Dracumon - Wikimon - The #1 Digimon wiki

Leonard "Leo" Giovanni & *Sigh*.... Dracumon

They weren't done arguing.

"-Yes we are."

"No, we'-"

And thank god, In the nick of time, Leo's Digivice pinged as he sighed. "Give me a moment, But you, Dracumon are not going to do it." He glared glancing at his partner, who deflated visibly. But that grin returned like it was nothing.

"Alright.... Like that, you wouldn't know anyway." He said mumbling the rest to himself cheekily.

Leonoticed the Gryzmon and much to this Italian guy's surprise, The Gryzmon wasn't as big as he imaged it to be (Cursed his overrated imagination). Leonard's Digivice pinged again...... and hey! It's a Gazimon- They're in robes... Huh?

"A Gazimon in robes, That's not what you see every day." Smooth, Leo, Quite smooth of you. Well at least Gazimon managed to explain, welp that's good there! This area was a bit peaceful for him and quite buzzed with that friendly townness from that game he played one time on his PSP when he was younger, Yeah. He sees Kimi's back, well along with his Digivice beeping, and him looking at it, and looking up at what was right behind her aside from Tentomon here. He caught sight of the BushiAgumon, and Weeeeeelll, one of his favorite Digimon was a Bushiagumon, and guess what? He kinda zipped towards Kimi's side looking at the small samurai Digimon with stars in his eyes. "A Bushiagumon! Another cool Digimon-" He halted upon hearing Kimi's invitation to play as he turned to face her, His guess was a card game and Mei slightly declined, Guess it was because she doubted her skills or something... Not that he knows, He pretty much was curious about how good was Mei at playing the game.

"I mean sure I wouldn't mind, But are you sure Signora Mei? I mean, You could be on a higher skill than me." He said addressing the rest towards our dear rich girl over here. He was only a second ranker in the regionals meaning he wasn't even close to possibly what Kimi was, Since she might've been in the internationals or something meaning Kimi could've been a pro!

Dracumon looks at Gazimon who was talking about the Bioweather, Oh no, What was this munchkin thinking? But If it wasn't for Leonard catching that Mischievous Glint in his eyes and gesturing silently to Dracumon to don't do it In whatever he's thinking, Yeah, Dracumon wasn't gonna listen because: Dracumon is Dracumon.

"How spontaneous is this weather? Also, you got anything good?" He asked. Yep, plotting something. He wasn't forgetting about the prank he set up, He just needed a moment to get away from his partner who was trying his best, Poor Leo. If it wasn't for him catching both Dracumon and Gazimon's words about them being on an island, He would've been surprised.

"wait, Wait, Wait, Wait. Island? Like an Actual Island? QUESTA È VERAMENTE UN'ISOLA??????" (Translation: is this actually an island?????) Ah there it goes, Leo officially reverted back to speaking Italian. It was loud enough to the point even Dracumon winced, Jeez did Leonard have a voice? Okay, They were on an island, well that wasn't bad, and he wasn't panicking he was more happy and joyous about it. They were on an island! Woo! He always wanted to be on an island. Also, He may or may not listened earlier on the cave talk or probably forgotten so um who knows?

"Heck yeah!" He thought to himself with a mental fist pump. Dracumon on the other hand sighed. If this was an Island, There were tons of beaches too, and they could go swimming- Wait too far, Leo reels in his excitement a bit because um, Leo almost forgot he along with others had to get back to their world too you know. But then a small grumble from his stomach and he looked embarrassed with his cheeks bit a bit red and him looking away, He was hungry.

"Man.... Um, is there something I go and grab a snack at?" The blonde asked.

It spoke! The damn thing spoke, and as cute as it sounded it was still evil. Even its beady-looking eyes stared into her soul. Ruth griped at the fact that she hated the digital world’s sadistic, deceiving way of showing that the cute ones are the bad guys. She can’t trust anything. “Sorry, but I can’t stand the virus type Digimon. They’re filled with evil. I’m sure of it. Nothing will change my mind.” She huffed while hanging on to Alex for dear life. How inconsiderate of her practically using Alex like a meat shield, not that he minded as it showed, but he is injured and she should be the one to protect him. It was just the fact that she was blindsided by what the Digimon is made of rather than personality just as she felt towards Impmon.

Ruth was back at it again holding her purple crystal close to her and whispering chants that can ward the virus away or at least keep it at a distance from her. She also made it apparent to cast some good spells on both Alex and Cutemon. Alex most likely knows of her quirk regarding crystals and mantra chants. It was her way of being able to get through the day, as she had confessed to him. As ominous as it sounded it was just the lousy truth. It gave her courage.

When the doctor slipped that they were a cute couple, Ruth’s face immediately burned red. No one has ever said that to her. This was a first. “Ah! N-no!” She quickly reacted waving her hands in front of her face. “We are just friends, promise.” She looks away and tries to cool off by covering her face.

Business! Yes, back to business. The reason for their visit is for Alex to receive a check-up. The blonde finally stands beside Alex as he gives the lady the ticket. Hopefully, they have what they need to fix him or some miracle to happen.

Kimi smiled sadly at Gryzmon's answer though she could understand. Beside her, Tentomon tilted her head at the Champion's protégé, before placing her claw in Gazimon's paw and giving it a shake. "Hi. I'm Tentomon and that's my big sister, Kimi"

Bushi-Agumon meanwhile sneered in contempt at the gangly girl who had just accosted him. Gryzmon words did little to ease Bushi-Agumon's annoyance, as there was no double meaning to Mei's words but when the champion bowed his respect, the rookie offered the same in kind. Keen eyes noticed the bears paw wet with juice but when he moved the stick in his mouth to speak Bushi-Agumon felt a weird presence. Looking up, the samurai saurian was met with another human, the boys eyes shining as he stared at him.

