“Oh♡….,” Mei said loudly to signal to Black Gabumon that her side was going well and to infuriate Gladimon even more. Being use to putting on personas really paid off in cases like these. The pause because she didn’t even know Kotomon’s name could be played off as her being thankful for his realization. While the element of surprise would be nice with this change of events, Mei doubted it could be pulled off by Kotomon so best to just press the advantage they now had bluntly rather than by trickery. She ignored the data stream since this was not about her digivice; to her it was simply the digital version of shoujo manga bubbles.

“I’m sure the Cardinal needs to hear about this posthaste. They should be as understanding as they are benevolent so there should be no harm in you escaping…I just worry that you’ll miss a chance to stand up for what’s right since it would help restore your honor by smiting that most foul stain on the order. While your allies may come to your aid, I worry his nefarious ways will whisper lies to besmirch you to the cardinal if he is allowed to return. But…,” Mei paused to tack a strand of hair behind her ear before continuing with a tone gentle as the spring breeze,” I wouldn’t dare ask you to put yourself at risk for my sake so let heaviness not grace your heart if you can’t bear to strike him down just knowing you gives me faith that we can overcome this hardship.”

Whether Kotomon took the suggestion to fight on their behalf or to report back it still would remove them from the area. The Digimon landing the final blow to Gladimon would be ideal so both her and Black Gabumon could keep their hands clean of the matter. Mei could still kill the little oven mitt wearing thing of course but everyone deserved at least the smallest chance at redemption. Plus, with how stupid he was the little thing probably just fell into whatever cult was attacking the place. If it was an organized religion there would have been much better ways to take over the town than violence. The opportunity to plant someone on the inside or cause a ripple of strife in the cult could by their group time to escape as well since Mei could see them getting blamed for all of this somehow. If it came down to the truth or peace it was clear what Gabriel would choose.

Now that she had the moral and physical higher ground it was time for Gladimon to realize he was beneath her.

Fucking ouchies am I right? Black Gabumon had little leeway to escape the higher rank Digimon’s attack. Without the steam there was a chance the attacks would have hit worse marks but with damage on both sides of their body they couldn’t favor one of them to pull off a counter attack. Still, the physical pain they felt was nothing compared to that of their memories so Black Gabumon's mind raced on despite it.

While Gladimon was near the scaffolding it would be pointless to launch an attack. There was no way their fire attacks would cause it to catch fire fast enough to effect things nor could they force Gladimon to crash into it to destroy the structure to hopefully get trapped within the rubble.

Upon hearing Mei cry out in hacha~ Black Gabumon proceeded to barrel roll under the nearest scaffolding and start actually crying. The movement revealed that not only had Gladimon stuck their body but also caused bald spot as well. Truly a wretched little thing they were. The poorest of little meow meows.

“Is this the fate of those tossed aside?” Black Gabumon pleaded through their tears. They knew the answer...but also knew Gladimon made a brick look smart so if acting like their partner betrayed them and the tinfoil hat Digimon’s victory was all but assured he most likely would gloat and mansplain of serving their deity. If he continued his attack Black Gabumon trusted Mei had something figured out.

Compared to the swing of Dark Knightmon's lance, her Dark Twister was nothing but a puff of air against the overwhelming force. The hit landed square against the Ancient Sphinxmon's mask, and though it might have been a momentary startle in the best outcome, it was nothing like the hurricane of force that erupted from the guarding Digimon's, halted, swipe.

"Gahh!!!" Immediately there was no control, no way to right herself, all Lopmon could do was get carried right through the air and back slamming into the ground a few feet from the still tightly frozen Róisín.

To Róisín everything else didn't exist or matter. The tendrils of flames held her tight, gripping so much as to make breathing difficult but not with any intention of going the whole way and crushing her outright. No, it wanted to keep her contained, uncomfortable, as the faces swarmed around her with their constant chatting.

"Bab's....please Bab...." Her voice, stance, she spent a long time crafting her outward presence to be that of someone strong, someone not capable of pushing around, that was all gone in this moment. She barely could get out a whisper as she tightly kept her eyes shut, the tears not as heavy as before but still there.

"It's okay, Róisín....it's okay...." The voices quietly coo'ed to her, like that of a comforting parent trying to calm a baby. The faces weren't really faces, more approximate to what one should be, as if someone had modeled the shape out of clay but then never added the details. But to Róisín it didn't matter, it was Bab's, all of them were her and they all were saying the same thing.

"...we'll go together..."

"...no....no, please...I'm sor..."

The world shattered for her. The sound of wind, flames, explosions from the fighting, sounds came flying back to her before the feeling of dirt and rock slammed into her arm as she and Eliam slammed into the ground with a heavy thud.

At the same time, Lopmon gritted her teeth as she pulled herself back up, watching as Salamon jumped into the fray just as their partner tackled Róisín. The wind did nothing, and probably anything she or anyone else had wouldn't make a dent in either of the powerful Digimon, but the anger was still there, the rage, and so she immediately joined in right after Salamon's attack.

"Blazing Ice!"

The bullets of ice splattered more across the ground at Knightmon's feet, the rest breaking into pieces against its armour.

"Blazing Ice!!"

They hit higher this time, more concentrated, but harmless against the Digimon as it stood unmoving.

"BLAZING ICE!!!"

It struck Dark Knightmon's face, it struck Ancient Sphinxmon's face and claws, it was the largest amount of ice the little bunny could unleash, and still it was like snowflakes for the two powerful Digimon as Lopmon all but collapsed to the ground out of breath and drive.

"God dam..." Róisín mumbled with her groan, gently not trying to shove Eliam off her as she pulled herself out of the dirt. Where was she again...? Everything was so new but familiar at the same time. How long was she away...? What was happening...Lopmon...where was Lopmon?!

"Shall we continue the cure to your affliction,"

The voice snapped her full attention forward, her breath got shaky and panicked as she looked straight into Sphinxmon's malicious eyes, Knightmon's stoic stance, and the battered form of Lopmon before her.

That fear was still there. The pain, guilt, how she deserved it...but she didn't want to go back, she wasn't going to let it happen again, and that rage, anger, Passion, rose to the surface like an eruption.

"No...stay away...stay out of my head!!!" She roared ferociously, more feral than human as she shot daggers at the two digimon with such defiance and hatred that she didn't take notice of the swirling data that collected to Eliam and her Digivice, nor the muffled sounds coming from her jacket pocket.

She was weak, barely able to stand, she could just make out the sounds of Roísín standing and roaring but she couldn't focus on what she was saying. Then she felt light, floating like a cloud as she began to burn bright white for all present, a cocoon of multiple layers of colour and data forming around the little form until she was completely gone from sight.

LOPMON DIGIVOLVE TO...

It was her voice, but almost as if automated, no control or meaning, more like a statement or execution of a function. The cocoon began to grow bigger, taking up more and more space and the lights grew more intense.

Then it pulsed....pulsed again....and the same automated voice repeated and repeated as the shell grew massive, the colours grew darker and the pulses got stronger until...

It shattered, and from the cocoon wasn't the same bunny as before. It was hulking in size and muscle, at least 15 or more feet tall even with its hunched back. The arms lay heavy to the sides as it still sort of floated for a moment post hatching, before gravity seemed to return and its short hover above the ground gave way to a crushing of rock as its full weight landed.

It slowly took deep breaths, gently turning to the side to eye up Salamon, Eliam, and of course...

"Row....sheen...."

The voice was deep and gravelly, but underlying it was Lopmon, she was there, this was her. Róisín could only look on in shock at the giant before her, it's whole form completely different from the tiny bunny she held in her arms or on her shoulder. But it was her Lopmon. The long ears were still present, even if it looked like the Digimon had scalped the poor prior form, but the eyes, the kind eyes of Lopmon were still there as they looked at one another.

"Pro...tec..." It calmly, but almost forcibly, said each word as if trying its best to speak...or think clearly...and it became even more obvious as she turned back towards the two Digimon that had caused it's partner pain.

"Pro...Pro..."

Róisín immediately saw it, the fear and rage she had was shoved to the side as she reached out her hand towards the slow trembling, shaking of shoulders, and tightening fists of her Digimon.

"Lop don't...!!!!"

Knightmon's swing was powerful, precise. This force was raging like a storm, strong, and everywhere at once. The ground and trees close by shook from the deafening roar, the air seemed to even warble and shimmer from the sound around the giant. Though the sound began to lessen, the creature tightened its fist and reeled back a swing that would have no normal way of reaching any of the digimon, until it once again shouted...

"CABLE CRUSHER!!"

It was as if a cannon went off, the fist and arm shooting out like a thick steel cabled whip as it swung. They quickly stretched, and with enough force that the trees in its way had no way to survive as it decapitated them and anything in its way one after another with no sign of slowing down, all with the purpose of colliding with the sources of its anger.

There was nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing, only desperate, and angry swirling around in their body like a typhoon as their carefully constructed, delicate web of don't think about it snapped like a taut fishing line.

And they were so, so angry.

People said it was a red haze, but Arii thought that was bullshit, because there was nothing but the anger. The world didn't exist anymore, because they were too angry. It swallowed their mind like a tornado, and they just kept talking, trying to cool the heat in their chest like had worked every time before, and it didn't.

They laughed in the firecat's face, its heat baking their skin uncomfortably, but everything was uncomfortable right now because their ribs were trying to split them in half and their heart was a volcano in their chest. "Fuck you," they barked, and even as it drew closer and singed their hair, they were too angry to be afraid. Because at least, at least if they were dead, it wouldn't feel like their organs were melting in them. "You aren't even going to try, little cat? Try to fix me?" Their grin was manic. A baring of teeth that stretched too far. They breathed too hard, too fast, and their world spotted, but it didn't matter that they were hyperventilating, because they didn't care. "Some grand fucking preacher you are, I've had fifth-graders—"

And then one of the mushrooms was gone.

Just like that.

For a heartbeat, it seemed everything was still. Silent.

Then the bubble in their ears popped, and the first thing out of their mouth was "You WHORE!" which was not what they thought they would have said if they hadn't been missing half of their braincells and the others weren't baking under what was probably an elephant's worth of cortisol. "Glad to know religious freaks are the same in the digiworld as they are in the human world, what? Was he too much trou—"

Something hit them.

Their arm was twisted in the same moment they whipped their head back, mouth open, teeth flashing, and the blade bit into their thumb with sharpened efficiency. Fight, their body howled as hands met skin, and it burned.

They could see skin. Hair. A neck, perfectly within the range of their teeth. They could just feel the crackle of electricity in their veins, not yet reaching their most important muscles.

But they could also see the desperate, fight-me-me-me, look at me, loud! Loud!

Their teeth closed on the hood of their own jacket, and they braced as fierce pain rocketed up their spine, locking the major muscles on one side until they couldn't feel them anymore. They twitched once, a spasm, really.

Loud, loud! Fight me-me-me-me, Green all-but shouted from beside them, and Arii found themself tangled in horrible, cloying arms even as they stared, unabashedly, blankly, at Raven, who looked so much like an echo of their siblings in the set of her shoulders and the way one of her hands curled in the nape of their jacket, stay stay stay, be still.

Huh.

And then the worm turned into a person.

A person with some teeth. And Raven was yelling, but Arii wasn't particularly paying attention, because among all the chaos, in the distance, just within range of the only one of their eyes that could see worth a damn, a tree went flying. Like. The whole tree.

Huh.

They huffed a soft, odd noise, like a dying gurgle, and found that the fire in their throat had cooled. Their chest still hurt like they'd been run over by the neighbor's dirtbike, but it didn't burn, and sear, and scorch.

With the cat otherwise engaged, they licked the blood off their fingers and tucked their blade into its sheath—not before wiping it off, first, of course—and stood.

They immediately stubbed their toe, and squawked, glaring at the offending object.

A blood-spotted rock sat by their foot. Probably the same one they'd cracked their head on. They nudged it with their foot. It wasn't rooted into the ground very well. With not even half a thought in their exhausted brain, their adrenaline already fading with the dregs of the last of their emotions, they crouched, picked up the rock...

and hurled it directly at the firecat.

