Good. Kimi seemed to realize this was not the time for her to be putting on airs and to treat this match as a serious matter. She would surely gain a lot of fans from this and hopefully some friends but most importantly Bushi Agumon would feel devastated from missing this when he heard about it second hand.

“An egg deck? Shouldn’t you be more concerned about sending babies into battle? At least wait until they are children,” Mei said since the rule set she once glanced at in a trash can while visiting the tax break they called an orphanage had no such thing listed. Where were the A, B, and C attack types? Her opponents must have been really weak for her to make it so far into the tourney with such generic cards. Shame Tentomon would learn the horrors of war at such a young age if Kimi so callously had a copy of her to sacrifice in her deck.

Kimi successfully attacked Mei’s security deck revealing the Arii card she made. She was fine with this. Since she had no Digimon on her side their special effect of deleting one of them wouldn’t take place since when Arii died, she was sure they would be taking someone else with them. Maybe someday that person could be an enemy but today and most likely tomorrow was not that day.

“I play Ace with Cutemon and since an ally was deleted this turn from my security their special effect lets me play another card so I will place down Ji-Su whose special effect will ensure my security cards will be 401-OK so only one can be destroyed next turn. Ohohoho!”

Mei didn’t really care what Kimi had planned since it was clear the end result Mei was aiming for wouldn’t change. Maybe she would put a card face up in defense mode as a treat.

Kimi ignored the trash talking and the banter of her opponent. With the attack successful, Bushi-Agumon still in play, Kimi played on. "I digivolve Bushi-Agumon to Darcmon"

BT1-053.jpg

Placing the champion on top of her rookie, play shifted to Mei who now had two energy and used it to play Ace and Cutemon, for... She leant over slightly, unwilling to ask Mei herself for it's cost... 3 Energy. She thought, the cards scribbled cost hard to judge. With the altruistic ace, bringing on Ji-Su with his on play effect, the game moved back to Kimi. Unsuspending Darcmon, Kimi move to the breeding phase "I hatch an egg in my breeding zone."

She flipped the top card of her egg deck and placed it down.
BT5-003.jpg

Kimi had her champion attack. "Darcmon attack's your Security Deck"

BT14-031.jpg

From there she played another card from her hand "I play Elecmon from my hand for 3 Memory into the Battle Zone and with Darcmon suspended from attacking, I am allowed to draw one card"

Kimi drew her card and placed it in her hand, as play shifted to Mei.

Though the recording Ji-Su got working was short and garbled for much of it, what came through was just a horrendous tale of the missing party and their final moments. It was devastating and brutal, but for most of it Róisín was able to take it all in as objectively as possible. They would need to get back and inform Gabriel about what happened, to better prepare them for any other excursions they plan in the future.

"Tell me child, do you know your sin?"

Those were the immediate thoughts running through her mind just before the second voice appeared, freezing her cold to the spot and stopping all action.

"Róisín?"

Lopmon looked down towards Roisin's face, her long ears still grasping hold of the puzzle as she felt the rigidness suddenly come about for her partner. It was just like at the cave, the heightened feelings of something she had kept buried down rose again and again as that single line repeated itself in her mind.

She did. She did know her sin.

"Róisín, it's okay." Lopmon tried her best to get her partner's attention, patting the side of her face with one of her little paws until the focus returned to Roisin's eyes and she started to move again.

"Um...yeah...yeah I'm good..." She half mumbled to Lopmon, but more trying to convince herself, as she started to take stock again of her surroundings and finding Eliam close to her, Salamon in tow, and both eying up the puzzle Lopmon held.

"...here...take a look if you want..." She was still not 100% there, but she was good enough that Lopmon felt comfortable to drop the puzzle into Roisin's open hand before offering the coloured dialed device to Eliam.

Stretching her ears after holding the puzzle for so long, Lopmon felt a small twinge, causing her to look from side to side as she still rested up on her partner's head, as if searching for something.

"Can...can anybody else hear that...?" She asked out loud, still turning to try and glimpse...something?...anything?...whatever was causing her ears to twinge kept happening, non-stop, until a heavy drumming beat accompanied the constant assault to wrack the small bunny's body, finally forcing her to try and clamp her little paws over her ears to block out the sound.

"Make it stop! Make it stop!"

Her shouting came about so quickly that it caused Róisín to reach up and grasp ahold of the digimon, holding the trembling thing to her chest as she shock her head and pressed her paws harder. She was in pain, maybe not ear bleeding, but it was definitely hurtful to the sound sensitive Lopmon. That fear, self loathing she had, it all fell to the wayside as soon as Róisín could hold and watch the trembling little thing in her arms. And what replaced it, was anger and drive to keep everyone safe.

"Right that's it, everyone's leaving. Now!"

No retort was a dangerous position for Kimi to be in since the on lookers might not remember the play by play as much as what was said. While Kimi focused on the educational aspects of calling out her cards and actions Mei focused on keeping some things a mystery. People tended to enjoy filling in the blanks themselves rather than a fully fleshed out story. The little gaps would help snowball the match rumors which she could than manipulate later if they got off course.

I mean the town leader was Gabriel so it wouldn’t be hard to use his leadership personality against him with how many Digimon came and went from the fort. A single mistake could cost him everything so it might be good to stack security deck so to speak for when it happened.

“Ohoho,” Mei obnoxioused revealing the card from her security deck,” It looks like your overly aggressive plays have come back to bite you.”

The card revealed was Kimi’s Tentomon.

“Looks like we have no further use for this,” Mei said ripping the card in half while making eye contact with the little cutie. Since she didn’t need it as part of her deck Mei could give the drawing to Tentomon to cheer her up sometime later on and use the information part of the card as scratch paper.

“Thanks to Kimi’s Tentomon’s sacrifice I can play another card from my hand so I chose Leo who’s prank effect lets me discard him to play a Digimon containing his name so I play Leomon,” Mei said placing down the Hacha~ Digimon but her turn wasn’t over yet, “Then I equip shirt to him to protect him from the male gaze."

She then continued to just boldly cheat by playing Róisín in defense mode without announcing it so that Ace would have someone to hang out with. Mei took the opportunity to equip Lopmon to Róisín just because.

“Enjoy this memory,” Mei said pausing for dramatics as she double checked her card counting and calculating the odds to ensure she was still on track to lose with how much memory Kimi would have to use,” Bad memory ohoho.”

Despite being a superhero, Tentomon grimaced as Mei made eye contact, the destruction of her card copy done so callously and for no real reason. Though she faltered for a moment, Tentoman remained stalwart, knowing 'Cool Girl' would save the day. Her partner didn't bat an eyelid at Mei's malicious move, the light reflecting off one side of her googles to reveal Kimi's stony and focused gaze.

As Mei played an... obscure... Option card which protected Leomon from the... Main Phase was it, the card hardly legible. Obviously well used with such a powerful effect as nearly everything of note was done on the Main Phase. The card was a whopping eight energy so play went back to Kimi but not before Mei cheated and stuck in another move. Tentoman gasped at such an unjust infraction but Kimi let it slide. Though it was wrong, it wasn't right to call Mei out either. Her partner had spotted the foul and that was enough, the rest could be settled after the match. With her illegally played Tamer Roisin costing four, and allowing her to play Lopmon into her digivolution stack, Kimi took the four extra energy putting her on eleven.

She drew her card, swiping her arm as if she was wielding a sword. She turned the card between her fingers, glanced at it and put it in her hand. "I unsuspend Darcmon, and move Pickmon to the battle area. I now will have Darcmon attack your security deck again."

Tentoman raised a claw to her chin, her antennas twitching. This could be a risky move as Darcmon was very important for Kimi's strategy. Her champion needed to be suspended for its effect but in doing so would be open to attack by Leomon afterwards.

Once the attack was complete, Kimi selected a card from her hand. "I digivolve Pickmon into Patamon,"

BT14-033.jpg

"and thanks to his effect. I am allowed to search my security deck for a vaccine type who I can digivolve into."

Kimi took the cards and searched through, finding one. "Patamon digivolves into Piddomon."

BT4-042.jpg

"I am also allowed to draw a card thanks to Darcmons effect" she stated shuffling her security deck. Kimi drew another card and immediately played it. "I play Physical Training"

P-105.jpg

Drawing two more cards Kimi revealed them both to Mei.

EX3-029.jpg
EX7-028.jpg

The 'Cool Girl' took Piximon into her hand and put Airdramon to the bottom of her deck. A simple decision as the card she was looking for was not in her security deck. Placing her option card into the battle area per it's effect, she played another card. "I digivolve Elecmon into BlackGatomon from my hand..."

BT8-077.jpg

"...and with her Rush effect attack your security deck again. Inheriting Elecmon's effect I choose Leomon to lose two thousand digipoints."

Kimi paused for a moment, thinking. Holding a card from her hand, she played the Piximon she had chosen earlier exceeding her memory, giving her opponent two and moving play back to Mei.

Twist Twist

Wow Kimi sure was looking at her cards a lot and it couldn’t just be because of her magnificent art. Maybe her hand writing but that was just avant-garde which was just a fancy word for bad.

“Ohohoho accusing me of cheating lukewarm Kimi?” Mei said accidentally showing Kimi her entire hand of cards when she brought her real hand up to pose haughtily,” I didn’t think of you as someone who put winning above having fun ohoho. How can you draw on the heart of the cards when your heart isn’t in this? There is only one card in your deck that could defeat me and the odds are as low as everyone’s hope should be OHOHOHO.”

Mei did not care for any risk or strategy from Kimi since she wasn’t even bothering to attack the other girl. It would be much more impressive for the rumors and give the people who learned the game under Kimi a sense of satisfaction or encouragement when they could score a hit on Kimi’s security. Compared to the other girls seemingly tense energy Mei was as nonchalant as she was insufferable but that was just her natural state and right now, she was very very nonchalant. Well, maybe she should have worked in more Mei puns so random people wouldn't get confused for Kimi's opponent in the match.

Both Raven and Ruth revealed from her security deck wouldn’t change the game state as all other than getting discarded so Mei didn’t bother to call anything out about them.

“Since two tamers went to my discard, I can play Saladmon and Eliam to shuffle half of my discard back into my deck. Then Tanuki,” Mei said placing down Tanuki. Given the number of cards in her discard Mei didn’t really worry about lacking the guts to play Tanuki’s dodge card ‘gun found along the way’ if they were attacked. Plus, now she wouldn’t deck out since her deck didn’t really have many cards in it.

If Kimi didn’t close out the match next round Mei would have to get more serious about losing. While thing so far may have shown how cool Kimi was under pressure she really wasn't selling the game as something fun to play like you would think Mei was going to send everyone to the dark?...shadow? Shadow ocean if she won. It was a real place in the digital world! So it was day trip really so Kimi should let her natural charming self do some crowd work after the match.

Raven kept her cool for a moment while everyone started to speak up, tensions were now high, and as much as she wanted to find Sora's digivice it was clear she was outnumbered on that thought. She felt guilty for it, but at the same time as things moved it was clear dangers were potentially still present. However, something felt off... that strange sound from earlier started to pick up again. This time Raven realized it was extremely close, and much more noticeable as the wind blew through the area a strange whipping-like sound.

She turned to the boulder she was currently leaning against, squinting at the debris, and brush in her way that was atop it. Though in pause her attention was pulled to Arii surprisingly agreeing with her... well damn there truly was a first time for everything at this moment. There was more that the little hunter wanted to say, but they kept it to themselves. Raven wasn't in the right mind to figure it out at the moment, however, in the part of the recording where the monster had asked its question she had watched a notable sign of reaction from Arii... something very different than before from the ball of paranoia.

Raven thought about reaching a hand out to check if Arii was okay but remembered how the young adult reacted to interaction thus far making her hold on such action. Arii started to move again as Raven's thoughts went elsewhere as Eliam passed her by walking to Roisin, and observing the puzzle cylinder. Ji-Su herself made it evident that her thoughts were to move out as well, and as she put it the puzzle could wait.

Raven found her head hurting over it all so many issues at once. What became of the scouts, the thing that did them in, and the puzzle box? They came to solve one problem and ended up with many more. However, Ji-Su then added some understanding to finding Sora's digivice, even if it was because of the military woman's curiosity for the cliff, and the potential answers Sora's digivice could offer Raven was thankful for it she was about to take off, but once again a gust of wind passes them all.

"Wait," Raven mumbled to herself that sound. It was of something rustling, she turned to the boulder again and proceeded to nudge Wormmon's assistance. With a few web sprays, the foliage was moved out of the way from the boulder as Wormmon spoke up turning to Ji-Su out in the distance as she, and Raven were still at the edge of the clearings diameter.

"If I was to guess I think that guy was knocked off the cliff, and landed here... maybe," it was a valid guess from the end of the video it had seemed like the sudden pick up of sound could have been from falling from such height. It made sense, and as Impmon spoke up still near the middle of the site Raven responded as she finally revealed what she was hearing

"I... was wrong... Roisins right... we all need to leave, right now," At that sudden twist of change in Raven's goals everyone would no doubt turn to her to see atop the boulder now revealed to all... a stick-made cross to mark the grave where the human had probably truly hit the ground upon instant death. Yet what made it clear what had zapped Raven's bravery to push a bit more on the situation was the clothe wrapped around the cross... the very same as the tendrils of clothe that had snatched them into the digital world lifeless, but flowing with the wind. In a way eerily similar to when they had all been snatched by though before such could be acted on Lopmon's panic escalated into a full-on scream pulling Raven away from her wide-eyed horror.

"What are you talking about I don't hear... ARII WATCH OUT," Raven turned to Lopmon, but instead, her eyes immediately locked onto Arii out in the distance. Right as Arii kicked up the mound of dirt with their hands covered in that slime, out of the blue almost as if like an illusion a rather well-oversized purple mushroom now appeared covered in the dirt Arii had kicked up.

"THAT'S NOT A REGULAR MUSHROOM," Wormmon called out her insect instincts noticing the details of the strange yellow rings atop it.

Yet as the mushroom stood up and looked up with an evil smirk, and a strange miniature Mushroom in its hands marked with the symbol for chemical hazards it became clear... they had grabbed the attention of something beyond their worst nightmares as a mass of purple flames erupted above the cliffs above spewing down into two venomous sets of flames one on each side of the party expanding out into a massive cage match like shape.

"Hehe, you lot will be perfect to show our commitment to the "Nine Threads Of The Veil". We appreciate you accepting your roles to be punished with such open arms," the mushroom dangerously laughed in Arii's face as it arced its arm back as the party's Digivices went off.

Firamon: Digivice Link

"Hakai no Kinoko Bakudan," With that the Mushmon threw the miniature mushroom right into Arii's arms triggering an explosion and sending Arii flying off into the distance landing near Ji-Su as it scowled. "I told you lazy lot burying it would make the runoff lackluster," The Mushmon seethed as Arii had been surprisingly well protected by the blast the Slime covering their arms had taken a majority of the explosion dripping off the fortunate individual's limbs leaving them with only bruising from the flight landing. "Intiate The DIVIDER TACTIC," it shouted out as three more Mushmon dropped out of the trees around the clearing each holding onto a strong rope hidden amongst three rather hefty trees.

With their weight and a preset pulley system, the ropes revealed themselves as they were hoisted out of the ground as they whipped off the tree leading to the center causing a rather big barrel to pop out of the ground between Ji-Su, Commandramon, Arii, And Impmon who were currently away from the cliff side, and Roisin, Eliam, Lopmon, and Salamon who were near the cliffside. Raven nowhere near the center was about to reach for Wormmon to do anything to halt what was about to happen, but something that popped into her head... didn't their digivices just say there was something called Firamon around?

