Is... is that when your supposed to use paragraph breaks? After dialogue?[Sips apple water.]
Hot take: The concept of "basic literary" is incorrect and pretentious. The very fact of calling it literacy is messed up as hell; there are children on this site, who are perfectly able to read and write, but may not have the skill to obtain what they set out to achieve. And more often then not, they are going to be self-conscious about this. Come on. I have high reading comprehension for someone in my age range, but fuck, it's hard to write long, chonky 5-paragraph responses with exquisite detail and the vocabulary of a uni-grad. Yeah, congrats if you can write five pages in response, but if you begin calling that 'basic literacy" then it really is putting the bar way too high up, and demeaning those who cannot obtain those standards. (I have seen so many RPs, listing mandatory once-a-day 5 paragraph responses as a basic response.) If you like to read novellas, go ahead. If you like one-sentence dialogue RPs, go ahead. But when you begin to shame other people (who are mostly children!) that unable to fulfill those expectations, and begin to treat roleplay participation as homework that your players are saddled with, you are killing the point of doing an RP in the first place: having fun. People should set out to guide these players instead, rather than throwing them, metaphorically, into the lion's den.
That being said, please use fucking paragraph breaks after dialogue.
