Graded [Lanost Village] - Killing Time! A Little Trouble in Lanost Village

illia frei 8.jpgIllia Frei
Somehow, Illia felt embarrassed even in this dire situation. The boy was carrying her without a second thought. He even announced their arrival by saying he brought a friend! Smoke inhalation would be a problem, but as long as they could get out, it wouldn't be too damaging. Illia took the backpack and hefted it onto her own back so his hand could be free. Her expression was blank. Thoughts sprinting by. She could hear sounds of combat at the gate, but in another direction towards the forest as well.

If these arsonists were a trained group, that meant people were going to die.

"Eric. If things go south," she whispered in his ear, "Run into the forest. It will be harder for the attackers to follow us there. I don't want to leave anyone behind, but neither of us are combatants, so we'd only get in the way since they'd try to protect us."

Just outside the gate, the men that had made it out and tried to fight the bandits were struggling. Several of them had died. Some were still scrapping with all their will to save their wives and children. As the group of civilians made their way out, the focus of the free bandits - those that hadn't run off to see what was going on at the carts - shifted onto the women and children. Helping the elderly move along, they were too slow in this situation. It was like the bandits were waiting for them to try to leave.

Bodies already littered the floor, some decapitated, others with gruesome wounds that sucked and bubbled before going silent.

Illia fought back a gag, hiding her eyes for a moment against Eric's back, "Convince your mother to run, Eric! We're gonna die!"

Peggy giggled when the lizard called itself a dragon. That was silly, dragons were Grimm and Grimm couldn't talk. Then again giant lizards couldn't either. Then she let out an exaggerated gasp when it (he?) called her an idiot. "I don't sound dumb! I sound like a child! Which I am!" She exclaimed, sticking out her tongue. Whatever it was this dragon thing was it was funny.

Then everything went wrong. Some strange man ran out of nowhere and attacked the lizard, slamming a rock into its eye. There was blood. The dragon screamed. The girls screamed. Peggy stood there shocked. Snapping out of it she quickly grabbed the youngest girl's hand and started pulling them back. "Come on! This way!" She told the others, leading them towards another cart. The four of them would only be in the way. As they backed away another person showed up to break up the fight and Peggy gasped. Was that an elf? But those were only legends!

It was then that the bandits started appearing, laughing menacingly. Peggy kept backing up. "Where do you think you're going?" A mean voice said from behind them. Peggy spun around pushed the girls behind her, putting herself between them and the bandit that was approaching, holding the sword up. The man just laughed, unafraid of the armed child. Perhaps he was right, or maybe it was a mistake. It was time to see if her sister's lessons had taught her anything....

It was not an empty threat either. Hinkiro really was going to rip out the man's heart and eat it. However, it seemed that the bandits had got wind of the commotion at the wagons and were coming to stop it. But at least they seemed to have their eyes on the wild man and his knife-eared friend.

Great. Just great. Aside from the mind numbing pain, the rest of his plan was falling apart was well. But at least the girls had gotten the message and were making their getaway. That was one less thing he had to worry about, but he would have to catch up with them... that is if he had the mind to later.

"You are lucky I don't have time for this!" He growled with all due malice.

Turning from the bandits and lunatic hunter, he jumped back into the cart. Taking the torches used for light and throwing them in the back of the cart before scrambling to the front where the horse was waiting patiently.

Well he didn't care about the horse. It could burn for all he cared. He was going to kill the others to make it hard for the bandits to take their wagons but he just didn't have the time right now.

He took the reigns. Yes. He took the reigns. Just because his form didn't make it convenient to do so didn't mean he didn't know how this worked. He was from the real world, after all. Advantages of being an otherworlder.

"Ha!" He shouted, and whipped the reigns. Spurring the horse into motion and pulling its direction towards the town gate.

The cart was becoming full aflame now that the cloth covering had caught. The supplies would soon follow creating a mobile bonfire to scare the horse into further speed. As it should. It was run or be burned alive.

Hinkiro didn't care. His scales could take a few licks of fire. Even now he could feel the heat strongly. But he wanted to make sure he could guide the wagon just right.

