Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

She saw the state of him and felt guilty pressing for answers. She sighed knowing she was probably coming across as unbelievably selfish.

"Sorry...it can wait until tomorrow" she replied to him. She did feel glad he had an idea but the knowing it was bringing just as many questions to him as answers made her think she was more complex than she could ever have thought.

"D-do you mind if I crash here tonight?" She asked hesitantly. She didn't want to impose on him but she really didn't want to step outside knowing what's out there right now.

Thankfully she got the hint. "Yeah, it can. I'm beat and covered in demon blood and I don't think you are doing much better. I don't mind at all if you crash here, with all the wards it is probably the safest place to be tonight. You can take the spare room" he gestured to the room she had woken up in earlier.

"It's a bit all over the place, but I'm sure you can deal with a few cardboard boxes."
None of the boxes contained magical stuff, in fact their contents were 100% non magical. That didn't mean that they weren't interesting though.

"thanks" she said to him when he said she could stay at his. He was right, a few cardboard boxes she could deal with. She's dealt with worse things for the night. With a lot of effort she pushed herself up off the sofa.

"If it's no problem, I'll take a shower" she said to him. She looked at how beaten he was, and in that instance she saw a completely different John to the one she first met in that side street. She mentally shook the thoughts out of her head. Now was not the time to see people in other lights. All she wanted was to get clean and sleep the horrors of the day away, despite feeling like she slept through most of the horrors. That realisation would keep her up most of the night.

"Not at all. Bathroom's that way," he gestured at the bathroom door before. "If you need anything, give us a shout."

He stood up and walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge. For once there was food in there. He pulled out an old tupperware box with a stir fry in it and began to eat. He would wait until Kay was in the shower, then make his call.

Kay nodded and headed to the bathroom. She walked in closing the door behind her, undressing, letting her clothes drop to the floor as she stepped into the shower, turning it on and letting the hot water just wash over her. Grime and demon blood washing down her body and down the drain.

With closed eyes she ran her hands through her hair before placing her hands on the shower wall to get water down the back of her head and neck. She sighed as the water relaxed her.

However as she relaxed, she got waves of what happened to Chas flash through her mind. It made her slide down and sit in the shower as she silently cried for the man she barely knew.

She was in there for a good fifteen minutes before she composed herself, stepped out and grabbed the nearest towel wrapping it round her, grabbing her clothes and walking to the spare bedroom.

As soon as the shower turned on John picked up his phone and dialled. No reply, yet. but he knew that owner would see his message which went something like. "mate, I'm so sorry about earlier. That was no part of the plan whatsoever. Sorry about your ride, I presume it can be fixed in the usual way? That bloody enchantment was one of your nest ideas to date. Anyway, when you're back to normal send us a message. I owe you big time. We need to talk about her, and what to do next, cos you know as well as I do, what that kind of power is capable of in the wrong hands." John hung up, then dialled the second number, pressing the phone tight against his ear.

it went to voicemail, as usual. It had been like this for months. He was probabaly busy or lost his phone, some mundane thing like that, but it didn't stop John from worrying. He hated to admit that he was concerned about somebody's wellbeing, but in this case, he really was. "It's me, yes again. I know you are a teenager, young adult, whatever the correct term is and going for ages without communication is normal, but I have to check in. T's missed you by the way. So yeah, come by soon because we got a problem. The demons from hell are trying to kill somebody of an important kind. We need your eyes on this one. And Chas is dead, that's how serious it is. So it would be much appreciated if you got your broody ass over here immediately." he hung up, just before Kay left the shower.

He chucked the coat on the hook and went to take a shower himself. Little bits of glass fell from his hair as the water ran over him. He didn't bother to dry his hair, instead pulling on a old t-shirt and trousers before collapsing on his bed with wet hair.

(cool, just replying as per usual ready for tomorrow)

Kay walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge. She put her underwear and vest on so she could use the towel to towel dry her hair. She was completely oblivious to the phone calls John had.

She got into the bed staring up at the ceiling before glancing around the room. John really did have a lot of boxes laying around. She toyed with being nosey, before deciding against it. It wasn't in her nature to poke around other people's belongings when they're being kind enough to keep her safe.

She turned her attention back to the ceiling tapping her fingers on her chest. She was awake most of the night before she fell asleep.

It was just shy of three in the morning when the two figures stopped outside the apartment. In the gloom of the corridor it would just be possible to make out that both were male. They were both tall and slim, and spoke in hushed tones outside the door. They embraced each other tight, one whispering a promise into the other's ear, before they went their separate ways. One back down the stairs, the other into the apartment.

The male had no problem getting through the wards. He sealed them securely after himself. He sling his long leather coat on the coat hook next to John's trenchcoat. He set a pile of brown A4 envelopes on the table and put a bag of food in the fridge. He then unlocked the third bedroom and craused out on the bed.

Time skip to morning

The smell of pancakes and bacon, along with sound of voices murmuring in the kicthen would be the first things Kay heard the next morning

Kay had nightmares during the night. It made her sleep restless and broken. Her nightmares always happened after Fee took over her body- unbeknownst to her that that was the cause. The nightmares consisted of broken images of what Fee did.