That done, they turned and held out a jacket-covered hand to the still-kneeling Raven. Something like a peace offering, they thought. "That was stupid," they said, and their voice was back to monotone. They cocked their head. "You're lucky you have a good partner, Raven. We could have both died." There was something else in there. A tone that Arii couldn't quite hide with their unsteady (they were still shaking, rocking like they couldn't quite understand which direction was which) control of themself (though it was fading quickly. It must not have done too much damage).

It wasn't a thank you. It wasn't a sorry, because Arii wasn't sure they felt either of those things. To some extent, it might have been better if they'd gotten incinerated so the merry band of morons would stop trying to protect them all the damn time and leave their own backs exposed.

But they thought Raven could have her own name back.

Because they thought they might understand. Just a little bit. The kind of understanding borne of snarling at a coyote, a flock hidden behind them. The kind of understanding borne of their sister snagging them by the back of the jacket and them going limp on muscle memory because something was wrong.

Her punch landed with a satisfying thud, sending Kotemon skidding. Using his sword as an anchor, he quickly disappeared behind a wall of fire. Tentoman placed her hands on her hips, a traditional pose for a superhero, however her left claw lay flat against her side. Caught up in her fantasy, she tested her powers and taking a deep breath she 'blew' away Kotemon's finite firewall. Her little hands shook with unhideable glee. What other powers did she have? "I'm her sidekick!" she retorted "Tentoman!"

Kotemon's cry was a warning for Tentoman, the little ladybug squatting down just in time to avoid the iron ball, only to be quickly pressed by a flurry of bamboo blows. Pulling her arms close to her shell like a boxer, Tentomon did her best to weather the blows, wincing as the blows landed on her left. But after a moment it was over. "Is that it?" Tentoman laughed almost mockingly.

Tentoman took the opening as it was, only to fall for the feint of her opponent, her foot smashed and set alight. "Hachacha!" she squealed, hopping around on one foot.

Pitching to her right, she hopped, hopped and then crashed into Kotemon, his sword raised into the air for a final attack as she luckily countered with an impromptu 'Stumbling Attack.' Body bashed away, Kotemon was slammed into by his duelling double. Tentomon spun her head towards Gazimon and nodded. "I'm on it!" she said.

Putting her hands on her hips, she raised one claw, before quickly switching to the other and took to the sky after Gryzmon and her partner.

Thrown by Gazimon into the air, Bushi-Agumon rammed into Kotemon, his head making direct contact with Kotemon’s helmet in a dazed headbutt.

“Urk—hic!” Bushi-Agumon burped loudly, the sheer immensity of his 'Bubble Breath' attack sending the variant flying backwards. Bushi-Agumon hit the ground with a wobble, swaying as he stood up, one claw gripping his katana’s handle. He yanked the sword free, waving it around like an oversized toy, eyes bleary but filled with a strange mixture of determination and confusion.

Sword aloft, he circled Kotemon, his footsteps uneven yet strangely menacing. Giggling from time to time, he stared down his opponent, steel hiding behind the glaze. Clawed fingers remembered every groove and notch on the hilt. Years of practice bled into every muscle of his arm and twitched in anticipation. The body would do what the mind could not and fight. A step forward would be met with Choukousoku Ichimonjigiri, a super high speed horizontal slash. A defensive approach, Chouteisoku Ichimonjigiri, his super low speed attack. Stay or fight, B-A's body would act and swords would clash.....

Meanwhile, Kimi held on tight to Gryzmon’s back, her mind racing for a plan. Carts and ramshackle huts flew left and right making it hard for Kimi to look up but when she did she could see the charging Tuskmon, whose horns were pulsing with a dangerous energy.

Asked for ideas she considered the possibility of using the wall and Tuskmon’s own charge to take him down, her friend redirecting the momentum back on top of the Cretaceous era charger . But there were risks—if Gryzmon leapt over Tuskmon to bring the wall down on top of him, there’d be a massive risk of misjudging the distance or, worse, causing even more collateral damage. And was it even possible? She voiced her idea to the Champion all the same. Perhaps throw the errant objects back at him. But what of the poor people and Digimon who owned them?

The 'Cool Girl' percolated, as another cart shot over head. A data stream distracted Kimi for a moment, as well as Gryzmon. She glanced at her digivice, seeing a soft glow and a notification from her twin 'towers' app. A crash from behind signalled another lobbed object, bigger this time. She turned from her digivice and leaned forward to Gryzmon “Can we intercept him before he reaches the gate?! Do you know any shortcut's around the town we can use?”

At that moment, Tentomon darted down from above, now wearing Kimi’s white jacket, the oversized thing looking like a makeshift superhero cape on the red rookie. "We need to get off this street. Once we're off the street maybe then he'll stop throwing things around? Become less agitated?"

"Tentomon! Can you follow Tuskmon from above? Keep him in sight but stay high enough so we can see you?"

“I’ll keep an eye on him from above, Cool Kimi!” she declared, saluting with a bold grin. Bruised and battered the little ladybug seemed unsuitably chipper...

Kimi's brow furrowed. Above?

She looked at the buildings around them. Maybe they could get them ahead and out of sight of Tuskmon....

Youkomon continued circling Ruth as the human girl contemplated something of an answer. The fox only chuckled, humored by the white rabbit's puffed-up intent of a challenge as the girl rubbed her crystal. The Digimon could tell the answer had been decided, and she listened to what Ruth had to say while her tails swayed like seaweed in the ocean waves. Worship of things to come, over something undefinable, goodwill unto others, will of the protection of oneself in that act, and above else, a guiding voice in the dark. The straight and narrow path? Again, Youokomon did one last circle around the girl, this time spiraling closer and closer until she halted right behind Ruth, her vulpine face now dangerously close to Ruth's, with one bite being all it took to end her.

Ruth's true boldness stood out, and she caught the fox with some surprise as she tilted her head with a raised eyebrow. If anything, this Youkomon was a patient listener, at least as the girl's memories played out like a film to the purple fox on the innocent human's face as she gushed out her heart in firm belief. However, the fox got an excellent legit laugh out at "your god" from the girl's lips. The Vulpine's maw opened wide, with teeth flashing in the sunlight as she whispered something to Ruth.

"Then, by all means, be ready to prove all that," she smiled with unknown amused content before moving her eyes from Ruth to Cyclomon and then the satellite behind him that was originally set up by the Shamamon and caused this chaos. As they did, her tails aflame and started to make circles, forming into a flash image of a satellite dish.

"It's funny, isn't it? All that raw strength, and yet that brute hasn't moved nary a step, almost glued to the spot? I wonder what would happen if someone did something to that little rod of a satellite dish. However, they would need to go through that brute to accomplish that. Dare to back your words, child, and we just might meet again," Youkomon spoke as her face pulled away from Ruth's vision as her tails dispersed, creating the image of the Satellite being vanquished. If Ruth were to turn around, she would find that Youkomon had vanished into thin air.
........................................

The grunt Shamamon reveled in the pain it delivered to Ace. Every ache, twitch, and spasm of pain across his face fed into the rookie's malice as the human willingness to take it only made the goblin want to break him more. His leader in sync was also basked in the glory of their cause at work. Cutemon squirmed in his grip as the human tried to save his partner.

However, what both Shamamon failed to realize? Was how close enough, Ace had edged the grunt Shamamon... into Cutemons attack range. The leading Shamamon would feel the heat around his hands, confused only for a moment before it was too late. Someone unaccustomed to a shotgun felt the whole reverb of Cutemon blast through his hand, sending him backward, forcing him to painfully let Cutemons face go as his hand got the kickback from the kinetic attack.

Hitting the ground hard, the lead Shamamon watched as his loyal brother turned around to see what the commission was, only to receive a power blast all over, sending the bone holder pushing the barbaric rookie away from Ace but not taking him off his footing. The Shamamon grunted teeth gritted as his whole body vibrated from the damage forcing him to take a few steps in any direction as it slammed its hand against its head trying to get the echoing to stop. Cyclomon's attention was averted from Ruth as he watched The Laity members have their thunder stolen; however, before the brute could intervene, the leading Shamamon leader called out.

"We have this brother, I promise. We are more than capable," the tribal leader of the goblins decreed, infuriated by his own mistake and mishandling of the situation like a child with a toy. It got up with the club in hand deadlocked on Cutemon and Ace, who were in front of it. The human and Bio partner were now between the two recovering Shamamon, with the one who had assaulted each still nearest to the target originally set.

However, this was not a positive case as a recovering Shamamon who had been tail slapped away from Ruth recovered as well, and not wanting to repeat what had happened, was more than willing to return to his brothers against Ace/Cutemon. Now trapped in a triangle formation by the three brothers, Shamamon. The leader grew a cocky grin that little pink bunny had caught them off guard in tandem with the boy, but that was naught above a desperate struggle. They had them, and they would defeat them before starting the trial to purge the sin from the human boy.

"Shama Stri..."

"Water Strike."

Just as the newly returned Shamamon went to pitch a fireball for Ace's face, the whole field was reminded that another player was still on the field. Doctor Tanaka hadn't stopped trying to get a shot in to help, carrying her Digimon the whole time. Before that batting swing could make its mark on the fireball, a water blast hit the back of the swinging Shamamon, causing them to yelp in pain as they instead sent their fireball right at the feet of the goblin who had been attacking Ace. The dirt spray blinded the Shamamon, who dropped their bone in the panic.

"I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU INTERLOPERS, MAD TWIST," the leader Shamamon spoke, enraged further as he pointed his club at her, sending a stream of purple energy rings that hit Syakomon head on, sending both Doctor and Mollusk flying in a painful scream. They were sent flying, crashing into their medical hut out of sight. His frustrations peaked as he pulled out a bone, spinning it and the club in his other hand, charging wildly for Cutemon.

"AND YOU CAN DIE TRAITOR," the leader of the Shamamon howled as he leaped for Cutemon with bone and club.

Objective:
Stop Tuskmon From Destroying the Fort Gate

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Gladimon chased after Black Gabumon, still mid-Wheel Rush, his blades sliced up the ground in his pursuit of the black-pelted lizard. Luckily for the variant, it dodged underneath a scaffold just in time to miss getting slashed again by Gladimon, forcing him to wheel around coming back in for a victorious strike. Until the honorable death to come was muddled by a crocodile-filled cry fest enraging the knight pinball. This proceeded to drive the Knight into madness as this damn thing couldn't even die honorable indeed, a sin of how sinful the woman it was latched to was.

Yet unlike the buildings that were purposely made light and tear downable as needed for the fort's life, the scaffoldings were not. As soon as Gladimon's blade hit the much more extraordinarily held-together and thick beams, there would be a pause of awkwardness as Gladimon hung a bit above Black Gabumon. Both rapiers dug about a third into the wood until becoming stuck into it as the pinball held tightly to them, unwilling to let them go as he struggled with his feet dangling above the ground.

"How... how... DARE YOU, COWARD!" Gladimon screamed into a hissy fit, expressing the extreme embarrassment of the situation and the extremely deadly edge they had currently sheathed.

"Such blatant disrespect for the field of battle. Such... such DISEASED INABILITY TO FIGHT HEAD ON. AND FOR IT? I AM STRUCK UPON MY PRIDE HAVING GAVE YOU FAIR GROUNDS TO DIE WITH DIGINITY," Gladimon continued to spout its uncouth temperament. As it looked for an advantage out of this unexpected turn of events, it found its eyes locked onto Mei and his Laity errant Kotomon a few scaffolds away... talking...

"WHAT MANNER OF MEANING IS THIS STRIKE HER UNCONSCIOUS AND HELP ME WITH THIS BLANK MARBELLED TRASH," Gladimon called out to his ally. The Kotomon turned to Mei, who would talk about how she thought of his situation. The Kotemon turned from Mei and Gladimon, the pressures of situational decision-making taking its time to brew in the copper kendo mask it wore. Though some of Mei's assumptions were a bit bold and pushing, Kotemon saw the meaning of her words. Even if it sided with Gladimon, given the nature shown and the actions taken... anything that involved Gladimon living moving forward was starting to appear like a death sentence.

For the Digimon currently dangling, who at best would have put in a minor punishment on such behavior, witnessed unaware of the madness Mei had whispered into his underling's ears, further frustrations caused him to wiggle wildly as one of his blades started to loosen from the wood, it was embedded in. Yet, as the kotemon came to an almost formed decision, the last coo from Mei made an unexpected change to where it could have gone.