More speed! More! He whipped the reigns again again, but it didn't matter as the horse now galloped for its life. A flaming cart at its heels with a mad and bloody one-eyed drake at the helm. He wanted one thing right now and it was destruction. That he even bothered to help was a mistake, but now that he was in he planned to see it through with all viciousness.

The axles groaned and clattered with each bump of the careening vehicle. Causing embers to fly in all directions with every lurch and vibration. Yes! Yes! Crash! Burn! Die! Closer closer! And closer still! Stare, panic scramble! And die!

Was Hinkiro going to be satisfied? NO! Maybe it was blood loss. Maybe it was his infuriation. Maybe he was just crazy. But his bloodlust was at a fever pitch and he would not be satisfied unless he could cause maximum carnage.

Moments before impact, Hinkiro leaped forward from the driver's seat onto the back of the horse. A manic look in his as he dug his claws into its back and leaning hard to the right sending the horse veering right and tumbling...

The result was a spectacular and blazing jack-knife. Wheels breaking and wood splitting as it flipped. Crushing what was underneath and sending flaming debris into the nefarious crowd! May as many as possible die for the trouble he had to deal with! And yeah... maybe it will help the villagers too. But bandits dying were priority.

Hinkiro would be laughing maniacly if he wasn't rolling head over heels from the crashing horse. The beating he was taking to pull this off...

Eric, the Weird Kid

With his handaxe in hand and his friend on his back, Eric continued moving along with the group of weaklings and noncombatants. Once Illia whispered a plan in her ear, he grimaced, but nodded. He stayed alongside his mother, who was trying to help the others quickly move along. Time was of the essence, after all. Eric made as if to help, but his mother stopped him. "You're doing enough already." She gestured at Illia as she spoke to him, her voice quite stern. Eric nodded, looking surprised by her tone.

After a minute or so, they finally arrived at the front gate of the village. It was already a bloodbath out there. The gate was wide open, and around a dozen of the combatants of the villagers, as well as a few of the hired adventurers, were holding off an onslaught of bandits with arrows, shields, and spears, as well as some barricades. The bandits were amateurs, to be sure, but their numbers were far more than the villagers could handle, and the fire was minimizing the utility of the barricades. As the noncombatants approached, two of the combatants on the village's side crumpled to the ground, one of whom no longer had a head on his shoulders.

Eric looked around, anxiously looking for someone. After a few seconds, he spotted the person he was looking for, and looked hopeful. His father was standing behind one of the fiery barricades, launching arrows at the bandits who were rushing over. Eric quickly upped his pace, and as he did so, his mother called out, "Paul! We're ready!"

At that, the archer that Eric looked over at turned back toward them and held his fist up, shouting, "It's now or never! Charge!" With that, everyone from the defensive position started aggressively charging forward, shoving and slaughtering bandits to make a path forward. The rest of the villagers quickly rushed in behind them, with several of the less fortunate ones falling over and getting hailed by arrows and slashed by swords. The combatants who were protecting the noncombatants weren't faring much better, and the bandits seemed to get the cue and started rushing in. What already seemed horrifying quickly became a massacre, as the combatant villagers started to fall, and bandits started rushing in around them to slaughter the vulnerable people within the group. Eric looked on in horror as the archer he looked so hopefully at got chopped into a corpse by an especially fat-looking bandit.

Then Illia got his attention. Eric wiped his eyes after hearing her suggestion, but nodded. He turned to his left, where his mother was a few seconds ago, and shouted, "Mom! We need to-" But she wasn't there. He quickly glanced around, trying to spot her, and saw her leaning over to try and get the village elder's wife up off the ground. As he spotted her, an arrow sank straight into her neck from off to Eric's right. He stopped dead in his tracks, staring back in shock as she clutched at her neck and screamed in pain.

But something else then quite suddenly tore his attention away from the horrifying sight behind him. A flaming cart was wheeling straight towards the rapidly shrinking group of people. Or, more accurately, at the bandits who were piling in around the group of people. Eric seemed to realize something after seeing that happen, and sighed. "Sorry Illia, I'm going now! Hang on!"

As the flaming cart started reeling and skidded around, Eric sprinted off in a parallel direction - right next to the path of the cart. The bandits there were all too busy sprinting away, trying to avoid the thing, and so they didn't bother swinging at Eric. Eric took advantage of the path of corpses and debris that it left to get into full gear and sprint off into the direction that it came from.