"FLAME DIVE," right off the cliff as if on cue a rather big lion covered in flames jumped hurdling down towards them, converging with red flames as it dived right into the slime barrel. The explosion uprooted the very ground the majority of the party stood on sending Arii, Ji-Su, Impmon, and Commandramon flying backward atop a dirt mound off towards the end of the cage. Likewise, Roisin, Eliam, Lopmon, and Salamon were sent flying upwards on a dirt mound up towards the cliff as everyone's sight was temporarily blinded by the flash of the explosion.

As the mound of dirt hit the ground Arii, Ji-Su, Impmon, and Commandramon felt it skid heavily against the ground as it was on a one-way ticket to crash into the amassing purple flames. Yet something seemed rather against their death being so simply as three voices chimed together.

"Triade Style: Poison S-Mush," from the grasslands around them a series of miniature mushroom bombs were thrown at the dirt mass causing it to implode sending its travels all over the area and halting them from running into the arise purple flames threatening to consume them. As four Mushmon chased after them two went straight in for a charge at both Commandramon and Arii.

"Rough S-Much," they both chimed as their fists charged up with energy aiming to harm both the human and Digimon. In turn, the other two halted one a bit bigger than the rest, and the exact one that had aimed to harm Arii at the beginning.

"Show them the will of the Veil brothers."

Worst off was off in the distance the Firamon had followed yet halted a good distance away. It sat as it watched almost as if entertained by what was happening in front of it. However, for Ji-Su an experienced military person, it would more seem like something a combatively in charge personnel would do when testing the recruits. As if this fight was now a testing ground for them instead of a planned trap, yet unfortunately for the other half of the party the situation was nothing of a similar scenario...

Scout Party B
Anorgos Anorgos (Roisin/Lopmon), Matreania Matreania (Eliam/Salamon)

The dirt mound that carried Roisin, Eliam, Lopmon, and Salamon would not have as much of an epic journey as it simply went up before crashing down right at the edge of the cliff. As Inertia and sudden impact would no doubt ravage them a bit though thankfully not too much due to their transportation being nothing more than dirt... the real danger would be the overwhelming sense of death that would overload all of their senses as a rather lazy voice spoke to them disturbingly casually.

"You weren't the ones I was expecting, but a surprise is always interesting nonetheless. Tell me new children selected by the one we revere... do you know your sins," it was without a doubt the same voice as the one on the digivice recording. Their digivices would blare an unusual warning as information started to file onto the screen, but they wouldn't need to look at them to see what the threat looked like.

For not too far from them slumped lethargically over a massive boulder, emitting off its paws stood the source of the purple demonic flames looking at them with an amused, yet unimpressed smile set with statued ruby-like empty eyes. A figure looking like it came out of the Book of the Dead from Egyptian lore an all-powerful sphinx-like figure. And that wasn't all at present as an equally intense, and dark-looking black knight tall as a one-story house stood next to it guarding it and looking down upon the insects that had emerged from the trinkets of that past.

It bore a skull on its chest and a double-ended lance that looked like it could end them no matter what direction they ran in one thrust. Atop that was a more intimidating colossal blade on its left shoulder. Its dark cap flowed eerily as if alive as its prominence demanded its word to be followed to the letter unless one wanted its full wraith.

"Answer the question," the Knight demanded with authority taking a step forward causing the very ground to shake making it clear the whole time they had been bellow these Digimon had been watching them, waiting for something it seemed that never came.

"The wall never moved, how annoying, our time is limited though so why not have some fun? You woman tell me what is it you see? I can sense it on your soul... your sins crawl up your very being," Ancient Sphinxmon spoke with a curious nature disturbingly tilting its head to the left as a trickle of dark purple flames erupted around Roisin as an all to familiar voice spoke in her mind.

"Why"

From the flames, lithe-like arms would be rushed up grabbing all around Roisin's legs and waist. As the same feminine voice pleaded to know why as amongst the hands numerous faces of the same girl appeared crying with an almost pleading look. Unknowingly this was all just in Roisin's view as Eliam wouldn't be able to see any of these things happening to her. Before they could act to help something started to shoot around the trees on the cliff. It was fast and as it darted nonstop back in forth in a line as three shurikens stabbed into the ground around Eliam.

"Hm there is not much of a scent of sin on you, but I smell resentment," the black lion-like Digimon spoke turning its attention to Eliam though it wasn't as interested in the boy as much as the woman present it seemed willing to share its attention. Yet as Eliam's digivice rang out in reaction a bit of a knee-jerk reaction soured the sphinx mood.

1727901554663.png
Kougamon: Digivice Link

The blur halted its movement with an angered face at being revealed. It gripped its sword as if ready to rush Eliam at the hindrance of its built-up imposing presence ruined by Eliams Digivice.

"Those things are so annoyingly observant sours the fun of fear when you know whats out there. Yours seems to have a bit more range than most," Ancient Sphinxmon scowled as it sat upright like a marionette disturbingly with each part of its body moving like an unwound machine. Its mouth never moved as it spoke, but its emotions were always known some how terminating off its purple flames. Yet it continued to watch Roisin as if to feed off her reactions as its subordinates watched as well ready to attack Eliam if he interfered.

"Shall I break it like the last one," Dark Knightmon suggested.

"No the last two got off too easy we were hasty in making sure their punishments lasted as long as their crimes. We must make sure to follow proper enactment as we are taught to put upon the humans," Ancient Sphinxmon mulled.

"Don't be so modest trust me when I say those with medical experience are extremely rare here, and highly valuable with that said... don't be throwing that knowledge out everywhere there are some bad people who might snatch you for it," Dr. Tanaka waved her hand at Ruth before giving her some words of caution to her knowledge. The girl's tears though hilariously made the doctor feel awkward this time.

Dr. Tanaka watched the duo as they leaned on each other for support... rather rare for newcomers to be so friendly. Were they friends before this perhaps? No that was even a rarer scenario, unknowing of the luck between the two being napped the Doctor was about to sit back at her chair when a blitz ball of energy Terriermon came by shrapnel bamming the hut with flyers. As the doctor watched the mess made in front of her office she looked at her partner as if demanding why they had allowed that to happen to which the mollusk digimon just looked at her back in confusion as to what they could have done to stop that.

"Hey Nana theirs something weird going off in the distance," Syakomon spoke up bobbing left, and right as the Doctor turned to see what her Digimon was on about. Just as she had pointed out a bit off in the distance from where Ace, Cutemon, and Ruth had come from was a strange trio of robe-garbed Digimon rookies sized at best guests fighting to handle a rather strange-looking device pipe as they went back, forth, and sideways with them having a hard time holding it still.

"What the hell is there some sort of event I am not aware of going on?"

"How would I know I lazily sit here with you all day old Nana."

"I will strangle you mollusk." The Doctor growled as hilariously the mollusk growled back. As this was going on the trio finally got ahold of the device and started to prop it up before it ironically slid backwards falling on top of said Digimon in a small panic the other two quickly lifted it off the third member and got it stabilized as a few younger folks laughed thinking it was some sort of... BAM

Without warning a wooden hammer barely missed the laughing youths as it flew straight into one of the cot's roofs putting an unexpectedly big hole through it. This violent outburst caught everyone's attention as the three Digimon threw off their robes causing Ace's digivice to react to all three of them.

Shamamon: Digivice Link

The three goblin-like Digimon sneered at the humans that laughed at them as the wooden club thrown came boomeranging back landing into what seemed to be the leader of the pack. As he snarled irked that he had missed the humans he hit the device behind him with his club causing it to react and extend upwards into a mashed-together mess of a satellite-like device.

"You disgusting lot my big bros about to make an example out of all of you," the Shamamon sneered as the device veered loudly before it sent out an ear-piercing screech across the whole fort as a mass of data started to rain down into the satellite as something started to appear in front of it growing in size as Ace's digivice was again triggered by the growing entity being summoned by the satellite download.

"PUNY HUMANS YOU HAVE BEEN FOOLISHLY, AND BLASPHEMOUSLY IGNORING THE GODDESS'S GRACE TO ATONE FOR YOUR SINS. HEED THESE WORDS NOW. YOUR LIFE HERE IS TO BE ONE OF MISERY NOT COHESION, AND PEACE. YOU WILL PAY FOR FINDING HAPPINESS IN YOUR TIME OF TRIALS," the massive entity bellowed out to those around though at this time for Ruth, and Ace in particular something more ominous would be noted. Tied around the wrists of the trio of Shamamon, and Cyclomon's horn was the same fabric of the tendrils that had pulled them into the digital world.

"HYPER HEAT," Leaning backward with its mouth wide open Cyclomon released a powerful beam of energy as it flung forward blasting through numerous houses and causing many residents humans, and Digimons to get thrown in every direction in its chaos.

"MY BROTHERS SPREAD THE GOSPEL TRUTH," Cyclomon bellowed as the Shamamon trio released their battle cries the one who had spoken earlier noticed Ruth and with a revved-up a batter swing summoned a fireball throwing it up into the air the Shamamon swung his club at it.

"Shama Strike," the fireball was hit sending it flying straight for Ruth as the other two Shamamon charged into the crowd looking to attack anything close. Following the attacks a massive horn was blown as a powerful aura caught Cyclomons attention the Forts to Arms horn call made everyone aware they were under attack.

"BROTHERS BE CAREFUL THE WALL IS STILL HERE," Cyclomon bellowed his warning three vines shot straight for his face nearly impacting as they were blocked by a new entities massive green wings everyone present in the residential area found themselves consumed by a massive shadow of a green gigantic dragon. This time Aces and everyone present digivice triggered with an alarm warning with the words "Run" clearly visible on its screen.

1727907981929.png
Groundramon: Digivice Link

Off in the distance, the vines had extended all the way impressively from the south gate where Palamon could be seen with intense focus though they would have no idea what Gabriel was telling her. Her vine would quickly wrap around Groundramons wing hand before with an unexpected sight for those preset would watch Groundramon pulled up into the air and insanely thrown right out of the fort as Palamon, and Gabriel jumped over the fence after the ultimate digimon. A bit further out standing on the south gate a whisp of something fast moved about watching the scene fixated on Ruth in particular as it felt something... familiar.

"Huh, I see makes sense I mean even hear WarGreymon is a legend amongst us free-roaming Digimon. Makes sense you humans elders would covet its existence to guide your young," Gazimn mulled nodding his head in somewhat understanding of what Kimi was saying even if not getting the human aspect of it completely. Though he was confused about how a card made someone Gryzmon better understood its worth.

"A good heirloom for someone who sounds like a strong pillar with who you became," he chimed in acknowledging the entity known as Kimi's grandma being a wise, and important person revealing he also sorta halfway understood though more on track than Gazimon. It's as Kimi thought explaining a grandparent wasn't so easy for Digimon who didn't get the concept.

"So this Parfait thing is modifiable I see," Grzymon nodded curious about what one must taste like now as Gazimon was pulled back in adorably into Tentomons instructions of strategy. Gryzmon was impressed with Tentomons ability to reel Gazimon in usually he would be furious upon defeat but the insect seemed to know how to approach in a way that came off as more friendly a approach such a passionate spirit this bug had, and its tamer. though as Gazimon accidentally knocked over Tentomon on her back like a struggling turtle he panicked and immediately got behind her to set her upright having some issues as he kept getting pricked by her spikey back until he figured out where was safe to grab to get her upright.

"I DIDN'T MEAN TO DO THAT," Gazimon spotted out dusting off Tentomon with his tail as the bear turned back to the match about to begin. He was surprised as the younger human girl seemed a bit embarrassed by the chanting as the older one took a very villainous approach to the spectacle she had created. What followed was a rather adorable display of a theatric heroine on Kimi's part...

"Bancho Bear?" Gryzamon chuckled at the new nickname that he had been bestowed seemed he and his protege were to be pulled into this spectacle. The irony of such a well-impactful title was not lost on him given to reasons. Well, who was he to not aid it especially as Kimi gave a hesitant shy like look to him. Grabbing his robe he quickly makeshift it into a cap as he took the manly Bancho sitting position and raised his hand for the match to start.

As the crowd cheered at the card game battle enjoying the tension built by Kimi, and Mei the gray fluff ball Gazimon couldn't help to wonder why this game was getting so intense. Mei in particular was speaking out loud of venom that at first seemed to strike a little too far into the veins. However, the crowd was quick to not have any of what Mei was trying to a-MEI-nd in the situation.

"Don't listen to her she is just sour 'cause she's old'. That chick is clearly evil and way too wordy," Gazimon shouted out causing Grzymon to choke on the pineapple slice he was eating. This alone made it clear Gazimon had no problem with the nickname given to him by Kimi... thought it was weird, that he found some sort of compliment within it to be included in such a tense match of a situation over a children's card game. The crowd followed cheering Kimi on more excitedly as the antagonist fueled the airs for the protagonist of the game. For a protagonist was only as good as their Antagonist and Mei had in turn overstepped in her goal fueling things in the opposite expected direction.

Grzymon again chuckled having read the room a bit better, he could tell Mei was trying to be somewhat a guiding figure, but how she was going about it didn't match well when the situation was read as a theater act by the crowd. It seemed Mei took things too strategically and logically versus Kimi taking things too playfully and earnestly.

"Hehehe a collision of different wills how exciting. Though I don't think she will bend in her path as you expect," Grzymon spoke with a toothy grin at Mei he could tell she was planning to lose to teach a lesson, but the lesson had evolved to be directed at both of them now it seemed. Unfortunately, while everyone else understood this was an act one lone insect did not Gazimon watched a bit confused as Tentomon seemed to get powered up by the game, and just as Gryzmon had expected Kimi didn't buckle in the direction Mei expected, but instead went all in a more middle ground direction taking to a more serious hero role, but with playful fire in her eyes... this was indeed an odd sight for those who could see what was going on.

For the rest of the match, the game went wild as Kimi showed her true gamer face throwing down like a hero in the second act of the big fight. There was an irony to that as Gryzmon wondered if Mei understood it was Kimi's playful start that helped fuel this serious trigger atop Mei's clever insults. Though Grzymon also wondered if Mei understood she in turn was taking this way to seriously in a strange seeming nature to recruit Kimi over to her way of thinking. These two were opposites in numerous ways that only fueled the tension that much more.

It was indeed a good display from both parties Kimis relentless strategy versus Mei's clever ploys. If these two were to fight Gryzmon imagined it would be quite the display worthy of a royal knight audience as they grew stronger. These were the type of skyfallers that lived long enough to shed that title. Mei was right about one part though as Kimi's lack of retort confused the onlookers for a moment until they noticed it started to feel like she was building up to something grabbing their attention more to see the payoff strategy. Mei also kept their attention as she made mysterious moves making them wonder if their Heroine would survive the onslaught surreally to come.

Though as the Tentomon's card was ripped apart Mei quickly earned the ire of a certain furball.

"HEY, JUDGE GIVE HER A FOUL SHE'S DISRESPECTING THE COOL CHICK... I MEAN THE CARD GAME," Gazimon shouted out to Gryzmon as he proceeded to point to Tentomon, and then the ripped card of Tentomon's repeatedly. The crowd also had a negative reaction shouting at Mei for the hazing nature of said move.

"Do remember her job is to be the villain. If she is getting people rattled, and earning their ire she is simply doing her job well," Gryzmon explained with a nod to the importance of Mei's role though he did agree that was a tad far, but that would be Mei's problem later on potentially. Yet as Mei exerted her dominance upon the masses someone else was triggered someone who was fed up having watched the woman throughout the day.

"The Audacity of your vile tongue. You are the pinnacle of the reason the veils will exists... you deceitful harlot... you collective of humanity's sins of pride acting like some false leader of true punishment when you yourself have so much to scream for... very soon. Now ACCEPT DIVINE PUNISHMENT," atop one of the food carts stands a rather overacting short stack ball of a robed individual that kept jumping up, and down in rage as it threw off its robe causing everyone's digivices to react.

