Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

"The host is human, but the other half is most definetly not." John replied to Elliott. "And the reason I'm the only one who can see her power because...." he trailed off, the rest of the sentence didn't need to be spoken, John and Chas knew full well what he was implying.

Chas nodded and Elliott had to refrain from cursing. Of course it all boiled back to that. The word fire piqued his attention. "Waaaaait a minute" he said, rolling each word slowly around his mouth. "Is she the one that's got hell and the downworlders in a total frenzy? Beacuse here have been rumours of..." he trailed off again. Then shook his head, "no, it couldn't be. Could it?" He pondered out loud.

John and Chas were watching his reaction intently. So something was going on down below. And Elliott seemed to, once again, be in the know.

Kay was beginning to pace now listening to them all. She stared at John when he said she was just a host to something not human. "Great(!) Just...great!" she thought to herself sarcastically. And of course, Fee was being silent as ever on her and she had no idea why. She didn't even know what Fee out herself through yesterday to keep Kay safe as well as John and Chas.

Then Elliott was thinking out loud about the entire downworld and Hell being in a frenzy over her. "Okay can someone PLEASE just tell me what the hell I am?!" She exclaimed impatiently. Her tone came out about more frenzied than she intended. "Sorry...it's just I've been on the run for over a year now not knowing why and it's seeming like I'm about to find out and it's getting too much to wait" she said a bit more calmly, her breathing was saying differently to her tone though.

"Just give us a minute or two more, yeah? I want to see what he knows" John gestured at Elliott, he seemed strangely unaffected by her outburst. Chas shrugged a kind of "its John, what can you really do to change his mind" shrug. Elliott jumped off the counter, food abandonned and went over to the pile of envelopes he had moved to the countertop.

He leafed through them, his fingers nimbly sliding through the papers. He pulled out a sheaf and passed them over to John. Chas walked over to the chair and began reading silently over his shoulder. Some of the pages were regular A4 printer pages, but other were closer to parchment in both colour and texture.

The eyes of the two men narrowed, widened and blinked in disbelief as they read through. "Bloody.. Is this genuine?" Elliott nodded "every word of it, and given what you two and Kay have said, it matches up" There was an ominous silence after that statement

Kay nodded when John said to give them a couple of minutes but mentally she was going crazy. She started fumbling with her hands as she placed more watching Elliott jump up and flip through papers.

She was now getting a tad worried. She tried to concentrate on her breathing so she didn't pass out. She noticed that some papers looked old...really old which made her now equally curious what she is even more. Surely she couldn't be something that old....could she? She shook that thought off, of course she could. Nothing should surprise her after what she now knows of the world.

She barely heard the three of reacting to the papers they were looking at but when they went dead silent, she noticed. The pacing stopped and she looked at them all, "well?" She asked, her voice a bit more shaky now compared to earlier.

They all exchanged looks. "We know what you are, but it is probably easiest to show you." John answered slowly. "You up for a bit of mindwalking kiddo?" he contuined. Elliott nodded, once again running a hand through the tangle of black locks. "What time should I show?" "The carrion crows, it'll be pretty recent, just around dark last night."

Elliott grimaced, he knew the crows by reputation and figured that that was how Chas had died. "It's just as I crash the cab" Chas added helpfully. "Don't worry it righted itself overnight, just like I did" He said by way of explanation to Kay. John had eventually decide dto enchant the cab to be self fixing after they broke it so many times.

Elliott looked at Kay and made a gesture for her to sit near John. "Okay, this is going to be weird, but take a deep breath and go with it it."

(Last post)

She looked between them, wondering if she heard them right. Then she nodded slowly, showing her couldn't possibly be any worse than what she's dealt with all this time. She had no idea what they were on about, apart from the information that Chas mentioned about the crashing of the cab.

She gave Chas a small smile and nod when he attempted to reassure her. She took a deep breath in before exhaling and sat next to John. An action that seemed to calm her nerves just a little bit. "Okay..sure" she replied. She knew her whole life would no doubt change from this moment onward. After two years or more of not knowing what was with her, she finally gets to know.