Immediately after he ducked in behind the foliage, he slowed down. He was breathing heavily. He still seemed like he had some fight left him him, but his legs and some of his arm were burnt and scraped from the fire and debris that he had sprinted through, and he also had a few grazes from the arrows that had grazed him. His expression was pained and sorrowful, but he didn't look despirited. "Alright, now what Illia? We're not in the field, but..." as he spoke, he spotted a few bandits off on the roadway. They seemed to be rushing away from the village and shouting about 'supplies', among other things. He then glanced behind him, and saw that, back in the field, several bandits were starting to make their way over towards the forest as well, although none of them were moving directly towards his current position. He spoke more quietly as he noticed them, continuing, "...I don't know what to do from here!"

Hunter of Skies

The enraged outworlder made sure Kaos was behind him, he turned his head to look at Kaos as a few bandits began to move towards them, weapons drawn on them. Hunter was unarmed but didn't mean he didn't how to disarm a person. While he stared at Kaos, he saw her change to his wife for a moment and he looked confused, " Wha-...? " he asked staring at her momentarily then he turned back to the bandits and he saw the invaders. " River that Flows... River. " He was talking to Kaos. " Get the children and run. " He looked to Kaos, his eyes with sadness and anger in them. " River please... The children need you. " there was so much happening that he couldn't process it all, he was having flackbacks at the same time, this reminded him too much of the invasion of his people.

He was having a episode, his trauma rising. He turned to face the bandits that were coming, but just as that happened he heard the oversized lizard yell something at Hunter but he ignored him, then a flaming wagon ran over two of the bandits and the other two looked away. This was his opportunity, Hunter raced straight for the closest of the bandits with a pitchfork. As he sprinted towards the bandit who turned to face him, Hunter brought a leg up and planted his foot on their chest, his hand reached forward grabbing the dingy tool by the handle, kicking the bandit away onto the ground as Hunter had finally armed himself. His screen came up saying he acquired a weapon. Ignoring that strange thing, he looked up at the few remaining bandits around him, this weapon was like a spear. Pointing the fork in front of him as the bandits began to back up. Cowards! He yelled in his head, now that he was armed, they wouldn't do a thing.

Hunter moved forward quickly and quickly stabbed the first bandit that was close that tried to turn and run. Ramming the sharp forks through the back then chest, he pulled the forks out as the bandit fell. They tried crawling but he slammed the forks through the back of their head then pulled out swiftly. A quick clean kill. No messing around, he only saw invaders, they would die. Hunter moved onto the next invader that tried to attack him with a rusted saber, Hunter used the pitchfork to glide his hand and arm away then quickly directed the spear up through the invader's head from below. Pulling it out quickly for the flaming cart to pass by him again, luckily Hunter was out of the way. He looked back to see a few children backing up from a bandit, his vision changed these children to children of his village and the bandit into a invader. One of the children holding a weapon against this invader, they would be killed... No... NO! Hunter raced in their direction, avoiding the flaming cart that drove furiously around. Ignoring all other obstacles as he got near, the invader raised their weapon up ready to strike the children with it but instead Hunter sprinted into the man pitchfork first through the side, into their lower abdomen. Screams erupted from the downed bandit as Hunter got on top of them, knocking the sword out of their hand, his arm and shoulder hurt but he ignored it. His anger and adrenaline helped subdue the pain as Hunter slammed the man's head into the ground where rocks were, making sure to split their head wide open, blood and gore splattered across the ground and on him.

Hunter breathed heavily as he got off the man, taking his fork and pulling it out. His head turned to the children as he turned his body to them. " Hey. Its okay, children. The man won't hurt you. " Hunter tried telling them in a quiet and calm tone. He wanted them to know they were okay. He lowered his pitchfork to show them he wasn't a threat since one of them still held a weapon.

This journey was off to such a rough start. Was going on a journey really this difficult in this world? At least, Hunter had listened to her. Although his realization came pretty late. Kaos couldn't resist the urge to roll her eyes. "Why wouldn't he get mad when you injured its eye?" her voice was sarcastic, he was stating the obvious. Hunter wasn't a bad person. She was able to tell with how he was shielding her with his body.