Gladimon: Digivice Link

As it pulled out both of its blades like a preacher at full mast it seemed... awkwardly like it had expected something to follow its words. Yet... nothing followed until a massive wave of data broke through the sky towards a now full arisen satellite out in the distance followed by the download of two big entities seen forming out near it. Waves of power filtered out, and fights broke out amongst many a scream. It didn't take long for anyone to realize... this wasn't part of the act. Gryzmon stood up promptly as Gazimons ears perked up at the sound of a massive horned sounded of warnign everyone they were indeed officially under attack. Out in the same distance, the massive green entity would be seen thrown out of the fort as something gave chase.

Kotemon: Digivice Link

Numerous robes started to fill the air in the immediate area as a full unit of Kotemon revealed themselves pulling out their weapons as they proceeded to attack the residents. Something quickly notable was on every member's weapon a strand of the same tendriled cloth that had pulled them into the digital world was tied to the hilts. Chaos quickly erupted as another download wave came down summoning another semi-green giant not too far from Kimi, and Mei's match quickly towering over them as it let out a Jurassic roar.

Tuskomon: Digivice Link

"WHEEL RUSH," Gladimon jumped off the cart stand spinning like a saw blade straight for the source of its ire, Mei with every intention to cut her to ribbons. In tandem, Tuskmon roared again charging towards the crowd as Grzymon counter charged ramming into it as the two quickly entered into a struggle match.

"RUN," Gryzmon called out to the crowd as it continued to struggle with the bigger entity. As this proceeded Gazimon flung himself to the right of Tentomon blocking a wooden sword swing with both his pauses.

"Get to your partner," Gazimon growled as another Kotemon jumped into the air towards Kimi.

"Ryusei-Giri," the Kotemon started to rapid-fire swing its wooden blade downwards towards Kimi's body aiming to neutralize and harm her as quickly, and extremely as possible. Things got out of control way beyond what anyone could expect as the madness of this rushed attack aimed to harm any it could for no reason but the mad ramblings of those who had been planning this for quite some time.

The actions that were to follow would throw the Korean Army officer off her feet and on to her back, but even then, her scientific mind analyzed the situation quickly as she recalled how this all worked, how her own digivice showed the limited commands that were open to Commandramon. There was also the fact, when it all came down to it, and the stakes were indeed higher, but none the less, it was a game. The game. They could indeed die here, but what that death meant or what a transformation into the digital being meant and what it led to, well, that was simply unavailable data.

However, what was clear was these four were part of a stable team, and a bit too cocky for a woman that spent her downtime playing video games often. When you simply dismissed the worst-case happenings to yourself, then reacting to these situations was all too easy. It was time to abuse the ego's purpose and unity of these thugs all too used to killing those who could not react. They were testing them, playing with their food and having some connection to that cloth. And they would be punished for it.

Quickly getting to her feet and taking her digivice in hand she barks quick and precise orders to Commandramon, while he didn't need them per see, it was good to see Ji-Su still had her head in the game, something that would have made the cyborg laugh had he the capacity for it. It was nice to have a dependable partner, if not for the lack of questions, yet certainty that Commandramon had in purpose.

Ji-Su quickly swept her right arm forward and gave commands;

"Commandramon! DCD Bomb! Throw it at and between the charging Lunatics!" With that explosive surprise flying out to meet the airborne duo she snidely speaks aloud, "Vile brothers more like! Watch them! I would bet the goo came from them and that the ass watching the show sets on fire!"

"Affirmative! Bomb out! Keep behind me!" Said Commandramon as his bomb was thrown straight and true before being detonated remotely it seemed by the positioning of the bomb between the pair and between themselves as his own tactical armor acted as a buffer between the group and any potential explosive fragments.

With that and the following explosion, Ji-Su was not content to react defensively as she purposefully sent out her next command to give these mushrooms a taster of their own medicine. "Commandramon M16 Assassin! Aim for the third in the back to the left! Dodge after and keep moving, we'll be behind you!" With that said Ji-Su was quick to yank Arii up by the arm and moved to keep herself in cover and with Commandramon between her and them. Then there was the leaderless Impmon, and Arii who was all but useless as the machinegun fire rank out.

"On target! Impmon, Support! Take on the frontline melee!" It was unusual for a Digimon to order another one around, but in this case, there was little else they can do unless Arii wanted to attempt the command Impmon as the Dinosaur like Digimon started moving in what limited area they had.

"GET ON YOUR FEET AND BE USEFUL SCOUT!" For now, the important thing was to keep moving what bits they could and frustrate the ability for those four to pin them down like wild game animals being ran down by dogs.

Kicking the mound of dirt notably did not make them feel better. They doubted anything would make them feel better, really, which would have been irritating were it not for the authority-me-me-me-act-RUN from halfway across the clearing, and, quite suddenly, they were five again, their sister's voice screaming in their ear as a paintball whizzed past their unprotected face fast enough for its wake to cut. They were five again, and adrenaline ran through their veins, and when they turned, just like when they were five, the threat appeared behind them as if by magic.

They were not five, anymore.

Instead of running and showing their back to what their mind screamed at them was bruising, and pain, and hurt, they whipped around like a striking cobra, teeth bared, hand reaching for their knife. Before them, a vibrantly purple target that laughed as they lunged for it.

They took the explosion point-blank.

Their ears rang, balance and gravity forgotten. Nausea pooled in their throat as their inner ear spun, the sudden change in pressure leaving them sightless—soundless—floating. Without any way to orient themself, they hit the ground back-first, breath wheezing from their lungs as their head cracked against the ground, with white-flashes the first thing they'd seen in the darkness they knew would pass as soon as blood made it back to their eyes.

They'd barely managed to roll over when tremors against their skin like shockwaves danced past them, and for a moment, coughing and shaking, braced against the rocky ground, they were really happy they couldn't hear, memories of the first time they'd fired an AK without protection just barely coherent under the persistent dizziness. Concussion.

Some force or another—a hand, they figured as the featherlight hum of speech prickled their skin—yanked them up by the arm, and they promptly ejected everything in their stomach in what would have been an impressive projectile had they not coughed at the same time and sent bile directly up their nose. Well, they thought to themself, thoroughly done with the day, the week, hell the whole damn year, if they died, maybe no one would mourn them.

Though they kind of wished whositsface would stop yelling in their ear.

They blinked once.

Twice.

Huh. Their arms were still intact. Somewhat detached from whatever pain—other than their own massive, stupid, ibuprofen-less, pounding headache—they may or may not be feeling, Arii stared at their arms, belatedly realizing they could see now. Really, they were impressively intact, all things considered, ignoring the blunt-force-trauma that most definitely killed whatever braincells had been holding onto the exam study guide.

They blinked again.

Looked up.

Their mind felt like molasses, and sure they'd taken their fair share of falls—from a treestand, from a tree, from a little mini cliff that was a bit too slick after rainfall, all those good things. They couldn't say they'd been blown up before, though. Wasn't like they'd have a scar to prove it, anyway. Their skin wasn't even red.

The pieces fell together just as they regained some semblance of balance. Just enough to root themself on their own heels and stop being dragged by whatsisface.

There was no way. It burned, right? But, then, so did rubbing alcohol. They tangled their fingers into their own hair, poking at the sore, vaguely-wet-feeling, probably-bleeding spot on their head. And, then, they worked with a giant firecat thing. They blinked again. The ringing in their ears had faded to a dull hum.

"Fire," they hissed, a surprised, crackling noise as their abused throat strained. "Impmon, they're resistant to fire." Their I think went unsaid, but they liked their chances. With their vision twitching and spinning with their nonexistent awareness of gravity as a whole, they let whosit keep a hold on their arm. Since The pressure was... nauseating, but her hand was on cloth and not skin, so they'd take it. They cast their gaze around.

Weapon... weapon. They needed a weapon. Probably. Something that'd work. Not their knife. Knife didn't work. Couldn't dull the blade.

Their eyes landed on something purple, approximately child-sized, and vaguely mushroom-smelling. Well, mushroom-smelling under the distinct smell of blood which they were reasonably sure was coming from them, but they didn't have anything to do about that, and the purple, child-shaped thing was stalking toward them. Did Lizard miss one? No he was firing at the other ones, they thought. This one was trying to flank.

They stared at it.

It was looking at them. They wondered if it thought they were out enough of it that they didn't see it. Maybe they should tell someone. Hm.

It was pretty close, though.

Close enough, they thought.

All at once, Arii threw their weight forward, uncaring whether or not they were dragging whositsface with them because, they thought, looking at the purple cap of the mushroom child, this thing was distinctly kickable. Their whole lower leg made contact with it, and it squished, like jello in a water balloon. With all hundred-or-so pounds of their weight in that kick—more of a punt, really—it kind of hurt, even through their jeans. With a smooth almost roundhouse-esque movement, they rolled with the momentum and sent all childish weight of the mushroom thing into the nearest tree, where it hit the trunk with a dull, satisfying thunk.

And then whatever grace they may have regained was ruined as they overbalanced onto their hands and dry heaved.

Bushi-Agumon sat at the bar, a pair of bottles by him on the tabletop. Taking refuge in 'Battle' the rookie had turned to his usual vice of drink to soothe his soul. Glancing his way, Citramon walked over upon another bottle's emptying "Another root beer?" he asked.

The rookie gave a grunt and nodded. Stooping, Citramon grabbed another bottle of root beer from behind the counter, popped the botte cap and placed it in front of Bushi-Agumon. "So how was the Fire Zone?"

The Agumon variant grunted, putting the bottle of beer to his mouth. "Hot huh? And the Ice Area?"

Another grunt, accompanied by a growing smile on his face, the bottle raised to the ceiling as the Fruit digimon wiped the countertop with a rag. "Cold you say?"

He noticed a smudge and proceeded to wipe more vigorously as Bushi-Agumon finished the bottle. "And the Sky Islands?"

Another grunt, but lighter in tone this time. "Well, that's good to hear at least." stated Citramon

The champion removed his rag and looked at the stain, less prominent now but still visible. He turned around to find some stain remover in the cupboard. "Eh! Another!" grumbled Bushi-Agumon, his smile gone but his eyelids drooping.

Citramon turned around, crossed his arms and waited but got nothing. No please nor thank you. He exhaled, disapprovingly before stooping for another bottle.

--------------------

Kimi pulled a card from her deck as play shifted back to her. But not for long.

There was a shrill voice in the distance and her Digivice vibrated in her pocket though the 'Cool Girl' treated it more like a text not heeding the warnings. That is until the screams of the crowd, pulled her from her game. Fighting had broke out around them, as Digimon in robes attacked the crowd. Kimi only had time to notice a familiar ribbon like strands on a disrobing Kotemon to mark them as untoward, before a mighty roar boomed nearby and the long shadow of a Tuskmon loomed over them. Charging in her direction, Kimi swept up her cards as delicately as she could, trying to be both quick and gentle but such intentions were simply ill fated.

Tentomon was in a spin, looking in every direction to see everyone in trouble and unsure of who she should help. She could see the blades of Gladimon whirl towards Mei in the corner of her eye, the thunderous crash as Gryzmon and Tuskmon collided and the countless people and Digimon swarmed by robed attackers all around here. The whoosh and wind of a sword cutting the air above her and blowing her antenna gave the rookie pause as beside her Gazimon blocked an attack meant for her. "Get to your partner" he growled, Kotemon's sword held between his paws.

Still picking cards off the floor, Kimi too was about to be assaulted by a Kendo clad Rookie!

"Kimi!"

Tentoman leapt to her partners aid, putting her body between Kimi and Kotemon's sword, the hard wood of the blade clashing with her scarlet shell long enough for Kimi to move to safety, her cards in hand and placed tight to her chest. Slammed to the ground by Kotemon, Tentoman ate dirt causing Kimi to cry out. "Tentomon!"

A crackle of electricity rippled over her shell showed she was okay and a little compound eye winked knowingly at her partner despite the attack. "Du, du, dudah" she chittered, muffled by the soil.

The rookies body began to spin, a cloud of dust splashing out from around here "Rollling Guard!" cried Tentoman, as she spun into the attacking Kotemon.

---------------

"Another!" Bushi-Agumon giggled, with a big goofy smile.

Citramon looked at the growing group of bottles, now numbering five, and the obviously buzzed Bushi-Agumon. There was a brief pause of deliberation before the champion reached for another bottle. Screams and shouts echoed from outside the café, bringing the serenity of the establishment to a halt. Betamon looked over his table, as the two weed Digimon muttered to each other. "What's going on?" asked Citramon, more to himself than anyone.

Leaving the bar, he walked to the door and peeked outside. "Looks like we're under attack" the champion said, matter of factly.

Tiny saurian ears twitched, Bushi-Agumon turning his head slightly. Heading back inside, Citramon grabbed a board from behind the door cavity and shuffled towards the door. Bushi-Agumon too, made moves for the door, swaying from side to side as he went. "I wouldn't go out there if I was you" warned the champion.

The Agumon variant feebly waved off the warning and walked out into the streets, clumsily feeling for his katana.

Terriermon’s playful antics were abruptly interrupted by a commotion coming from outside. Ace went to see what was going on and saw a group of Shamamon causing trouble. One of them hit a strange satellite device and it let out a piercing screech as it burst into life. Ace put his hands over his ears to attempt to block the noise when he noticed a stream of data coalescing above it and begin to form into a terrifying digimon. The shrill sound stopped as the creature fully materialized, the cyclopean digimon voiced its condemnation of the settlement's inhabitants before unleashing a stream of fire that tore through numerous houses.

It took everything he had to focus, his thoughts racing as the situation spiralled into mayhem. His digivice reacted, vibrating in his pocket, but before he could check it, his eyes snapped to Ruth as a fireball barrelled straight toward her. "Ruth!" Ace shouted. Without thinking, he started to move toward her but his injured leg screamed in protest, causing his knee to buckle under the weight and forcing him to grab onto the nearest surface to keep from collapsing. His heart pounded in his chest and his frustration boiled beneath the surface. He wanted to act, to protect her, but his body simply wouldn’t let him.

Thankfully, as the fireball careened perilously closer, Cutemon sprang into action. "Ultrasonic Wave!" Cutemon cried out, sending a wave of sound to intercept the attack. The force of the collision knocked the fiery projective away and, for a moment, Ace let out a shaky breath of relief, but he knew the fight was far from over. His hand gripped the brace on his knee tighter. Despite everything, the pain and uncertainty, he had to keep moving. Ace clumsily made his way over to Ruth with the help of Cutemon.

"Ruth, are you alright!?"

Combat action: Dodging

You know why they say forced audience participation they normally don’t mean the audience forcing themselves into the play. Sensing trouble was in store Mei swiped up the cards within her reach with the speed of someone who never had a lock on their door. There was no need to retort to a fanatic especially one that seemed to also be a white knight like Gryzmon. Did grass not count as grass if it was digital? How could the round stain on the digital species not have touched enough of it on their way to the village.

Gently shaking Black Gabumon awake it was clear that cloaks would end up getting banned as a trauma response if the fort survived and that the situation was dire. The horn sounded off like a starting pistol as Mei broke into a sprint with Black Gabumon by her side thankful that she had been able to warm up her muscles earlier when she failed to catch Impmon alone. Mei didn’t bother looking at her digivice nor take the time to check in on Kimi. Kimi would be fine after all she had her new friends to help her out. Ruth seemed clingy so she probably had Ace with her still so that duo should be fine and the rest were outside the fort. So, the best course of action was to lead the enemy targeting herself to somewhere with less bystanders.

