Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

A wicked gleam appeared in Jay's eyes when Kay said the words 'surprise me'. Elliott saw it and shook his head. "Oh hell no! I know that look. Whatever you are thinking, it's an awful idea. You may be the only one of who can make a decent cocktail, but no. Don't even think about it."

"Think about what?" John and Chas asked in unison. "Letting her make a dealers choice drink. She's like Sheryl when it comes to this." "So insanely talented at drinks, but you will get totally pissed drunk within 1.2 seconds?" John asked. Elliott nodded gravely.

"When she's over, invite me to the piss up." Jay smirked. "I'll make it a night you'll never remember, but with the best booze." "Challenge accepted." John told her, as he strated pulling random crap out of the cupboards.

And in that instant Kay knew she definitely would have regretted her words the moment it became apparent Jay wanted to get her piss drunk. She was definitely glad Kay wasn't the one making the drinks.

Kay wasn't exactly sure that telling John to give her anything was such a bright idea either but by the sounds and look of Elliott's reaction to Jay, she'd rather take her chances with John. "It's fine... If I get too drunk John has to deal with me. It's how I roll whoever gets me wrecked deals with the consequences. If Sam was here she'd tell you many a regretted moment of hers getting me wrecked" she grinned.

Chas snorted "Nope, it'll be me who has to deal with you drunken people." John put a hand on Chas's shoulder. "and we shall be eternally greatful, and besides, I'm not going to get that drunk mate." His tone was sincere, he was not going to get pissed drunk today. "Good." was all the cabbie said.

John poured out a glass of strange amber liquid that seemed to glow and passed over it over to Jay. "You said strong, try this." She took the glass and waiting as John mixed up something different, pouring one glass for himself and another for Kay, which he passed over.

Kay smirked at Chas and John. When Chas said about it would be him dealing with them, she got the impression Chas was a bit too used to being the gopher for drunk John and Elliott. John especially.

She took the glass from John thanking him in the process. Old habits die hard with Kay, and thanking people was one of those habits. It showed alot about her upbringing. She took a sip and was so glad for the drink finally.

"If you're expecting some kind of fancy speech, you aren't getting one." John told everybody, to absaloutlzy nobody's surprise. Jay raised her glass and said something in what was presumable her native tongue. And regarless of the language barrier everybody understood it was a toast of some sort.

John and Jay drank slowly, savouring it. Elliott continued at the bag of ice cubes, while Chas lapsed into deep thought.

If he had come out with some kind of speech, Kay would have been surprised. She never once took John for that type and wouldn't expect it from him either.

She thought Jay's native language was beautiful on what little she heard before relaxing with her drink, taking her time with it. Even cheap beers she'd take her time, as was evident on her movie marathon with Kane that night. So in her eyes, this was no different. She just wasn't the 'down it in five seconds' type of woman.

Letting her leg that was crossed over her other drop, she partly leaned on her spare hand whilst still being propped up on the counter. This was the most relaxed she felt in the last few hours, and even then she had things buzzing around her mind, curious to what Chas read about her. She was still taken aback that she was even in the book.

As her thoughts started to take over, she began spacing out and just staring into her drink.

"I'm off, I can't leave Scott high 'n' dry for too long." Jay said, putting down her glass on the countertop. She gave Elliott a look "unless the others are back in time, you've got the night shift today." He nodded. "Tell Scott I say thanks for covering for me and that i owe him one."

With that Jay walked out, pulling on her biker jacket. The house hadn't left it's position in the field, so she mounted the bike and drove back. But not before putting a tracker on Chas's cab and John's bike.

Kay snapped out her thoughts when Jay spoke up about leaving. She watched as Jay left before drinking more of her. She had obviously been sipping it as she spaced out but didn't really noticed until she found she had reached the end.

She put the glass down beside her on the counter, a little discreet sigh left her lips as she did so. Her feet swinging back and forth slightly, glancing down she noticed she had a hair tie on her wrist and pulled at it, before deciding to loosely side braid her hair and use the tie.

John, like Kay and Chas was deep in his own thoughts. And as usual, thee were far too many of them. Chas reading the book was the right call. No doubt the cabbie would keep some of the information from him and that was probably for the best too. But he was still wishing chas would bloody hurry up and tell them.

Elliott was the only one who wasn't spaced out. The text came through. Done, will activate at Hub just as he expected it to. He replied back, before tucking the phone away and shoving the ice in the freezer.

Like John, Kay had similar thoughts about Chas and telling more about what he read. Yet at the same time, did she really want to know? She couldn't even read it herself. "No..I have to know what the book knows about me..." She thought to herself.

Truth be told, she was glad it was Chas who read it. As bonded to John as she was, she wasn't sure how much of what was in there would make him think differently of her, if anything at all. That scared her more than anything else. She wanted to say something, or ask Chas how he getting on with processing everything but she didn't want to come across as impatient, even though she was. Glancing at John she sensed he was the same as her.

