Jerky] – A Drider speciality, for on the road.

A flavour item, just to spruce things up a bit.

Additional Notes (Include any other observations or points you'd like feedback on or that require further commentary.)
Spiders used to creep me out, but I figured I'd ask after Karcen's favourite animals and spiders it was. So now we've got a Drider village. Does make me wonder if villages with predominantly 1 species in them are common in Kuridan or if I made an exception.

No biggie having a single creature type in a village or small town. Not uncommon for racially homogenous clans to settle together to form communities. Gets a bit harder to have it this way as they expand though. The Hive being a homogenous nation but obviously with very particularly circumstances making that possible. I appreciate the spider folk since it hammers home the idea that a traditional fantasy monster type isn't always a monsters classification in IH. Pretty spiffy maps for this one. Seems to be a trend these days for the combat rps.

Aftermath

The efforts of the fae see in the village was a nice effort although limited in diplomatic gains. the local lord was appreciative but concerned they were not the focus of the diplomatic visit.

The village's mole problem was curbed, but ultimately was not well off enough to fund an investigation by themselves. The local lord took steps on their behalf. the villagers appreciate the diplomat's visit which drew attention and support to their issue faster than it otherwise would have.

Rewards