"No. You know what, both of you suck," Gladimon halted in its struggles as the Kotemon lashed out, pointing an accusing finger at Mei. "You're just as bad as that bright light of a devil-in-disguise songstress who made such a big deal of this all."

"HOW DARE YOU INSULT THE POPE GRACE WITH YOUR UNEARNED TONGUE," Gladimon yelled in genuine frustration.

"No, you know how I see it? You're just both assholes after what you want triggering to get us lower class fools to eat out of your BLEGH....," The Kotemon, who was about to leave while still holding onto a shouting match with was impaled by the pulled-out blade that Gladimon had finally freed and thrown piercing through the rookie's body. The Digimon took a few steps back, turning to Mei before falling off the Scaffold with its hands around the blade impeded into its body. A good resounding thud followed, but if one were to look over the edge of the scaffolding, one would see that the Kotemon had surprisingly survived and was in quite a bit of pain.

"Such a silver tongue that only a devil would own turning one against the light. You are beyond saving.... forget you lizard, for when she dies, you share her fate," Gladimons voice was different. The rage had changed into pure concentration calm as it finally got its foot against a wooden panel and started to pull out its still stuck blade... that it intended to pierce Mei with. It had enough of this folly. Its pride had been hampered, its dignity spat in, its respect mushed, and now it had to dirty its own hands with human upon its blade. This girl would be taught a lesson to die for.

"YOU WILL KNOW MY NAME, FOR IT WILL BE THE ONE YOU GIVE TO THE GATEKEEPER IN HELL. " With that, the grumpy knight came full circle as the blade started to loosen from the wood.

...................................................................

The unique Kotemon watched as his worthy quarry ran, and his unwillingness to let her escape bubbled in his arms for battle. Yet as Bushi Agumon made his presence known, Kotemon was forced to counterblock as Bushi Agumon released a more legit Bubble Breath, forcing the guarding Digimon back. Yet as the Digimon flew in a rather cruel turn, the Unique Kotemon grabbed the regular Kotemon, forcing him in front to take on the headbutt before throwing him to the side.

Scowling as his wanted target was flying off, the unique Kotemon kept its eyes on Bushi Agumon, sensing someone worthy of the blade they carried and not to be ignored at this close range. Watching as the Saurian circled him, the wooden blade user took a stance, waiting for the moment when the rookie dino stepped forward.

"THUNDER KOTE," the two blades fused attacks met, sparking a clash of thunder as the counter collision forced both Digimon back. Yet that's precisely what the unique Kotemon wanted, and Gazimon quickly caught onto it as he slid toward the direction Tentomon had left.

"No, you don't. GAZIMON CLAW," With all his energy, Gazimon lunged at the unique Kotemon, who threw out his ball and chained-style veil ribbon, catching the edge of a building as he swung, barely dodging the mammal virus as he went after Tentomon rather impressively grappling, hooking out of site. As Gazimon growled, getting off the ground, he and Bushi Agumon would find the original Kotemon they were fighting and block them as more circled them.

"Grrrrr, let's help who we can. The boss and those hero chicks should have it handled," Gazimon hissed as he took them on with the saurian blade student.

........................................................

Gryzmon kept up the charge, weaving through the debris as they started to close some of the gap between them and the charging dinosaur. The bear's ears perked up as Kimi explained her two thoughts. Leaping was an option, but distance was an issue. However, the game of tossback was a manageable risk.

"Hold on," Gryzmon grunted as he shot up on his hind legs, grabbing a cart that had come barreling to them. He spun with it in his paws before a strong man shot, putting it right back into the air. They immediately lost half of the distance they had gained, but a solid result came from it. As the green-skinned Digimon kept charging, fixated on the gate, its fixation turned against it, and the wooden cart hit its back, and Gryzmon tossed. Tuskmon bent awkwardly, running to the left side as it bowed in and out in movement, obliterating a hut as it tipped back towards its course.

"We might not have a choice but to get more destructive. It's better they are alive and have a few reconstruction projects than to be dead. No, we can't risk the fort walls. That would be it, winning. It wants to bring the gate down to bring down the wall... any opening is a win to them," Gryzmon growled as it almost seemed like they had halted the mon to fight them, but it was one mission it would not stray from.

Upon Kimi's next suggestion, though, his brain scanned through what he could remember from traversing the fort today and where they were. With Tentomon arriving with Kimi's coat, the bug shouts out some thoughts on the behavior... in truth, Tuskmon was just throwing whatever got in its way. Still, if they did vanish, it might get more fixated on its target, giving them a bigger chance to rattle it into a confrontation. Kimi gave her partner some commands as Gryzmon started to pick up the pace before shifting left behind a building.

"This place is designed for adjustment: wood and rope structuring. Tentomon, see if you can cut off any building bits to impede or topple it. We can push him into a confrontation if we completely halt even once. If not, we'll have to get extreme and block him," Gryzmon suggested to Tentomon. Being a flyer, she had many more options in what she could do to Tuskmons route. Gryzmon started to do a wide half-circle of movement, jumping onto a small building's roof. He moved onto the rooftop, hopping, giving Kimi quite the rodeo ride.

In the middle of the path were quite a few options: a bell tower, a log pole reserve bin, and even an electrical power box. Near the end, things got only more sparse, but notably, a rather massive pile of fertilizer was kept near the wall, along with a massive mud hole being used to create said fertilizer.

"Of course. Though it's obvious it's always nice to get some notoriety," Witchmon cackled in affirmation to Impmons cheers, keeping an eye on the lion waiting for it to decide its next move as Ji-Su yelled some validity to the fire cat who growled at the human woman.

"Hold your tongue, sinner. You'll burn soon enough..." The lion kept its poker face as the Mushmon leader rushed the human. That one did indeed still have some use, it seemed.

The leader of the Mushmon smiled as his bombs neared Ji-Su, he could save his life with this one move no doubt Firamon could forgive the lead-up if he took out this one human. Yet that smile faded as quickly as Impmon blocked the lower flung bombs and Commandramon the higher flung bombs. The two rookies together were able to negate Mushmons last chance, and all it could do was stand there shocked. These weren't the standard types of humans/Bio Digimon it was used to, especially in the Forest Region. However, when Impmon spoke, the actual cracks started to show.

"You can't understand. You've never stepped outside the Forest Biome, I bet; you don't know what monsters these human beings are. Even though you know their every thought... they are monsters, and if they are not punished... were the ones that end up being devoured," the leader of the Mushmon spoke nearly cryptically in its words, meaning in a sound of defeat accepting what was to come next as a second wave of energy pulsed and something very dangerous appeared behind it. Mushmon wouldn't even attempt to look away from Impmon as Sealsdramon's blade pierced its back with a critical hit, causing the final mushroom to explode out of existence into a wave of energy.

"Damn...," was all Raven was able to mutter as Sealsdramon expertly capped the Mushmon leader out of existence as more digital code flooded into her digivice. The reality of the fact they were now the enders of two Digimon's live hits, but the reality of it was the kicker. It was a two-way street here, just as Ji-Su saw it. It was either them or the enemy, and Raven had to accept that. Yet Raven was hit by a wave of familiarity with the words Witchmon spoke... it rattled a memory of her... from when she was younger... but the thoughts broke as a massive explosion could be heard off in the distance for a split second. Raven could see a tree flying off above into the distance... that had come from the cliff... Eliam and Roisin were also in trouble.

Firamon growled further in frustration as useless broken tools surrounded it. These sinners had pushed back way harder than they should have been capable of, and now it was pinned between two newly formed champions.

"You disgusting lot, you dare try to challenge the king of the flames. How dare you act so saintly when you're just as cutthroat," it seethed, enraged by the damning return of logic Ji-Su had tried to label it with.

"And why should we be punished for something out of our control? It sounds like you're just a sour loser kekeke," Witchmon taunted, infuriating the lion further as she moved to a perfect point to have herself and Sealsdramon at the projected route of each of the lion's sides. Yet that sentence froze Raven... it was that memory. It was like Witchmon was the personification of a moment in Raven's life, and that led to many more complicated thoughts, quickly becoming to the point that she hadn't even noticed what Arii was doing bizarrely around her.

Though as Arii was there, the rock Witchmons hand extended out, catching it.

"No offense, but let us handle this bit if you don't mind," Witchmon cackled, not turning to Arii, but she wouldn't need to for them to see the shark tooth grin they bore. While their words were hostile, there was a strange undertone of protection and safeguarding. Witchmon didn't want the lion's attention to leave her or Sealsdramon.

This was when Raven broke out of her trance as a jacket-covered hand reached down to her... Arii was attempting direct interaction with her... with a kind gesture... well damn, they were in hell. Once Raven collected her thoughts, she grabbed Arii's elbow as they pulled her up, quickly reminding her of their stupidity.

"Well, I was following someone in a suit, to be fair," Raven joked back as Arii cocked their head to her, giving praise to Wormmon, which surprised Raven even further into a genuine smile.

"Ya, they were following someone in a suit, too. Fools come in pairs, don't you know," Raven laughed, giving Arii a peace sign as an understanding to the peep wasn't exactly complimenting or thanking Raven or Wormmon for their actions.

"Yet you're alive, and so are we, so I call that a double win. GIVE EM HELL WITCHMON, SEALSDRAMON," Raven yelled to rally her allies. Causing Witchmon to raise a hand to her lips in a cackling taunt.

"You already know," the Witchmon snickered, flying at Firamon, who, in an unexpected reaction, went gunning towards Sealdramon, Impmon, and Ji-Su. Flames started to collect on his claws as the lion darted straight for the more significant threat in its eyes. Monoeye was more troublesome to it than the Witchmon's firepower.

"FIRA CLAW," the entirety of Firamons front legs were engulfed in flames as it collided with the cyborg Digimon with fire, pushing the Digimon back with its more natural strength, aiming to melt the metal Digimon in the rising flames. Witchmon, however, caught up relatively fast above raising a hand as the moisture in the air started to collect.

"Aquary Pressure," Witchmon chanted as what could only be described as a laser beam of pure water pierced Firamon's hind leg, giving the Cyborg Digimon the advantage in the tussle. Steam shot off from the lion's hind leg from the impact point, and Witchmon held an evil grin of satisfaction.

They huffed at the order from Witchmon (?), eyes grazing over the blood-splattered stone. Benched. Of course.

What they wouldn't give for a hunting rifle.

Their train of thought immediately disintegrated because something was touching them—oh. For half a heartbeat after Raven grabbed their offered arm, Arii just. Stared at her, face concerningly blank. Then they breathed again, and, with a stiffening of their whole form, hauled Raven to her feet using more of their weight than their muscle. Even dizzy, the movement was smooth and quick, like they'd done it a hundred times.

Raven was talking, but a persistent ringing had taken up residence in their skull, and their eyes weren't focusing, and oh couldn't the adrenaline crash wait for like... ten damn minutes? No? Bastard.

They blinked lopsidedly. Mostly on purpose. In part because they thought they'd collapse if they moved more than two muscles at a time. Their head stayed tilted at what was almost a forty-five degree angle before they seemed to remember to correct it. Their nose wrinkled, and the tips of their teeth showed from under their lips, but it didn't... seem to be a glare, something about their posture loose. "Are you a lemming?" they asked, squinting at Raven. Their tone tilted up just the slightest at the very end, and—

Was that a joke?

And then Raven was yelling and the ringing in their ears exploded and fuccccck. Pain crawled up their skull, and they hissed before they could stop themself, a throaty, annoyed sound. Today was just not their day.

Nothing else to do, they took stock.

Witchmon seemed entirely independent, not even looking to Raven for orders in the slightest. Impmon—well, it wasn't like they knew any of his abilities, and he was stuck with a temporary partner who had no fucking clue how to use his skills—was in the same boat, but Sealsdramon...

Skies above it was like he couldn't move unless Twelve yelled something first. This, Arii thought, this is why hunters never liked military brats. Too focused on doing things their way even if they were objectively worse at doing things. Were it not for the overwhelming power, they'd bet a smart digimon could evade most of those attacks just from knowing what was coming.

Stupid.

Not that their hunting skills had been much use as of late. No, that'd require the batshit world to adhere to standard logic. Hm...

If logic did apply, though...