Elliott looked around at everybody, so clearly stuck in their own heads. For all he knew, they could be like this for hours on end. And honestly he didn't want to be stuck in a room full of brooding people, who clearly were too wrapped up in gheir own thoughts to talk. Hypocirtical of him, he knew.

"I'll hazard a guess and say I am not needed either. Chas'll mull over it for a while, then decide that the best thing to do is to go out and work. Then if he wants to, he'll give his answers tomorrow." Elliott stated aloud.

Kay looked up when Elliott spoke up. It was then she truly realised just how quiet they all had been. She felt slightly bad that it had gotten so quiet and he felt had to break the silence with such a statement.

"Sorry Ell, guess it's all just playing on our minds a lot...it is me that's for sure." she replied. "I guess we should find something to do to pass the time" she added, jumping off the counter.

He shrugged, "understandable, I'd be the same. And actually I do have an opp that needs to be planned anyway, so I should be getting back." It was more of hesitant than an operation, but the others didn't need to know that. "Besides, time in The House passes differently, so I'd say it's late evening by now."

John nodded in confirmation. "It is? So I guess that means I should be leaving too." Chas added, looking at his watch.

Kay was glad that Elliott understood why she and the others were being the way they were. She nodded when he said about having to get going. "Sure, catch ya later" she replied.

Then Chas said he should be getting on aswell which meant it left just her and John. "What's our game plan John?" She asked him. She had to just accept that Chas won't tell them a thing until tomorrow at least.

"You probably wont" Elliott answered as he and Chas got up to leave. "I'll be back at some strange hour of the morning, so unless you're sleeping on the couch again, you won't see me." He said, before leaving the room, Chas following shortly after, his cab keys already in his hand.

John turned to face her. "we can either stay here the night and try dig up more stuff in the library. Or we can head back to the apartment and continue brooding there. Or we can try and think of something that isn't option one or two." He replied.

Kay nodded to Elliott when he replied then watched as he left with Chas closely behind. She looked toward John when he replied to her with three options. Option 2 didnt seem like an option to her. She felt like she had been doing too much brooding for a while.

"Think I've done enough brooding for a long while so that's out. So either option 1 or 3." She began saying, "thinking about it I personally feel we need to relax a bit and take a break from digging around about my past/present and future. We need to be just be us for a bit. Think we deserve it" she told him, stepping up to him, trailing her fingers up the front of his shirt.

John agreed with her on everything except doing enough brooding. For him, it was never possible to do enough brooding. But then again he was John Constantine, he wasn't exactly normal. "I have to agree, I've done far too much logical thinking for one day."

Gently he put an arm around her, pulling her closer.

She smiled when he agreed with her. "Definitely done too much logical thinking for one day" she agreed, as she draped her arms over his shoulders. The closeness between them really helped relieve the tension she was feeling.

"So...we ought to find something to do to relax" she said, her smile edging on the flirtatious side at this point.

He couldn't deny that their closeness was affecting him. Whatever bond had been prophecised between them, it had definitly manifested. But the real question was how strong would it get and what would it turn into.

"I guess we do." He smirked back. Two could play at this game.

She wondered how strong their bond would get for quite a while now, particularly from the moment he all but admitted it was there without saying so much and accepted it.

Seeing him smirk, Kay knew he was playing this little game that had started between them. "But what...I mean, it's not like we're alone in this house or anything" she said, not breaking away from his eyes as she practically danced her fingertips up the back of his neck and into his hair.

"Are you sure about that?" he asked her his voice containing a teasing tone, continuing whatever this game, this teasing dance that they had started, was. He kept her gaze, his icy-blue eyes unblinking. "This is after all The House of Mysteries, who knows what could be lurking here." his tone faking being ominous.

Kay smirked, she had no idea of he had noticed or not but he was succeeding in teasing her. When he replied with what he did she faked a little pout, her eyes giving her away though.

"Well...if that's the case..." Her voice trailing off, her tone almost having a melody to it as she slowly pulled away, pretending to turn away. She was enjoying this little game way too much with him.

"Of course anything that is lurking is nowhere near as good looking as me." he smirked leaning back against the counter. He was enjoying himself, far more than he should be, and that was visible in his eyes.

She turned back to him and smirked raising an eyebrow at his words. "Oh is that so?" She asked, her tone never wavering that playful tone. She stood extremely close to him, taking his tie and wrapping it in her hand, pulling him towards her so she was mere millimetres away from him.

She bit her bottom lip ever so slightly, and she could see he was equally enjoying this moment between them as she was. Her eyes had that glint in them.

"Oh it most definitly is." He recognised the glint in Kay's eyes and knew it well. He had no doubt that it would be mirrored in his own. "There is nothing in this house quite like me." he whispered, his breath warm against her face.

Them teasing each other like this was probably a completly and utterly stupid idea that go wrong in so many ways.

But it was a hell of a lot of fun.
