also, are going to make places? name some races of the world? I got a whole world I built, but it's nothing detailed. I can share if yall like

So idk about everyone else but I was thinking of bring Zo over from the old rp. Then again I was planning on him being pretty strong already, so if we're going with the idea of our characters being "starter level" I think I'll come up with someone wholly new and lower powered. What about you guys?

Depends on how heavily the plot emphasizes combat, or "strength" more generally. I was drafting a character with pretty ridiculous physical strength and reflexes due to scientific augmentation, sorta like a cyberpunk thug cast backward in time, but I wanted to use that to basically "bypass" combat so I can focus more on exploring abstract philosophical themes through him, just for my own thoughts like an interactive diary I guess.
If combat, heroism, and deeds are going to be a primary focus of the storytelling then I might have to draft a new character or change how I play with him. Maybe he'd be OP in the start with physical prowess, but once magic is introduced he realizes he's brought a knife to a gun fight. I dunno, more info needed.
I don't have any objection to people playing OP characters, whether new or transplanted.

I feel when combat is too heavy in an rp, it tends to start arguments. Because people always seem to want their character to win unless combat is pre planned, but even then some people become bitter when they are set to lose. Also things aren’t an exact system here so people may argue over who they think would/should win. And fights tend to last such little time that the encounter is virtually pointless anyway.

They can be op and destroy people almost instantly for story purposes but I believe every outcome should be discussed before hand so plot implications can be decided

Large agree on all counts. It's been over a decade since I've done a real RP with an actual story with real humans, but all of this just seems sensible and correct. Even when playing games, I usually will instinctively take a support or adjacent role, so as long as the glory isn't hoarded and I'm able to help others enjoy our shared experience, I'm very pliant.
I'm still working on my character sheet, and I'm especially having trouble finding (generating) a half-decent face for the poor bastard. When can we expect to get the ball rolling on the story?

RPs always get ruined by people unable to lose. I think it would be cool if we go with my idea of starting weak, as it makes it clear from the beginning that you not always gonna win.

That problem usually arises when it's pvp and I was expecting fights with npcs if there ever were any. In Zo's case I was gonna play him as a sort of pacifist. Not really intent on fighting as it's a pointless pursuit kind of thing.

I too am leaning towards weaker characters so I will be retiring him unfortunately. I'm sure I can have a cs up soon though since I finally will have a day off! 🙌

That actually leads me to a good topic, NPCs in an isekai. The most unexpected characters can become mainstay without even trying to be. In order to feel more realistic, I’m going to make npcs a specific thing.

They don’t need a full character sheet, but they will need sub character sheets if they appear more than once, basically something like the character sheet only with the more important details about them and how they may react to certain situations (based off character archetypes.

They may eventually become a character that’s fully fleshed out that anyone can use so long as they aren’t currently in use somewhere else.

I ask that in this system: someone other than the player interacting with them have control over them. I have a feeling that I will play a bunch of sub characters. You can play different sub characters in one post so long as you can handle them.

whoa, what did I miss
I think we are doing an adventure isekai rp, most characters start off weak. There will be story, world building and character building, not so much combat, though there will be an option of strength or weakness in the character starting. Though it’s not a battle rp. I’m adding things to make sure the rp is hopefully long lasting. Some Things may be pre planned so everyone is happy with the result and and feel more inclined to stay

Though still WIP—and certainly pending approval—my first character sheet/draft is finally in. I officially have skin in the game. Let's make this happen.

*Just realized I should probably blend the bio into an introductory paragraph, "how did we get here?" I'll get on that.

Does everyone that still wants to be a part of it have a character sheet submitted?
I think we got a bit lost in the weeds discussing the world-building, which would be fine if the pace of responses wasn't so slow and if the responses didn't lack conviction. Might have ended up spinning our wheels when we could have been playing.

Alright this is the last world building that I will say before we begin:

Intelligent nonhuman races of the world that I immediately thought up:

Lizali: A race of dragon newts that stand upright. They are essentially lizard people with wings. They have webbed feet, spurs on their wings, and are proficient with water and fire magic, they are very full of themselves.

Slimeshifters: usually an upright standing slime humanoid. They naturally have no mouth, nose or ears. They come in different colors depending upon materials in their environment. You can usually find one selling the wares they collect. They can change shape into living and nonliving things while still retaining a slimy form. They are made of a goo like magic that breaks down and reconstructs materials. They do not consider themselves slimes.

Goblinoids: usually a dark green color these people have scarce hair and love anything shiny and valuable. They evolved from monsters that had a strong get of gene called goblins, nobody knows much about the goblins anymore because once Goblinoids were born, their even stronger gene pool and lifespan took up a majority of the goblins . Goblinoids incredible business sense but usually come from a poor village, but there are some goblin nobles. They don’t like talking about their origins because generations back, most of them came from the same woman as a mother. They call her their eve.

Orkaknids: boar people with spiders for a lower body. Kinda like centaurs, but they have an intense hunger. They catch giant bugs in the rainforests and jungles to make large feasts. They worship battle prowess and strength.

Elves: they are said to be decendants of Terrect. With blond hair and blue or green eyes. They are honestly quite rude usually. They are very pretentious. Where they are some of the remaining life forms from the tree of life and are technically stemmed from Terrect, he has disowned them almost completely. They are not aware of this, and worship him every hour in forms of artwork, music, and offerings that they mail to him (he has no idea how they keep finding him). They consider themselves to be the holy species above all others and have used their blood line to try to claim a lot of land. They are at war with the humans because it is known that Terrect doesn’t like most humans from his world.

Unitaurs: unicorn men on steroids. They are obsessed with fitness and a form of fencing using their horns. They aren’t very modest, and wear a minimal amount of clothing they could cure many diseases with their milk but want nothing to do with that. Sometimes other races kidnap their women in order to harvest milk and sell it to the black market. It’s looked very much down upon to the point that if someone is found with bottled milk of any kind in their land, they will likely be executed on the spot.

Woe betide a milk-drinker as myself... Sapient slimes are going to be cool though.