These guys didn't like humans all that much. From the maps, they'd been circling the settlement. The settlement with walls and defenses. The settlement that was built like a barrel with fish in it. Hm. Well, that wasn't good.

With Impmon trapped and no way to digivolve, the last member of the troupe second-level...

They broke away from Raven, slinking carefully around the group—keeping Witchmon between them and fire-cat-bastard—until they could stop around an arm's length behind Impmon. They barely left footprints in the grass. Certainly didn't make much noise. Even concussed, it seemd they could still simply erase their presence.

Well, at least until they opened their mouth. "Impmon," they mumbled, staring at the purple flames. "Chances are, this is a dual-sided attack. They're probably back at the settlement." They hesitated, rechecking the combat before them. "I... can't digivolve you. I'm not a proper partner for you. There's enough noise you should go unnoticed. If you can find an opening, run. Go back to the settlement. If they're not under attack already, warn them. Chances are, Ruth is going to need you."

Having listened to the final words of the Mushmon, Ji-Su was partially curious while Sealsdramon focused on the battle about him, both had their own thoughts on these words, but only Ji-Su spoke in the brief aftermath, almost akin to a whisper.

"And yet you were the one to attack us." Humans as the real monsters wasn't a surprising take or even fact, it could even be true, nor did Ji-Su know about those outside of the woods, but at the end of the day human hands made them. And yet it was them or their friends who were eating and killing people. The hypocrisy of the righteous was truly awe inspiring. Still, as the data ran into her digivice and seemingly that of the others, she didn't much care. Her focus was solving the mystery of this place and if able, to escape.

For his part Sealsdramon's cold metalic frame was akin to the Terminator, this flame was not enough, though the Witchmon was being more than helpful as the cyborg was able to press in against his bestial kin.

"Scouter Monoeye." He said with a mechanical filter to his voice as air circulated out of his gasmask, the read beam shines, sweeping up and down as the Digimon kept his bipedal foe in place.

"Weakness discovered. Ventilating excess heat. Purging."
With that a wave of steam seemed to release from the body in several places as a result of the flames, before his tail would swing around, aiming the razor tipped extension at Firamon's left side, pushing him back with his superior bipedal form in this game of grappling.

"Keep it up Sealsdramon! Force him onto the back leg before that fire can form back up, break his balance, then follow up with that fancy blade work!"

"Affirmative. I will break him." The Cyborg said in icy reply as Witchmon's attack made his following action all the more easy. Shoving the Lion back and over onto his side, Sealsdramon would not attempt Death Behind just yet. The Firamon was far too dangerous to Ji-Su to move out of the way just yet as he aimed his spikey left foot for the fire digimon's center of mass, those spikes weren't just for show, readying his right arm to stab downwards the dinosaur cybernetic lifeform would balance via add for his tail and start his decent with the blade aimed for Firamon's skill.

It was all enough to make Ji-Su break out in song to taunt the lion, but that could wait.

She was out of it. Eliam sighed as he rolled off her and sat up, leaning a little. He would have asked her if she was okay, but it seemed the Digimon in front of them had more to say. He sighed as he turned to them. Salamon’s attack did nothing. But he didn’t need them to. The way that these Digimon spoke, they thought they were untouchable. By all means, they were as naive as his father, something he hated in any personality.

His sin was the hatred of who he was becoming and from what he could tell, the fact that he understood that much, made it harder for these Digimon to figure out how to trigger it. But as he thought of this, the Digimon wanted to return Róisín into its control. Salamon moved towards him, as Eliam started to get up.

The plan was simple and had managed to get done correctly, even if it was just a chance. “Now what Ario?” Salamon asked. She looked up and Eliam was looking away. When she turned to see what he was looking at, she noticed that the star-like daggers looked similar to the one they found. Curious, she was going to move closer but stopped at the roar of Róisín voice. She jumped as she turned to her and Eliam looked at Róisín as well.

Digivolove! Eliam thought, as he heard the digivice go off, Róisín voice cutting his thoughts, and moments later Lopmon was changing. As he took his digivice out and looked at the screen. It had downloaded information, showing that it was available now. He looked at the the large new Digimon, and before he could think of anything it attacked. Lopmon was in a rage when he changed and his new form was acting on that.

Salamon was about to move when Eliam placed his foot to stop her from trying to help. She looked up at him and he shook his head. It was too dangerous for Salamon to go help, there was no telling if the new Digimon was in the right mindset, when Róisín had already called to her, it didn’t stop her. Salamon understood what Eliam was doing and before she could think of what to do next, she watched Eliam going to the shurikens that he had ignored, collecting them up when he reached them.

Eliam was not going to be able to help anyone, not in his current state, he was not a Digimon and if Róisín got trapped again, he was sure that he didn’t have to tackle her, in him too many more times, before he would break skin. His clothes were the only ones he had, and he planned to leave here with them. He couldn’t take the chance that he needed to get blood out of them. So when he noticed the shurikens he thought of how much they looked like the one he had found. But now, he thought of how useful they could be, even if he was blinded by where they came from. He guessed that being hyper-focused on helping Róisín was the reason that he hadn’t noticed them before or maybe they had been thrown at him. Either way, they were part of how he was going to protect Salamon and himself, especially if the ally that Róisín digivoloved no longer was an ally.

This may be a serious situation but it was almost laughable how Gladimon seemed to dance to their tune. A whole orchestra of orchestration. Black Gabumon took the moment their ploy allowed to gather their energy. The defunct disco ball just hung above the ground ranting and raving but remaining an easy target while he tried to get his blades loose. He sure liked to shout a bunch of nonsense. Was this elder abuse? Surely the level of second hand-cringe Black Gabumon felt from witnessing this behavior must count. Had Gladimon never heard the expression its better to be a coward than a fool? It was expected his blades would dull to resemble his wit with how Gladimon was mistreating them so it was just a matter of how to proceed.

Burning the blades could make him drop them but the flames could also make cutting through the wood as easy as cutting through butter so it would be best to consider the options. Mei seemed to have things handled on her end given how everyone was shouting.

Not that it mattered since Gladimon pulled out one of the blades and flung it at his ally. A shame Kotemon didn’t die from that but retrieving one of their blades would allow Mei to finish things. Cutting with words was her specialty so while the sword wasn’t mightier than the pen it would have to do. Gladimon said so much nonsense Black Gabumon just chose the easiest one to poke at since pointing out all digimon of a species were called by the same name made his request as foolish as he was could be saved for later.

“Fair? How could this fight be fair? Unlike you what I have faith in has faith in me as well,” Black Gabumon said addressing the undignified Digimon. Even the next attack failed the odds favored Gladimon eating the blow or let go of the sword. Their horn glowed and lengthened below him having gathered enough energy.

“Little horn,” Black Gabumon said slashing upwards launching their attack and hopefully Gladimon as well. At least physically he could go up towards heaven.

You know the town was in dire straits when not even the nosiest of villagers did not investigate the mad ramble that was being shouted. Mei suspected the order sent him just to have him and his outdoor only voice go away. Their number one prayer must have been for peace and quiet.

Unfortunately, it seemed that conflict resolution from talking held as much weight here as it did in the real world.

Mei gave a look as Kotemon lashed out. A simple quick look of pity because if the little sport thought she was as bad someone who stuck him with a boss who was short a few marbles despite the fact he was shaped like one so not only was he dumb he was unwise the poor thing. She didn’t regret the turn of events since she didn’t say anything wrong. Not only that, she had gained more information than she thought she would from her enemies. Mei simply tried to give him a chance but before anything else could be done for him her sensitive ears picked up a whistle in the wind.

If it had been someone else maybe things could have been different. Been better.

But it was just Mei.

She simply watched the sword stab through Kotemon before he fell over the edge unable to do anything. One one hand the infighting she angled for had worked though on the other not as much as Mei had desired nor in the she wanted but she came out unscathed from it. Now down one sword crushed pie tin seemed to have his other sword still stuck near her worse than wear servant. With one problem taken care of Mei felt no qualms about doubling up against him. His obsession would continue to prove his downfall so why not speed it along with her wit.

Before she left to join her servant Mei looked down on Kotomon since she was above him before trying to speak so only he would hear her. These Digimon apparently had as good of hearing as they did love of shouting anyways.

“You can hate me, resent me, curse me, because I have privilege but, that itself is a privilege only the living have. Others can choose your death but only you and you alone can make the choice to live.”

Kotemon could feel whatever he needed to feel to keep going. He was not her servant, ally, or one of the other's friend but he could still have some use so it would be a shame if he perished. She would have liked to grab the sword but pulling it out of him could be fatal so it would be best to leave it for now least more data spilling from an open wound killed him faster.

So instead, Mei ran.

Being high above the ground did not blunt her speed after all she was wearing high heels and this wasn’t nearly far enough off the ground to make her hesitate moving from one scafolding to another. The group had a healer after all if she fell. Even if they didn’t Mei was the type to drink poison without hesitation if it meant achieving her goals. A fall from grace never stopped her before so why should a fall from heights.

Mei made a leap of faith aiming to dig her heels into the Digimon beneath her that she didn’t even know the name of.

After all what goes up must go down and she was generous enough to help him go down to the deepest layer of digi hell.

This was it, Ace thought, on his knees and staring down at the mud that smeared his hands. The Shamamon surrounding him closed in like a pack, revelling in his defeat, and a numbing hopelessness settled over him. They were going to die here, he and Cutemon. He couldn’t fight, he couldn’t protect anyone. He was nothing more than a burden, dragging everyone around him down with him. The despair churned in his gut, thick and heavy, weighing him down even further. As his emotions threatened to consume him, Ace felt a gentle touch on his arm. He looked up, and there was Cutemon, wounded but still standing, defiant in the face of their attackers.

“Stay behind me.” Cutemon firmly instructed Ace, positioning themselves in front of him.

“But…” Ace stammered, heart tightening as he thought of the digimon facing down certain death to protect him. Cutemon was just as badly hurt, just as vulnerable, and the idea of his partner sacrificing themselves in an hopeless effort to save him was a feeling worse then any injury the Shamamon could inflict. Yet, even as his mind raced with doubt, something stirred in his chest; a surge of fierce, desperate longing that caught the attention of his digivice. The device in his pocket pulsed, reacting to Ace's feelings of despair and his overwhelming desire to help his friend.

Parameters of Desperation met and exceeded...

.

Digi Evolution...

Authorized...

A surge of energy erupted from the device and shot towards Cutemon, sparking a transformation in them as a golden orb wrapped around the digimon.

CUTEMON DIGIVOLVE TO...

Cutemon grimaced as their soft pink skin painfully peeled away revealing a green, glowing wireframe underneath that shimmered with energy. The frame expanded, limbs elongating, as their small paws shifted and hardened into hooves. Their snout extended outward into a sharp-edged muzzle filled with jagged teeth. Cutemon’s scarf stretched out behind them, splitting into powerful, feathery wings, and their headphones fell across their eyes, reshaping itself into a horned, metallic visor that covered his face like a helmet.

UNIMON.

Ace felt his chest tighten as Cutemon, now an imposing Unimon, emerged explosively from it's radiant cocoon, landing on it's forelimbs with a heavy thud. Unimon’s hot breath escaped in visible clouds and their nostrils flared with a primal intensity. Ace looked up at Unimon with a mix of awe and fear, the digimon in front of him might’ve been his partner but they were nothing like the quiet Digimon Ace knew.

With a snort and a stamp of their hooves, Unimon's singular eye flashed red, locking onto the nearest Shamamon. Without hesitation, they reared back and charged, their heavy hooves pounding against the ground as they launched forward, horn glowing with energy, to gore the goblin.

“Javelin Thrust!”

"You can count on me Bancho Bear" answered Tentoman.

With Cool Kimi learning everything she knew from the champion, how could she refuse such advice. Buzzing higher she halted in the air as her partner added to the plan. Snapping her googles over her eyes, Kimi noticed the same thing's Gryzmon had bar one before he began to take the rooftops. Shouting to her perky partner, she told her to to try for the log bin and the electrical box, in that order. Tentomon nodded going high to swoop down fast and low. Flying towards the pole reserves with a demure drone, she rolled in the air outstretching her good claw as she did a flyby.