Her life was about to get alot more interesting....

Elliott looked at Chas "this goes without saying, but yank me out if anything happens." "Don't worry, I got you" the cabbie replied with a comforting look. "Well then, here goes nothing. We'll be in mine, you know the drill John." Elliott reached out and put the tips of his fingers on John's forehead. John's eyes closed by relfex as Elliott's took on a glowing blue hue.

He then turned to Kay, "close your eyes and take a deep breath before you go under. The other side will be quite chaotic at first, but it'll sort itself out in a few minutes." He advised. His tone was soft as he regarded her with glowing eyes that didn't look at all human. They had no pupil, just an even spread of blue light.

After she closes her eyes he places his fingertips in on her forehead, just like he did for John. His hand seemed to heat up before a blinding jolt of energy knocked her back.

When Kay opened her eyes she was not in John's apartment anymore. She was suspended in the air, surrounded by a virtual tornado of images. These images ran past her eyes, most she recognised as scenes from her life, the good, the bad and the downright ugly. But some weren't her own.

She caught glimpses of a punk festival, some kind of ceremony involving royalty, fighting with long staffs on a rooftop and many many more. They seemed to stretch on without end

Kay listened to the instructions Elliott gave her carefully. She did not want to mess up this. She closed her eyes and just as told, took a deep breath.

The heat surprisingly didn't bother at all which she would have thought should have done. She opened her eyes and saw so much coming at her at once. It was slot to process, the bad times and good times of her life flashing before her made her not know how to feel. Seeing Ethan's face in a blur got her choked up.

Then came what she could only guess were John's memories along with anything else. Of course he was a punk she thought to herself. She just hoped this would stop soon, as it was creating a weird sense of motion sickness in her stomach.

A cacophanous metallic thud cut across the swirling memories, shocking Kay. Up until then the world had been completely silent. More thuds followed, rising into an unbearable crescendo. The sounds bounced off seemingly nothing, getting amplified each time. The waves rocked the air, akin to turbulence on a plane. The memories began to fade, the colour leaching out slowly at first, but gradually getting faster until all that remained was blackness.

But Kay still remebered them. One in particular stuck into her mind, although she had no idea why. It was of a girl, maybe thirtenn or so. She had a narrow angular face and angry golden eyes. Strapped across her back was a sheathed sword.

The last clang seemed to ring out longer than the others, its metallic tone reverberating for eons before finally dying away. Then Kay was left in the darkness.

Inside the mindwalk Kay looked around quickly, trying to pin point the metallic thudding that was echoing around. She was getting frustrated not knowing where it was coming from. She briefly held her hands over her ears as the noise got louder until her hearing and mind got accustomed to the level of noise.

She blinked to try and adjust her vision in the blackness as it happened so suddenly. Then she saw her...the young girl. She squinted to get her in focus better and saw the sword sheathed. "Who are you?" she wondered. "Why do you feel so familiar to me? Why does it feel like a memory I should know??" she kept thinking to herself.

She grimmaced when the last clang threw her off guard then the darkness came once more. "What the...?" She questioned to no one in particular, not that there seemed to be anyone to ask. She couldn't even see John.

Kay would be in the darkness for maybe thirty seconds, when suddenly it seemed to just melt away. The blackness was replaced with brightness. She found herself standing on a rooftop, looking over the city of London. But it was changed, it looked different to the London everybody else saw. She was seeing somebody else's interpretation of what London should be. She was also dressed diffrently to how she had bewn in the apartment.

To her left were John and Elliott, but they were different to the John and elliott she had seen moments ago. John still wore the coat, but his white shirt had been replaced by a white t-shirt bearing the name 'Mucus Membrane'. His hair was gelled into punk spikes, and his ears were pierced with small rings and there was a stud in his nose. He wore thick soled combat boots to complete the look. His tattoos were different (not that Kay could tell).