Trusting her senses Mei ran leading Black Gabumon down the path of least resistance for both of them and anyone who would be giving chase. While it would be nice to lose them odds were they would just find someone else to target so the more she kept them busy the more time everyone would have to flee. While the pair’s bodies focused on dodging anything that came their way or bait attacks into hitting an enemy instead Mei considered her options of where to begin their counter attack.

High ground? No, an attack could make the building collapse. The bath? Using the steam to hide could be good but if a fire broke out villagers would need access to it. Narrow passages would be hard to dodge in and the fields would leave Black Gabumon and herself a sitting duck if multiple enemies chased. Plus going near the entrance could cut off the escape route for everyone else. Maybe a destroyed area everyone has moved on from? It would be best if it had something useful she could steal in the chaos.

Regardless of where they ended up Black Gabumon and herself would meet their fate together.

Dr. Tanaka’s praise made Ruth feel great about her choice of career. She knew medicine was vital in survival even back home. Her drive for being in the medical field is to help people. That may also include being busy and avoiding thinking as much as possible. She will get to see people in good health. She hopes Alex gets it easy and sees the light of day. What was jarring was the warning about her knowledge of medicine. Were there bad people too? Isn’t the best course of action for a doctor to help people despite their agenda?

Ruth took notice of Cutemon’s growling stomach. She had forgotten to offer the little guy some. She was caught up in her head that there were others around. ”Oh, Cutemon, would you like some chips? They’re a tasty snack to share and-” Ruth squeaked in distress as she watched Terriermon practically gobble the entire bag down. His cheeks were puffy as if hoarding the chips like a chipmunk before swallowing.

Terriermon burps and rubs his bloated tummy leaving only crumbs around his mouth as he flopped on his back. ”Boy, am I stuffed. That was great. Thanks, lady.” He peeps over at Ruth and Cutemon perplexed. ”Huh? Was it something I said?”

”I can’t believe you ate the entire bag. Poor Cutemon. I’m so sorry.” Crocodile tears streamed down the platinum blonde’s face. It was short-lived as the crash sound caught her and Terriermon’s attention. Away from the tent are three cloaked figures revealing themselves to be digimon. Seeing them had Ruth’s skin crawl. She recognized them from television shows to games. They were common and known to do more harm than good. A band of them could only mean trouble given their mischievous behavior. On top of that, they’re a virus type. The worst! The sound of Alex’s scanner going off was heard. She took a glance over his shoulder to read the text. A Shamamon a variant of Goblimon.

”What’s going on? What are they doing? She could see the device the trio was forming some kind of contraption to summon another wider, larger digimon, but not without the ear-wrenching screech in the process. Alex’s D-touch pinged again. A Cyclomon. Ruth can already tell none of this is normal. The residents were freaking out as Cyclomon began his little villain rant. Blasphemous? Atone for what? Ruth has never done wrong. All of her life she has been an obedient girl who would put others before herself. Is that considered a sin? Last time she checked no. They weren’t talking about her life, they were talking about the residents who have chosen a peaceful life. How is it wrong?

Something was not adding up and Ruth was annoyed, but her legs were frozen. Afraid of what these digimon are trying to enact. What gospel did they speak of? This all sounded insane. The poor people and houses Gabriel has been trying to protect are being destroyed in one fell swoop by Cyclomon. Disgusting, awful, evil, virus-type creatures. She thought as she instinctively held her crystal out from her bag and held it close praying for their god or hers to stop this madness. Amid Ruth’s daze, she didn’t notice Shamamon’s attack was heading straight towards her until she heard fire whizzing close. Her eyes widened and her life nearly flashed before her eyes.

The pitter-patter of feet bounced in front of Ruth belonging to Cutemon. Alex’s cry went one ear and out the other, as she was facing what could have been her demise or a painful injury. That wouldn’t do well after the seven-day mark. She looks over to her friend and Cutemon processing what just happened before shaking her head back to reality. ”I’m fine, thank you for saving me.” She said to both considering they are a team. Digimon and Digi-destined banding together in the middle of combat is when they start to synchronize their thoughts. They were the same just as she and Impmon were supposed to be. That thought had her disgusted but also feel guilty. There would be no other partner with whom she could synergize than Impmon. Born from her DNA. They were the same whether she liked it or not. Right now he’s currently protecting Arii.

Arii, she hopes they’re ok. Ruth didn’t understand but had faith in Impmon to take care of them. Ruth catches a glimpse of Alex’s face contorted between exhaustion and pain. They were trying to save her, but their injury was an obstacle in his attempts. She couldn’t say anything as she would do the same thing for others to save them. She looks up at Shamamon and the wreckage left behind. Something inside her asked her to fight, but just as her courage was fueled, a larger digimon appeared to block whatever attacked Cyclomon. Vines by the looks of it.

Ruth looks over at Alex’s digivice reading the warning label. This had her heart racing with fear. What kind of device tells you what’s good and what’s not? Is it sentient? At least they knew Groundramon was an incredibly dangerous enemy. There was no way a high-level digimon would be beaten easily. Luckily, they didn’t have to as they were tossed out of the fort with such strength. Whatever did that must pack a punch. Following the vines, near the south gate entrance stood Palamon with Gabriel. It amazed her to think a rookie can take on a high level. Those two were quite something. The blonde sighs, relieved to see it gone for now. They can focus on the Shamamon and Cyclomon.

”Alex, what do you want to do, because I want to help defend this place.” Ruth still carried a bit of fear in her eyes but she wanted to push through and fight these invaders. She wanted to be of use and help Gabriel and Dr.Tanaka for their hospitality. As she waited, she sensed something watching her but wasn’t sure what. She assumed it was the Shamamon's gaze.

----------------------

Her ears were ringing but muffled at the same time. The suddenness of everything meant she remembered only brief moments before the explosion. Raven unearthing the boulder/grave, Arii's kick of the dirt mound, the tiny mushrooms jumping out of the nowhere, then the flash and heat of fire and force before the eventual numbing thud came.

"Guh...! Damn that hurt...everyone okay...?" Róisín asked as she tentatively tried to lift herself up, groaning and wincing as she managed to roll onto her side instead to get some solid purchase with her arms.

"Ow, how about you Lop? Hearing better?" The little bunny digimon had remained in her arms for much of the explosion, only tumbling out by a few feet after they landed and just now righting themselves.

"Mhmm! Head is still ringing but feeling better." Besides some scuffs and dirt marks, Lopmon was fine, busy using her ears to brush off the clumps of dirt stuck to her fur, giving Róisín time to stand back up as her hearing became clearer.

First was the crackling of fire everywhere, and with the strange goop the mushrooms were flinging and launching meant it wasn't gonna be a simple matter of letting it die out. Next were the mini explosions and crying of battle from the attacking digimon, just barely out of sight due to the curtain of flames separating Róisín & Eliam from the others.

"Shit...! Lop, give them a hand and..."

"You weren't the ones I was expecting, but a surprise is always interesting nonetheless. Tell me new children selected by the one we revere... do you know your sins?"

That voice...she froze up at the sound coming from behind her, and from the look of fright in Lopmon's eyes it definitely wasn't just a voice. Slowly opening her arms, Róisín waited until Lopmon stepped closer and leapt into her arms, before finally turning around. The two figures were massive, especially the stalwart knight that stood to the side of the sphinx.

It just lounged around lazily...like any old cat...its face motionless except for the eye slits due to the solid mask, those eyes of it staring straight into Róisín's whole being.

"Answer the question!"

The sudden bark from the knight however snapped her out of it. The fright, fear, it all went away at the sound of a bully trying to push the situation, for an answer.

"Answer huh?....alright...how about it's none of your business! So why don't you and the emo kitty fuck off!"

"The wall never moved, how annoying, our time is limited though so why not have some fun? You woman tell me what is it you see? I can sense it on your soul... your sins crawl up your very being?"

As the purple flames began to dance up around her partner's ankles, Lopmon leapt and stood before Róisín as some kind of defense of what was to come, the red haired woman taking a moment to watch the harmless, lifeless flames crackle around her with no harm.

"Owe your creepy fuck! Get going before I make you..."

"Why?"

It was a voice she always heard whether in her dreams, random memories, but not like this, this time the voice was real and was there.

"Bab's....?!" She quickly turned her head side to side trying to find the voice, until the flames erupted into long crackling arms, latching onto Roísín's arms and wrists and forcing the woman to violently begin grabbing in any attempt to rip them off her.

The flailing going on behind her, made Lopmon take a moment to look back while still trying to stay defending, the bunny trying its best not to let the two digimon out of its sight as Róisín wildly flailed around, grasping and pulling at herself as if trying to remove something that wasn't there.

"Róisín? What's wrong?!"

Lopmon asked, yet her voice, the sounds of fighting, everything blurred out until it was just Róisín and the now loud noises of fire, all the while pulling the stretching arms and doing nothing to stop their slow ascent up her body. All that came from her was angry growling and grunting with every move, the sleeves of her jacket and collar of her top already starting to fray and tear from her own aggressive pulls.

"No...nononono...get offa me...Bab's get offa me!"

Lopmon finally gave in, turning back and at first trying to leap into her partner's arms but getting swiped away wildly by Róisín, before choosing to get up close to her, strangely, motionless and rooted in spot legs.

"Róisín! Róisín it's okay! Nothing's happening!"

The bunny tried its best to grab and shake Roísín's legs, and though she gave as much as she could, it did nothing to snap her partner out of whatever was going on. For Róisín, the flames grew more and more until finally wrapping tight around her arms and pinning them to her sides. Though it had put an end to her animalistic tearing and clawing at herself, to Lopmon, Eliam, and Salamon, they would watch her whole body tense and tighten as if bound.

Doing her best to try and breathe calmly, it came out more like ragid grunts and gulps of air as she glared through the flames at the watching Sphinxmon. Nothing else mattered, she was going to rip these things off her and kick that things as...

"Why?"

The voice was there again, louder, clearer, and as some of the flames grew taller again they became not more hands to bind her, but of faces, all the same face, all with the same pleading look.

"Why?"
"Why Róisín?"
"Why'd you leave us Róisín?"
"You shouldn't have left us Róisín."
"We needed you."
"We were scared."
"Why?"
"Why?"
"Why?"
"Why?"
"Why?"

"I don't know...I fucking don't know!!" She screamed as if she'd been holding it in forever, perhaps she had. It would be now the time she'd wake up from one of her many similar dreams, but it didn't stop, she didn't wake up, the voices kept repeating and melding by the second, berating her with endless questions until tears streamed down her face as she tried to shut her eyes.

Lopmon could only stop and step away in shock as her partner just stood there, and screamed, and cried, all while the cat and knight watched on.

"What did you do to her...?" She asked as her little paws clenched tightly, the easy-going attitude replaced with a growing and similar feeling to that of her partner. Anger.

"What did you do?!" She roared as she swung around to face the two powerful digimon, teether clenching with rage as she glared at them both. Though she didn't give them much of a chance to respond, before launching herself like a bullet towards the Sphinx, twirling in mid air as a familiar gathering of wind took over. Though it was dark in tint, as if taking some of the dark flames and energy that covered the area before she unleashed an rippling twister of dark power and wind crackling towards the cause of Roísín's pain.

"Dark Twister!!!"

"Wait your turn you damn interloper... screw it doesn't matter the order. Big Bro reprieve us a moment if you will to prove ourselves," Shamamon growled as the headphone-wearing rabbit negated his attack to his frustration as he pointed his Hammer at Cutemon. He paused and watched the limping Ace run over to the girl, causing him to grin maliciously as he chimed to his brothers. With a circle wave of his hammer, his two brothers chuckled as they followed him leaving big bro Cyclomon to continue chiming his sermons of despair to the humans as they fled halting as he heard Shamamons request.

"Then prove it well in the eyes of the Veil," the bigger entity put its hands together as if giving a prayer to the three rookies crossing its arms in three loops halting his attack and watching what would come. Its stance was disturbing as the champion seemed to take a more statue-like pose seeing nothing as a threat with Palmon, and Gabriel distracted at this time. With the permission to watch their noble cause granted the three Shamamon charged a trio barrage.

"Shama Strike," in unison the trio sent a barrage of Fireballs out blasting around Cutemon rather than direct contact or in the range of that sonic blast of his. As the dirt was thrown all around Cutemon in a semi-formulated smokescreen. The duo brothers ran opposite sides of Cutemon charging for ace, and Ruth as the leading Shamamon charged right for the pink rabbit.

"Dancing Bone," as if out of nowhere a bone appeared in the leading Shamamons hands as it spun it right for Cutemon before jabbing its hands into the earth to follow in its assault.

"Don't think we're going to let you betrayers protect these pieces of trash. You should be punishing them as well, knowing all about them like you Bio's do how can you so casually protect them like it isn't a betrayal to your own kind? Iwa Tobashi, " the leading Shamamon growled with evident hatred of humans, and any who sided with them. As its hand pulled out of the earth a small boulder came with it as Shamamon lifted it into the air to swing it down onto the bunny.

In sequence, the other two Shamamon quickly made it for Ruth, and Ace their clubs at the ready as they closed in adding intimidation to the air as they continuously struck the ground as they got closer. Right until the moment one of them got close enough to swing it seemed nothing would be able to halt the pain that would be delivered

"WATER SHOT," the one aiming for Ace was hit hard in the face by a water-filled bubble causing it to slip with the now slippery mud underneath its feet as it ate the ground hard as Dr. Tanaka carrying Syakomon came running towards them.

"DON'T JUST STAND THERE ACT." However, the one gunning for Ruth jutted its hammer out in the distance at her, ready to bash in her arm. Yet as the girl brought out her crystal, the entity unseen squinted its eyes. Was this girl a believer? The entity observed to see how this girl would act.

The lead Kotemon sword was unexpectedly blocked as the flames sprayed against the resistant insectile shield-like binding of Tentomons wings quick to be followed as the attacker yelped in pain with his hand hitting point blank against the one true spike on Tentomons backside. Letting go of its blade and jumping backwards the Lead Kotemon snatched the veil ribbon attached to its blade's handle. With a strong tug, it pulled on it revealing an iron ball tied to the other end of it as it pulled on the ribbon a second time to avoid losing its weapon catching it by the handle upon touchdown with the ground.

Spinning it around it was about to say something, but was quickly caught off guard with Tentomon's unpredictable counter aggression as it spun into lead Kotemon sending it flying back a bit as it buried its blade in the ground to avoid going any further. The copper helmet-guarded face of the rookie shot up looking at the insect as it gripped its wooden blade taking a more serious stance as it accepted Tentomon as its opponent.

"So you choose to protect sin, and sin without punishment leads only to a miserable death," it whispered with a husky-like voice taking a step to the side sizing Tentomon up. It seemed like it was using a mixture of scare tactics most likely only wanting Tentomon to move so it could go straight for Kimi again. These Digimon of the veil... were very bloodthirsty for the humans alone it seemed. That was when at the side of its view it saw a Bushi Agumon reaching for its blade as it existed the bar hut right next to them. Thinking it was an ally to this lot it turned around spinning the ball end of the ribbon and sending it at Bushi Agumon it quickly wrapped around the Agumon Variant's throat as electricity sparked off the Lead Kotemon's blade.

"Thunder Kote," it spoke prominently as it pulled don't the ribbon causing Bushi Agumon to run forward right into an electrified wooden blade it struck Bushi Agumon's sword arm Electrifying the unsuspecting Agumon, Kotemon with that same blade now started producing even more electricity shouting this time with much intent behind its strike.

"Inazuma-Giri," with a forward slash a wave of electrical energy went straight for Tentomon as it kicked Bushi Agumon back to where it had been pulled to slam into the doorway entrance freeing it from the ribbon around its neck. With what it considered a threat dealt with the lead Kotemon went for Tentomon charging forward with a still electrically charged blade. A wooden blade stained with hate was wrathfully pointed at Kimi as it again clearly wanted her over everyone else present.