Bumping up and down and all around, all Kimi could do was hang on tight to the scruff of the undulating ursine, burying herself into the soft fur of the champion. Every impact seemed to want to knock the wind from her but she kept her googled head down and did her best to talk over the racing wind. "Gryzmon, think you can handle the bell?"

Kimi could visualise the results of what she wanted; Tuskmon toppling over the logs, to be shocked by the electrical wire and finally trapped by the bell but whether they could pull it off was the real question.

Ruth was ready to be swallowed whole or, at the very least, attacked. Instead, they laughed. She was taken aback, as was Terriermon, until Youkomon whispered something to her, testing her and asking her to prove herself. The question was why? What purpose did it serve when Ruth knew nothing of the fox? Yet inside, she felt as though she owed it to herself to back up her words. Interestingly enough, Youkomon pointed out an intricate detail regarding the satellite Cyclomon guarded. A clue of its importance before they manifested flames to shape into a satellite only to be destroyed. Like the mysterious creature they were, Youkomon vanished along with the wind. Ruth stared at the spot where the digimon stood wondering why they would meet again, and what did their encounter entail for the future. ”Well that was weird.” Terriermon piped up pointing out the obvious.

The blonde nodded in agreement. Her attention was drawn to Dr. Tanaka lending a hand to Alex. Ruth stepped forward ready to assist as the two were surrounded. ”What are you doing?”

    ”Saving my friends.”

”Did you forget what that crazy fox said? The furball told you to fight that one-eyed brute and do something about the satellite.” He directs her to Cyclomon, but Ruth is concerned about Alex.

”Alex is injured and it’s three on two. I have to help.” If she didn’t step in now, it would all be over, and what she said would be all for naught. Despite what Terriermon wanted, Ruth raced over them but stopped halfway as Cutemon began to digivolve. What became of that adorable rabbit transformed into a majestic unicorn/pegasus digimon. Unimon is its name. If she can recall, they are a vaccine type. Ruth stared in awe at the beast as it charged toward a Shamamon.

”It seems your friend is fine and hasn’t given up the fight yet. He has back up too.”

    ” But-”

Terriermon hops off Ruth and stands before her with his hands on his hips.”If we split up we have a better chance at stopping all this chaos. Not to mention you gotta show that fox what you’re made of. She dared you. You can’t go back on dares.”

Ruth looked between the rabbit and Alex. They had a point and had to keep their word otherwise it would be meaningless. At the same time, she also mentioned she would help Alex. What was the right move? She didn’t have her digivice or a partner and Terriermon was a temporary pair. Her eyes shift to Cyclomon and his precious device. He did sit there like a guard dog. Something had to give, but Terriermon might not be a match. “Alright, think you can be a distraction?” Terriermon gave a thumbs up of approval.

’Alex, forgive me.’ She thought before the two ran over to Cyclomon and hid behind a hut where the two huddled up and planned.

”Okay, go ahead and create your diversion. I’ll try to sneak around and try to destroy it. Ready? Go.” She whisper-shouted queuing the rabbit to start.

He cartwheels across Cyclomon and puffs his chest. ”Hey, Jaundice! You came to the wrong side of town, pardner. Who do you think you are walking in here strutting your stuff? Now you and I gotta tussle or my name isn’t uh…uh….Sherrif Mcgee.” For some reason, Terriermon shifted personality into a cowboy. Given how much destruction there was it sure seemed like it. ”I’ll start. Bunny blast!” Terriermon exhaled a green ball of energy targeted at Cyclomon. He ran spewing a continuous chain while Ruth sneaked her way over to the satellite.

On her way, she picks up a heavy rock hoping to strike it down, but as she looks closely, she realizes something. Cyclomon was summoned out of thin air. Would it be possible to bring Impmon as well or is there some sort of password needed to operate? Ruth starts searching for buttons to press randomly hoping it will trigger something or maybe a self-destruct button. ”Come on.” She grumbled.

Objective:
Stop Tuskmon From Destroying the Fort Gate

Side Objective: Rally the Troops: Defeat Gladimon

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

As Gladimon fought to get their other blade out they were questioned by the enemy on the estimed line of fairness. "Faith no what you have is slave bonded foolishness... you... you... FOOL. You are not guided by a faith you are bonded to a devil's contract," Gladimon argued completely coming into a circle of childish insult at this point as embarrassment had prolonged. That's when they noticed the glow from below, finally, Gladimon stopped squirming as its eye lowered to its opponent.

The Kotemon who had been injured breathed heavily looking at the silver rapier impaled in its body. As it did its best to hold its form together a shadow claimed the sunlight that had been brightly lighting the metal blade all over Kotemons being. Looking up to see the source Kotemon was met with Mei looking down at him as she spoke for a moment.

What she had to say was much different from before, and felt more real from her lips. Apparently, she saw life as a privilege and everyone was allowed to see it how they wanted. However, when she pointed out it was Kotemons choice on how to live the rookie found himself stumped as the woman quickly disappeared. For a moment Kotemon was lost in thought before turning their eyes to the blade in their body.

"GAHHHHHHHHHHHH," Gladimon was hit point black between the legs as Black Gabumon delivered his patented Little Horn into the pinball's body, and much like a pinball machine cranking the shot Gladimon was launched into the air with their blade still stuck in the wood. Now completely disarmed for the moment. As they flew up Gladimon could have sworn it saw the pearly gates of heaven before descending through the sheer pain which instead quickly became the torturous spikes of hell as Mei dropped down a heel right into its body knocking the wind out of them thanks to the size difference. As the two hit the ground Mei would find herself slipping off Gladimon as the ball Digimon rolled away from her until he halted his face in the ground.

For a moment there was silence...

"GRAHHHHHHHH," the pinball knight screamed as they jumped onto their feet mad dashing for Mei. Regardless if they didn't have their blades it was still a champion digimon even a punch from a small digimon at that level would do a lot of hurt onto Mei. So as it lunged for her ready to break her ribs with a painful cracking smack... it was instead revealed that Gladimon was the one to which the sound reverberated off of.

"Meteor Slash," Kotemons wooden blade would pummel the midair Gladimon before one last hit sent the pinball right back to where it started as the rookie who had gotten in between Mei, and Gladimon coughed up an extreme amount of pain revealing it to have removed the rapier blade from its body. Except it wasn't Kotemon who had removed the Rapier... it had been Gladimon who while being whailed on had grabbed his weapon before being swatted away pulling the blade brutally out of the rookie rearming himself.

In the mix of all this confusion and movement Mei's sight would now be away from the fort walls she had been facing but now towards the other end away towards the route to the hut/living quarters of the fort far off in the distance with a few other elements of structure and buildings in the way, but close by watching the fight off nearby hiding amongst the scaffolds all around was the residents of the fort.

It probably wouldn't take a crazy person to guess it but a fort like this should have been made out of metal. Given the landmass surely that wasn't hard to come by, and given they had a large forge section they had a refinery process. Yet if one were to pause and think about it. If the complete defense of the fort relied on its leader than it must have had a major defensive element to back that up for those who couldn't fight. Atop that, the area itself was a strange choice of position strangely perfectly flat in an area riddle of forestry elements... wouldn't someone want to hide amongst the elements for defense?

If one were to think deeper about it if there was a warning horn surely there was a bunker of sorts for those to hide in while the fighter fought, and there was yet that had been near Gabriel's office in the center yet the fort folk had run this was instead away from the center.

Though whether or not Mei would have such thoughts or be able to perceive such a notion it was what was behind the fort folks that would no doubt catch more attention. The Kotemon who had attacked and chased them were all sprawled out koed... not deleted, but clearly, the fight had been driven out of them. The humans and their bio partners like Gabriel had said were not fighters nor had the will to be aggressors, but right now all of them were covered in wounds and had fought their way here having heard the Gladimon's screams... they had united to save someone in danger. Though now that they were there they were hesitant to charge a champion Digimon.

They had been inspired by Ruth, and Ace's notions to stay behind and fight. Though they didn't have the nerve to charge Cyclomon the rookies that made the soldiers of the attack were something they could aspire to take out... like they had clearly. But like Gabriel had pointed out they couldn't go through deleting the Kotemon instead halting at knocking them out... they couldn't get stronger due to their insecurities their inability to take the step needed to be survivors... they couldn't kill.

Two waves of data coding would arrive on the scene downloading into Mei's Digivice as the twin satellite dish app beeped this time much more lively as if at full functionality as it notified her of another Mushmon code being accepted from Sealsdramon, along with a Shamamon code from Unimon. Gladimon watched confused by this unaware of the hoard of people watching the fight as it pointed its blade at Mei.

"So close little silver-tongued devil, you almost had me, but now it's time to end this all you got is a near-dead rookie betrayer and a lackey fool of a pelted coat rookie. I am a knighted Champion I earned my veil ribbon, and I will not be defeated by rubbish united around rubbish. You will be the one stepped all over," Gladimon was whopping a little while not worn out it was clear the damage was starting to stack up.

The Kotemon show as guarding Mei got their cough undercontrol mumbling something only she could hear. "I want to live... by bashing his skull in, and protecting you in apology for misunderstanding you," Kotemon coughed ready to join Black Gabumon in the fight if so deemed.

...........................

Gryzmon chuckled at Tentomons code name for him as they closed in on Tuskmon again though for a moment he could have sworn he caught the scent of something close by, but it was to faint to be concentrating on now. As the trio made their way for the green dino with a plan in execution Tentomon got ahead of Tuskomon slicing at the reserve pole container straps slicing them with ease due to the tension they held.

The reaction was pretty instant as the polls flooded out into the roads and other areas. Yet right as Tentomon neared the electrical cables a ball, and chained veil ribbon wrapped around her neck as the unnatural Kotemon came swinging in crashing into her. As he tried to pummel her midflight the two rookies crashed into a hut before tumbling out into the roads.

During this madness, two more streams of data converged onto Kimi's digivice as the twin satellite dish app beeped this time much more lively as if at full functionality as it notified her of another Mushmon code being accepted from Sealsdramon, along with a Shamamon code from Unimon.

"You're mine... FLAMING BAMBOO," Kotemon said with an eerie voice pulling back his ribbon and releasing Tentomon from the throat grip he had... no he didn't want to take her out easy... he wanted the fight as he swung forward his wooden sword engulfed in flames as he aimed to clash with her to the death.

Gryzmon growled at the unexpected arrival having escaped Gazimon, and that strange Bushi Agumon, but he had to stick to the plan without the electrical wiring adding to the chaos the bell would have to be the winning shot with a major 50/50 chance now. As Tuskmon hit the scene with the poles the dino quickly was moving out of control ramming into three different buildings full-on in its race, but with the electrical cables unavailable it did not trip up unfortunately. Yet it was being heavily impeded and slowing down drastically Gryzmon jumped ramming into the side of the building with the bell as he noticed something of extreme emergency.

"CALL HER BACK," Gryzmon growled urgently to Kimi as Tuskmon was now nearing Kotemon, and Tentomon with a flame emitting extreme heat of Tuskmons right fist... it was going in for an attack on the red ladybug. Gryzmon climbed up with a sense of urgency, up the bell tower as quick as possible... he wouldn't make it in time.

"Panzer Knuckle," a very viscous almost hungry for destruction echoing voice emitted from Tuskmons maw as the fist fully ignited with flames... the attack was going to hit dead on. As Gryzmon got close to the bell it would feel like everything was slowing down.

As the leader of the Shamamon charged in he watched in fury as that pink rabbit even after being given the facts chose to defend its human. No matter, this would be the trial that proved his worth to the Veil, to the Pope, and most importantly to his big bro. The lead Shamamon lunged with bone, and Hammer was ready to bring Cutemon the pain it so desperately wanted. Though instead, it was he who pain would be delivered unto. For as the green goblin closed in an unexpected golden orb grew expanding out as it slammed into Shamamon sending him hurdling back like a rejected stone from a jelly river.

The other two lackeys Shamamon grunted and were stunned as they recovered as the little rabbit that they had bullied, and beated turned into a majesticly dangerous Unimon. As the golden orb popped the difference in energy could be felt... as the champion asserted its dominance with a hoof stomp and a breath of heated air. Too bad the warning would be a moment too late as the Shamamon who had been the original pimp slapped threw a hut, froze for a moment eyes dilating as something suddenly didn't feel right.