The bandits weren't really the issue. The longer they kept stalling, the bigger the fire was growing! She wrinkles her nose. Was he some sort of main character with these self-righteous values? She could have swore she heard those words before from a story or something. It was honestly sort of cringe that she couldn't control the goosebumps on her back. The only issue had been now that she revealed herself, she made her a prime target for the bandits to try and capture.

Kaos bit her inner cheek, contemplating her actions. Only that what had happened was the actions were completely unexpected. She hadn't exactly expected him to be normal but was he more intelligent than she gave him credit for? Well, minus the fact he was risking burning himself alive. But hey, what are those scales for? If she were to add in the screams of horror of the villagers- men rushing to protect the women and children while dying in the process, the latter trying to escape. It was just a great hotpot of chaos. She didn't quite like the idea but if were possible, if they were able to lure the bandits to a certain spot there was a herb that could knock them out if burned. Of course, it was slightly concerning if the forest fire actually spreads to that extent since the smoke would cause all those who smell it to be knocked out. Just a slight bit.

However, all of the sudden, Hunter began acting strangely. Kaos was confused. "What?" she was flabbergasted. What on earth was he saying? What children? Weren't the kids from earlier free now? The way he was speaking was so weird. What the Ryke? There was almost something desperate in the way he's acting. Did he know them? Was there something she's missing right now?

She took a deep breath, trying to process everything going on and to help control herself. At the same time, she was trying to avoid the bandits grabby hands on her. The drake was helpful in trying to lessen the numbers of the bandits. However, it didn't help the fire that was still growing. Kaos was capable of sensing the mana in her and her surroundings but she wasn't skilled enough to control it as of now. The elf had picked up a bow and a few arrows lying about for self-defense. If they can't bring water to the fire, she glances at the sky. "It would be nice if it rained any time now." Otherwise- we're they supposed to leave it on its own?

The bandit raised his arm to strike and Peggy thought back on lessons with her sister.

"Alright, a guy comes at you with a sword, what do you do?"

"Um... Block it?"

"Wrong. Any adult is going to be stronger than you. You block it and you'll get hurt. You need to parry or dodge."

Peggy raised her sword, ready to try and deflect the attack to the side. Before the blow could land however the wild man came rushing in with a pitchfork, stabbing the man and driving him to the ground. The girls screamed as the hunter slammed the bandit's head into the ground and even Peggy found the resulting mess a little nauseating. The man stood up and the girls cowered, but she could tell that he didn't mean them any harm even before he told them it was okay. He lowered his weapon and crouched down to their level and Peggy beamed at him. Even though he attacked the lizard dragon he clearly a good guy.

But he had made a mistake. He'd lowered his weapon and turned his back on the fight and there was a bandit, ax raised to take advantage of the opening. "Look out!" Peggy cried out, throwing herself forward weapon forward to block. It was a dumb move. She knew it was a dumb move. She had just been remembering Lilith telling her not to do that, and now she got to learn why.

Her sword got knocked down and a sharp pain shot through her as the ax dug into her shoulder. She screamed as she was forced to her knees. It hurt! It hurt! It hurt worse than her legs ever did! But not as much as when she was bit. Still she doubled over, clutching at her wound, flames licking between her fingers and her blood sizzling as it splashed on the ground.

illia frei 8.jpgIllia Frei
It was a terrible scene. Honestly, she wanted to vomit. Her stomach was in her heart and her heart in her throat as the two ran for their lives. She didn't see his mother die, but she heard it. She heard the scream... it made her blood shiver.

As Eric sprinted away from the terrible scene, Illia had a great view of the strangest of things... a... was that a DRAKE? Managing a cart... riding it into the bandits... Was something in the smoke making her hallucinate? That was one of the strangest things she had ever scene, and for a second it made the horror of the situation fade into the background. She was watching, head turned around, until they finally stopped in the bushes at the edge of the forest.

Illia pushed off of Eric gently and stepped down onto the ground, on her own two feet for the first time in what felt like an eternity. She stared into the distance, "Breathe, Eric. Get clear air in you. I think the fire is burning inwards, burning the houses, instead of licking toward the forest. If it caught fire to the forest there'd be a much bigger issue than just our lives. Are you alright? After things die down we'll need to tend to wounds."