Yet it now realized to deliver the wraith of judgment, Tentomon had to be dealt with first.

Almost like a boundless ball of energy from hell, Gladimon continued to chase after Mei in its Wheel Rush stance using the spinning top attack like a mode of transportation slicing through everything it made contact with as it buzzsawed after the woman and her Black Variant partner. No matter where she went he was never far behind as people jumped out of the way from the pursuit, it was indeed clear Gladimon was fixated on punishing this woman out of the crowd such a prominent figure no doubt would make for a greater good example.

Gladimon sliced through cart stands, sides of huts, minor artworks, and numerous other wooden constructs in its pursuit of Mei. Much structural damage was made to the livelihoods of those around as the longer she ran the more momentum and objects Gladimon sliced through.

However, as the chase led to the front left side area of the fort the ability to stagger Gladimon behind would end with nothing but a now empty field of view up until the gate wall. As Gladimon halted its swirling nature landing on its feet as it spun and skidded behind them his blades firmly pointed at both Black Gabumon and the sinful woman. All that was left around them were some wooden scaffolds used for constructing work on the gate. A few even notable have wheels on them.

"Cornered yourself like the flea-ridden mutts you are," Gladimon scowled having not been a fan of being made to chase them this far by any means. the fact they could hold out this long was an annoyance in itself. However, the few rough breaths he made showed evidence of expended energy, and no doubt some damage from hitting everything in its pursuit of her. A payoff for damage was no doubt still a payoff, and as Mei had aimed nothing integral was hit. Yet there was still much energy at hand as the ball knight shouted.

"Ready to face the build-up of your past decisions?" It shouted as one of its kotemon subordinates came into view from behind him causing the knight digimon to laugh. "Good form now batter the woman up we shall hang her from the gate of the fort as a warning to any other humans foolish enough to make peaceful a living. I'll deal with the lap dog," the Kotemon nodded in the command though it voiced a concern.

"I thought we weren't supposed to kill them per Cardinal Ancient Sphinxmon's order my Deacon," it spoke giving out strange church titles of certain entities as well as to the knight Digimon itself.

"No worries we won't kill her. How will she scream the errors of her ways if she's dead? They cannot gain salvation if they die in the process, besides, they will heal... maybe," the Gladimon righteously explained making it evident how much it planned to do with its goals for its prey. Nodding in acknowledgment the Pinball knight shot straight for Black Gabumon aiming to dig its small foot into the chubby reptile's stomach before following with a kick aimed for his head.

Kotemon sprinted in a sideways run around the two aiming for Mei's left leg with the intent to halt her ability to run.

The Mushmon were surprised by Ji-Su's quick recovery. They hadn't experience this type of rapid response before more so used to humans caving in immediately like the last pair they had dealt with, but this set had someone trained for combat. That was a first even for the Firamon watching in the background as it sharply watched how this would go gauging if it would need to step in. That lapse of surprise was all Commandramon needed though to break the solid record set so far by the enemy.

"GAH," both Mushmon yelped and were thrown sideways by the DCD Bomb taking unexpected damage and negating their punch rush tactic. This caused the leader Musmon to bite his lip as he hadn't expected to play a game of war with a human, and that vile comment started to boil his blood as she spoke their tactic to the letter. She was able to discern the strategy that the mushrooms had with the lion, and on top of that caused them to slowly start panicking. The Lead Mushmon's mind snapped back in when he realized that Commandramon was gunning for him.

"Brute you're up," he spoke as the bigger Mushmon got in front of the boss, and tanked the hit for him as the leader restrategized. During the gunfire both the prior Mushmon had recovered with both now aiming to sneak up on their intended targets during the chaos. Yet as the one who snuck up on Arii was preparing to attack they were met with an odd stare from the human... what was it doing?

BAM

Without warning the rather light mushroom was met with a boot to the face as the Arii insanely charged the taken-off guard Mushmon punting it into a spiral scream as it slammed right into a tree. Combined with the prior DCD concussion the Mushmon in question now had a legit disoriented nature fumbling about sweating that green slime from before barely as it dropped to its knees trying to recover its senses. Ironically the Mushmon and Arii seemed to mimic each other in current conditions.

"Brother your glands calm yourself," the Mushmon who had been aiming for Commandramon called out in a panic before they were set upon by a rushing Impmon who screamed out profanities that even caused the Lion to growl almost as if in warning. However, the jabs quickly turned into direct insults to the Mushmon leader who still hid behind his bigger brother. Ironically without knowing it, Impmon hit the nail on the coffin with one of those insults. At the end of the hurdling insults and yelling at his teammates Impmon point blank blasted the rookie mushroom charging for Commandramon with a blast of chilling weather as ice shards shattered against its body. The intent of the attack was so piercing that it even mixed into the Rifle fire attack doubling down on harming the bigger Mushmon's defense as the joint attack broke its guard forcing it back as the leader pushed against the bigger one making sure he didn't fall.

Once the onslaught was over the Mushmon who had been directly attacked by Impmon though sluggish at first from the chilling slow effects inflicted on its body seemed to hold onto its charge power as it slugged Impmon in the face.

"Rough S-Much," the energy transferred from Mushmon's fist into Impmons face as it forced the imp back blocking Commandramons view just long enough for the charging bigger Mushmon to make the distance as it rammed its head into the reptile lifting it up on top its mushroom top cap, and ran with the gun-toting lizard until ramming Commandramon into a tree. Though upon impact the clicking of icicles revealed Impmons attack had frozen a small chunk of the bigger Mushmon's mushroom cap.

"You humans are the vile ones, and when we are done with you we will be granted the Rank of Deacon. Truly becoming a part of the cause so EAT IT IMP AND ACCEPT YOUR ROLE AS FODDER TO MY GROWTH. POISON S-MUCH," The leader finally entered the fray as Impmon had aimed to achieve unfortunately that achievement came with the sight of numerous small mushroom bombs held by the leader of the mushrooms enough to cause some serious havoc as he aimed to throw them all at Impmon, and the humans behind him.

"Silk Thread," a thin shot of silk came from the left side of the woods piercing multiple bombs within the lead Mushmon's arsenal causing the mushroom's eyes to go wide as his own attack triggered on him blowing up in his face. From the same area from where the attack had come a very frantic, and heavy-breathing Raven sprinted out like a mad woman yelling like a gladiator as she held up Wormmon in the air.

"WAIT RAVEN I THINK WE SHOULD STILL TALK ABOUT TTHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS," halting into a shot putter stance Raven launched Wormmon into the air targeting the Mushmon that had sucker punched Impmon flying through the air like a shot put Wormmon did the only thing she could do in this situation.

"WORMMMMMM WHEEEEELLLLLLL," the bug screamed as she rolled up into a ball and dunked onto the Mushmons cap causing him to flail backward from the head trauma as Wormmom bounced landing behind Impmon with her head spinning in circles. "Did I... do good.... coach," she blurted out having earned a concussion from the attack as well. Raven with what energy she had left ran over to Ji-Su, and Arii unable to speak before seeing Arii puck caused her to also puck.

"Where... are.... the others," Raven asked having been blinded in the initial explosion having no idea they had been uprooted onto the cliff. However, upon seeing Firamon in the distance she yelped as it was now sitting only on its hind legs evidently not happy with the way this fight was going. As the dust cleared around the Mushmon leader he noticed this too, and shouted.

"Get it together idiots we need to finish this up asap," an unexpected panic was now in the Mushmon's words as if suddenly everything going on was on a timer. He charged in a strange move for a strategist as he went to aid his brother near Impmon, and Wormmon.

Ace’s mind was racing as Ruth asked him what he wanted to do. His instinct was screaming at him to get out of here. He knew he wasn’t much use like this, not in the middle of a battle with those monsters. Every inch of his body felt the weight of his injuries. They weren’t even after him or Ruth specifically. Their focus was on the settlement, attacking the buildings and people around them, and then Ace noticed it, the bands wrapped around the Shamamon’s wrists and Cyclomon’s horn, eerily similar to the tentacles that had dragged him into this nightmare world. His stomach dropped and a cold sense of dread crept into his chest. These creatures were connected to whatever had brought them here. The anxiety surged but he swallowed it down, forcing himself to appear calm in front of Ruth.

He wanted to tell her they should run, to escape while they still could, but as he looked at her, he saw the determination in her eyes, even through the flickers of fear. She wanted to stay and fight, to defend this place and repay the kindness Gabriel and Dr. Tanaka had shown them. If that’s what Ruth wanted, Ace wasn’t about to stop her. He didn’t have much hope for himself. His leg, the constant pain, it all made him feel like a lost cause. But Ruth? She still had a chance and as long as he was around he’d do everything he could to protect her.

"I’m with you." Ace said, finally forcing the words out.

Before he could say anything more, the Shamamon trio charged, fireballs erupting in their wake. One of them spun a bone, launching an attack toward Cutemon, while the others zeroed in on him and Ruth, their clubs slamming the ground as they advanced. Ace’s heart pounded. With Cutemon preoccupied, he knew there was no way they could fend them off. Just as one Shamamon prepared to swing at him, a blast of water hit it square in the face, sending it slipping in the mud. Ace blinked in shock, glancing up to see Dr. Tanaka charging in with Syakomon.

“DON’T JUST STAND THERE, ACT!” she shouted.

What!? What do you expect me to do!? Ace screamed internally. His heart pounded as he took in the scene around him. He was barely holding it together, still limping, barely able to move, then his eyes landed on the Shamamon who had slipped, its club lying in the mud just a few feet away. A flicker of determination ignited in him. Without thinking, Ace lunged forward, ignoring the sharp pain that shot through his injured leg. His knee buckled and he collapsed into the dirt but his outstretched hand managed to brush against the weapon's rough surface. Mud smeared his fingers as he reached for the club and attempted to pull it toward him.

At the same moment, Cutemon struggled to track the Shamamon's erratic movements. The fireball smokescreen obscured most of the battlefield but Cutemon’s sharp ears twitched as they sensed something cutting through the air. The bone flew toward them, spinning with deadly precision, yet at the last second, Cutemon dodged, narrowly avoiding the strike. However, as Cutemon attempted to regain their footing, the lead Shamamon let out a sneering laugh.

"Iwa Tobashi!" With a heave, he lifted the small boulder he had unearthed earlier and swung it down. The massive rock hit its target, crashing into Cutemon with a heavy thud. The fairy Digimon let out a pained cry and Ace’s breath caught in his throat. His mind screamed at him to help Cutemon, to do something but his injured leg kept him rooted in place. Panic clawed at him as he tightened his grip around the club. He had no idea what he was going to do with it but he knew one thing: He wasn’t going to stand by and let Ruth and Cutemon get hurt. Not while he could still do something.

Tentoman got to her feet, her brow furrowing as she saw the iron ball dangle from Kotemon's sword. Her antenna's twitched at the low husky whisper of the Kotemon's threat. "Kimi's no baddie." she retorted, mirroring the other rookies movements "She's a superhero!"

Circling each other, Kotemon made the first move and Tentoman instinctively blocked only to watch as her face masked foe attacked an Agumon, who stumbled out of a nearby doorway. In one clear, measured move the Kotemon pushed back the buzzed bystander and was back upon Tentomon. A wave of electrical energy surged towards the lady bug, crackling through the air with deadly force. Tentoman’s eyes widened as the wave rushed toward her. For a brief second, it looked like she was caught off guard. But then, her compound eyes flashed with determination. She was a superhero, like her sister!

"Not today!" she buzzed, her wings flaring as she darted forward, right into the path of the oncoming attack. She clenched her hands into fists, as her claws glowed faintly with her own stored electricity. Tentoman dodged to one side and swung a claw with precise timing, punching the electric wave aside.

"Pow!" she chittered, her eyes bright and full of hope.

The first punch deflected the brunt of the wave, sending sparks flying in all directions, as Kotemon charged towards each other. Tentoman thought she could see Kotemon’s eyes widen in surprise as she let out a battle cry. "Thwack!"

With a cheeky insectoid smile, she aimed a final punch straight to Kotemon’s chin.

Kimi was humbled by her partners words. Naively the rookie had believed her act, but it had been just an act. 'Cool Kimi' had no superpowers, no weapons to fight with as conflict raged all around her. Holding her cards close, she watched as her friends fought valiantly to protect her. Gryzmon roared with effort as he tussled with Tuskmon, causing Kimi to turn to him and remember her words. She had said she wanted to help, and she had meant it. Just as if it was a promise. With a look of fiery resolve, she rushed to help Gryzmon.

Stuffing her cards, both boxed and loose, into her dress, she hastily pulled away the coat of 'Cool Girl'. With dust and dirt billowing, as huge feet strained and pounded into the ground, Kimi threw her coat with as much strength as she could, whipping it around herself and hurling the long white coat towards Tuskmon's face.

---------

Bushi-Agumon hadn't even gone two steps before he was choked, kicked then slammed into the doorway he just left through, bouncing off the wooden beam that the bartender had placed. Momentarily stunned, the Digimon wakened with a mighty burp. The sound of hammering nails from inside the café rattled through B-A's head, the rookie whining irritably and stumbling back into the fray.

Vison blurred and his mind addled, the saurian samurai headed towards the other Kotemon, perceiving him as his attacker and reached for his katana by his side only to be rocked by a electrically charged spasm. Bushi-Agumon only laughed goofily, and reached awkwardly for his blade with his other claw as he neared the battle locked Gazimon and Kotemon. The mammalian Digimon was locked in a fierce battle, holding back the wooden sword of Kotemon with his paws, his body trembling from the effort.

"Heh... Prepare to die..." Bushi-Agumon slurred with a tipsy grin, swaggering forward.

He pawed aimlessly at his katana with his off hand, his claws scraping the hilt. The Agumon variant mewled, unable to grip his sword, his face increasingly sour until he gave up. Swaying, he rocked towards Kotemon, his face like that of a petulant child. "Bubble Breath!" he announced, belching into Kotemon's mask.

It was just like one of those scenes from the movies of the girl going chase me tee hee and the guy going oh you tee hee trying to catch her if the girl was sprinting like she just had to get to the black Friday sale to maul a store clerk as her god given right and the guy was a murderous rejected pachinko ball with swords that would get him laughed out of the renaissance fair.

Black Gabumon was also there.

Finding themselves in a corner of the fort gate the duo stopped not only to catch their breath but because Mei had achieved her goal of finding somewhere better to square up against the silver pistachio. Dipping into a building was an option but if they played hide and seek, they risked not having time to try and find Ruth and Ace. Despite Ace existing, Ruth’s personality probably meant she chased off all potential allies if how she acted when Arii was in danger the last time. Mei glanced quickly to determine the quality of the wooden scaffolding when Gladimon skidded behind them.

“Do fleas exist here?” Mei asked Black Gabumon quietly gesturing to the ranting Gladimon. She figured the duo whispering while looking at him would annoying him into making a mistake in a fit of rage. Freshly bathed Black Gabumon was nice and clean unlike the dirty minded Gladimon who had now sealed his fate of becoming room temperature.

“I have never seen a flea in my life,” replied one day old Black Gabumon.

“He doesn’t even know you’re a reptile…ara now he’s mansplaining how one’s existence works,” Mei said shaking her head. Gladimon's speech confirmed he was just as dumb as she sensed he was. Sadly, it was the kind of stupid that could not be manipulated.

It seemed like bring your child soldier to work day Digimon that popped out behind him was slightly less stupid, Mei could work with that. Given the white knight attitude and the mention of the deacon and cardinal it seemed they operated on a sort of feudal era mindset. With a shared look Black Gabumon and Mei were more than ready to face the build-up of her past decisions they were ready set go as the pair split apart.