In the morning she woke up, darting bolt up right and panting. Her forehead was sweaty and her heartbeat going ridiculously fast. After looking around to familiarise herself with where she was, she began to calm down. She dried her head and swung herself into a sitting position on the bed when the muffled voices and smell of food cooking caught her attention. Leaning down to her bag she pulled out a clean pair of ripped jeans and pulled them on, standing up and headed out the room.

She walked into the kitchen, "morning" she greeted groggily.

Chas looked up from his position in the armchair. He had been reading a newspaper, today's headline being "Cabinet memeber claims to have been abducted and interogated by aliens". There was absaloutely no sign of injury. He looked exactly as he had been yesterday, except for the fact that he was wearing slightly different clothes. "Morning" he said gruffly "sorry you had to see that last night."

The figure cooking looked up, he was dressed in black jeans and a faded grey t-shirt. His concentration was focused on the four frying pans in front of him, which were all suspended magically in mid air over a gaint gas flame. From the smell it was clear that one contained bacon, the other pancakes. The shadow cast by the kitchen light hid his face, but the London accent was instantly recognisable as he spoke. "morning' "

"C-chas?!" She stammered, now fully awake. She couldn't help herself, she ran over and hugged him tightly. "oh my god!" She cried. Sure, she barely knew him but that didn't stop her being ridiculously happy to see he was alive. He has been so kind to her from the get go and that meant alot to her, so seeing him alive made her so happy. The guilt she felt last night was starting to vanish.

She let go eventually looking towards the kitchen, "something smells good!" She chimed, her upset from her nightmares now gone and a bit of happiness returning to her.

Chas knew from Kay's reaction that John hadn't mentioned the whole "my best mate is kind of immortal" thing. And honestly, that didn't surprise him. But what did surprise him was who he had answered the door when he arrived at the apartment. John was going to be delighted when he woke up.

The man in the kitchen laughed in amusement at Kay's reaction. "He didn't tell you then? Chas is kind of immortal. As with all things with our John, its a long and complicated story." He stepped out into the loght and leaned against the wall. He looked about twenty or twenty one, with long messy black hair that reached to just above his shoulders. The tips were dyed red. His skin was tanned and his face was angular.

But the most defining feature of his face was the scar. It crossed straight through his right eye, starting midway up his forehead and ending at the topp of his cheek bone. It cut through his thick eyebrow and probabaly ran over his eyelid too. It was an old scar, but it gave him a slightly fierce and edgy look. His eyes were a pale blueish grey.

"no he did not mention it" she confirmed their guesses. "But I'm glad to see you alive Chas" she beamed. She then took in the new guy's appearance. 'holy hell!' she thought to herself.

She got up and walked over holding out her hand, "I'm Kay...Kay Hale" she introduced herself. She may be excited over Chas being immortal and still with them but that didn't mean she forgot her manners. She was also so glad she didn't just walk out in her vest and underwear like she would have done any other time.

Usually she wouldn't care who saw her like that, but she didn't want to come across negatively inside John's home.

It was then that John emerged from his room. He was dressed almost identically to yesterday, white shirt and black trousers. They were evidnetly a clean pair as they were not covered in demon's blood. His hair was a mess, but then again, when wasn't it.

His eyes bulged outwards at the sight of the new guy. "Bloody hell." He yelled delightedly a grin spread across his face "It's about time you wandered back in here, you bastard." The word bastard was clearly a term of affection in this context, judging off both John's tone and the guy's reaction. He smirked "I missed you too, you wanker." Again the word wanker was clearly affectionate.

It wasn't clear who started it, maybe it was John, maybe it was the new guy, or maybe it was both of them, but the two hugged each other tight, as if they hadn't seen each other in ages. That was actually the case, as Chas knew all too well. They broke apart and looked at each other, "you've got a lot of explaining to do" they remarked simultaneously

Kay looked over her shoulder when she heard John get up and appear. Seeing him grin at this new guy, she smiled because it was the first time she witnessed John look genuinely happy.

She looked over at Chas briefly before looking back to John and the other guy. 'so it is possible for John to seem normal' she thought to herself. She did also wonder how he knew this guy. "Care to introduce me or.....?" She couldn't help but chime in after they spoke in unison about having some explaining to do.

The two turned to face her. The stranger went first. "The name I call myself is Elliott Quinn." John took over, in what Chas knew was a well established routine by now. This wasn't the first time the two had had to explain themselves. "But legally, well, his name is is Elliott Constantine" John finished with a smirk.

Chad had herad it all before, but the reactions still didn't get any less amsuing. Nobody pegged John as the parental type, and nobody (except one person) ever saw it coming (but they were a pre-cog, so that didn't count.)

The two smirked, waiting for Kay's reaction.

Kay smiled "well it's nice to meet y-- wait, what?" She suddenly twigged what the two of them said. Elliott was John's SON?! she slowly nodded a smidge wide eyed and SUPER glad she didn't think about flirting with Elliott or anything. She was sooooo glad that didn't even come to her mind to do. She could only imagine what would have been the reaction if John saw that.