"It's Cool Girl.." she murmured, blushing with somewhat embarrassment as Mei tried to use her nickname in the conversation though she raised a good point. The café may have been a better place to duel however Kimi was too polite to voice that, she was just happy that people wanted to play cards with her. Kimi felt herself warming to the Champion rather easily as he spoke, seeing similarities between him and her Grandma, Rose.

Bushi-Agumon recoiled slightly at the Leo's steady encroachment towards him though he relaxed upon hearing the boy's praise. He shifted his stance slightly, content to the let the boy take him in but quickly his nose twitched in annoyance as the boys attention fell elsewhere.

Kimi's head shifted back and forth, her hand gripping her deck so tightly in anticipation, as Mei and Leo talked over who should play. Tentomon however was more lucky. "Yes Please!" Tentomon squealed, her forearms grasping her makeshift deck close to her chest as Gazimon proved game.

Tentomon covered her ears at Leonard's outburst while for Bushi-Agumon this was all just becoming too much effort. He'd circle back around later, but for now he needed a drink.....

"We do have a Pineapple we can share, thanks to Gryzmon" Kimi suggested to Leo, her hearing returning just in time to hear about his hunger. She looked at the Bear warmly, unknowingly getting them one of her favourite things, something that cemented her warm feelings towards him. "Or there is a cafe, Battle, just down the road that serves food"

Tentomon it seemed was eager to play, looking up at Kimi, with eager, almost puppy dog eyes. Though she herself had been eager to play, her fellow Sky Faller's were still undecided so there was no harm in letting the two rookies duel in the meantime. She smiled at her partner. "Go on then. I'll referee"

"Yay!"

She handed her deck to Tentomon, who in turn would hand it to Gazimon when he was ready, the Rookie laying down his cloak like a blanket. Kimi put herself behind Gazimon and next to Gryzmon, ready to dole out advice and instruction to the newbie when needed. She took a moment to talk to Gryzmon. "Would you mind if i asked you some questions?" she asked, the Cool Girl feeling she could be open with the travelling teddy bear.

"Could you tell us more about the fort and the forest? You mentioned this place being the most peaceful of the human forts but then why does it hold so few people?" Doubt was obvious within her voice "We came here looking for help but our host, Gabriel wasn't so forthcoming... What do you know of him? To me it seems like he's given up if I'm honest."

Despite the duo continuing their polite conversation them giving fake names still gave Mei pause. It was about the time in fairy tales when information was revealed along with the seed of the lesson for the book was sowed but she couldn’t shake the sense of unease that she…was missing the chance to create a great misunderstanding with the rest of the group members that were not present.

Both Bearmon and Michikazemon or as they called themselves Gryzmon and Gazimon seemed harmless enough as long as you were not a pineapple. Given the fatherly level of puns that came from Gryzmon it made sense why he would approach someone with a child Digimon to offer advice. He seemed keen on Kimi and Tentomon. No doubt drawn in by the sisters charming enthusiasm for life. The others better be careful because if everything worked out well Kimi would be locking in main heroine status leaving the rest to play for the second lead. Mei had no need to be worried though since it wasn’t a role she was trying to covert for herself.

“Ara? I guess you could say we are on a journey,” she said since the others were technically on a hero's journey,” We should look into requesting some robes ourselves then,” Mei said planning on just asking for fabric since sewing the robes herself would be cheaper. Handmade goods could be tailored better to suit the needs of the wearer in both function and taste and given the wide breadth of…personalities in their group Mei would have her work cut out for herself. Still, even without her bias she knew Black Gabumon’s robe would be the cutest because it would match hers. All the Digimon would be screaming elegance! Before they clammed up into silence amongst her grand villainess presence. Oh, that’s right the pressure she was supposed to be providing ohoho.

“We will take your advice into consideration. It would be a shame if everyone thought we judged people on how willingly they were to bare themselves to us,” Mei said lighter than she planned since her concern shifted back to the finicky weather and the fact they were using card which as far as she knew lost the type advantage against not only rock but water as well so Kimi was one rainstorm away from losing her link to the outside world.

“I have never lost a match before but winning and losing isn’t all there is to a good game,” Mei said in response to Leo. It was true since to lose a match you first would have had to play one against an opponent which she has not. Even if you considered playing against yourself it would just end up in a draw of sorts which was still not considered losing. Hopefully, if Leo faced off against Kimi, it would keep him out of trouble but it seemed his capricious nature struck again as he pivoted to food.

As Kimi answered Leo’s question Mei took stock to see if the situation was something to invest further in since it was clearly a bear market. Given his prideful nature Bushi-Agumon seemed to have redirected his annoyance to herself if the sneer was anything to go by, she paid him no mind. Compared to herself Kimi should seem a much better option and his misunderstanding would be overshadowed by her meddling so they should be able to start on a clean slate.

Kimi while seeming a bit embarrassed also tried to correct her on her proper title. So, while it was small it was good she showed a little droplet of progress of speaking her mind, well, speaking her mind for things she thought should be corrected since Kimi had no issue speaking to the things that brought her joy. Kimi and her partner were like a coocoo clock of sorts since when everything lined up, they made quite the fun little conversation amongst themselves.

Mei would still not use the correct title though.

It was the first time she could use a nickname for someone and surprisingly it wasn’t even derogatory! Maybe it could form the push pull connection between them at least until the others came back or Kimi officially welcomed the newcomers into her friend group. Mei would need to make sure they joined their group rather than Kimi leaving to join theirs.