She could hear other people in a scrap, now that the fire and screaming weren't so loud in her ears. A man, a pink-haired child around Eric's age, and... an elf? How strange. The child and man were fighting the few stragglers that remained of the bandits that were not engaged at the gate. The pink-haired girl looked to take a significant injury to her shoulder. She looked to Eric, "Let's gather with them. The man looks capable in a fight, and the girl looks to need help." Shortly after she said the words, she was running to the side of the three. Getting closer, there were actually a few more kids than just the pink-haired one. Slaves, by the looks of them. Bandits' toys.

There was the straggler bandit that attacked her, but other than that, the area looked to be clear. The man had dispatched all assailants. She trusted the man would take out the last bandit before he could hurt them and rushed to the pink girl. She tore the hem of her already tattered dress and put pressure on her wound, "I know this hurts like hell but the faster the bleeding stops the better your outcome once you're healed." She wrapped cloth around her and haphazardly tied it. It wasn't great but they didn't have time to for great.

"I'm Illia. This is Eric. We're from the village. I don't recognize any of you, but you were fighting bandits so that makes you a friend of me."

Meanwhile, the actions of the strange drake had killed most of the remainder of the bandits around the gate. It was bloody and terrible and smelled like acrid burning flesh, and there weren't many survivors from either side. Those bandits that remained lacked leadership. The villagers that managed to survive were disoriented from the ongoing disaster. Now, however, the remaining villagers outnumbered the remaining bandits. There were about fifteen villagers left, not counting those that had fled into the trees. Comparatively, there were only six ambulatory bandits left, two with major burns. For a pissed-off drake, honestly, it wouldn't be much of a contest.

Eric, the Weird Kid

Illia got down off of Eric's shoulders as he lowered his voice and commented to her. He knelt down so that she would have an easier time getting back on the ground, then stood up and looked down to her as she started explaining what was going on. He breathed deeply a few times, but coughed after his first deep breath, still looking like he was in pain. His eyes glazed over a little as she commented on the fire, but after she expressed her concern for him, he nodded, looking over himself for a second or two. "Yeah. It was just a little sprint. I have a few injuries, but nothing that's making it hard to move around." After her comment on their new short-term goals, he nodded. "Alright!"

He then followed Illia as she started leading him over toward some area nearby. He kept looking around, keeping his handaxe in-hand at his side. It seemed that the bandits were fleeing, for the most part. However, as they walked along, Eric eventually spotted a group of people in a small cleared-out camp in the distance. It looked like a fight was going on. Eric looked back over at Illia as she issued out some new orders. "Will do!" As they rushed through the foliage to get closer, the boy looked around at the scene. Around a half dozen corpses were lying around, a group of girls were huddled around each other, an elf, a pink-haired girl, and a injured guy with a pitch-fork were talking to one another, and a guy with an axe was rushing over towards the guy with the pitch fork. Eric winced a little as he saw the pink-haired girl jump out and get slashed with the axe. Luckily, the axe didn't seem to be especially sharp, as the girl's shoulder still seemed to be mostly intact.

But, as the girl screamed and he rushed into the camp, he focused more on the two guys. The guy with the axe paused after the girl jumped in to block his attack, but the hunter then quickly started engaging him in a melee of sorts. Neither side seemed to be gaining headway, so once Eric got there, he altered his approach so as to rush in behind the axe guy, while Illia rushed over to the girl. He wasn't especially quiet, so the axe guy heard him coming. Eric then charged in, raised his handaxe, and swooshed it a foot or so next to the guy's head. Eric wasn't even remotely close to hitting the bandit, and although the swing had a lot of force behind it, his form was pathetically bad. But the sound did make the bandit flinch a little.

...

Once the hunter dispatched the bandit, Eric quickly thanked the hunter for the help. He then rushed over to Illia and the pink-haired girl that she was helping. He looked them over, trying to catch on to whatever it was that they started discussing while he was helping the hunter take care of the bandit. As he listened, he nervously looked around every few seconds, as if searching for something in the camp or forest around them.