"O.....Kay! How.....exactly is he your son? Coz no way are you old enough to have him as your biological son" she said, partly rambling now in an awkward but naiive adorable way. She came across as totally different woman to the sassy one the last few days John and Chas experienced.

( her reaction and body language on par to this )

Chas, Elliott and John just all burst out laughing at Kay's reaction. There was no malice in it though. It took them quite a while to reddem their composure. The reactions never got old, and Kay's had been spectacularly funny. The fact that it jad took a while to sink in made it all the better.

Elliott eventually explained "I'm adopted. After what happened John took me in and raised me. Chas helped too." He didn't go into detail about what happened, but it was clear from the way his shoulder's stiffened that he wasn't as over the incident as he portrayed himself to be. It could even be theorised that this incident may have something to do with his scar.

Chas nodded. "Considering I'm the only responsible one out of John and I, I felt I had go make sure he didn't fuck it up. Luckily he did a pretty good job of it"
Hsi eyes narrowed in mock accusation at John when he talked about responsibility.

(An early finish for me today, I have band practice soon, and that'll take like 2 hours)

(that's fine!)

Kay slowly nodded in acknowledgement of what was being told to her. "Okay, sure! That makes sense!" She quipped. She noticed Elliott's shoulders tense up and she knew not to pry. She was in no position to drill a stranger about his past that got him to being adopted by John.

She didn't even mind being laughed at. The rare moments she was slow at getting what was said to her, people usually did laugh at her. So she was used to it. She even just shrugged it off.

When Chas joined in the conversation she smiled, "now THAT I can believe!" She grinned.

Elliott turned to Chas, "that reminds me, how's Trish doing?" It was clear from his tone that he cared. "Well your almost sister punched another girl in the face delivering one hell of a left hook, then gave her a roundhouse kick and broke a few ribs. Know anything about how she might have aquired these skills?" Chas asked pountedly, one eyebrow raised.

"Errrr, no. Maybe it was John? Or Renee, that woman has some serious frying pan skills." Of course, it had been Elliott who taught her. Who else? She was after all basically his youngr sister. They'd grown up together. Elliott did have a biological sister, but he wasn't going to go into that story.

"You can lie way better than that Ellliott, stop faking it" John laughed. Elliott just rolled his eyes. "You owe her a gaming night and Chinese." Chas told him. "If by gaming night you mean the two of them gtting totally hyper and acting like deranged people, then yes, he does, its been too long." "Tell her I'll be over later. Now a more important question. What the bloody hell have I missed?"

Kay watched them banter and the family unit they had going on was evident. She missed experiencing what that was like. Her folks arent around anymore. Her mother died when she was young, and her father? He just went off the grid at some point during her teens.
She didn't harbour any ill-will against him however. She just grew up a lot quicker than most teenagers and lived with her best friend Ethan and his parents, until they both went into university band got a place of their own. The rest is history so they say really.

Elliott actually reminded her of Ethan before he turned on her. With the way he clearly cared for Trish that is. Then he asked what he had missed and she wondered if she should speak up or not.

"John and Chas kinda got roped into my shit. Demons after me coz I'm some rare valuable being or something but I have no clue about anything" she explained.

"Ah John, still riding the old syncronity wave I take it. What does the universe demand of you this time?" Elliott questioned, his interest piqued. He moved back towards the pancakes and satrted doling them out on plates "Don't get me bloody started on that damn thing! It's a bloody nusiance" "In other words the ususal, help somebody discover who they truly are, try not to get them killed and/or abducted by the forces of hell, in this case quite a lot of hell forces seem to be after her."

Elliott put three plates on the coffee table, John and Chas both grabbing what was evidently their plate. Chas's had an unhealthy amount of maple syrup, while John's had extra bacon. He then extinguished the flame. Elliott than sat himself up on the kitchen counter, tucking one long leg under the other dangling one. He speared a piece of pancake.

"I'm not surprised about the lots of hell forces part, all things considered"
he replied, and indeed he didnt seem to be suprised in the slightest. John and Chas eyed him curiously, clearly not expecting that answer.

Kay leaned against the wall listening to the three of them reply over what she said to Elliott. What Elliott said did surprise her though, did he know what she was??

"All things considered? Sorry, I'm lost here...care to explain?" She asked, she could swear she was getting more confused each passing day it seemed.

Elliott looked at John and Chas, "you're seriously saying that I am the only one who can sense the power radiating off her?" John and Chas nodded slowly. "It's just you" "Bollocks," he muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair and tipping his head back towards the ceiling. This was a futile getsure as the hair simply flopped back to it's original messy position.

"I have to ask, is Kay human?" There was something starnge about the way he said human, like it didn't quite sound right on his tongue.

Kay blinked a couple of times trying to take in what he was asking John and Chas. 'power??' then she thought to herself about the times fire has come from her hands.

"I don't know if I am or aren't. I've used fire but I'm not always in control. I don't even know HOW I conjure it... Then yesterday I blanked out...I lost time." She started, she knew John would be able to fill in about the previous day's situation alot better than she could. She had the feeling she did something but she just doesn't remember a thing.

All she knows is she was standing at one point, then woke up covered in demon blood on the floor somewhere else