Since it seemed like moving to a more fitting location was out of the question so Mei motioned for Black Gabumon to take a seat before joining them herself. Popping open the little tube on her stole she took out her emergency check signing pen and some little scraps of paper. Mei wasn’t the type to only play with the cards Kimi would be lending her. Black Gabumon having laid down already and fallen into a nap made the cutest little table for her to draw on. Mei drew a card for everyone in the group each adorned with a little stick figure and a game effect she felt suited them. When it came to Arii, she ended up scribbling out the figure halfway through and drawing something that could resemble a stick dog if you squinted since it felt more fitting. Mei rounded out her cards with a cute picture of her and Black Gabumon relaxing, a thirst trap Leomon, and a Tanuki!

Tanuki was her favorite Digimon since they fought with the power of friendship and the gun they found on the side of the road.

“Ara, you both must be resourceful making it through the dangerous areas,” Mei said piggy backing off of Kimi’s question vaguely fishing for information as she put the finishing touches on her cards ,” I’m sure you have many tales to tell of your travels if the people involved are fine of you speaking about them in public without their permission. Also, what’s your favorite thing?”

If Kimi or Leo were going to reveal too much information Mei would do her best to cut them off and reveal it instead as was her right as the villainess of the group to take the blame. She could try and prevent it but at most delaying it was her best bet with so many people involved keeping the secrets the group overall had so far. it reminded her of that phrase…what was it again? Three can keep a secret,

if two of them are dead.

The scene before them all was like a bomb had gone off just minutes ago. Fire still crackled and burned throughout the area, the stench of something catching everyone's senses with a sudden gust of wind causing Róisín to raise her arm in any attempt to cover her nose and not get assaulted by it further.

After a few pregnant pauses from the group waiting for anything to spring out, Róisín quickly caught the flying whistle from Raven as the young woman decided to step forward into the scene first with Eliam as backup.

Moments passed longer than they should as Roísín's sight quickly darted from edge to edge of the area, looking for any movement that could signal something charging towards the two heading out into the open......nothing happened. The crackling fire, the lingering smell, even the slight breeze, whatever happened here quickly moved along.

"It smells!" Said Lopmon as she covered her nose with her two little paws, before heading towards Róisín and jumping onto her shoulder perch with a quick flap of her ears.

"Yeah, it does..."

Noticing the group, more so Arii, testing the waters further by moving out into the open, allowed Róisín to walk slowly behind them all and take in the scene as they went to work. Ji-Su & Commandramon made a beeline for the wreckage with the Digimon taking stock of something on the ground. Arii was already climbing one of the trees where the faint mark of something could just be seen. But Roísín's eyes kept looking higher into the canopy, and the moment she saw something shimmer and swaying she pointed towards it for Lopmon.

"You mind taking a look up there?"

"Got it!" Lopmon needed no more promoting, leaping off Roísín's shoulder with a sudden flap of her ears and rocketing towards one of the branches of the tree.

Again, she had just literally been born yesterday, but the feeling of moving, of darting and jumping higher from one perch to another, felt natural and fluid, as if she had years of practice. The spot pointed by Róisín was just a little off from Arii's spot, but much higher, and as the bunny Digimon finally reached it a light squelch was heard as her little feet felt sticky and wet.

"Eww, it's gonna get in my fur...!" Pranching from one foot to the other on the slime covered branch, Lopmon decided to raise her once drooping ears so as not to get them sticky with the stuff, using them as balance as she walked closer to the sight before her. Ropes, a bunch of them, all tangled and tied through the many branches to hold whatever was up here. All had been cut. Some straight through, some frayed as if frantically chewed at with a blunt knife, the result was the same.

Tilted her head a little, righting her ears to still keep balance mind you, Lopmon approached one of the looser ropes, lifting it up with her tiny paws to examine it. It was covered in the same slime she had walked on, even managed to soak through the rope and stain it in the same tint...but it wasn't sticky...infact...

"Oh...it's dry...? Better bring some back!"

As they began to tug and pull on the loose piece, back down on the ground Róisín tentatively approached some of the broken pieces of the area close to one of the smelling flames. She remembered the forest from the day before, how it healed itself so soon after the bulldozing made by MetalSeadramon as they chased down the Fakemon. That had been devastating, much more than this, so why? Why was the area still like this? Had they just missed the scouts? Were they making their way back and got attacked just before they all came...or...

Looking at the small patch of burning slime close by, Róisín slowly twisted and dug her boot a little into the soft dirt, before spreading it onto the slime and fire in one go. Immediately after the flame had gone out, she watched the ground start to put itself back together.

'This didn't just happen...it can't heal cause it keeps burning away...' Everything became clearer at that sight. It looked fresh, it looked as if it just happened, and maybe whoever did this didn't do it on purpose, but anyone could come across this place at any time and think the same thing.

"Róisín, Róisín! I got you this!" Taking a moment to look towards the swooping Lopmon, Róisín started to make her way towards the now descending Arii as the bunny landed atop her head, dropping a piece of rope into the partner's cupped hands.

The green tint was immediate, so was the now stiffness of it as she began twisting it a little.

"Thanks for this Lop...thought so..."

As Arii landed back on solid ground, holding up a massive paw print etched on a leaf and questioning the more Digi-knowledged members of the group to a potential identification, both Róisín & Lopmon arrived at the same time as Ji-Su and their partner. They weren't the most informed in all types, like Pokémon it seemed the list kept growing more and more each year, but still the red haired woman and bunny digimon slightly tilted forward to better examine the mark before shaking their heads in unison a second later.

"Don't know, but I agree with Ji-Su. Whatever made that big print was definitely not working alone and they were well prepared for the scouts, look." Lifting the piece of rope she had, she gave them all the chance to examine not just the deep green colour of the slime, but the dryness of the rope and frayed cut.