“Black ice,” Black Gabumon waited until Gladimon committed to his attack before they sprinted away leaving a trail of icicles in their wake. Gladimon seemed to favor reckless movement which should allow them to dodge the knight easily enough but the difference in strength would make it hard to win in a straight fight. Best to try and move under the scaffolding and bait him into attacking from a position they could abuse. It was a good thing Black Gabumon had snuck in a nap to be in tip top shape.

“Petit Fire,” Black Gabumon followed up aiming not at Gladimon since the Digimon could easily brute force their way through it but at the ice left behind from their first attack. Since the idiot seemed obsessed with it why not create a steamy situation.

Meanwhile Mei sprinted off in the other direction at another set of scaffolding. She had been afraid to take the advantageous higher ground in case Gladimon had cut the wooden structure down but that was no longer her most pressing concern.

“Ara? people die when they are killed you know. It is a shame your superior has lost his way defying the Cardinal’s orders. How sinful of him to shred my clothing so he can gaze lecherously at me under this perversion of justice. When I think of him someone who can’t even tell a dog and a reptile apart blaming you for this and getting away with it I…Kyaa~” Mei let out a little distressed princess scream before faking a fall and catching herself against the scaffolding. With luck Mei could use part of the structure to blunt the blow the digimon was aiming for if it came down to that.

While the group had a healer using her wiles would allow Mei to gain more from the situation than getting injured trying to directly throw hands with the child. While the round knight was round, armored, and only had a small window on their face to try and stab a wooden stake in this little sports day enthusiast seemed a lot easier to handle. Just the right amount of servitude ingrained as well.

If using her words failed and Kotemon still attacked her with their stick she would show them the true wit of a villainess by kicking him to death or something.

Eliam looked at the puzzle for a moment, hearing Raven’s voice behind him as he noticed the star was exactly what you would think of as a key. He thought of what could be in this puzzle box, but it was clear that they would devise a plan to open it later and he wanted to see if they could. It would be childish for the star to be the key and if it was, it was important for him to decide if he could trust them before he showed them anything. He sighed as he let the puzzle box fall to his side, in his hand, his pockets were not big enough to hold on to it, so he turned to Róisín to see if she wanted it back. But as he did, he noticed the cross the others were looking at, and then Salamon seemed to be alerted, as the new Digimons appeared before them.

Eliam was alerted as soon as Arii was attacked, but he had no time to react. He was too far to do anything while the large Digimon got between him and the others, with Róisín beside him. It took moments of thought before he felt the lift of the explosion, his grip on the puzzle box loosened as he clinched onto Salamon. He was holding her tightly against his chest to protect her from the flying rocks around them and the debris that they landed on. He coughed as the smoke of the rocks cleared.

“Fine,” Salamon said, as Eliam sat up and coughed the last of the explosion smoke out of his lungs before standing up. His eyes looked up at the new digimo and the sound of that familiar question, as he stood. HIS SIN. That question got him to catch his breath as he got up, his sin. That was a big sin, in his eyes that he would never let happen again. His eyes looked at the Digimon, feeling Salamon’s body shaking, he held her close as he assured her he was on her side.

The Digimon talked to each other, and a new one appeared, tensing up. Eliam could tell Róisín was seeing something. But he had to face these three alone. He took a breath as he straightened up, letting Salamon go. He stood up as she fell to the ground on her feet, looking up at him. “Eliam?”

Eliam lowered his head looking down at Salamon, “Resentment!” Eliam repeated, before he looked at the Digimon, bending his knees he jumped up and nodded when he landed back on the ground. He nodded, “Okay.” he resented his behavior, his father, and his birth, but there was no way that he was going to ignore his sin. It was just not big enough for them. They must feed off them and he was at a disadvantage by himself. He glanced to Salamon, “Ario.” she nodded, understanding what he was thinking.

Eliam took a breath before he rushed over, Salamon rushed with him, and they moved simultaneously. Eliam rushed to Róisín as Salamon jumped up towards the Digimon, “Happy Paw” she announced, as she blasted her beam toward the four-legged Digimon.

Eliam reached Róisín when Salamon attacked, he had no idea what was going on with her, but he had to find a way for her to get out of it. It took him a moment to notice that her tense body was unmoved. So, he took a moment, before stepping back and thrusting his body forward to tackle her core with all the weight his body could muster up. He slammed his body to move her so that she feel the motion intensely so that it would hopefully snap her out of whatever she was seeing.

With the actions of Arii, Ji-Su had no intentions of holding on to the railing of a sinking ship as Arii decided to fight the Digimon hand to hand. Releasing her hand from the human mystery, Ji-Su would not be engaging these monsters in hand to hand, it was, well, unwise to say the least and Ji-Su was getting fed up with this situation in general. It was then that Commandramon was rammed into a tree by the big man... err, mushroom man. It was one hell of a hit, but Ji-Su was not phased in the slightest as she swung her right hand forward and called out.

"Commandramon! On your feet! Surely prime cybernetics and technology will not be bested by an overgrown fungus! On your Feet Soldier!"

With her voice dripping condescending venom, the Korean woman stares at the brute as he comes in, aiming to inflict a wound upon his psyche, she called to him directly, the reason for her being in the Army and not a corporation became abundantly clear.

"Oh Deacon? How nice you have a church. Unfortunately, I don't believe in your God. In fact, where is your God now? I am to be the Devil upon you! Useless scrap of Data! Whatever sin I have pales in comparison to cowards and murderers.

And I shall embrace that sin."

With the lengthy exposition, Ji-Su stands he ground snarling as her hand comes up, as if in tandem with the unexpected attack from Raven. "The other direction from us." Ji-Su said in simple reply as she glared at the Mushmon, when suddenly, Commandramon launched to his fit and whipped his tail at the organic enemy before leveling his rifle in a hip fire position, "The only thing being finished, shall be you."

"Commandramon! Leep back, CDC Bomb, then aim for his eyes and mouth! M16 Assassin! Brace and block after! Don't let that Deacon of stupidity a centimeter closer! You can break him!" Giving a nod and some sort of primal growl, he did so, furthering the chain of detonations that were engulfing the brute, before then firing right where the face and head should be, then bracing and reading for hand to hand combat as Ji-Su quickly repositioned behind the blue commando.

Arii would like it to be on record before their death that they were trapped with two of their new least favorite people in the world and that they maybe shouldn't be accountable for the things that made them want to do.

That was the only thought in their brain as they watched what read to their concussed understanding as, broadly, a catastrophe. Less broadly, they told Green so, but noo, rush-in-first bastard couldn't wait five fucking minutes to clear the perimeter.

Their logical understanding knew it would have helped nothing, but a firepit of their previous bonfire still simmered in their chest. They did their best to keep it tame, but everything was making that kind of hard, maybe? Oh it's a fucking wonder.

This world was going to drive them to drink. Chel had been here a few years, surely they had some kind of beer or something, right? Cocaine or Fentanyl, maybe not, but could they hope for some opium? Just a few poppies?

Man, not even their suicide jokes were funny with this headache.

Arii wiped bile from their mouth and forced themself upright, trying to ignore the way the ground spun under their feet. "Fuck me sideways," they grumbled to themself, dazed and clouded gaze following the lead mushroom and its panic at the disgusting green ooze. Hm. "Energy use, maybe," they mumbled to themself, somewhat unaware about what exactly was coming out of their mouth but mostly understanding the broad concepts. "Then again, I guess if they blow themselves up we could launch them into the sun."

They had seen the cat stand.

Maybe it was the concussion. Maybe it was Arii just being 110% done with everything about that whole situation. Maybe the gunfire reminded them of their siblings and that brought them some shred of confidence.

Maybe it was Skyfaller Number 12 yelling in their damn ear all the fucking time and posing like some two-bit cosplayer. Army their ass. Maybe she was still in bootcamp, goddamn.

In any case, they turned on a heel lazily. Dark eyes found the firecat almost immediately. The memory of Impmon's verbal... poking had them pulling their lips back, baring their teeth in some strange mime of a smile. Confidence, can't-catch-me, lazy, uninterested, you small, small, small, small. Their molars peeked out from the corner of their mouth. Their neck arched. Catch-nothing. Challenge, not-challenge, too-easy, stupid. And they growled, low and deep in their chest like an angry dog. Coward, watching do-nothing, chases-tail-for-fun.

They laughed. They laughed, and to them it was desperate, hurt, scared, angry, angry, angry, angry help me, help me, but to ears it was a bark of Stupid, you-stupid, can't-growl, baby-thing. It was insult, and challenge, and fight me-me-me-me-me, sneeze-at-you. It was exactly the echo of what remained of their grasp of English as they started talking and. Simply. Didn't. Stop.

"Stupid little cat," they cackled a hyena's laugh, harsh and biting, and they were so, so, so, so angry, that bonfire exploded. "Stupid little cat and it's sad little mushrooms does your god not love you enough? Are you not enough for it? Can you blame it?" Their teeth flashed with every poisoned word, and yet their chest wound ever tighter like a thread about to break. "Lookit you, so cute, so foolish." They stumbled. Whether or not they were even aware of what they were saying, was debatable.

"You want to kill me?" Their cackle pitched to a bark of a laugh, the sharp syllable mocking. "Go-A-Fuckin-Head, you cheap, spineless, children who hide their desires in the illusion of morality." They were stepping forward as the smoke from Commandramon's barrage cleared. It was like they'd stolen Green's confidence, with that fire burning in their chest, hunting, stalking, eating everything, because there was nothing, and they were so, so, so angry. "Sin," they hissed, and spat the remains of their vomit towards the cat, "is the language of those who understand nothing but what they are told." Hm. Maybe they should have gone to therapy. "Morality is the currency of the privileged and inflated." Their knife was out. They didn't know why.

They were so, so tired.

And the derivative of sin squared of 2x was negative 2sin(2x)cos(2x).

"If your god wants to kill me, then they can do it their damn self. Their desires mean nothing if they do naught but send lonely little bastards who have nothing to their name but faith in the one who uses them for work they don't even really want done. The Veil can take its tentacle arms and shove them RIGHT up its nonexistent ASSHOLE if it cares so much." They were holding out their knife. Fingers by the blade, balancing it between their thumb and index like they'd done a hundred times before. Its hilt faced the cat. An offer. "If you're going to kill something," they spat, "then kill it for your own reasons, you filthy casual."

It was now or never. Ace seemed to contemplate the question. His face contorted to different emotions and she could tell he was reluctant to help. Even if he said no, she would understand, but she was not running away. She couldn’t this time. A debt is a debt she must repay. That small glance he gave her must have changed his mind easily. Her dear friend accepted, and while Ruth felt a little guilty, she was happy to know he would stand by her. ”Good.”

Ruth turned to the commotion. She didn’t notice the Shamamon trio targeted them. Cutemon fought one off while two others got the jump on them. Each aiming for the other. Their drumming terrified Ruth. She clutched the crystal in her hands tightly as one aimed for Ace. ”No!” She cried out in alarm ready to push the man and take both hits. Dr. Tanaka and Sayakomon countered Shamamon into sleeping on mud in time. What a relief.

That was the least of her problems. A Shamamon was aiming right at her too. The only difference is she did not have backup. Ruth raised the crystal to Shamamon’s face hoping to ward it away. ”No, stop! Go away!” She turned her head and shut her eyes tight as if what she was doing would work.

”Bunny Blast!” A green ball shot past Ruth and locked onto Shamamaon. A heavyweight sat on Ruth’s right shoulder. When she opened her eyes she found Terriermon had propped themselves there. ”Didn’t you listen to the doc? Don’t stand around. That crystal ain’t gonna do nothing for ya. I suggest you move.” He advised.

Mission Update... DEFEAT FIRAMON / Out Last Ancient Sphinxmon

"This one has quite the mad bark," Ancient Sphinxmon playfully amused as Roisin did indeed bark like a dog at him. Yet he raised a paw to halt the hostility of respect Dark Knightmon wanted to bash into the woman's skull.

"Did I not say we were too hasty with the last two my Archbishop? Remember our goal is to punish not kill, that is to be preserved for the... special extreme cases. Forgive that we have some... very loyal members of the cause. Loyalty can sometimes cause people to be blind to the way things should work... but the goal of the veil is to correct, not break," the giant armored feline digimon mused though the last bit held some caution of warning to which knight digimon caught as he stood up straight into a guards stance. It was evident now that the death of the two tamers had come from the action of the knight, yet, the fact that the cat casually saw it as forgivable meant its opinion on humanity was rather low as well or it considered life fleeting.

"Sorry my Cardinal," He bowed causing Ancient Sphinxmon to wave it off as forgiven as he turned back to Roisin, and Eliam almost as if Lopmon and Salamon didn't exist to him. Yet as his flames converged around Roisin he could hear it all... the musical screams of atonement... this woman went from fierce to humble in a flick of a paw. The human female uttered a name it seemed to be someone she must have wronged, the descent into admittance of her crimes turned violent as the woman clawed at her own clothes.

"Good accept the crime committed once you can utter it aloud you can start to be truly purged of its weight on your soul," Ancient Sphinxmon chimed watching Lopmon try to help her with pleads of kindness to be okay. Bio Digimon were such an odd lot. It seemed now Ancient Sphinxmon even realized that Salamon existed as well he never understood their part in the plan, but they existed so they had a sort of role. However, the human woman's glare at the apex of her sins choking her caused the cat to sit upright as she started to talk finally.

"Just admit what you done, and it will stop. For now," Ancient Sphinxmon directed yet the woman was strong-willed and stubborn the act itself never escaped her lips yet tears flowed aplenty through her eyes. Ancient Sphinxmon watched his work appeased by all that was happening like a sadist to him this was some sort of healing process one to relish in accomplishing. Yet in this grand design, a voice pierced the joy causing the cat to finally turn his face down towards Lopmon.

"Isn't it obvious? I am stripping her of her sin. I am patching her soul back together but first I must rip the tainted...," Ancient Sphinxmon answered with a voice that believed what it said without a doubt yet in the mix of its answer Lopmon had enough resorting to wraith as a swirl of dark energy in the form of a tiny twister came at the felines head.

Dark Knightmon swung his Lance ready to end the rookie, but by an unexpected margin, the attack hit its marks as it burst against Ancient Sphinxmon's head. Dark energy rippled past its mask leaving no dent not even a scratch from the ricochet Lopmon was sent flying back to where she had started slamming into the ground to be revealed to the sight of Ancient Sphinxmon's paw having blocked Dark Knightmons lance.

"No, I believe the bunny is right. Any further, and we will probably break her like the other two. This is a long process we are going to have to work on. Humans can't break through their sins that easily it seems. We will have to do this quite a few more times," Ancient Sphinxmon mused before his attention was pulled away by Eliam repeating the very word the sphinx had labeled him as.

"Oh? Now I smell it, you're letting it bubble over now? Curious," the black cat Digimon spoke curious as to how Eliam could have hidden that hardy sin that he was starting to smell as hatred. Then they charged, Human & Bio Digimon just like Lopmon, Salamon went for Ancient Sphinxmon with an attack with no force worth doing damage as it split apart against his mask. It was to be expected the massive gap between a Rookie, and a Mega was like that of a mountain chasm. Though Dark Knightmon behaved this time it was Kougamon who fumed with rage as the human had ignored his shuriken warning.

It was eerie how much Ancient Sphinxmon didn't mind taking the hits never showing wraith, or disdain from the resistance. He was simply, amused. Yet as Eliam tackled Roisin the game of fun ended as the flames that only Roisin could see flickered out of existence. It was almost like what they were preaching they were just testing... these acts were almost like ones of those testing the waters. Horrifyingly though it was clear Ancient Sphinxmon planned to enjoy every single moment of learning how to get it right as his paw raised ready to inflict the same curse again the moment Roisin caught her breath.