Hunter of Skies

The outworlder smiled seeing this pink haired kid looking appreciative for his help, Hunter saw the kid transform into a child from his tribe momentarily before she changed back to her regular form. It almost brought the warrior peace for a moment, would this be his redemption for what he did to his people? These kids had to have parents and Hunter would move on, these children would be safe now. But his eyes focused on the girl when she leapt forward, his head moved behind him to see a bandit with a axe. The girl jumped in front of him and took the axe to the shoulder. Blood splattered onto Hunter's face, his lips quivered as he couldn't find words to say.

Instead Hunter let out a roar, behind his cry of rage and pain, a wolf could almost be heard howling. Hunter watched the bandit place a foot on the girl's shoulder and kick her off his axe. Ignoring the fire coming from the girl, Hunter charged the bandit, grabbing the axe with his hands as he pushed him back away from the children, his eyes yelled rage and death. The two battled over the axe for a little bit, hitting each other to get the other to let go but it did not work.

The bandit was able to get the axe away from Hunter and regained his footing, but heard a young kid a little too eager to die run in with a axe. Moving out of the way of the axe, this gave Hunter a opening. Hunter kicked the bandit in his knee, making him fall to one. Having hold of the axe with one hand and repeatedly punching him in his head with the other.

The native then got on top of the bandit and proceeded to punch him repeatedly until the life left the bandit, blood splattered on the ground, even on Hunter as he kept punching even though he was long dead. Eventually Hunter stopped when he was out of breath, looking to the young kid who helped him. Hunter sighed deeply. " Thank you, young warrior in the making. " Hunter stood up. " You have much to learn. " this young man did impress Hunter though. He had a lot to learn what it meant to be a fighter.

Turning to the kid who saved him, he saw she was bleeding fire from her shoulder wound, which confused the warrior. " What in the Creator's name! " What was going on, there was always something.

Peggy let another scream as the bandit planted a foot on her shoulder and yanked the ax out, knocking her to the ground. He stared at the flames pouring out of her wound and the blood sizzling away on his ax. "What the hell?" He started to say before he was tackled by the wild man.

As she was laying gasping on the ground another girl appeared, tearing her dress for a makeshift bandage. Illia would find her blood hot to the touch but that the flames were not. Even as she bandaged her up the wound was healing, seeming to burn in reverse as the cut shrunk smaller and smaller. She gave the two other kids a strained smile. "Hi Illia. Hi Eric. I'm Peggy."

She slowly propped herself up with one arm and looked around, checking on everyone. The girls were scared but okay. The dragon and the cart weren't in view. The hunter was busy beating the crap out of the bandit that hurt her. Soon he finished and came back over, talking to Eric, and then turned shocked at her state. "Oh no, this is normal!" Peggy tried to reassure him. "It's just my Semblance!"

She did note his exclamation. The Creator? Who was that?

Wow. Shit came down quickly. Kaos was dealing with her own problems, but it wasn't that difficult to miss how the pink haired girl took a blow for Hunter. She couldn't understand how she could willingly put herself in danger when there was willing meatshield in front of her. She couldn't help wincing for herself, seeing the weapon come into contact at her. "Ouch." she grimaced as she let arrows fly towards the bandits. At the very least, she was capable of hitting her targets. In fact, they should be more afraid of her accuracy, or lackof. The elf wouldn't be able to control where the arrow would exactly land so it isn't really her problem if she accidentally hits them in a vital spot.

It seemed like it had took place for a prolonged period of time but this was also bound to end. The very least it had ended with their favor. Now there was room to breathe, she had took out a handkerchief and folded it before using it to cover her nose. She had been tolerating it earlier but the smoke that had her coughing was bothersome. It made her recall of less than fond memories. The body she had now was quite healthy, she intended to keep it that way.

While she was doing her own thing, she noticed a small girl who was dressed in what seemed more like rags than actual clothing. What she had dislike was how frail and thin she looked. Images that she would rather not remember were floating up in her mind. Although the girl had good intentions, her clothes weren't what you could call to be sanitary. In fact, it might even more harm than good. If it didn't burn to a crisp by the strange fire around the wound first. She didn't seem like she had any other clothes since she wouldn't be wearing that if she had anything else.