"It's cut and soaked through, but's had time to dry out. This didn't just happen, could have been like this for as long as they've been missing."

Motioning towards her dampened flame and the sight of that area healing itself, she continued. "That slime is gonna keep burning unless it's put out, that's why the place hasn't healed yet."

Growing a little absentmindedly, Lopmon happily swayed her head and ears to distract herself, as Róisín explained what they had found. The rising sun however soon caused her to tilt her head in curiosity at the sight of something gleaming off in the distance.

"Ohh...!"

"Lop?" Asked Róisín as she stopped mid sentence to take notice of her partner's voice.

"Something shiny, look!" If only the same could have been said for Lopmon, the digimon immediately taking flight and gliding straight towards its newest fascination.

"Lop?! Hey come back!" Without any time to think or consider, she went off after the gliding bunny.

Eliam listened to what Raven was saying as he watched Arii, Gabriel had not mentioned the partnerless part but Eliam was clear on what the partners were for. Looking at Arii, he needs someone to help him, Impmon was a good example of this idea. Not only did Arii make a point to include Impmon, who was partnered with someone else, but he seemed to only be able to talk openly to Impmon, as open as Arii could talk, Eliam guessed. Either way, he was sure that there was something strange about Arii not having a partner, given the growth that he could have with both his skills and knowledge.

Salamon continued with her lazy watch as she looked at Raven when she commented about partners and glanced at Eliam. She would also do everything in her power to protect Eliam, not because he was her best friend, but because that is what he would do for her. In the time that she had been with him, she was small and harmless, Eliam had made sure to not let her get too close to the fire or eat too much. He had managed to pay attention to her and held her close when others were around. She felt his protection and looking at Commandramon she wondered if it was the same for him or any of the other Digimon. She sighed looking passed the chatty group to return to watching their backs. That was her way to help.

When it was silent for a moment, Eliam glanced behind him, to see Raven's mouth finally shut, but her eyes shot at Arii. Fakemon. That must be something that was a secret and with that idea, Eliam decided, Raven was less trustworthy than Arii. Arii was suspicious, but if they were on the same team, even though Arii seemed to dislike it, he at least didn’t hold anything back. Eliam sighed, as he looked at Salamon, the way she looked back at him, made him aware she was thinking the same thing. Arii was a friend and Raven and the others were in question.

It only grew at the idea that Raven wanted to go ahead as bait, it was a fair idea, but Eliam lost trust in more members as they walked. It was starting to dawn on him that he might suspect her of being one of these Jumpers that she mentioned. He wanted to collect data, for now, he was collecting a lot on the people he had landed here with.

Eliam paused at the sight ahead of them, from the scene alone it was clear that something big happened, but not what exactly. It wasn’t long before he heard something thrown and turned to see Raven trying to order others around. He raised an eyebrow, as Salamon straightened up. Eliam looked at Salamon and she looked at him and they both understood.

As everyone moved into their positions, Eliam noticed Raven motioning him to join her. He thought of how much he had come to not trust her and sighed. Instead of joining her, he moved passed her, as Arri moved to his tree work, coming with a print and Ji-su worked on the slim around the area. Impmon gave sound to Eliam’s words so he decided not to mention his lack of input.

Eliam moved towards Raven before he passed her completely and moved to the center of the area, looking around he kneeled and nodded, as he placed Salamon on the ground. “Eww.” Salamon wined as she stepped in slim. She looked up at Eliam.

“Check for anything, make two trips, and return. Just scout.” Eliam told her, she was fast and as he looked at her, she would stay in his sights. He didn’t want her to be a hero but while everyone was trying to understand what happened, he was going to make sure the area was safe first. Everyone had already made themself a target, but he was the furthest from the edge.

Salamon nodded, Eliam was trusting that she was faster than anything they would meet or anything waiting; she was not going to let him down. She took a deep breath before she started towards the perimeter and started her round. Eliam watched her for the first round, but for the second one, he lowered himself slightly, between him and her, he spotted, something shiny, an opening, and some spots, which he figured were the starting points of the blast before the slim. Something was hit, more than one, and the slim only covered so much.

Eliam stood when Salamon was on her third round, she moved quickly before stopping at what looked like it could be a path. She sat and waited. Eliam understood that there were tracks. He sighed as he looked around at the others before he made his way to Salamon. She panted as she said, “These lead away from the blast with the same stuff from the area.” she glanced in that direction, “I think whoever or whatever survived went that way. There is nothing else around for some distance and I didn't spot being watched.” she looked up at Eliam.

He nodded at her explanation, before noticing something she was looking at before turning to the group. He nodded again, she had something else to show them and since she knew he didn’t trust everyone, she was not going to make it known as easy as the path.

“HEY!!” Salamon shouted, “The path goes this way.” she let them know before she moved to Eliam’s feet. If they followed the path, Eliam would be left behind, after all, Arii doesn’t think too much of him, from how he didn’t even assign him a spot, Ji-su didn’t mind him, since they didn’t talk at all the time they had been together, Raven was too much into being high spirit and wanting to charge in, and Róisín treated him like a child, but left him alone when he showed he was fine. By all accounts, if they followed the path, he could fall behind and see what else Salamon found.

"Ah? Excellent journeys make the adventurer, and as fellow adventurers, we are happy to have you in our ranks. Remember it's always good to be pre-"Beared"," the bear grinned widely at Mei's opening statement nodding in agreement to procuring robes. She was a strange one though as the Digimon found her follow-up "consideration" strange to what was natural order here.