"Shall we continue the cure to your affliction," Ancient Sphinxmon gladly asked. Before anyone could answer two waves of data stream came flying up the cliff siphoning into the two digivices present as the sphinx paused seeming surprised this time.

"Well, that's curious what was that just now," Ancient Sphinxmon demanded of the two humans present as both digivices duo satellite apps blinked until the data was fully absorbed.

The big Mushmon grinned grunting as it tried to pop the cyber lizard like a zit against the tree, but upon the call of its master science proved its danger to nature. The lizard broke the hold landing a direct tail whip onto the frozen bit of his Mushroom cap shattering the iced spot off in an ironic pop. The larger Mushmon howled in pain as it backed away reeling from the damage. It only had a moment to look back at its opponent before being layered with rifle fire.

"Gahhhhhhhh," the force sent the brute mushroom backward rolling away like a bowling ball from the point-blank rapid fire far away from his brothers, and the team. Firamon scowled at this showing from the mushrooms, but more so in response to Ji-Su's words... if she wanted his ire she had earned it. This alone put more fear into the lead Mushmon they were losing this situation, and at this point, something worse was to come if they didn't turn it around here.

"You're insane lady... BRO FIGHT BACK OR WERE ALL DEAD," the Mushmon leader uttered wide-eyed at the difference in will to this woman in comparison to their prior targets. Which was then followed by Ravens, and Wormmon's flow of attack.

"Is there a reason we're preaching the enemy," Raven asked confused having not been around for all the enemy's religious insanity chatter.

"Yaaaayyyy ugh," Wormmon weakly cheered to Impmons praise as she got up with her head spinning still in disorientation quite a bit.

"Great to be back Impmon even though I feel I could drop at any second," she breathed heavily giving the Imp a thumbs up in appreciation of his concern.

Raven wiped the sweat off her brow as violence erupted as Commandramon chased after the bigger Mushroom. Yet as Ji-Su had done for Commandramon the leader of the mushrooms had done for the Big Mushroom. Digging his hands into the dirt mounds the bigger Mushmon stopped his backward movement before countering the CDC Bomb.

"Hakai no Kinoko Bakudan," the brute Mushmon threw his hand behind him as he created a bigger mush bomb throwing it at the DCD bomb as the issuing blast negated each other's attack. Throw the smoke the brute was surpingly agile once more dodging the second round of bullet fire. Jumping through the smoke with another bomb in hand it swatted the rifle barrel away as it slammed the bomb into his opponent's face.

"Hakai no Kinoko Bakudan," it screamed out louder creating a bomb punch and forcing the military lizard back. Yet in the madness of all this as their bigger brother fought the more fight-able lizard the leader Mushmon found his attention drawn to another scene of madness as Raven recovering from her mental upheave watched Arii go ghetto, and catching the full attention of the looming lion as it turned to them as well. These humans were pushing it beyond their comprehension and Firamon had just about enough of following the "keep them alive" rule with their heretic speech they admit they would not stop their sins the two, and with that?

"Time to reel back in Arii," Raven called up walking a bit after them as she was still recovering from her run. Things seemed to go uphill fast as it was made evident that Arii had been triggered to their breaking point. With the knife in hand, it made things more hesitant as grabbing Arii now could potentially earn a fatal wound in their experience... what Raven wouldn't do for a... wait a second. Raven paused patting a part of her leg... so that thing had transferred over with her... well damn.

"So you choose death over cleansing," was the only response it gave not jilted or pulled into Arii's wordy game, but instead very willing to give the human what they wanted, the very essence of its rage not in its words, but it growing flames as it now completely stood up the fire emitting from its body fueled by this foolish humans flaws of understanding of their works... of the goddesses work. The Mushmon leader froze realizing what those words meant as his brother on his left caught up to him.

That was when everything was pulled to Impmon as he chimed loudly, and excitedly to Raven about his masterful plan as he lit one of his fingers. Quite a bit had happened for the short amount of time Raven was gone apparently as the girl watched the mischievous Digimon take aim, and fire following the shot.

"You think that's enough to...," The Mushmon leader was going to dodge right as his brother would dodge left. Even if it was a multishot at this distance it would be easy to get between the openings of the spread... or so it should have. Yet the Leader hit into something as everything slowed down and he realized his other brother who had originally been far out to the right had disorientally followed his voice to him. As the two collided he watched the spray of his brother's slime spread onto him as he turned to see the fireball that would make its mark right onto his oozing brother.

"Oh shi... BOOOOOOOOMMMM," the leader Mushmon, his disoriented, brother, and even his other left-side dodging brother were caught in the massive explosion that ignited upon contact with Impmons Bada Boom. The explosion was instant knocking all the humans off their feet from the blast alone as Wormmon held onto the ground digging all her legs into the earth. Raven felt herself knocked down as she fought scrambling to get back up as only Arii, and Commandramon would have the appropriate distance from the force of the blast to still be standing.

As the dust cleared the dioriented one, and the leader Mushmon appeared rather wrecked by the circumstances that had blown up in their face. Yet through painful groans, and lethargic movement as they tried to regain foot the one who had dodged left was not so lucky. Their wounds had added up, and now the result of it was due. Unlike the other two, this one seemed frozen in time mid-air as distortions appeared all around it before they imploded into a mass wave of data strands that spread out.

The beeping from all digivices triggered as Raven saw the twin satellite app on her digivice react as the data split into nine streams one each siphoning into Raven, Ji-su, Arii's, and even Ruth's digivice in Impmons hands as three shot back towards the path to the fort, and two others up towards the cliff. The three remaining Mushmon froze in horror at the sight of their brother deleted from existence as all that remained was a Digitama egg where he once was, dropped into the earth phasing it out of existence.

"Damn Impmon... that was on purpose right," Raven asked rather shocked by the result of the cocky digimons actual positive result being that effective. Part of her wanted to feel bad about what happened, but another quickly reminded her what they had done to the other two humans.

"Than I shall smite you for your inability to change from the wretched path you have set yourselves. For you are not worthy of the Goddess's times you worms, and you lot? You have failed your tests soured vegetables of The Laity get out of my sight or face the same fate as this one," the lion spoke first to Ji-Su and Arii before moving to the mushrooms as it fixated its gaze on Arii showing no sign of remorse for what had just transpired. It was a test, and they had simply failed that was all. They were no longer worth the veil's efforts, and as the lion never left eye contact with Arii it was clear that is where it would remain as it opened its mouth flames collecting from all over its body front and center near its forehead.

"Oye keep worm out of your mouth," Raven shouted offended for Wormmon causing the lion to roar in a commanding bellow. That's it, it had enough of these impotent humans that they were not worthy of cleansing.

"He was loyal to the cause his sacrifice meant SOMETHING," the bigger Mushmon yelled out enraged by how Firamon treated the death of his brother... this action, however, would turn into a bigger mistake as instead of Arii in a true show of force the lion turned its head to the brute Mushmon with a very well sized collect of a fireball made that made Impmons Bada Boom seem like a kids meal toy in comparison.

"FIRA BOMB," the lion launched the attack right for the brute Mushmon as it first seared through the fearful second Mushmon brother causing them to scream in agonizing pain as the fira ball went through them causing them to become frozen in distorted time like the first one. The blast kept going until making its mark exploding on the Brute Mushmon.

It screamed as it was flung up into the air like a football barely passing over the purple flames as it kept going out into the distance long gone from the fight and the view of those present. Wormmon trembled in fear at the sight of it all, and Raven was left speechless... that thing had just killed one of its own without a shred of feeling, and now it was concentrated on Arii.

The leader of the Mushmon stood frozen as he watched one brother swatted away like a fly, and another now meeting the same fate as another as they imploded into data quickly absorbed into the maw of the lion as it closed its mouth. It had been annoyed, and ready to act out justice, but now it was seething pissed for such unworthy vegetables to leave the plate so stained along with a side of this soon-to-be-expired glass of a human. Its prideful steps matched the ignition of its flames from red to blue in its righteous fury with tone motion it lept for Arii mouth wide open ready to bite off the human head.

Yet the pains of the enamel of teeth upon their neck would never come as instead, Arii would feel a different small pain on the right side of the torso as two metal prongs would jut against their skin. This would be immediately followed by an intense surge in electricity as Raven tackled Arii into the ground using the tazer to tense them up long enough for her to shove their knife arm to the side as both hit the ground with the lion missing its marks over them. Landing with a heavy thud the lion skidded against the ground enraged further at this foolish game of cat, and mouse. They were the Deacons of Cardinal's mission right now and these humans were infuriatingly making them look like fools.

Raven turned to see the lion charge up that same attack from earlier as its flames collected atop its head the stun on Arii would be already gone, but at this range, it would matter that attack would kill them even if they ran. Raven froze for only a second as the creature lurched back its head... her final at already decided as instead of running for her own life she pulled Arii into a side hug trying to shield them with her body.

"FIRA BOMB," the lion launched the attack right at them. In the mix of this madness, the Mushmon leader realized Ji-Su was wide open with no defense. It started creating multiple bombs in preparation if it killed her it could still salvage the situation... if it killed her it wouldn't be the next to die after them. Rushing Ji-Su it yelled its murderous intent echoing the lions.

"POISON S-MUSH," it screamed in fear of what could happen if it did not succeed in killing Ji-Su here and now with a series of its bombs thrown at her.

"RAAAAVVVVEEEENNNNN," Wormmon broke out of her trance of fear as she realized what was about to happen running with everything she had crying tears of fear, and a confused sense of courage she bolted before jumping towards the fireball. Ravens turned to see it screaming out Wormmons' name as she shot her left arm uselessly out to try and catch her bio partner from their equal insanity. She didn't have to suffer the same fate, Raven couldn't accept, nor deny the madness of this action, but... she refused to not protect others as best she could...

A ring of data appeared around Raven's left wrist as her digivice made its voice heard. What followed was a spark of data between the antenna of her digivice, and the data around her wrist reeling into a connection. The Fireball made its mark before exploding with a lot more force than expected as a wave of power took the field. Firamon found himself confused at the sight of a light overtaking his attack as Wormmon's voice rang out as a golden orb sprang to life around her.

WORMMON DIGIVOLVE TO...

A second orb like a wire-framed egg wrapped around her as she glowed green with her outer layer of design dispersed and her wireframe revealed the silhouette of the insect body began to expand out before both it and the wired egg imploded on each other. A new set of colors engulfed the wired egg with crimson red, black, and strangely blonde. The colors would seep into the egg as it expanded back out with a very dangerous claw-like arm ripping out of it and piercing through the golden orb as well with two sharp protrusions on the back of its hand.

WITCHMON... BALULUNA GALE

Witchmon: Digivice Link

A surge of wind tornado'ed off the hand and blasted the lion right in the head lifting him off his front paws as he was forced back further with his back legs trying not to disconnect from the ground. Remember that the purple flames behind him would eat him in seconds he quickly reacted. With everything it had it bellowed a roar igniting its flames to help push back slamming its front feet back into the ground before it made contact with the threat of the wall of flames behind it. Yet upon that halt, it would feel three slicing-like waves of wind cutting it in different places. It looked forward with conflicted rage as that same red hand swiped left shattering the egg of light that had protected it revealing a much more feminine witchy form floating on a broomstick with a wispy black cat atop its hat.

"What is this trickery," Firamon bellowed out in fury having never witnessed a human digivolve a bio partner before.

"Kekeke those who talk a big game best expect to be treated as they treat others. This is exactly what you asked for... your punishment. What's wrong... cat got your tongue," Witchmon seethed with a cackle mocking the lion as its face turned to a more ferocious animalistic like nature.

"Careful I am not the only thorn in your side here," she cryptically warned with a malicious smile as Raven looked at her from behind feeling the emitting strength of Wormmon's champion form yet noticing a difference in personality this was nothing like the timid Wormmon, and had a malicious feel to its nature towards the cat with a mocking nature. It felt strangely familiar... yet in her own melting away fear she turned to Ji-Su shouting.

"LET'S WRECK HIM, AND GET TO THE OTHERS."

Kotemon kept his wooden blade fixated on Tentomon as the two slowly made a half circle of movement however it was what the ladybug digimon countered with that caused Kotemon's footwork to halt in confusion as he blinked before responding with a notable perplexed husky voice, "What?" This was followed by Tentomon's unexpectantly blocking his first attack, and after returning to her upon whooping Bushi Agumon he was met again with her coming right into his second attack he predicted her to use those spikey hands yet instead she took him off guard by using her actual hands in the mix.

As she whacked away the wave of electricity with her own Tentomon closed the gap on Kotemon as her sound effects temporarily spooked him a step back as he was not accustomed to this bizarre behavior. That step cost him as his eyes went wide as she let out a battle cry filled with way too much expression for a warrior. Yet that didn't stop her fist from making its mark as he was delivered a nasty electrical charged uppercut sending his face upward in a tilt as he was forced back halting his movement with his sword as he shook his head.

"FLAMING BAMBOO," his sword was wrapped in flames as he slashed not at Tentomon but at the ground creating a temporary firewall between them as he reevaluated his situation. He had control at the beginning, but now everything had spiraled wildly out of anyone's hands. Worst off from his calculations it appeared his opponent was some sort of... idiot. While at first that seemed like an advantage, topped off with this insect's unpredictability it was now an extreme danger.

However it didn't stop there, his electrical abilities were counter-able by her own removing two of his special moves, and atop that, she could fly thus jumping along with his skill Ryusei-Giri became mute as she would no doubt be better in Aerial Combat. He was forced to rely on his swordsmanship and his minor power over fire. This... was the type of challenge he had been hoping for.

"I see then I shall play the villain to her tale that will strike down her faithful pet," Kotemon spoke accepting his role in Tentomons strange view as the best way to continue this battle. Grabbing the ball end of the ribbon he spun it around as his sword continued to be wreathed by flames.

"HIYA," he shouted loudly going at Tentomon with a swing of the ball at her head as he charged in with a flurry of fire sword swing aiming for her sides in an attempt to keep her from flying. He would chase after her until this duel's end. Halfway through the flurry, he pulled back feinting his next attack as he rammed the blunt end of his blade onto one of her feet sending a few flames around her footing before swinging down for a head bash with his sword expecting her to attempt flying.

Gryzmon growled and attempted to give Tuskmon no quarter in this struggle match the Bear had gotten under the dino avoiding the dangers of Tuskmons infamous horns as the two fought with their muscle the dino opened its mouth repeatedly trying to bite the Bear's head off as the bear was indeed a lot strong than one would expect having given the humans in the area more than enough time to clear out. The problem was it was dangerous to attempt to break off the lock without ending up being the one hit first.

The bear's ears perked up though upon hearing footsteps closing in... who was crazy enough to charge towards this situation? The answer was given in the form of a thrown white jacket the bear began to laugh as the chains of the jacket met their mark right into Tuskmons left eye. The Create spasmed immediately in pain letting go of Gryzmon.

"Crescent Dawn," the blue bear went straight for Tuskmon's unguarded torso slashing with his spikey gloved claw so fast upward that it appeared like a wide crescent moon. Tuskmon was seared with pain but proved more proficient at fighting through it as it swung its massive head left right before swinging back to the left ramming Gryzmon with its side horns sending the bear up into the air and crashing into the ground next to Kimi. The dinosaur roared at them triumphantly before unexpectedly turning away from them as it seemed to fixate on something in the distance. It would only take a quick glance to realize... it was looking at the wall connected to the gate door of the fort.

With a few trotting slashes against the ground, the dino Digimon leaned down as its horns started to slowly charge with energy with one heave of foot it took off charging for it.

