In All Truth

Vladimir chuckled softly as he sat himself on the floor beside the princess, and pulled her against him gently. "Those tears aren't nothing, princess. I'm harder to deceive then most." He said gently.

Allessandra looked at him. She really wanted to get him away from the castle. She didn't care if it meant that she might never see him again, she just wanted for him to be safe. She knew the more time she spent in the library, even at night, would make the servants and her father suspicious. As it was, her father was already suspicious. She looked down for a moment. " I can't.." she mumbled. She wanted to tell him that she had fallen in love with him, but she felt that he would push her away if she did so. She wanted to tell him that Thayer was the reason she was crying and that was why she wanted him somewhere safe. She knew that no matter how much her father pried at her, she would never tell him that she had fallen for a vampire. She couldn't chance that. If she told her father, he would do everything to kill Vladimir. She couldn't let that happen, she would rather die than let that happen.

Vladimir smiled softly, and just held her as they sat. "I won't press you. If you feel you can't, then don't." He said gently, his voice soft. He yawned slightly, but shook himself of the tired feeling. He wanted to say more, but each time he thought to say what had been on his mind, the memory of his nightmare returned. He shivered each time his mind returned to the memory.

Allessandra looked away. She had no clue what she was going to do. She shook her head as she thought. How could she get him out of the castle with no one noticing? She didn't know. Footsteps padded in the distance and she tensed. When she had passed the door she sighed softly in relief. " I love him too much to let anyone try to hurt him. Yes, he is different, but...why should it matter if one is like him and one like me? Oh, right...by nature they are enemies" she whispered softly, mostly to herself. She looked around the room, thinking of a way out.

Vladimir listened quietly, his thoughts wandering. His turned to look at her, his eyes wide. It clicked in his mind by the last part of her words. The memory flashed through his mind again. He shuddered, but kept his eyes on hers. "Have you..." He paused, considering his words carefully. "Do you love me?" He asked finally, his gaze falling from her face. It wasn't a look of disappointment that showed in his eyes, more so a look of fear. He was afraid to love her, and afraid for her to love him. He closed his eyes as he thought. "As I love her to much to leave her side." He finally muttered.

She looked at him. She was silent, only just then realizing that she had said that aloud. She looked down. " I do, but...it's too dangerous," she said, " As in...we need to get you out of the castle." She turned away and stood. She didn't want him to have to leave, but she needed him to be safe. She closed her eyes and walked to a shelf.

Vladimir watched her for a moment. He knew the risks, and the dangers. He stood, and walked over to her. He took her hands into his. "If you want me to leave this castle, then you must come with me. It's as much dangerous for you as it is for me. More so for you." He said, dropping one hand to brush hair from her face and tuck it behind her ear.

Allessandra looked at him. She nodded. If her going with him would get him to leave the castle, She would. In a way she was glad that he had said that, but was also fearful. She had only been out of the castle for a short time. She would just have to learn a new way of life.

Vladimir grinned, and bit his lip for a moment. "Go. Ready yourself for tonight. I'll come to you near midnight when the castle is its most empty." He said softly, embracing her for a quick moment. He lead her back to the door, "Attempt to keep suspicion off your actions, and we will escape tonight." He added gently, and just before he opened the door for her to leave, he stole a quick kiss on her cheek, and disappeared deeper into the library so no one would see him.

Allessandra followed him with her eyes as he disappeared into the depths of the library. She looked back towards the door and walked out as if nothing happened. She nodded to the servants and walked to her room as she thought. She looked around her room, and waited. The rest of the day went nicely. No one suspected a thing and she had been ready well before midnight. She anticipated midnight in her room. She tried her best to get some rest, but it did not come for she was too excited.

Midnight came, and Vladimir slipped silently from the library. As he had thought, the halls were dark and empty. Plenty of hiding places should he have need of them. He retraced the steps he had taken to reach the princess' room from before, and quietly slipped inside when he knew the coast was clear.

Allessandra sat on her bed. She had almost fallen asleep when Vladimir had come into the room. Her eyes closed and her expression peaceful.

Vladimir moved silently over to where the princess sat, and gently shook her shoulder. "Princess." He said softly, whispering close to her ear. She was tired, he could tell, but it was best they left in the cover darkness.

Allessandra blinked sleepily as she opened her eyes. She looked at him and smiled a little. She stood and looked around her room once more.

Vladimir watched her for a moment, "Ready, princess?" He asked softly, moving to take what he assumed were the princess's bags. "The sooner we are gone, the farther we will be when your absence is noticed." He added, picking them up and glancing toward the door.

Allessandra nodded and walked to the door. She contemplated the way out of the castle for a moment.

Vladimir opened the door, and peered out. "We will need a back door, and possibly a way out of the walls that wouldn't alert the guards. Do you know of anything we could use?" He asked softly as he began to lead her through the castle halls. He helped them hide from any passers-by as he could hear and sense them before they got to close.

Allessandra nodded. She looked towards the end of the hall and pointed to what looked like a servants' entry.