The grizzly bear-sized Digimon watched Leonard and Dracomon go at it for a moment causing the blue bear to chuckle shaking his head at the youthful energy. Though he and his protégé Gazimon gave Leonard a raised eyebrow, that they thought it was strange for people to protect themselves from the elements. The energy bounced off the walls as they watched the young man rocket for the samurai Digimon. This was followed by some surprising humble words with Leonard unsure if they were at Mei's level. Atop that, they built up Kimi even more as a powerful strategist. It was about then that Dracomon popped in curious about the weather.

"You can usually bet on a weather change every two days. Sometimes four, but it's consistent to those levels of change sometimes minor sometimes drastic," the bear explained meaning tomorrow was potential for a change, and if not in the next two days, it would be. Yet before they could add any more detail one of the skyfallers had just discovered... they were on a island. Both rookie and Champion raised an eye in confusion... how did they... not know that?

"Is... he okay?" Gazimon slowly turned to Tentomon asking as he shook her spiked hand. It was a first for them to see a Tamer who was happy to be in this predicament right off the bat no less. It was indeed so bizarre that some people and Digimon off in the distance turned to him shouting confused about what was happening, and giving poor Leonard looks like he was crazy. Once Tentomon introduced herself though Gazimon snapped out of it.

"Again pleasures ours. Kimi, Tentomon," Gazimon smiled before it was interrupted by Leonard's stomach rumbling.

"May I offer you a pineapple slice in these "bearing" times," Gryzmon offered with an amused smile placing one slice into the boy's hand as he kept an eye on the sneering Bushi Agumon who had not liked what Mei had worded to him. During this Kimi was correcting Mei's use of her human world title. During this, the bear offered her two slices in hopes of letting the embarrassment pass easier.

"I insist to new friends," Gryzmon hummed placing two slices in the girl's empty hands once she was done with the cards. As Tentomon squealed in excitement to play the card game with Gazimon, Kimi offered up some of the pineapple which Gryzmon was much obliged to do.

"Surely like us friend you have traveled wide a snack, and company well earned for but a moment no," the bear bellowed offering the Agumon variant a slice doubling down on Kimi's genuine kindness. With that, the match between Gazimon, and Tentomon began with their egg cards down to get started on the process of preparation, and planning. As "Cool Kid" Kimi stood next to the bear Digimon he was asked if he could be... well asked some things.

"By all means ask away," The bear chimed with a rather fatherly nod as he awaited the young girl's questions Gazimon got stripped a champion Digimon card causing him to tense up at Tentomon's unexpected counter to his more offensive strategy. Gryzmon listened fully though as the game went on left in thought for a moment before turning fully to the girl.

"In earnest? Because in a world of survival people, and Digimon will more than not break under the pressure of self-preservation. The Forest Faction is a rarity, and I am sure you have noticed that the majority of its people... are not fighters. They are peaceful folk, the kind that values life over conflict... and that is why they are the minority," Gryzmon said with the last bit coming off rather dark as he held a heavy set of eyes of someone who had seen... a lot of bad things.

"Most humans and Digimon choose conflict over peace. Profit/Self gain over charity. In a world of survival of the fittest is the rule it's not all that shocking when you think about it. What do you owe if anything to people you fell with," He posed the question to give Kimi an idea of the common thought among the humans who lived here.

"To everyone else, this fort seems like a twisted hell of its own trapped in complacency as if surrendering to making it work is a wrong answer. The Ice Biome is full of human settlements fighting each other with one particularly big one. Feeding off their warring state to fund their battles with the Fire Biome's only human faction that never ends in battles with Digimon factions. Those two Biomes are very much the apex of "Survival of the Fittest" with the ice mantra being domination through supply, and the fire mantra being domination through strength," Gryzmon disheartened explained his long sigh revealing he was quite against that mentality.

"Though not all others are bad the Sky Islands human faction are more a nomadic sort learning to work with the flying Digimon in their Biome in harmony. Though they do, butt heads once in a while those human and Digimon sky groups protect each other equally. Helps that there is no proper way to drag them into these turf wars thanks to living so dejected from the land. Of course, then you have the harshest of climates of all the Desert Factory Biome... let's just say it's best to avoid it if you can it's a dangerous mixed bag, and there are no true factions there are just groups of people trying to survive in a panic," Gryzmon looked to Gazimon for a second watching his student have fun as he was stolen another champion by Tentomons superior tactics.

"Thought that is where we are heading. We have a code me, and my protege to go where people need protecting. An old knight's mentality if you will "Bear" with my "rustic" way of thinking," the grizzly joked laughing a bit heartedly as he aimed to finish answering Kimi's question.

"Of course, you're probably asking yourself if that's all true then how does this faction still exist? Why hasn't it been overrun or torn apart... well that would be thanks to Gabriel himself. Next to no one is willing to attack one of the Eight Digi Destined as it were directly," the weight of the title given to how it was treated in the real world felt a different air to it. In the real world, that title was given to the good guys of the TV show, but with how Gryzmon spoke it, it sounded like it carried a mixed bag of dangerous elements.

"Boss they wouldn't probably know what that means here," Gazimon's ear lifted at that particular part of the conversation as he turned to the big furry champion. His attention was then pulled to noticing Mei was drawing something causing him to tilt his head in curiosity.

"Ah, that's true my apology," the bear nodded in agreement yet notably Gazimon was now paying more attention to the conversation.

"In your world, that's a title for heroes, but here it's a label of the apex survivors. The most dangerous humans on the island, each equal in destructive force to the next. This Fort stands without contest because no sane person is willing to go up against "Gabriel the Indomitable" that Palmon of his has never let harm come to him, and has never lost a fight. He is a long-timer for a reason. He adapted fast to what was needed... but he still kept his heart, and stood as a shield for those who couldn't," Gryzmon said with great respect as he was brought to Kimi's question about the fort leader himself.