"That thing that screeched from early it must only be able to call in a few of them... he must be planning to make an opening for reinforcements,"
Gryzmon guestimated with what little they had to work with given how urgent it seemed willing to leave the fight. "Up you go," Gryzmon gave Kimi a little warning as he scooped her up placing her on his back as he dropped on all for, and proceeded to chase after Tuskmon at an alarming surprising rate for his size.

"We need to strategize if it hits the gate the weight from the metal gate door will cause a massively bigger portion to fall," Gryzmon shouted to Kimi as the dinosaur trampled and threw carts stands and small huts up into the air raining towards them as they gave chase. Out in a distance, a stream of data came flooding into Kimi's digivice directly.

"What's that," Gryzmon asked confused for a moment but focused on catching up to the dinosaur.

Gazimon ducked under pushing his paw upward against the wooden sword user ready to bring the pain onto this Kotemon that was until a rather strange sight appeared in the form of a tipsy Bushi Agumon. Upon nearing the scene charged into a staggering charge much like drunken boxing unable to procure his blade Gazimon watched as the saurian instead opted for a belch-like oddity of decision releasing a Bubble Breath right into Kotemon's face.

Surprisingly it did some damage as Gazimons opponent panicked shacking the bubble mess from their mask as they frantically flailed for a moment. This gave Gazimon a moment to check in on Tentomon who at the moment seemed to be having quite the lockdown with her opponent. Yet at the moment that ribbon using Kotemon's back was to them.

"Alright let's play ball ref face, ELECTRIC STUN BLAST," Gazimon emitted out a paralytic poisonous gas overtaking the already flailing belched on Kotemon causing them to stun lock in place as the small cloud filed into their sense. With a forward leap, Gazimon enacted the second part of his plan.

"GAZIMON CLAW," with a double slash from both of his claws Gazimon sent the rather stacked status effect right into Tentomons opponent causing both Kotemon to stumble away from Tentomon as Gazimon was about to call out some compliments to Tentomon, but instead his eyes went wide as he rushed and tackled Bushi Agumon out of the way as a stampeding Tuskmon caused the ground to shake all around them. As both Saurian and the mammal hit the dirt Gazimon was lucky to see Gryzmon chasing after them with the human girl Kimi riding on his back.

It took Gazimon less than a minute to figure out what was happening as he called out to Tentomon.

" Electric Claw Tentomon catch up with your partner we will handle these chumps," Gazimon shouted as a recovering ribbon-slinging Kotemon scowled at the interrupted running back for Tentomon until halting at the sound of something flying turning to see that Gazimon had in fact thrown the tipsy Bushi Agumon into the air right at him forcing his reflexes to take to a blocking guard.

.....................................................................

"HOW DARE YOU FLAT CHESTED BEASTS," Gladimon erupted into a fit at being compared to such an insignificant insect when he was a guilded, and royal noble knight. He then frothed at the mouth as Mei continued her jabs at his intelligence as she pointed out that Black Gabumon was in fact a lizard wearing a pelt, but that had not been the point of the insult.

Upon his kick swings, Black Gabumon layered out a web of icicles all over the place which the knight mistook for poor aim. When he closed in for the kicks he was instead met with scolding steam from the elemental concoction made by Black Gabumon causing the knight to roll away in unexpecting pain for a moment as with sword still in hand they punched the ground a few times infuriated by the dirty tactics at play.

"Enough of your pungent games WHEEL RUSH," this time, unfortunately, distance was not on Black Gabumons side as the spinning saw blade like pinball made its mark slashing into the reptile's left shoulder as the spinning blade drove back in a wide circle slashing into the black variants right thigh before twisting again near a scaffolding aiming to come back for a third strike.

................................

Above the fight, the Kotemon chased after Mei, and as he chased her after whiffing on his first attack up the scaffolding he gave a pause in step at her words... she wasn't wrong Gladimon was acting out more than the role of deacon offered. He shook that form his mind ready to attack again until Mei layered in an additional fact that his boss's lack of intelligence could indeed be used to turn his decisions into the fault of Kotemon who was ordered instead to strike the human rather than fight the Digimon that he was more suited and ranked to handle.

It was supposed to be the Deacon's job to handle the more important part of the operations, and the Laity the grunts were supposed to handle the busy work. Shouldn't he have been fighting Black Gabumon instead? Kotemon froze as Mei bizarrely fell with odd grace for someone tripping and the princessly scream that followed filled the rookie with awkward guilt. Yet something clicked in accidently...

"You're right... he... HE'S SETTING ME UP SO HE CAN ABUSE THE SYSTEM FOR HIS OWN NEFARIOUS WANTS OF SIN." It seemed Mei had been a lot more successful than one would expected... as this went on out in a distance a stream of data came flooding into Meis digivice directly.

The Shamamon who had lost his club got up annoyed as they were now covered in mud yet he was baffled for a moment as his club was nowhere to be seen. That was until he looked toward the human who now held it the Shamamon had a blank expression for a moment before starting to laugh pointing at Ace as if he was comedic gold as he pulled it towards himself.

"Oh, what you going to do with that little human? Hmmm come on then you got some fight right," it sneered as it stomped its foot next to Ace before kicking him roughly upward onto his feet in what could only be brutal for his damaged leg. Once forced up the rookie laughed as it summoned a bone into its hand looking at him.

"Come on do something, hero boy. If you're not a sinner you're a hero, right? Ahahahaha," he sneer whacking the club in Ace's hands with his bone forcing Ace to take multiple steps to the side with the hammer's weight pulling him. The Shamamon continued to laugh finding this all hilarious as the Doctor halted her movement trying to angle her Digimon to help but with the constant movement, and the fact of how heavy the shell Digimon was she couldn't get a shot in currently.

"Little pathetic broken human unable to do nothing hahaha sounds about right huh? Who can you save? Oh oh where you think you're going boyo," it laughed as Ace caught sight of the beating Cutemon was receiving from his tribal leader.

"Don't worry you'll live, but maybe hold out as long as you can cause once we're done with you in the rabbit the girls next hahaha," Shamamon laughed reared for a true Dancing Bone attack.

The tribal leader Shamamon sneered smiling in delight at his brother's success of prodding and torturing the human. It was the veil's will and unlike the Kotemon, and Mushmon grunts these Shamamon were on a whole other level of all into the belief of punishment. He roughly grabbed Cutemon by the collar forcing him to see what was about to happen to Ace.

"This is what you should be doing to that human you know all their sins. Filthy, little, traitors, protecting the humans. Watch as a real Digimon does its duty to the Veil Goddess," the tribal leader laughed maliciously as his brother was ready to strike Ace.

..................

The Shamamon who had charged for Ruth was met with an energy ball to the face like a sucker punch causing him to spin to the left eating dirt hard onto impact with the ground. As the white/green rabbit made its stance to defend the human a wave of illusive flames started to appear around the area floating about as something slowly came into existence walking around Ruth, and Terriermon in a long stride of an expanding illusive moment. Its fur was purple, its flame gentle yet firm danger of orange hues. It was like a dream drifting into reality as Ace's digivice would be triggered as numerous tails would follow the fox with chimed robe ribbons would appear in full. It's like Terriermon warned she should have started moving.

Youkomon: Digivice Link

"Now who are you child of belief? What are you worshipping to," Youkomon asked with a soft slow whispy feminine voice she continued to walk around the girl almost as if shielding her in a sense, or predatorily keeping her prey in place. The bells matched to the massive prayer robe ribbon around her neck jingling calming sounds as the fox kept its eyes on Ruth and her intriguing crystal.

"Oye that's my trial target," the Shamamon who had been blasted by Terriermon growled loudly. Not at all appeased from being halted in its mission trail it hostile got ready to get back on track. Having been denied by the rabbit into ripping the girl it now added the rabbit into its goal of ripping and tearing. Though as he closed in to get back onto it he was bitch smacked by one of the fiery-tipped purple tails sending him flying into a crash course with a hut making a new window for it.

"Ignore the rambling of the Laity, please answer my question you might be... saveable... upon its answer," Youkomon expressed as Cyclomon glared at the fox, but didn't take any action against her either.

Shamamon was countered thanks to Terriermon. Ruth was astonished as she felt the rabbit take its place on her shoulder. His gaze was serious as if scolding her. It almost reminded her of Impmon. ”You saved me. Why?” She asked, completely ignoring his retort.

Terriermon softens his expression. ”It’s the least I can do for someone who fed me. That in itself is enough for me to stand by your side no questions asked.” A simple reason much like how Ruth wanted to repay the fort for its hospitality and prove her worth. She nearly became teary-eyed. She has a temporary partner. What a relief. The moment was cut short as fire began to surround them. Ruth held the crystal tight as it seemed like the flames formed a circle in the shape of a portal. ”I told ya we should have booked it.”

What came out was a gorgeous nine-tailed fox. Ruth recognized it as Kyubimon based on a Japanese myth. It was one of her favorites too. She simply adored the fox, but wait, something is wrong. This one is purple and its stripped ribbon holding on the bells is a completely different color. They couldn’t possibly be data, could they? By the way, they looked like it’s likely to be a virus. Ruth couldn’t tell without her D-touch. Curse Impmon. She knew she shouldn’t have let him take what belonged to her. The thing was practically her phone in the form of a digivice. Ruth took a step back with uncertainty as Youkomon began stalking around her, corralling her in one place while their eyes remained on her. If they attempted to intimidate the blonde it was working.

They were curious about her beliefs, but what Ruth had in mind as far as religion might not be what Youkomon wanted to hear. When Shamamon got back to his feet and complained, Ruth began to worry about her predicament, unable to move. It was a surprise when Youkomon smacked the digimon away. This suddenly became complicated. Is the fox friend or foe? Her gaze shifts to Cyclomon. They haven’t stepped in after the fox’s smack. Something was wrong. Ruth was gambling her life at the moment. Terriermon was wary, glaring right back at the fox, unwilling to give it a chance to bring harm to his ward.

”I’m watching you furball. One false move and I’ll light you up like barbecue dinner.” He huffed.

Youkomon seemed patient enough but how far will they wait just for the girl to spout something? At least they said please so maybe there is no harm in just answering. Something else that’s throwing Ruth for a loop is being “savable”. She hoped she was. All of her life she played fair and did her job. Why would god punish her? Maybe there was something she was missing and it regarded digimon faith as most likely a different ideology than hers. She took a deep breath and rubbed her crystal for courage. ”I worship nothing. Instead, I pray for hope, a good day, good health, luck for my friends, and protection. A light that can guide me out of my dark abyss and keep me on the straight and narrow path.” Her grip tightened and started shaking. Terriermon listened and felt sorry for the girl. There was more to her than just being kind. There was a deep wound within her that had her grasping onto faith.

Flashbacks of her time alone at home. The way her parents would come home every day with negativity. The shouting, the disappointment, the not good enough time and time again. Ruth had blocked all of it out. No, it didn’t happen. She was just letting her emotions get to her. She shook away her pain and the pinpricks in her eyes, replacing it with a burning desire. ”That’s what I believe in. Being a good person. To have compassion and help people in need even if they don’t need my help.” She extends her hand out with the crystal in her grasp like a microphone. ”If that doesn’t align with your god then get. Out. Of my way because I need to help repay my debt and help my best friend.” A term she hadn’t used or considered towards Ace, but even when far apart, he is the closest to knowing everything about Ruth for a long time. Whether he reciprocated or not is fine, but that is the truth to her.

Terriermon was in awe. Despite what he briefly witnessed it was nothing compared to the girl’s fighting spirit. There was a spark holding on to hope like a vice grip. Her motivation was her friends and the people at the fort. Terriermon had not felt inspired to fight in his life more than what this girl was giving him. His gaze redirected to Youkomon. His ambition steeled onto the fox for any sudden movement.

Ace’s grip tightened around the club as the Shamamon taunted him before forcing him to his feet with a kick to the chest. Pain shot through him like lightning, nearly sending him crumpling to the ground again as he was left gasping for air. His knee buckled dangerously, and for a moment, he thought he was going down for sure but somehow he remained on his feet. The Shamamon taunted him again, knocking the club with his bone. Ace staggered, the weight of the club pulling him to one side, nearly toppling him as he tried to steady himself.

Ace's eyes flicked toward Cutemon and he saw his partner being savagely pummelled by the tribal leader. "Little pathetic broken human unable to do nothing hahaha sounds about right huh? Who can you save?" Ace attempted to make his way towards Cutemon but was stopped by Shamamon. "Oh oh where you think you're going boyo." It jeered, smacking his club with it's bone causing Ace to stumble again. Ace bit his lip so hard he tasted blood. The monster’s words cut deep. He wanted to fight back. But how? His leg was useless and every move sent him reeling.

The Shamamon leader sneered as he forced Cutemon to watch, mockingly forcing the Digimon to see Ace’s helplessness. "This is what you should be doing," The leader laughed, shaking Cutemon by the scruff. "Punishing the humans. They deserve it, every one of them." Ace’s body trembled, his leg screaming in protest as he barely held his ground. The Shamamon leader’s cruel laughter grated on his nerves and that's when he he felt it; a wave of heat, like the air itself was trembling. He looked at Cutemon and could see their eyes narrowing, their small body tensing as the air began to ripple around them. Ace could feel it building, the pressure mounting with each passing second, and he realized what was coming just a second before it hit.

The moment Cutemon opened their mouth, the sound erupted outward in a forceful wave.

This crazy world got all the more so as friendly fire, no, purposeful fire claimed an ally on the fire lion's side of things, the Firamon didn't think much of his Mushmon allies it seemed. Not too surprising all things considered. Though there was that issue, that nagging line the Goddess. And only one figure up till now fit the bill and likely was who brought them here. As a result of this, the Mushmon seemed very eager to kill her, in the name of self-preservation.

Well, too bad for him it was a two-way street. But it did not favor her, there were too few of them, versus too many of them. And two of them were stronger evolutions, weren't they? Shouting out in response to the Firamon's words, Ji-Su counters; "Oh like you killed those previous ones? One who even played along with the game and repented to his death? Keep your salvation, you'll need it where you're going."

It was with acid contempt that she watched the events to come, Commandramon could not finish all of this, no on his own, not with how he was. She wanted to fight this, to end it, to put a stop to it all, to which she was granted resolve and the willpower to end this as Commandramon jumped in the way of the explosive attack.

A beep played from her Digivice as she looked at it, seeing to paths, one was seemingly locked, but one was open.

As the attack started to sprout around Commandramon she would rise the device in a sweeping, swiping motion,

"Go! Champion! Digivolve!" It was then that Commandramon became elongated a blazing white wall of flame took the brunt of the explosives as Ji-Su glared; "SEALSDRAMON!" As the Cyborg formed and its heavy armor took the blasts, Ji-Su was quick to send the assassin into action; "Still with me partner?"
1729712754489.png

"Affirmative. Though an upgrade has happen, leading to the designation Sealsdramon."

Nodding her head at that, Ji-Su's attention was on the brute that tried to do her in. "Sealsdramon, recover, read the enemy weakness with your scouter monoeye the Mushmon attacker!" She said, recalling what she remembered of the D-Brigade Cyborg line, though her digivice would show what commands were acceptable. With that out of the way she called out her next movement, "Sealsdramon! Circle the enemy at speed!"

"Affirmative. Reading Mushmon's biosignature. Weaknesses found and highlighted to combat computer."

With that the Sealsdramon would move at a speed that far surpassed the human eye, almost leaving afterimages as it went round and round, the glint of a large combat knife sparling in the movement wake as Ji-Su spoke out once more, swinging her right arm with a dramatic flair. "Death Behind! End him now before he can strike again!" And like a strike of lightning, Sealsdramon stopped the attack, aiming its knife for the back of Mushmon, aiming between where head and torso connected in the fungal foe.