They had seen and heard Unimon charging but the bestial Digimon had been a lot faster than expected, and within a second or two had impaled the lackey Shamaon straight through with its Javelin Thrust. The Shamamon looked down at the entry wound for only a moment before their feet were taken from the ground and the horse continued to charge forward with them on their horn. The energy conserved into the horn spread throughout Shamamons body causing it to be stunned in pain as no words could escape its mouth only leaving one last motion to follow as it exploded into energy defeated in one move by the champion. The data would split flying around in 9 waves of data as one of those went straight into Ace's digivice signaling his victory.

As Unimon would continue galloping the lead Shamamon sprawled on the floor was now wide-eyed as one of his brothers was deleted with ease... no that damn fox had helped the process, but the fact that it only took one move from the newly formed horse... was beyond expectation. A very prominent wrathful growl could be heard from Cyclomon yet strangely nothing was followed up by that minus a notable tremor... something was distracting the brute?

The lead Shamamon couldn't care at the moment they would fail this trial if things were not roped back in, and fast. They knew how their big bro thought, and if they failed now they would not be given a second chance... he wouldn't fail his brother. The green menace got back up using the hammer and bone-like extending claws as it glared deep hatred for the champion that stole its other brother. The human would have to wait this thing needed to be dealt with now.

"Brother eyes on the horse," it growled to its only remaining lackey Shamamon who nodded as Ace was finally given some breathing room though as this went on another wave of data came flying into Ace's digivice as the twin satellite dish App beeped this time much more lively as if at full functionality as it notified him of another Mushmon code being accepted from Sealsdramon... whoever that was. Yet as Ace would get that view something would be noticed stuck to the hammer in his hand... it almost looked like a red key card with holes punched in it.

"MAD TWIST," As the two Shamamon made it to the different sides of Unimon they both yelled releasing a long line of purple rings that minorly exploded around Unimon trying to keep him from running given his advanced speed over them. As the dirt sprayed around like muddy rain the grunt Shamamon came running in from the left swinging the bone since Ace still had his club with all his might.

"DANCING BONES," the voice while believed to be the first attacker would be echoed again as the first one charged in revealing Shamamons bone going for Unimons front leg another would be spinning right for Unimons face as the Leader Shamamon jumped through the raining mud latching onto Unimons back as it lifted up its hammer with all its might.

"SHAMA HAMMER," the leader would swing his hammer with divine fury multiple times trying to bash in Unimon's skull completely not registering the foolishness of the fact that Unimon did wear a helmet of sorts that would dampen the attack. As this was happening many of the people running watched noticing the strangers of Ace, and Ruth who were standing their ground as they ran for the bunkers at the other side of the Fort. Protecting them, people they didn't know with a determination... not seen ever... in newcomers.

.............................................

Cyclomons eye was planted on the battle, so far his young brothers had done marvelously against the humans minus the small hiccup, but were assured they could recover. He trusted them and stayed vigilant judging their actions to assure he would be able to grant them the title of Deacon after this affair. The other fleeing humans could wait as he had destroyed much of their living quarters in one breath the fear, and dread would no doubt be high, made evident as they ran without a fight.

They would all be corralled later for the Cardinal Ancient Sphinxmon to judge later. Though out in the distance Cyclomon could hear a major battle still happening between Groundramon and the one human they had concerns about when targeting this place. No matter Groundramon was a proud noble warrior they would win.

Yet it was there when he would be pulled away from his glorious thoughts by a golden light that revealed one of the human bio partners... digivolving... that shouldn't have been possible the only one with potential to do that in this area had been the Digi Destined Gabriel... how was their another experienced when all knew the Forest faction humans were nothing but cowards.

Atop this Cyclomon watched as one of his little brothers was taken and upon that sight, Cyclomon was about to join the fight enraged by the loss until he paused watching the fallen Shamamon's data break into nine strands of code with one in particular coming so close to him as it went underneath him. His one eye followed as he turn his head to his backside spotting the human girl from early standing next to the holy relic with a rock in hand as the code flew past Ruth... it was pretty damn obvious was the sneaky human was up to.

"You dare try to desecrate a Veil Relic...," Cyclomon was halted by a Terrieirmon who called him out as... Jaundice? Apparently, the bunny labeled itself as a sheriff of this Fort. This was getting out of hand as the Cyclomon let out a steam of hot air considering attacking everything in sight. Yet the Satellite was right there and could get damaged. The human it doubt would be able to do much better to handle the annoyance of the digimon first and then he would squash the human girl as the bunny cowboyed up to follow a devouring of that damn horse. As much as it wanted to handle the latter first it had to hold to its rank of Priest meaning the requirements of the Veil came first.

"As you wish roden...," Cyclomon was caught of guard as the bunny went straight into attack mode pelting the brute's face with a rapid fire of Bunny blasters in a series of volleys rather impressive for the small rookie. Yet they did little in damage as the brute raised its hand blocking them as it charge up energy in its through before countering.

"HYPER HEAT," Cyclomon bellowed unleashing the intense heat ray from before, and though at first the beam missed Terriermon the poor bunny would realize it was now in fact following after as Cyclomon kept the attack up following the bunny's movement aiming to melt him into a charcoal rabbit barbecue.

As Ruth would now be able to concentrate on the Satellite that had summoned the two champions, and Ultimate Digimon a few things would come into view. There was indeed a panel to operate it with a green screen computer monitor much resembling those from the late 1980's. yet what would catch Ruth's attention was on the screen in bold orange wording it simply asked.

PLEASE IDENTIFY NEXT TRANSFERAL TARGET... CHARGES LEFT... 1...

Almost as if by divine luck it seemed a thought Ruth had was very much possible if she wanted to take the chance in trusting a device she didn't understand underneath that there were two other options to select. The buttons under the satellite were luckily legit English lettering, and numbering.

REVERSE TRANSFER OF SELECT TRANSFERS... AUTHORIZATION KEY CARD REQUIRED...

DISPENSE FINISHED LAB KEY... 1 READY

Next to the screen, Ruth would notice two card slots one that clearly dispensed cards and one that accepted them. At the moment there were three options she could work with... well technically two as one required some form of card she would have no idea how to obtain at this moment.

Raven watched Arii for a moment making sure they were fine being benched by Witchmon which clearly stung them a little but it was factual logic. Arii had done their part now it was time to let the mons who could hit back do their thing. Raven smiled though as Arii commented, well more so question an animalistic trait, but she could tell Arii had gotten a moment of easing up.

As Arii raced towards Impmon Raven decided to let Arii handle what they could as she concentrated on the fight staying close, and far enough away to gauge if she should or could give out a combative suggestion. While Arii was running out as they would talk to Impmon something at the angle the two were at would glint near the edge of the flames. It was about here where a new strand of digital data would fly in filing into Impmon, Arii, Ji-su, and Ravens digivices as the twin satellite dish app beeped this time much more lively as if at full functionality as it notified them of a Shamamon code from Unimon. Raven a bit confused wondered who the hell was Unimon?

The contrasting nature of Witchmon and Sealsdramon gave Firamon no room to predict how they would work off each other which was quickly becoming a natural born disaster for the lion's ability to counter. As he rammed into Sealdramon's flame emitting attempting to melt the cyborg, the bestial mon was met with some heavy-duty resistance as they fought for supremacy though when Witchmon water fuel shot sniped into his hind legs the lion knew it was in trouble.

With flames, and metal clashing Sealsdramon took its advantage keeping the lion locked in their struggle as it scanned the flaming beast. Firamon's eyes glared knowing the trouble that came with this ability having seen what it did to that lone Mushy waste of space. Both Digimon started to release excess heat from their bodies in different ways, Firamon only had one option to take here as the fire lion was pushed back.

The pain in their back leg built up as Firamon could tell he was losing the pain was to intense and that damn older woman's voice was only adding to his annoyance. As Sealdrsmon shoved the lion, the lion lurched to the side aiming to snag one of the cyborg hands in its maw, but the spikey boot that followed into his mass center cost the lion his breath pausing him for a moment as he hit the ground.

However, the combo would be broke as at point blank range all of the flames around Firamon would collect around the very skull Sealsdramon aimed for as the lion released its more prominent attack.

"FIRA BOMB," the blast broke Sealsdramons attack forcing the cyborg back as the full weight of the attack hit the cyborg's torso both it and Firamon were flung away from each other. Firamon winced and roared in hostility getting back on his feet mid-skid using its side flames, and wings like afterburners to rebalance as his flames only got hotter. Having to resort to such reckless behavior he a king of the flaming jungles pushed by a human toy?

Firamons wings extended out as it quickly dove up before coming right down... for Ji-Su with all its flame spots pushing max flame capacity to rocket towards the woman before Sealdramon could counter. His fangs widely spread as he planned to eat the woman on the spot.

"I'll devour you first. FLAME DI..."

"BALULUNA GALE," the lion's flames halted as all the fire spots on its left side erupted pushing it out of the way of the countering wind gust attack. At a distance, that witch's first spell upon evolution had legit sliced the lion up, and that had been at a distance. Firamon had no desire to know how much damage that spell would do at close range.

A scowl appeared on Witchmon's face having missed her shot even if succeeding in protecting the older woman.

"Way to go girl... man that was close," Raven said poking her head out from behind Witchmon conversing with Ji-Su up close as she was sitting on the witch's broom with her bio partner. Jumping off she landed safely next to Ji-Su with her hands extended out like a T with a smile.

"Ya, ya, ya... be happy you saved her Witchmon blah blah blah," Witchmon scowled further.

"Don't mind her... she's running on a grumpy memory... I think literally hehehe....," Raven chuckled hesitantly rubbing the back of her head as she scanned the field currently Witchmon, Raven, and Ji-Su were on Firamon's left side. Firamon himself was in the skies in the middle of the fighting stage, and Sealsdramon was behind him. Arii, and Impmon were thankful near enough to Sealsdramon that if the lion decided to swap to the easiest target they would get intercepted fast.

"I had worries about him doing that when I saw those wings I was hoping they were for show," Raven admitted looking at Ji-Su.

"Seems we need to team up would. Would Sealsdramon like a lift? I think we should go for the muscle part of his wings. Clip it even once and I bet we ground him stealing back our advantage," Raven offered with thumbs up as Witchmon simply kept her now returning evil smiles gaze on Firamon before giving Raven a squinted look as she was treated like a taxi though Witchmon saw the logic of it all.

"Fine. Fine. Though truth be told I am pretty sure he's at my weight limit. Yet if it allows me to rip the kitty apart... I'll play nice," Witchmon chuckled waving her hand at her partner before her maliciously filed words fueled her flying off for the cyborg position.

"Baluluna Gale," like a shotgun blast Witchmon released her wind magic upward like a scattershot forcing Firamon to take an evasive maneuver which Witchmon found herself fuming at as he dodged all the slicing winds efficiently as the spread had been two wide. No matter as Witchmon revealed she could fly sideways watching her target she rose giving Sealsdramon the chance to grab onto her broom.

Whether or not he took it was his... or maybe better to say Ji-Su chose, but the blonde was now further frustrated as she launched into the air. Firamon at first expected her to go straight for him, but to the flame jungle king's surprise she instead went higher... it only took a moment to click what was to follow.

"BALULUNA GALE," this time Witchmon with quite the cackle of superiority this time unleashed a downward wave of slicing winds. The lion dove down closing its wings but the spell at this angle was much fast slicing all over him as he grunted in pain, half way towards the ground he reopened his wing... fine he would go up the ladder.

"I will keep coming at you with the will of the veiled one. It only takes one domino to make you all fall ONE KILL TO MAKE YOU BOW. FIRA CLAW," a much more energized wave of flames flickered around the lion's fours paws as he started to direct himself straight for Arii, and Impmon flying dangerously close to the ground making Witchmon AOE attacks to dangerous to launch.

"FIRE THE CANNON," Raven screamed out as Witchmon still with Sealdramon on board hopefully spun like a tornado on her broom towards the impact point before halting launching her metallic ally right for the cat from above. During this a massive quack shook the ground coming form the direction of where Eliam, and Roisin were... they needed to finish this fast... cause it seemed like the other half of their team was in it for worse conditions.

.............................