"Unfortunately like I said the reason this Fort is seen as a hell. It comes to a dangerous decision... complacency. The acceptance that this is it for these folks no doubt weighs heavy on his mind. I once heard he aimed to help everyone escape with others, and even went as far as to make a more permanent place where humans could be safe without strife, but both fell apart. I don't know the stories myself they were a bit hushed from the use of wild Digimon, but the result is clear... it never came about," Gryzmon spoke accepting the rules of the island through a hint of pity that things couldn't be changed was laced in his eyes.

"At best you can say this Fort while standing is built on failures dwindled to mere pile of sticks," Gryzmon concluded expressing his take on Gabriel's reason for tired nature.

"Ahhhhh damn.... you're good," Gazimon was obliterated in his card game with Tentomon as she finished the last of his security cards wiped from the game. "Something else you should consider is don't think that title holds any honor to it. There are a few of those eight that are bad people," Gazimon growled not in his defeat, but clearly one of them came to mind, and in that same vein Gryzmon's smile temporarily disappeared thinking of the same person with dangerous intent to harm. Yet the anger was let go of with another sigh.

"It's hard to hold hope here if you're a human. For us wild Digimon it is the norm, it is life. For your lot, it is something you were pulled into by something even we have no inkling of understanding about," Gryzmon expressed.

"Yet I have seen many heroes, and villains of you humans. Hopefully, we will see good things about you Sky Fallers. "Bear" in mind you have made a good first impression so far, and I have hope that you will succeed where others fail no matter where you choose to go with this new life," Gryzmon spoke like a parent full of high hopes for a child. This was when Mei interjected with her comments on their resourcefulness.

"Boss was originally part of a group known as the "Knights". A key group of Digimon that's goal was to help humans stay safe, but they ran afoul of... sorry boss," Gazimon was about to go off on a tangent before noticing a stern look from his teacher.

"Please don't think I'll of it... that history ended only in sorry sadly no reason to dwell on it. Hahahaha permission is an interesting word of choice... this whole island is built on a sense of adventure. Everyone talks about everyone it's how everyone stays up to date with the island life. A good ole pot of honey of course," Gryzmon dejectedly smiled before patting his belly with a hearty laugh as he responded to Mei's proverbial stab.

"So whatcha drawing," Gazimon asked Mei before Grzymon asked a big question himself to all of them.

"In turn though offer me this if you would. What are you hoping to do now that you are here?"

"Well might want to get comfortable with them their a good 1/3 of the Digimon population. Viruses have good qualities you know can be turned into vaccines. Create life, take life, save life like any other. Nothing evil just cause it was made to be in that image," the Doctor mumbled to the girl's reaction not planning to stay on the topic long as Ace took out what she requested.

Dr. Tanaka took the ticket immediately noting Gabriel's signature pulling the cloth door wide open to reveal thankfully a more promising sight of some legit medical gear fitted chair. Around it was a rather what you would expect hut set up. The ground was covered in carpet evened out flat, the walls were circularly shaped and clothed, on the right, there was a big chest, and on the left a stand holding regular check-up devices. Much like everything it was clearly of older designs nothing high-tech nor close in fact. It was like Ji-Su had said everything seemed strangely dated to about 20's ago when it came to equipment.

Signalling them to come in leaving the door open to keep a better source of light in she motioned him to the chair she was quick to work feeling out his back, and legs quick to jump on what he was here for without a word needed. The overall examination took about an uncomfortable ten minutes as she tested his nerves, and reflexes consistently without saying anything.

During the process, the mollusk Digimon hummed elevator music to avoid the silence from adding to the without a doubt unbearable situation as it were. When it was all done she turned to Ruth who was holding a purple crystal like her life depended on it... probably did for her sanity thus the Doctor did not comment on it.

"Well your "just friend" is in a rough patch," Dr. Tanaka expressed with a disdained look as she moved over to the chest on the right of the room digging through some rather old medical devices as she explained further.

"You have a sprained back muscle luckily for you that will get better in time. Even if you were to push it for any reason it would still heal relatively well within the six-day period you got left before you digitize to the island," she expressed digging deeper looking for something particular it seemed as if her voice muffled further into the examination.

"Your bigger problem is your right leg is for a genuine sugar-coated turn of phrase: Completely fucked in all regards. You not only have a torn meniscus, and sprained ligaments yet have also incurred an ACL injury," The doctor said so casually as if such injuries while impressive were not mind-glowingly unique.

"Every once in a while you'll hear about a Sky Faller that offshoots from their shrine landing. Always ends up permanently worse for wear," she explained seeming to finally find something as her lower half halted my movement with her upper hand completely buried into the box.

"Good news is you'll make it past the minor sprained ligament, and given you are a healthy in shape individual you will probably be fine to a degree in recovery from the torn meniscus though not fully. The bad news is that anterior cruciate ligament injury is staying with you permanently in combination with the torn meniscus damage... you're going to have a hard life here," the Doctor was honest as she pulled herself out of the chest procuring a knee brace.

"Luckily for you when I was originally nabbed I was at a convention looking at knee brace prototypes and got myself nabbed with one in hand. This will be your best friend for the times ahead. Mind you this is not a solution to your problem. I wish I could do more, but once that seven-day timer is up my talents go out the door for the most part in what I can do for you," she spoke confidently, and surprisingly regretful that her skills could only help him so much given her rather stagnant nature up to this point. Yet it was like flickering light it was there for a moment before being replaced with a reminder of how here years here had been. For a moment, she felt like she was contributing to the solution of a patient's problems like so long ago. Yet her eyes now lost from that spark turned back to Ruth, and Ace as she asked an important question.