Elliott's hair was a vibrant purple and his eyes were golden and somehow familiar. His scar was now a decorative line of silver fused to his skin. He was dressed in faded jeans and a plain t-shirt. By means of explanation Elliott turned to Kay "before you ask about the change of everything, where we are now, we show our subconscious image of ourselves as opposed to the vefsion everyone sees in the real world."

(Thats me for today)

Kay shielded her eyes when the brightness came in. Slowly she lowered her hand as her eyes adjusted to the now bright light. She overlooked the city, it seeming so familiar but oh so very different. Glancing down she saw she was in a ripped t-shirt where the sides were ripped out, a cropped vest underneath and distressed leggings. Doc Martin boots were on her feet. Her hair was loosely tied up into a low ponytail

She found herself thinking up more questions as she looked to her left and saw Elliott andd John. She took in their appearance and felt glad it wasn't just her appearance that had changed. She also thought how well John suited the old school punk look. She couldn't help but smirk to herself as she took in the sight before.

She snapped out of her thoughts when Elliott turned to talk to her. "Okay, that makes sense" she replied truthfully.

"If you think this is weird, you ain't seen nothing yet" John smirked. "Is this my cue to completely show off?" Elliott questioned, phrasing the words in a way that made it seem more rhetorical than anything else. "Go ahead, you've been dying to do it ever since I suggested we do this."

A grin spread over Elliott's face. He turned towards the city and stared at it. Impossibly the streets started to rise. The slope was gentle at first, but soon the streets of London were standing vertically in front of them. The people and vehicles just kept on going, the 90° turn leaving them completely unaffected. But Elliott wasn't finished yet, the streets continued bend, until they made one perfect open-ended cuboid. It was clearly a reference to Inception.

Kay looked at John., about to reply to his remark when Elliott mentioned about showing off. She raised an eyebrow wondering what on earth he could do to show off. This was impressive enough as it was to her. Then he went and proved that he could indeed do a lot more than what he had already done so far and she mentally stood corrected.

She was amazed that they were completely unaffected and the reference of the picture in front of her did not go amiss. "Okay Inception, you made a point. Consider me impressed and weirded out" she smirked, her tone laced with sass. She couldn't deny the kid had skills that was for sure. "So... now what? As amazing as all this is, i'm not really seeing answers." She began, "And yes i'm aware i'm sounding like a broken record blah blah blah" She finished, smirking. She did sound like a broken recorded and she hated that fact but being so close to an answer was utterly eating her up inside. All she was getting at this current state in time was more questions than answers, and she could have sworn it was beginning to leave a bad taste in her mouth.

Elliott was delighted that she got the reference, but business was business "Now we take a trip into the mind of John Constantine" he responded as if looking into somebody else's mind was completely normal and happened on a regular basis in his life. "You know what to do" he told John, as he placed a hand on John's forehead. As he removed his hand a strange liquidy substance came with it. At the same time the scene began to change.

Kay found herself in the same street that they drove down last night, only this time they weren't in Chas's cab, they were suspended high in the sky above it. She saw the cab veer into the wall and could only watch as the events of last night unfolded before her eyes. The ddmon attacks, the carrion crows, her tranformation, everything. She saw it play out before her eyes like a film.

She nodded when Elliott said they can now go seek answers. She watched as he pulled John's memories from the previous night from his forehead. Honestly, she thought it was equally gross and fascinating. She was surprised all this didn't unnerve her the way it probably should have done. She watched as the scene completely changed around them.

She saw the beginnings of the scene be familiar to her, the cab crashing, the demons. It was weird seeing it from above instead of down below. She remembered the bit when Fee's screaming made her double over slightly, causing the biggest headache she's had in a very very long time. Then came the new stuff, her transformation. She watched as wings sprouted from her tattoo/birth mark. They matched the colouring perfectly but looked so much more feathery. She couldn't believe they were real. Her jaw dropped slightly agape when the demons attacked and they all fought their hardest to stay alive. She watched as she threw fire so strong it burned demons. She saw John fight alongside and Chas be a badass shot with the shotgun.

