In All Truth

Allessandra woke up slowly, the first thing she did was look around. Where were they? She looked at Vladimir and smiled softly. She stood and walked to the entrance of cave. She was blinded by the light for a moment. She covered her eyes and whimpered softly at the burn of the sun. Finally her eyes adjusted to the light and she looked outside.

Vladimir shifted slightly, his arms tucking under his own head as he rolled in his sleep. He had been asleep for sometime, and now the nightmares finally attacked. A soft whimper escaped him as he instinctively curled into a ball. His mind raced through the familiar images. The girl. The village. All the death. He tossed to his other side, groaning softly in his sleep.

Allessandra looked back at him, worried. She walked back over to him and kneeled. She gently shook him, hoping she could wake him up. "Vladimir, wake up," she whispered.

Vladimir's eyes snapped open, and his gaze snapped to Allessandra. He was frozen for a moment as the nightmare faded around him, and reality focused in. His tense body relaxed, and he managed to sit up, putting a hand to his head. "What's wrong?" he asked tiredly, concern in his voice.

Allessandra sighed in relief when he woke up. She looked at him and shook her head. ."I...I just wanted to make sure you were okay. You didn't look like you were sleeping well"

Vladimir smiled softly as he sat up, stretching. "I never sleep very well, princess." He said softly, a sad look passing over his features. He shook his head to clear it. "Even vampires have nightmares." He said lightly, and leaned against the cave wall. He yawned. "How are you feeling?" He asked, glancing at Allessandra.

Allessandra looked around. She wasn't entirely sure how she was feeling. She looked back at him. "I'm alright.." she said. She sat down and crossed her legs as she watched him.

Vladimir grinned, "You're taking this surprisingly well, princess." He chuckled, watching her for a moment. He sighed, and ran a hand through his hair, brushing it out of his face. "There is a small village on near the border of our lands. We can take refuge there." He explained gently, looking towards the cave opening. His eyes squinted against the light, and he looked back to the cave floor before him.

Allessandra said nothing. She looked towards the cave opening for a moment, then sighed and looked down.

Vladimir glanced up at the sound of the princess's sigh. He moved so that he was sitting beside the princess, and hesitantly slipped his hand into hers. "Whatever is on your mind, you can talk me if you need." He offered gently. He squeezed her hand reassuringly, and smiled lightly.

Allessandra looked at him and nodded. "I know. I'm just afraid." she mumbled. She looked down at their interconnected hands and smiled softly. She looked back to him.

Vladimir smiled warmly at the princess, "It's okay to be afraid. I'm here. I'll protect you." he said lightly. He lifted their hands, and lightly kissed her fingers before letting them fall back between them. He leaned against her shoulder, yawning.

Allessandra smiled a little. She couldn't help but feel a little guilty that she couldn't do the same for him.

"Come on. We should probably keep moving. They're bound to be searching for you, and we're losing distance if we don't travel by day as well." he said gently, and stood. He glanced toward the cave opening. "You'll ride. I'll walk beside the horse. It'll be easier to stay in his shadow." he said with a smile. He held out a hand to help Allessandra from the ground.

Allessandra took his hand and stood. She nodded and looked around the cave once more. She looked at him and smiled a little.