As the group moved in a split moment Raven caught a look from Eliam... and suddenly she felt... regret. It was right at her reaction to Arii saying fakemon. At first, Raven was stalwart that Chel had given them a reason to hold that secret yet she was starting to have thoughts about it. The suspicion Eliam probably had now fueling that problem.

Raven watched as Arii shot up the tree rather bizarrely like a sloth on cocaine. It was such a strange style of climbing, yet, Arii was quickly a dot above them slithering past the branches as Raven returned her attention to the slime around them as everyone was investigating the scene. As they looked about a few minutes in Arii came sliding down out of the blue landing with precision as they seemed to remove a small splinter luckily in a trick that should have gained many. Before anyone could ask the Arii produced their question showing them a charcoal leaf footprint... Raven didn't blink surprised by how big it was.

"I second that," Wormmon softly spoke up in agreement with Lopmon over the stench the latter took to the sky to scout things out as the rest continued with the ground investigation.

From the side, Commandramon poked out securing the point for his partner. Ji-Su herself didn't seem very interested in the paw print against the wreckage. With a small test, Ji-su showed them that the slime was flammable which helped expand the picture. Impmon spoke up saying some fire Digimon which he then covered his mouth as if speaking was bad.

"I think the dangers are long gone from here buddy," Wormmon spoke still on Impmons head patting him to calm his nerves ironically in a moment where she's seemed chilled at the moment surprisingly.

"I am starting to think we should have nudged Kimi a little," Raven spoke honestly unable to take a guess herself, but having a feeling Kimi a more Digimon fan than the rest probably could give them a tight list of ideas. While her brother was a huge Digimon aficionado, Raven herself was limited to whatever was in his deck for his competitions. Flamdramon came to mind, but those only had three toes which were bladed not paw-like. Her thoughts were broken as Commandramon/Ji-su spoke up explaining the layout of the attack in tandem themselves.

This was followed up by an estimation of how many had been involved from the sounds of it 4 humanoids, and one giant cat were involved in the attacking side of things. Impmon spoke again pointing out the obvious problem that everyone was trying not to think about... the potential that this was a recovery over a rescue. Raven felt that wince of regret again as Eliam passed her by given Salamon orders to go inspect a bit out around the parameter.

Raven turned to the right as Lopmon came down excitedly with some results: Dried slimed robes. Roisin then concluded that as hinted this had indeed been an attack carried out days ago with the only reason it appeared fresh being that the burning slime had paused the healing factory of the land.

"If that's the case, given how close this is to the fort means, they were probably attacked the same day they headed out. This attack was more than three days ago," Raven pointed out an even bigger sign of the issue. As this went on Lopmon got excited pulling everyone's attention as without warning the bunny sprinted off in a random direction talking about something shiny.

At the same time, Salamon shouted out she had found the trail which thankfully coincided with where Lopmon was heading concerned with Roisin heading off so fast Raven gave chase not noticing Eliams strange behavior which caused Wormmon in a panic to finally jump off Impmons head straight onto Raven back rather impressively.

"Raven wait I thought we weren't supposed to run into the unknown," Wormmon spoke in her returning panic as this was now off course completely.

"Not supposed to, but no one is going anywhere alone," Raven spoke explaining her reasoning for chasing after as Lopmon kept moving the chase would be a definite few good minutes. A cliffside on the left started to arch up the more they ran after Lopmon to the point it covered them from the sun shading them as they entered a more dense area of the forest with vegetation more stacked up. Yet as Lopmon neared her destination passing a rather prominent boulder a small clearing was revealed on the scene.

The new area was rather well tended strangely enough a perfect square shape. The trees that made its borders almost perfectly systematically set. Other than the boulder covered in foliage, and tree limbs right near its border it was flawless. On the further left point, a mound of tampered dirt was barely shown by one of the few rays of light that broke past the heavy foliage.

Along with that near the cliff wall was a strange pile of something unidentifiable at a distance seeming metallic but blotched like mud. Not used to running like a crazy person though Raven found herself a bit out of breath placing a hand on the boulder as she tried to catch her breath.

"Holy mother Lopmon... Roison... we need...," Raven went silent as her eyes grew wide. As Lopmon turned back to the group, in her ears was a digivice with a shattered screen with the words "Disconnected" in bright red blinking like a dying phone battery.

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

They huffed a breath through their nose, having found a perch atop a fallen log in the time it took the group to somewhat re-coalesce. Róisín found her way next to them, but didn't add anything in particular that Arii didn't already know. "Quad, unless it stepped forward and suddenly gained dewclaws."

Their eyes flicked to Impmon as he was speaking, an uncomfortable prickling beginning to set into the curve of their spine. Nerves. Concern, really. They dug their fingers into the bark of the log they stood atop and rocked their shoulders, almost like a hunting cat, though it seemed more of a self-soothing motion for them. They took the time to mentally ping where all of their teammates were, and after perhaps a little too long of silence, they spoke again. "If we're returning with bad news, we're also bringing proof." What proof, they didn't know. Proof of hunts were limbs, or racks, and they doubted the scouts had dog tags on. Something. The wreckage was their best bet. "Let the flames burn down, if it hasn't healed over after 3 days, and they really are dead, it would make a decent grave."

Skyfaller 11 and his partner were keeping close. Their nerves flared up their neck, fueling their headache. They couldn't see them very well—without their glasses, they were mostly indistinct, doubled-over blobs of mostly-defined color—but they were reasonably sure their mouths were moving. Suspicion was their first instinct. Suspicion and almost immediately after, frustration, when Lopmon darted off and not just Róisín but Green and her partner went tearing off through the dead leaves with the monstrous sound of crackling all at once.

Their heartbeat paused in their chest.