Kay watched as Chas got caught by the carrion crows and died brutally and it shook her to her core as the scene continued and she was running with John before she saw her whole body get engulfed in flames but her body didn't scorch. Then the flames died and her eyes from a burning golden ember colour to being closed as she was passed out on the floor next to John. She had her answer, but it was not one she was fully expecting. It did however explain to her why so many creatures want her. She had read enough mythology books when she was in university to know what all that meant. It also would explain a lot from the dreams she had... she was a bloody Phoenix.

"I'm a phoenix?" She gasped

The scene died away and for the briefest instant Kay caught sight of a wall of metal vaults, each one securely locked and deadlocked. A small plaque labelled them, but before Kay could read any of them, the scene vanished. She found herself back on the rooftops of Elliott's London, standing in the same position as when they first arrived. In response to her gasp Elliott nodded, while John explained.

"Yes, that is true. Which means, not only are you bloody powerful and extremely rare, you are extremely dangerous in the hands of the wrong people. Hence hell and their interest in you. A person with your level of power working for them could cause chaos, both in this realm and down below."

It was obvious now why John had chosen to show her. He couldn't be sure that she would believe him if he just came out with it when she asked.

Noticing those vaults being heavily locked, she made a mental note to remember that in case it ever warranted being brought up in conversation. She was always one for observing anything and everything around her. Now she's well and truly involved in the magical world, she knew she had to be even more observant.

She looked at John when he began explaining the reality of her entire being. She took in everything he was saying, and it was evident on her face that she was really letting it all sink in. "Good job I've been running FROM them and not towards them then" was about all she could possibly say. Last thing she would ever want is to be the cause of utter brutal chaos toward anyone. She was always the complete opposite to violent growing up. She'd always be the one helping the bullied, not being the bully. She would be confrontational to the people who deserved it, but she would normally ever be violent. Now here she was, seeing a whole new side to her that WAS violent.

"Guess it's lucky you got me before they did huh?" She added, her tone surprisingly calm despite the obvious 'i'm still trying to process this' under tone she had. "I get it now.. why you wanted to show me, and I apologise for being an impatient bitch" She finished. She felt it was the right thing to say at that given moment. It was then she realised something, "So...Fee is like my other self? The phoenix side?" She thought out loud. She really was taking remarkably well considering.

All things considered Kay was taking things very well, both John and Elliott noticed this. She would spend a lot of time processing what she had saw in the days to come, they both knew that. No matter how okay she seemed to be with being a pheonix, it would take a lot of getting used to and she wouldn't be able to see the world the same way again, ever.

"From what I've observed, yes, she is. But I'm guessing that there is a way to merge both of you together and create one fluid being, instead of the split personality you have going on now, but I couldn't say for sure. I'm no magical master when it comes to this. But what I do know is that everuthing has changed now. Hell knows what you are, and they won't stop until they have you. So the real question is, what are you going to do next?"

Kay looked up when John responded to her thoughts. She didn't fully twig she even thought out loud but in a way, she was glad she did because it meant the answers were still coming. She hated hearing the term 'split personality' but she knew there was no other way of explaining it. It was exactly that, even if it did make her feel she was crazy in a way.

Hearing John say he was no magical master with these sort of things made her smirk the tiniest bit as it reminded her of what was on his business card that Chas had given her. She nodded in agreement as he said about everything changing now. 'Understatement of the century' she thought to herself. She grimmaced when he said Hell wouldnt stop until they had her. She didn't want to be some demon's weapon of mass destruction. She has never EVER let anyone use her for their own needs, and this wasn't going to be different. She looked him and Elliott both straight in the eye with a determined expression on her face.