Ancient Sphinxmon watched as lazily as it had before though it should a bit more attention it was clear it saw this as a learning process not seeing any need to feel for the extreme torture the human girl was going through. It was simply doing its job with a disturbing enjoyment of it like a cat playing with a mouse letting it go just to catch it again for fun. As Roisin lay there as an emotional wreck Ancient Sphinxmon wondered if the reaction would be better if it heightened up the darkness squirming in her mind maybe wrenching out the more buried memories of what this girl was spewing would make the process faster.

It wouldn't matter if the girl cracked a bit in the process right?

So as Lopmon flew through the air? It was simply nothing of importance for it to note. The Bio Digimon was not part of its system of... oh? Ancient Sphinxmon tilted its head as Eliam tackled the girl... interesting an outside variable could give a result, or a viewpoint of betterment maybe the pain would ease the memory out more, it wondered not yet bored, but amused.

As for Ancient Spinxmons right hand Dark Knightmon it still stood stoic as commanded as ice feeble clung to its feet sliding off ineffectively, on its torso where it would completely shatter falling to the ground like snow, and as the final volley hit its face the knight digimon simply looked down and asked its own question as the bunnys attack spread out wide impacting both black armored digimon to no effect.

"Do you see how weak you are now? Being attached to such a sinful wretch you never stood much to gain, much less do?"

The digimon present would watch Eliam and Roisin for a few moments as the Cardinal waited to see what the interrupting would cause. As the woman panicked at the cardinals words the sphinx raised their head up in high hopes of something, anything, all to excited now as it sat up further straight it breath whispering a multitude of yes's.

That's when it finally happened.

"Wonderous," was all Ancient Sphinxmon could breathe as its head unnatural spun at 180 degrees on its neck watching every dark trace of feral fear, hatred, defiance, and regret oozed out of Roisin straight into Lopmon. Well what do you know the Bio Partner was usual after all as this was the first time Ancient Spinxmon had witnessed a digivice Evolution... and it was everything it could have hoped for. Passion at its highest peak of purged bliss.

Lopmons transformation rewarded Lopmon with Ancient Sphinxmon's acknowledgement of her existence as it became a much more intimidating a abomination a true reflection of the sin of man. This was the very flagship of what the Veiled job was to do... exercise the evils that made man stand tall. Not once since his coronation into his rank had the sphinx felt such excitement such opened doors for its experiments on how to purge man of their faults to be forgiven by the goddess. This human... this Roisin had given its mind an expansion to the blueprints of its designs.

As the ground shook at Wendigmons completion Ancient Sphinxmon could only look out in delight. This was the route to cleaning it could truly test. The Spinx didn't dare to interrupt as the newly formed Digimon spoke to its partner... no it had to let this take a natural course it had to be studied in natural progression... no outside interference yet, and as Wenddigmons eyes went from black to red Ancient Spinxmon finally gave its orders as Roisin pleaded lop to not given into its feral nature.

"Dark Knightmon entertain our new lab rat."

"Gladly my Cardinal," Dark Knightmon finally took a step forward towards the beast as it bellowed out its rage with a powerful jungle beat behind it. As the ground, trees, and even the air shook. With one heavy swing, Wendigmon tightened the very air all around the dark Knight as it continued towards the beast. Everything around the knight was air-pressured into pieces, but the knight seemed unphased though notably a bit slower than it had started.

"Hmmm. Seems you have multiplied your capabilities, but I remind you nothing times something... is still nothing," the knight spoke scoffing at the beast as the two came toe to toe with one another the two surprisingly were around the same height. Yet that did nothing to impress the knight as it hands grabbed the beast's head before ramming at high velocity the equivalent of an atomic headbutt. Letting go of the beats the ground rumbled again as the unarmed fight started

Ancient Sphinxmon himself was pelted by the blasts of air, but again even in this new stage Roisin's partner did nothing to it. It watched fully attentive to excited to the broadened horizons that it forgot for a moment of the other human. Thus went it finally did not Eliams judgement it found itself in a good mood.

"Kougamon?... Ah there you are," Ancient Sphinxmon eye first landed where a tree had been that the ninja digimon had been on, but during the cable crusher move it seemed that tree had been annihilated and its occupant embedded into another tree.

"Yes... sir," the purple ninja responded.

"Are you still able?"

"Yes, my Cardinal."

"Well do as you like with the other human and its... pup. If you are to survive boy I will gladly add you to my wild batch of test subjects. One needs varying scales of a disease like sin after all to create a cure properly. I have my high batch now... so I could use a good middle batch," it voiced to Eliam before returning its attention to the fight. It needed to gauge how much power Lopmon had gain from accepting Roisin's sin.

"Gladly... though sorry to say my lord there won't be anything left for this... ARE YOU IGNORING ME AGAIN," Kougmon had pulled out his tanto blade ready to impose his darkened master will of execution on this Eliam boy, but as he spoke opening his eyes all he witnessed was the boy collecting the shurikens he had thrown earlier... the ball-shaped purple dressed ninja Digimon fumed jumping in place seemingly sharing traits with another of their ranks.

"ILL KILL YOU THIEF," Kougamon screamed pulling himself out of the tree he had been indented, and upon touching the ground sped quickly toward the boy with the sword in hand.

"Shadow Slash," becoming a blur-like entity Kougamon sped right for Eliams neck.

Ace's heart was pounding as he watched Unimon charge forward with terrifying speed. The first Shamamon, who had laughed and taunted moments before, was struck by Unimon’s horn and thrown back, dissolving into packets of data that dispersed into the air. Ace's digivice pulsed and glowed, absorbing a fragment of that data, and as his gaze drifted down, he noticed a strange red keycard hooked onto the hammer he’d taken from the Shamamon. He had no idea what it was for but assumed it may come in useful later so pocketed it.

Unimon pivoted left and right as streams of purple energy rings from the Shamamon's Mad Twist's erupted around them, exploding in bursts that showered the area in mud and debris. The holy beast was caught off guard when the lackey Shamamon charged forward and unleashed his Dancing Bone attack, striking Unimon in the face and leg and providing the Shamamon leader a window to leap on their back. It swung its hammer down, the strikes landing with vicious force but Unimon didn't falter, it's helmet absorbing most of the damage from the blows. Instead, their single eye glowed brighter, a wild fury blazing in its depths. They bucked, their wings flexing as they snorted clouds of hot air, before they vaulted into the air with a powerful leap.

With the leader Shamamon still clinging to his back, Unimon galloped higher into the air, their movements gaining speed and unpredictability as they twisted and rolled in mid-air, trying to shake off their unwanted passenger. As they did so, Unimon circled back, narrowing its gaze on the one still on the ground. "Aerial Attack!" Unimon snarled, opening their mouth wide to gather energy as they dived towards the earthbound Shamamon and launched a huge blue sphere towards them.

Meanwhile, Ace could finally take stock of the situation. The Shamamon were so preoccupied with Unimon that they had seemingly forgotten about him. That's when he was struck with the sickening realisation that he had forgotten about Ruth. Last time he had seen her, she was being harassed by that purple fox but there was no sign of her now. "Ruth!" Ace yelled out, as he looked around for his friend, using Shamamon's club as a makeshift walking stick. "Ruth!"

Tentomon buzzed with determination, her thoughts locked on the plan. She zipped towards the log bin and electrical box, knocking over one but as she neared the electrical cables, a sudden force yanked her from the air.

A familiar ribbon snapped around her neck, dragging her mid-flight. Before she could react, Kotemon crashed into her, sending both of them tumbling through a hut and spilling out onto the street.

Kimi’s heart raced as she clung to Gryzmon’s back, the chaos of battle unfurling around them. Kimi afforded herself a look only for panic to rise in her chest. The plan had seemed solid, clever even but when Kotemon’s ribbon lashed out and yanked Tentomon from the air, everything unravelled in an instant. She watched helplessly as Tentomon and Kotemon crashed through the hut, her partner’s buzzing wings momentarily silenced. The plan was falling apart, and she could only watch.

Panting and disoriented, Tentomon barely had time to regain her bearings before Kotemon loomed over her, his eerie, husky voice cutting through the chaos. “You’re mine… FLAMING BAMBOO!” His wooden sword ignited in an inferno of orange and red, the heat radiating off it in waves.

Tentomon’s compound eyes narrowed, her trembling claws steadying themselves. So caught up in being a hero, her injury and Kimi's voice shouting in the distance faded into the background. Her gaze flicked past Kotemon to the looming form of Tuskmon barrelling toward them, its flame-clad fist raised high. The attack’s heat rippled the air as it drew closer. Kotemon was too focused on her, oblivious to the impending charge.

Gryzmon was focused on the bell, but Kimi couldn’t tear her eyes away from Tentomon as Kotemon emerged, his fiery sword raised. She could see the strain in Tentomon’s small frame, the way her injured claw trembled. But what scared her most was the look in her partner’s eyes—pure determination.

Tentomon straightened, shaking off her injuries as best as she could. Her heroic instincts flared. This is what heroes do! she thought. They protect everyone, even the villains. She shouted with all her might. “Tentoman will save the day!”

With a powerful push of her wings, she lunged forward, slamming into Kotemon and shoving him out of Tuskmon’s path.

Kimi’s eyes widened in horror. “No! Tentomon!” she screamed, her voice cracking. She clung tighter to Gryzmon, powerless as she watched her partner buzz directly into the oncoming strike.

“Tentomon, don’t—” she began, her voice drowned out by the pounding of Tuskmon’s approaching footsteps.

Kimi could only watch in horror as Tentomon pushed Kotemon out of the way, placing herself directly in Tuskmon’s path in an attempt to stop him. Her partner stood her ground, wings spread, one arm outstretched to her side as the other refused to budge. Time slowed as the flaming fist descended, Tentomon looking down at her limp arm with puzzlement and in that moment, all Kimi could do was plead silently, clenching the hairs on the big bears back so tightly.

Please, Gryzmon, do something. Please save her.

Hoping that Impmon would find his way back to the trainer that had abandoned him... Trainer? What a curious choice of words she had used, she thought in reflection as Raven found her way besides Ji-Su who constantly found herself being the center of attention for the attacking Digimon. Which to her at least all but confirmed if you killed the player the Digimon went with them.

"Hmm... Very well! Sealsdramon! Focus on my words! Catch the ride then ready your momentum!" The Korean woman yelled out, as her cyborg partner did as she said while the fire breathing lion took to the sky, he had no real ability to interfere here. So, the lift as Witchmon had put it was welcomed, though he had real concerns about if she could lift him. When that was put to rest and he was launched forward the Commando heard the words of Ji-Su, looking to take the offensive.

"Now! Propel yourself and kick off! Death Behind! Target the Wings and bring him down! Then go for the throat! Be ready to move Raven, he's targeting us on purpose. I think if we go, so do they." There were also the mentions of his self-proclaimed god, but she would think on them later. For now, it was time to survive.

"Affirmative. Death Behind." Came the distant reply as he carried out the actions to the letter, moving with speed and precision that the foe was unlikely to make as his knife aimed to cleave off a wing before continuing around to the throat as the Cyborg dug his free arm into the digital flesh of his opponent for a good solid grip.

Arii hummed low and deep in their throat, considering. Impmon was right... the flames were high and hot. They could feel it from where they were standing. They had nothing to staunch them with, and the best time would be to slip away when the lion wasn't looking, so Witchmon was out. Hm. "If it makes you feel better," they started, eyes skimming their surroundings, searching, "I can come with you. We shouldn't leave Ruth and the others alone, though." The flames licked at the only trees in the area they could think to climb. The largest one, which they found themself walking towards, glinted oddly in the purple light.

They stopped when the heat blistered across their face, scorching their skin not enough to burn but enough to itch terribly. At their foot, appearing to have bounced off the root of the great tree—something like a mix between a red oak and a maple—was a box. The same odd box the party had been puzzling over before the cat had appeared. They had half a thought to grab it, but the knowledge that it would probably be hot enough to fuse their skin to its metal stopped them.

Their nose twitched. The tips of their ears itched.

Someone was looking at them.

They whipped around so fast something in their back went pop. Their hand was reaching for Impmon's bandana before they'd even registered the fire cat's words. The calm in the back of their mind melted away, and their teeth snapped shut fight.