Vladimir nodded, and took Allessandra's hand as he lead her through the darkened halls to the servant's entry. They moved in silence, careful, and alert to any and all noises of the castle. They escaped from the stone walls, and now had to cross the open ground to the castle walls. Vladimir pressed himself, and the princess against the outer wall of the castle, and studied the grounds. He noted the guards that were on patrol, counting their steps as they moved. They stood there for near ten minutes before Vladimir glanced at the princess and nodded.

Quietly, he lead her quickly across the grounds, all the while watching for the guards. They made it to the shadows of the wall, and hid beneath an indent that covered a grate in the wall. "Are you sure you want to leave, princess? I can take us both back inside. I don't want you to regret your actions." he whispered as he turned to Allessandra now that they were out of sight of prying eyes. His face was worried, and his voice showed it. He gently squeezed the hand he held in his, in hopes to reassure her, and himself. They would be fugitives from here on out if they left the castle, he for being a vampire in the human's lands, her for being a runaway princess.

Allessandra looked at him. She then looked at the ground. Either way she looked at it, there was danger. Staying in the castle would most likely more dangerous. She couldn't imagine what would happen if they found Vladimir in the castle and frankly, she didn't want to know. She looked at the castle and silently said goodbye to th st comfortable life. She looked over at Vladimir. "I am sure. Either way, it's dangerous." she said softly.

Vladimir watched her face for a moment longer, and nodded. "Alright then. Let's go." he said gently, and looked toward the gate. There was a smaller door beside it that allowed for the passing of servants and guards who came and went from the castle during the day. It would certainly be locked, but that wouldn't be to much of a problem for the vampire. When the coast was clear, he lead the princess to the door. He dropped her hand, and knelt before the lock, examining it carefully.

He pulled set of lock picks from a pocket, and set to work on unlocking the door. He worked quickly, and soon they were out of the castle grounds, and walking through the dark city. "We'll get a horse from near the edge of the city." he commented softly, holding the princess's hand gently again. He lead her through the town, this time with ease. There weren't guards or late night servants to avoid. Just themselves and the stars in the sky.

Allessandra looked around the town, somewhat amazed as she had never seen up close and personal. She looked back to Vladimir and nodded slightly. She looked around the town again. It was an odd sight to her and she didn't know exactly what to think. She closed her eyes and hoped she had made the right choice. Her heart told her that she had, but the buildings and her mind disagreed. Her heart raced and she opened her eyes again. If there was one thing that she was sure of, it was that she didn't want to leave Vladimir's side ever and that she would do anything to make sure that she wouldn't have to, even if it meant that she had to turn into the one thing her father hated most. She looked at Vladimir thoughtfully, then she looked straight forwards, apprehensive to the journey and sort of race they were about to begin.

Vladimir walked silently through the town. It didn't take them long to make it through the empty, dark streets to the edge of town. A large pasture spread out before them. Vladimir made a soft, low whistle, followed by a short clucking sound. Then he waited silently. A moment later, a large horse came galloping over, and Vladimir smiled. "That's the one." he said lightly to the princess.

He moved to the gate, and again picked the lock that was found there. He let the horse out of the pasture, then relocked the fence as if it had never been touched. He moved over to Allessandra, and held out his hand. "It will be faster if we ride together." he said, and boosted her onto the bare back of the horse. He leaped slightly after her, easily landing on the horse's rump and scooting farther onto it's back, sitting behind Allessandra. He reached around her, one arm wrapping securely around her waist, the other reaching for the horse's mane. "Hold on tight." he warned softly, and as soon as she took hold of the horse, he clucked, and squeezed his legs. The horse leaped into a gallop, and they thundered away from the village.

Allessandra nodded and did as she had been told. As soon as she had adjusted to the horse's speed, she felt her eyes start to droop. She shook her head and told herself to stay awake. However much she tried to stay awake, she couldn't. Her eyes closed and she drifted off into a somewhat peaceful sleep.

Vladimir chuckled under his breath when he realized the princess had fallen asleep. He tucked her against himself as they rode into the countryside. They were a decent distance from the capitol city, and the castle, when light began to peek over the horizon. A massive forest surrounded them, and Vladimir knew they needed to stop for awhile. He had slowed the horse to a walk, so that the animal wouldn't trip over any branches or foliage that would send them flying. He picked the way through the trees until he located rocky hillside. A gaping hole opened up on one side, and Vladimir took a deep breath. No scent of anything that would harm him or the princess, and so he dismounted, Allessandra easily remaining in his arms. He patted the horse on the neck, and left it to graze and drink from the nearby stream of its own accord. He was sure it wouldn't wander far.

He moved to the small cave, and peered inside. Dry. Good. He found a fairly smooth place for the princess, and lowered her down carefully. He hadn't wanted to disturb her sleep. Absently, he brushed some hair from her face, watching her peaceful features for a moment. He looked around, and sighed. He was tired, as it was beginning to be morning. He slowly lowered himself to the ground and tucked an arm under Allessandra's head in an attempt to give her a pillow, then let his eyes slip closed.