"I have gone my whole life with the mindset of no one is using me and that doesn't change just because I'm this super duper rare magical being. I don't care if its fellow humans or demons... i'm NOT being used as a damn weapon. So it comes to this, we find out if there's a way of melding myself and Fee together so I don't go insane from the voice in my head and I learn how the fuck to fight and stand my ground." She told them. Her tone was just as determined as her stance and expression. She had had enough of running, she didn't want to just exist and survive anymore, she wanted LIVE.

"So.. you down for helping me or what?" She said one last time, a small smile creeping to the side of her lips.

John was impressed by her metaphorical balls, but wondered if she really had any idea how dangerous a world she was walking into, he'd told her multiple times that magic was dangerous, but still wasn't sure she fully understood. But the time would come when she saw just how awful the world of magic could be. The drama of last night with the carrion crows was just a taste. And he wasn't the world's best teacher either, he rembered the words he'd said to his last companion/student "everyone who puts their trust in me dies."

He didn't want anyone else to die because of him. But if Kay does or worse, was captured because he refused to teach her, he would carry that regret with him all his life. As he already did when it came to so many others. He knew that he couldn't refuse to help, the universe had put him in this situation and he was damn well going to see it through.

"I'll help, but I warn you, I am in no way any kind of teacher or could life example."
people have a habit of dying around me he thought to himself

Kay got that this magical world was dangerous. She was just too damn fed up of running to let it bring her down and cower in a corner as it tore her down. To say she was hot headed and stubborn as Hell now had a whole literally meaning, but it summed her up perfectly. She smiled and nodded when he said he'd help her. "Here's a new found team up" She told him.

She was now too determined to not die, and if any of the myths of the phoenix that she read were indeed true, she had a feeling she'd survive just about anything that was thrown her way. After all, the main lore about them were that she just get reborn from their own ashes, so they never truly die. She just hoped that lore applied to herself. "well now you know the truth, and yes.. that does apply to you as well" Fee suddenly out of the blue spoke to her. It completely threw her off guard and it made her tilt her head, close her eyes and grit her teeth, before reopening her eyes again. "Aaand she awakes" she muttered to herself.

"And, thank you. Both of you." She added, feeling fully grateful to them both for giving her the missing piece to her life back.

The words 'team up' were not high on John's list of favourite activities to do in his so called "free time'. On a scale of 1 to 10, with one being lord vapoursie me now to save me from this awfulness and 10 being this was the best fucking idea ever team ups were hovering at the negative 254 mark. His usual team ups imvolved the Justice League pissing about with bureaucracy and not actually doing anything. Then when they did something they usuaĺly fucked it up and blamed it on each other. Or when John went and solved said problem they hated his solution and declared that they would never again work with him. Wankers!

"yeah well. I guess the more important question is what next?" Elliott remained silent throughout the whole exchange, his expression giving no clue to the ghoughts running through his head.

Truth be told, she had no clue what it was like to be in a team as such. Friendships sure, she knew what that was like. But a team to fight back all things nasty? That's all new territory for her. One thing she knew though was that she for some crazy reason trusted John, Chas and Elliott. She would have said she was utterly insane, but then she remembered she has a voice inside her head and she's not entirely human. Trusting a group of three guys was the LEAST insane thing in her life right now.

"You tell me! I'm not exactly versed in this whole world am I? And Fee is hardly ever useful, she's as stubborn as I am which is a pain in my ass." She quipped. She did wonder why Elliott was so quiet but she decided to not approach that subject. It wasn't her place to say anything.

It was Ellliott who answered, finally snapping out of whatever thought daze he was in "I guess self defence and escape are the best places to start. If you can't fight back, then getting out of the situation immediatly is your best bet. We can't always rely on there to be antimatter in the boot of Chas's taxi." The last part was directed at John.

John "admitedly that was for emergencies only. It is bloody hard to steal after all. And I'm pretty sure the murder birds counted as an emergency." "They did,but it shouldn't have happened at all" A pause in which John eyed Elliott suspiciously "i guess parkour basics is the best place to start."