Hunter was still well, being weird. She wasn't really familiar with him but it shouldn't take a lot to figure out he's behaving rather strangely. Whatever. She didn't really care about them anyway. She focused her senses as she tried to figure out where the wind was blowing. Kaos looked at the burning houses and the forest surrounding it. It seemed to be fine, although there was still part of the forest affected. If it could only stop there then that would be the best outcome that she might hope for. Of course, everything would be better if the fire could finally be put out already. She let out a heavy sigh, "Gosh, I'm so tired." she grumbled, stretching her shoulder. She hadn't really been expecting for a workout. It had been good that the fiasco ended when it did.

Kaos took another glance at the humans. It seemed they were introducing themselves to one another. The battle had drained her so she wasn't quite in the mood to act friendly. She instead, took her waterskin to quench her dry throat. It's was something obvious but fire was seriously hot.

Hinkiro tumbled to a stop amongst the ash and viscera. With more effort than he would have wanted, he rose to his feet and looked upon the carnage that he caused to the bandits. He was pleased to see that it was a substantial amount. What had once been a one sided slaughter, he had at least been able to turn the tides enough that the villagers could at least pull out a pyrrhic victory.

But his job wasn't done yet... the fee bandits remained could still kill. Were still a hazard, and Hinkiro wasn't about to leave a job half done. One by one he dispatched the remaining bandits. By claw, by tooth, and by tail. Each fell before him as the bandits before him did, and this time they didn't have the advantage of unity or numbers... not after such mayhem.

Hinkiro stood atop the hamstrung corpse of the final bandit. Chest heaving in with the pain and effort of his endeavor. Between smoke and blood, it was hard to see, yet as he looked up he could see the few remaining villagers clearly against the fires of the village. Tired. Afraid. Broken. Not much of a village left to conquer, sadly... but he might be able to make something of it. Unlikely. Very unlikely. But he wasn't going to shy away from trying.

"I am Hinkiro! You have nothing to fear from me." He called to them. "Your battle is over. Search for your wounded and survivors in the fires while you still can. You may find people left to save."

Would they listen? If they knew what was good for them, they would. But who is to say? Seeing a talking drake did not often inspire immediate relief. But then again...

Isekai Hell RP Grade
The rp, overall, was a good way to kick things off. A bit of action, a bit of inter-character relationship building. You got a good sense for each of the characters and everyone continued to post and play their parts even if not directly involved in the action. I saw what looked like some auto-hitting a time or two, so I hope prior agreements were made. I also wonder if an F grade character could really single handedly do as much killing of F grade enemies as I saw. However, it was an interesting read all the same. We'll have to see where things go from here and where each of the characters' stories takes them.

Aftermath
The village of Lanost ceased to be. Too small to be on the map, the events of that evening would ensure it never would be. The survivors were too few, devastated, and vulnerable to continue living there. Those that could made the journey to surrounding villages and towns to live with relatives or find other opportunities. Released slaves, if any survived, would work to return to their homes and families if they still lived. The event would serve as a warning to take care when making deals too good to be true with suspicious merchants. What remains of Lanost is a burned out shell in a the forest.

Rewards
Eric
- 11 points - acquired optional title [Training Nut] - Excessive training has honed Eric's body to a noticeable degree. Despite his age, he will more easily be acknowledged for his efforts and given a chance by Dojos, Guards, Militia, Mercenary, and Adventurer Guilds

Illia - 11 points - acquired optional title [Orphan] - life sucks, the character draws no shortage of foul fates to her, but at the same time, she is the sort that is the most likely to receive aid when she needs it most

Hinko - 9 points - acquired optional title [Maneater] - has tasted the flesh of man. Humans instinctually recognize Hinko as a danger to society and force them to fear while those with ability will be more likely to kill Hinko on sight.

Hunter - 9 points - acquired option title [Did I Do That] - Broke all his weapons. This reckless or careless attitude is picked up on by arms dealers who will be more likely to not want to deal with you. Battle Junkies will pick up on that wilder side and be more likely to issue street brawl styled challenges.

Kaos - 9 points - acquired optional title [Helpful] - Tried to lend aid. The character is more likely to be seen as one who would offer help to those in need. Individuals are more likely to request help of Kaos in their time of need and are more likely to treat her positively in social interactions if they are not a criminal or corrupt.

Peggy - 9 points - acquired option title [Girl on Fire] - aside from her fiery regeneration, Peggy stands out in a crowd, giving off a more pronounced otherworldly vibe. She will garner increased attention from good and bad people.
