Indelible (For Caspen)

Fenris

"You do?" I asked, pushing the door open and led him out with me, closing just the screen behind us. "We'll have to spend some time out here, then." I brushed a few stray leaves off a chair and gestured to it. "You want to sit, or did you want to explore?" There wasn't too much to see, but I did have a little garden he might want to look at, and a few different trees.

Trevor:

Shrugging his shoulders slightly, Trevor looked over at the tree near him. Tilting his head to get a better angle, he asked quietly, "Do you mind... if I climbed your tree?" He looked at him curiously, hoping he wouldn't find it too odd a request.

Fenris

I paused, surprised, but nodded a little and just walked towards it with him. "O-Of course. If you're feeling up to it and don't think you'll hurt yourself, you can do whatever you'd like. These old trees are sturdy, so they're safe to climb." I just worried about him being able to hold his own weight, but I would stay close, in case he started to fall. I didn't mind if he wanted to try.

Trevor:

Smiling over at Fenris, Trevor jumped up and grabbed the lowest branch, pulling himself up onto the branch. He giggled a little, feeling really happy for the first time in a while. He looked over at Fenris, who was now at eye level with him.

Fenris

I laughed a little with him when he seemed so happy, just leaning a hand against the tree and waiting almost completely beneath him to be safe. "Having fun?" I said, smiling still. "You should see when the apple tree blossoms. It's pretty." I was sure he would like it. It was barely starting to bud now, so it wouldn't be too long before the flowers started to bloom.

Trevor:

Smiling down at Fenris, Trevor nodded, biting his lip slightly. He clung tightly to the tree, a little scared of falling off. Finding a new grip on the trunk of the tree, Trevor's hand touched Fenris' , blushing slightly when their hands touched. "I can't wait to see it," Trevor said, referring to the apple trees.

( so sorry, job and then the site didn't work? )

((I totally understand. Yeah, the server was down for 24 hours or so. Was cool for me because the day it happened I was super busy xD ))

Fenris

I looked up at him when he touched my hand and just gave a small smile, brushing the tipes of my fingers over his wrist to let him know I was here, that it was all right. "Let me know if you need help getting down." He seemed nervous, but not so much so that he wasn't having fun being up where he was. He wasn't very high, at least. It would be easy to get him down.

Trevor:

Nodding, Trevor swung down from the tree, his landing being less painful than he expected, yet still painful. He had also landed closer to Fenris than he had expected, standing only inches away from him, looking up at Fenris.

Fenris

There was a moment in which the air hung still between us, and I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. I had a hand out, instinctively, when he jumped down, curling around his elbow in case he wavered or fell. But I broke the silent when I knew he was steady, pulling my hand away and taking a step back. "Do you want to sit out here for a while? I just cleaned the porch chairs a few days ago, so it should be all right." I didn't think he would mind if they were a little dirty, but I did. I didn't like my home feeling too disorganized or dirty.

Trevor:

Nodding, Trevor bit his lip a little, "I would like that." The two walked to the chairs and Trevor let his smaller hand slip into Fenris' much bigger hand. He was still limping slightly from before, Trevor tried to keep from showing it too much.

Fenris

I looked back at him when he caught my hand, curling my fingers gently around his, and just led him back up the steps. I settled him in a chair and pulled another over close so that he wouldn't have to let go if he didn't want to, taking my seat next to him. "Did you hurt your ankle?" I asked gently once we were settled, squeezing gently at his hand. "I can rub it for you, if you'd like, or we can get ice for it."

Trevor:

Shrugging, Trevor shook his head, "It's okay, really." He looked at the yard, smiling and shifted so that he was more towards Fenris, still holding his hand tightly. He was afraid this wasn't real, that he would wake up and be back in the market waiting to be bought.

Fenris

I nodded and took my shoes off, setting my feet up on the chair next to me because I was comfortable curled up like that. "If you're sure. Do you want any water or something else to drink?" I wanted to make sure he wasnt dehydrated.

Trevor:

Shaking his head, Trevor looked over at Fenris, his face towards his now. Over the past weeks, Trevor had trusted Fenris more and more. He had also felt a feeling for the man growing. He cared for this man a great deal and it made him happy just to be around Fenris. Trevor's eyes searched the man's face as he got settled in his seat. Trevor found the man next to him to be incredibly attractive, and it was odd. He had never felt that way about anyone before and he wasn't sure what to do about it. When their eyes crossed paths, Trevor blushed and looked down at the ground, "I'm sorry."