With a wall of flames to their back, and that lion's reach with its wings, they didn't have a lot of places to go. Think, think, think.

It was reaching for them, lunging. Behind it, framed by the airfoil of its wings, Commandramon—Sealsdramon honed in on its wings, his knife angled to cleave into its shoulder, but oh if he misseddamn it, they should have brought sand from the beach.

"You, and everyone else I've ever met, dumb fuck," they snapped at the cat too long to be socially acceptable after he spoke.

One choice.

Mostly.

"Impmon, take to the left," they said, lower. Quieter. "Can't get both of us."

And they ran towards the giant flaming ball of claws and teeth. Their heart thundered in their chest like a stampede. They panted and gasped at the air, because it was hot, searing their lungs and lancing pain all up and down their spine.

Just as Sealsdramon's knife drove close, they threw themself under the arch of the lion's wing, head covered by their arm and their roll taken by their shoulder. They were playing with literal fire, but between Sealdramon's distraction and the fact that, because of their shoulder structure, cats didn't have much striking ability to the side, they liked their chances.

Hopefully the robot knew to jump if the cat hit the wall of fire.

Using the momentum from their attack Black Gabumon stood up. Wasting no time they used their good arm to perform a Fěnsuì Zhǎo on the stuck sword. At this point it was doubtful Gladimon would let himself get cornered to grab it again so using brute force to get it unstuck was the best choice to add another trick to their tool box.

Out of the corner of their eye they spotted Kotemon making some moves of their own. Seems that they would not be reclaiming that sword, a shame. For now so Black Gabumon would use the tried-and-true method of heating up and cooling down metal using their attacks to assist the removal of the sword. If that made the weapon brittle it was of little concern since they would not be the one wielding it.

Once everything was said and done Black Gabumon did their best to trundled over to Mei.

Successfully heeling the enemy Mei felt herself start to slip off his roundness. While some would call her a fool Mei wasn’t going to balance upon him like some circus ball so,

Elegantly.

Gracefully.

Mei fell on her butt.

“Wehg,” Mei let out having redirected her weight to ensure she fell in the least harmful way. Given the practice she had gained from her tumbles in the digital world this time she made sure not to bite her tongue nor let the adrenaline take over.

While Gladimon let out a yell and charged Mei simply grabbed her sunglasses that had fallen off proceeding to stand up and dust herself off. Unlike him Mei could grasp the whole picture so she knew their it was a good moment to collect herself. Black Gabumon trundled over looking worse for wear.

But they did have a sword.

“He gave me a bald spot,” Black Gabumon said handing the sword over and hugging Mei’s leg.

“Ara? A shame,” Mei said glancing at the scaffolding were the two fought cluing her into the spat they had with Gladimon. Despite his brain being as smooth as his body the difference in power was clear. It was a shame the scaffolding wasn’t weaker or that they did not have the time to prepare a trap beforehand to finish things in a single move. Still, the scaffolding did have a weakened part so they could try to use Gladimon’s power against him by tricking him into collapsing it on himself. Hiding below it may work for the smaller Black Gabumon but given pinball’s size Mei would need to be careful using it to trade cover for mobility. She also had little desire to climb up it again given the soreness from her tumble.

Kotemon was unreliable.

While his decision saved her since Mei held no trust in him to be a good card in her deck anymore.

It seems he had made the choice to close his eyes and take the easier path of following her rather than face the world with eyes wide open. Well, sometimes people needed to do that to live but given his now open wound they would need to finish the fight quickly for the choice to matter. Maybe it was for the best he decided to throw his life away now since he could easily change his mind again in the future.

The two waves of data confirmed a direct approach would be better than trying to run and hide again by leaving Kotemon to his fate. All their enemies would have to do is look for the stream of information to find them. Mei didn’t bother looking at her digivice since she could instead be looking at Black Gabumon and give them a little pat for being a good servant. Nor did she bother responding to Gladimon since it was just sad at this point. Mei stepped on him. Stepped on him all over. It was clear the more he lost the more words he would spout like a toxic gamer. He reminded her of Arii or maybe Raven.

Ara? He had a ribbon? Maybe unlike the zombie dogs this little creep would leave behind a corpse. Mei hoped so she could loot it.

“Do as you wish,” Mei responded to Kotemon her tone making it clear he would need to live with the choices he made and that she would not be accepting his apology. He had understood her correctly so there was nothing to apologize for. All he did was give Mei a chance to leverage his guilt and teach him a lesson that one should not apologize carelessly.

Looking at Kotemon's wound they could only hold the upper hand and Black Gabumon’s hand for so long Mei twirled the sword she was given. Time to switch tactics and press their superior numbers. What Mei lacked in skill with the blade she would make up with madness.

So, she threw the sword at Gladimon.

“Gabumon Shot,” Black Gabumon called sending out the attack after the sword. They would force him to eat an attack if he wanted to grab it or create an opening if he blocked it.

It was an easy decision to toss the sword away for Mei since she didn’t know much about Gladimon nor his weapons so better to set a trap this way then wield them and get surprised by some Digimon attack she didn’t know of which was all of them.

Slipping her hand behind the tube of her stole she could only hope that the little metal tube could prevent a sword cut. Mei was the object of his rejection so she would simply try and bait him into strategic positions and dodge so Black Gabumon and Kotemon could do their best to take pot shots at him.

-------------------

The rage and fury was higher than ever, the experience not as much. The swung fist, arm, and steel-like tendon ripped through the sparse treeline that barely framed the outcrop of the cliff, even a whole tree with an unfortunate occupant were sent flying away from the sheer force of destruction unleashed.

"Lopmon, stop!"

The roar of pressure had a moment of slowing affect the two powerful Digimon, but even a moment was an advantage for the newly evolved former-Lopmon. The swing would rip through the trees, it would strike the hulking metal figure, it will grab and coil around the malicious feline and squeeze until the purple glow left its eyes and then...

"Listen to me...stop!"

Róisín's arms barely wrapped their way around the giant Digimon's ankle. The tough, deep maroon skin dug into her face and hands while the bristles of brownish fur above gently brushed against her head as it swayed from the wind. It was nothing, she was nothing, more like a baby clinging to their mother, but it was enough to snap the Digimon's attention away from unleashing pure destruction.

"Row-sheen..."

The punch lost all momentum, falling limp with a crash of dirt, dust, and leaving the long tendril of an arm trail lifelessly back to the halted Digimon. The giant slowly blinked as it took notice of the little figure clutching its leg, cooing gently as recognition returned just enough as it gently reached down with its massive paw towards her partner. Not enough recognition however to notice the approaching looming figure.

"Lop!!"

Róisín's cry and glare caused the Giant to quickly swing its focus back on the enemy, and collide head to head with the challenging Dark Knightmon. The headbutt from the Knight was enough to upend the earth beneath the Giant's feet, forcing the Digimon a good foot into the ground like a fence post and earning a scream and shout in surprise from Róisín as she was flung away. Instinct once again took over.

The rage rose, the need to crush and tear, but it was coupled with something else though faint. The hand that once gently tried to reach, immediately shot out and snatched the little figure as she flew through the air. It was rough and Róisín slammed hard against the tough palm, but as the Giant held its head pinned against Dark Knightmon's, it slowly lifted and placed Róisín up against one of the large shoulder horns to cling on tight.

"Guh..!! S-Sorry Lop..." Róisín winched as she wrapped her arms, this time successfully, around the large outcrop of bone. Her breathing grew heavy, sight a little blurry, the pain from the throw, the mental attacks, the crushing of earth and force, but she pushed through and held tightly glaring with the same ferocity at Knightmon as the Giant she clung to.

"Get em, Lop!"

D̴̯̜̲̺̲̣̯̖̱͉̀͑̆̊͝ͅĚ̷̛̜̠̥̳͇̺̠̿͂̇̓͐S̷̢͎̰̺̝͉͔̙͔͔̤̙͎̏̅̃̽͜ͅT̴̯͎̒̒R̶̯̼̯̾͋̑́́͌̿͐͒͆̈́O̷͓̙̰̫̗̹͛͂͆̀͆̀́̌́͛͘̚Y̸͎̮͊́̓̅̔̿̃̈͝!

The hurricane of force erupted once again, warping the air and pressure around the two Digimon and passenger, just as the Giant's laying arm sprung to life and retracted itself as quickly as it had once fired. Ripping its feet freely from the ground and gaining height again, the Giant retorted with an under chin headbutt against the Knight in time with its returning arm to slam and grip into the enemy's back tightly.

With a beastly growl of ferocity, the Giant used as much force as possible to hurl the Knightmon away before leaping straight after it like a predator ready for the kill. As Knightmon would come to land hard near the edge of the cliff, the approaching airborne Giant stretched to its full height to reveal not only its maroon coloured torso, but the sight of at least a dozen cannon-like protrusions.

HOWLING VOLLEY

It was like a meteor shower. The blasts rocketing one after another on repeat as they erupted around and against Dark Knightmon relentlessly. Rock was obliterated, dust and smoke helped to block sight between the two, but the shots kept coming, and cracks steadily began to form from the onslaught upon the cliff.

So much in fact that when the Giant finally appeared again through the haze to slam its full force into Knightmon's chest, the earth had no choice but to give way for the two titans. Chunks of rock and earth collapsed and rained down on the fighting below as the cliff fell away with an explosive force, the two fighters taking a momentary tumble from the suddenness of everything.

That was the final straw however. The adrenaline, the anger, the fear, it was all knocked out of Róisín as they lost their strength and grip falling off their partner with a short, but still tough landing. The last sight that of the standing form of her Digimon before everything fell to darkness as she lost consciousness.

The flames were of no concern, those fighting and flying were of little importance, but the loss of the one that had held on was immediately noticed. Quickly looking behind as it began to right itself, the Giant gave a soft whine and coo as it gently plucked up the still breathing Róisín, protectively clutching her close to their chest as they flung themselves towards their opponent again, with no notice of the rapid beeping from Róisín's Digivice.

It didn’t take long for Cyclomon to figure out what was happening. He knew his surroundings exactly as Youkomon described them—a guard dog. Ruth was startled, but Terriermon kept the digimon distracted. He was proud to have thrown Cyclomon a curveball thus gaining the upper hand. That was until Cyclomon chose to retaliate with a laser attack. Terriermon moved out of the way just in time, but it wasn’t over. Cyclomon was determined to take down the rabbit and it showed as his laser chased the digimon. Terriermon dodged, rolled, and even jumped with the help of its ears to help him glide. He cried out in a fit of panic. How was he going to fight back? He has to keep the Cyclops occupied. Even as the rabbit ran he countered with a tiny twister. A small tornado manifests as he spins into the air, hoping to block or ricochet the beam.

Meanwhile, Ruth was left to deal with the satellite. The old machinery seemed simple enough. Most tech back home had more options which complicated even a simpleton like her. Reading over the retro screen, I noticed that the satellite did indeed have options. There was a chance Impmon could be recalled using the device. It would make sense given how they are data. One was a defense while the other was to summon but required a key. ”A key card? What? Where do I find that?” Ruth thought the worst. Cyclomon might have it or the Shamamon with how they summoned their supervisor. That meant she had to return to the drawing board or break the machine to save the fort. If she procrastinates, who knows what will happen? It would make matters worse. She has one job and one chance to make this work. ”What do I do?”

Ruth grips the edges of the box with her head hung in distress. She has to make a choice. Her eyes dropped to the thick rock she carried over to smash the device. Maybe it’s for the best? Terriermon didn’t mind helping her for the moment, right? She glances over at the bunny taking hits and doing its best to survive. A rookie cannot possibly defeat a higher level. Still, they’ve made it this far. It can’t hurt to try something out and pray for the best. She closed her eyes and pressed a key button. When she opened her eyes, she was shocked to have chosen the third rather than the first. “No that’s not what I meant!” She flailed her arms around wondering where the back button was. A black card with a Roman numeral number one pops out of the card key slot. The following caption reads two options:

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE THE NEXT CARD DELIVERED?

    Or

    PLEASE IDENTIFY NEW USERNAME

Ruth blinked at the screen for what felt like the longest time as if trying to make sure she was seeing right when she was having trouble deciding. The second one sounds easy but the first one was interesting. What if she put in a random thought? She types in, “digitally” and waits for an outcome