Fenris

"Sorry?" I smiled a little and just gave his hand a gentle shake to get his attention. "You don't have anything to be sorry." He hadn't even done anything. He'd just looked at me. "It's all right. I . . . I'm not very good at eye contact either." I hadn't spent much time around anyone for years, so it was difficult to stand that level of scrutiny sometimes. But I didn't mind if he wanted to look at me. I could just ignore it and pretend I wasn't uncomfortable.

Trevor:

He looked up nervously at Fenris, chewing his lip as he did. "It's just that..." He stopped himself, worrying that he might sound stupid. He took a breath before he decided to go on and say it anyways, "That I think.... that you are really.... attractive." His cheeks were now completely bright red.

Fernis

"O-Oh." My eyes went a little wide and I flushed a light red, not entirely sure what to say next. "I . . ." No, no, I had to think of something that wasn't inappropriate. But that was looking very impossible right now. I frowned a little and finally shook it off, giving him a faint, embarassed little smile. "Thank you. . . You're very easy on the eyes yourself."

Trevor:

A small smile made it's way to Trevor's lips as he watched Fenris carefully. Their hands being together made Trevor feel a little bit better, as he was very embarrassed for mentioning it. "Oh, really? Well, thank you." He had never thought of himself as good looking and believed himself to be ugly and disfigured. Trevor had never been used to not being able to see most of his ribs, so he felt like he had gotten overweight in the last bit now that he couldn't see them. Every time he would look at himself he would see someone completely different than what other people saw.

Fenris

I nodded a little, turning a few shades darker but pressing on, fingers wriggling a bit for a better grip on his. "You look much better than when I found you and . . . that makes me happy. I'll feel better once I know you're better." When he wasn't looking so thin and his skin wasn't so pale, I would feel better. I didn't think he looked . . . unattractive, but I would much rather see him healthy. That was what was important. A thought occured to me and I just smiled, wanting both of us to feel less uncomfortable. "I'm also glad you're sitting on my good side, so I can see you." Sometimes the blind spot of my left eye was troublesome, so I was glad to have him on my right. That way I could keep checking on him if I needed to.

((I totally forgot about the eye patch until just now xD ))

Trevor:

Smiling, Trevor giggled a little bit. Fenris's eye patch was unique and interesting to Trevor. Before asking Fenris what he was about to, Trevor adjusted his shirt, as it had become disheveled with all the movement. After taking a deep breath, Trevor approached the question, "I hope you don't mind... and if you do I'm very sorry... But I was wondering... how you got that?"

(( lol, me too ))

Fenris

I paused, surprised, and realized that I should have expected the question a lot sooner. That thought did nothing to prepare me for it, though, so I just looked contemplatively at my lap and took a few deep breaths for calm. "I . . . No, I don't mind." I said quietly. "You're going to be staying here, so you should be able to ask whatever you want. You can ask whatever you want. Just . . . give me a moment. To gather the words." I had to decide how to put this delicately, and to perhaps be able to speak of it for the first time in years without growing upset. I should be able to do that by now.

Trevor:

Instantly regretting his decision to ask, Trevor squeezed his hand a little, trying to comfort Fenris. He felt really bad for bringing it up. He should have known not to ask about the past, he knew how hard it was for him to talk about things from his past. "I'm sorry," he said softly.

Fenris

I shook my head, tightened my grip just enough that he would know he didn't have to let go, and just rested a hand to my chin as I considered. "No, no, it's all right. Just, a minute or so." I fell silent for a bit, thinking hard and deciding that, yes, maybe I could do this. I nodded a bit to myself, shifted in my seat, and turned enough to face him, resting my head against the back of the chair so I could just focus, looking at him but not really seeing. Thinking back.

"There . . . There was a person that I loved very dearly, when I was around your age." I started softly, though it felt strange saying that, like I was older than just the few years between us. "We had gone to dinner, and when we were driving back, we got hit. My memory is . . . fuzzy, when it comes to happened. I can't remember if it was my fault or someone else's but, another car blindsided us. She . . . She was on the passenger's side, where it hit, and I was driving, so I took less of an impact, but I hit my head rather hard and was cut by the glass. I spent a long time in the hospital, but there wasn't anything they could do for the damage to my eye. I can hardly see out of it at all anymore, so if I want to see right I have to keep it covered." I could see the questions on his face and just managed a small, sad smile. "She didn't make it." She'd died, while I survived. I had regretted that for a long, long time, and in some ways I still did.

Trevor:

As Fenris told Trevor about what had happened, Trevor felt worse and worse. When he concluded that the girl had not made it, Trevor did something that was unlike anything he usually did. He moved from where he was sitting and hugged Fenris tight. Physical contact normally made Trevor squeamish, but all he could think about was that he wanted to make Fenris feel better.