Panic, demanded their brain as they remembered the locations of the rest of the group, all spread through the clearing. They did not. They did not, even though they wanted to so, so, so bad. Even though they felt the strain in the back of their mind, where their subconscious' breaking point lay.

Their cover was as good as gone. With the talking and the run through the forest, anything with ears knew they were there. Prey had likely vacated the area, and the expert ambush hunters that the scene had revealed would not be easy to sneak up on with such spontanenuity. Unless one of them literally turned their back to someone, which was frankly, terribly unlikely.

Their choice was made before Green and Róisín were even out of sight in the swallowing darkness of the treeline. "Everyone move," they snapped, voice raised into a sharp bark of command. They sprung from their log perch, shoving the closest person-shaped blob—Impmon—toward the still-crackling wake of their apparent trap-springers. "We don't want to be caught in small groups." Sometimes they wished they still had their walking stick so they could rap at people's ankles when they didn't move, because something in Arii's mind was screaming and it wasn't the good hunting scream, it was the hunted scream, and the sun blazed down at their neck like an open wound, and they needed cover

Keeping as many of the group as they could in front of them and in their sight at the same time, Arii herded those who they could gather to through the dense trees and through the disturbed leaf path the others had left. They kept a keen eye for forest traps, so when the light increased suddenly, they slowed just as suddenly. They didn't skid, but they killed their momentum with an odd sort of hop.

Beyond, they could pick out the shadowed figures of Green and Róisín. Further, Lopmon, holding up... something.

Further than that, a well-maintained clearing. The hairs on the back of their neck rose, and they dropped lower in their stance, not creeping yet, but slower and far more careful. By the time they were up by Green—two arm's lengths away despite that—they were back to that all-fours slink, wide eyes staring into the sunlit meadow like a prey animal stuck in front of a lion. Their eyes hit the digivice only after they'd done a full visual sweep of the odd clearing. "I don't like this," they said, and it was a low, careful noise. They were also panting, unused to sustained bursts of energy, and especially so after being in college for a few months, but they muffled the sound of it in the back of their mouth. It made them look kind of like a dog. Again.

They hunched a little further to the ground, their stomach almost scraping dried leaves. It felt too obvious for an ambush point. Far, far too obvious. It still made their hair stand on end. Not for the first time, they really, really wished their siblings had been there.

And they were really, really starting to hate being in this group.

Ace was quiet as the doctor began her explanation, albeit mildly vexed as the doctor went into full detail about his injuries in front of Ruth. He was trying to follow along, but the news felt like one gut punch after another. A sprained back, torn meniscus, sprained ligaments and a torn ACL? He appreciated her levelling with him but hearing it so bluntly hit hard. He wished she had let him tell Ruth himself, especially considering how, in her words, "completely fucked" he was. The thought of being a burden, of her worrying about him, gnawed at him. He knew how much she and the others already had on her plate.

As Dr. Tanaka pulled out the knee brace and spoke about the seven-day mark, Ace felt his stomach drop. He knew what that meant. Becoming fully digital meant his injuries would be locked in, permanent. There’d be no going back, no hope of fixing what was broken. He shot a glance at Ruth and Cutemon, hoping to gauge their reactions. The fairy Digimon fidgeted with its paws, clearly absorbing the weight of what was being said, before it's big, innocent eyes flicked up to meet his. Locking eyes, Cutemon’s ears perked up as they attempted put on a brave face, though they were clearly struggling.

Swallowing hard, Ace gave a slight nod before addressing the doctor. His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it, like he was trying to keep it together in spite of everything. “I’m... aware of what happens at the seven-day mark." He looked down at Cutemon for a second, forcing a small, tired smile, then met the doctor's eyes. "But now that I know what I'm dealing with, I guess I better start getting used to it."

Once again Ji-Su found something new to grab her attention thanks to Raven, and more accurately Lopmon, the South Korea soldier found herself arriving to the scene just behind Róisín (OOC note, to be detailed/expanded on upon them later) who had made it to the device first, it was a digivice, same as all the rest. Damaged, error locked. Once Róisín had her look, Ji-Su took it in hand, with something of a tech head obsession, as Commandramon decided to study the nearby prints leading to around the tree. The Cyborg would not be too far away for this task.

"Hmm... Something, very, very strong did this. Nothing back there is responsible for it." Proceeding to press the devices buttons not much happened, that was until she got a prompt by putting her own device near it. Which on that note she calls out; "Commandramon! Found anything else?" The blue dinosaur commando would reply in quick order.

"The tracks run into the face of a cliff and then vanish."
Was the quick reply, as she allowed her own device to link, a single message was open to being played. Hitting the button she waits to see just what it was. While Arii did whatever they were, Ji-Su didn't fear the enemy or an ambush, her curiosity and trust in Commandramon's fighting skills was good enough, and part of her did want to spring whatever trap could be waiting, regardless this mystery needed solving, she had a working theory in her head as to what happened to the scout team, but the message was the only thing that could confirm it.

Kimi smiled at Gryzmon, though in his kindness he had left her in a pickle. She furrowed her brow, as she tried to deduce how to eat her pineapple with no free hands. Politeness unfortunately outweighed guidance, as Kimi listened to Gryzmon and tried to solve her small dilemma, leaving Gazimon at the mercy of her own protégé.

Tentomon was buzzing. This was her debut game and she wanted to impress. While Kimi had proposed refereeing, the rookie could see that her mind was elsewhere, so she decided to do it in her stead. "So next step is to digivolve. It's usually your best option"

Which Gazimon did, turning his Patamon into Piddomon. The yellow champion was a very good blocker Tentomon knew from playing Kimi and Tentomon wanted to attack. She needed a way to get rid of it. Luckily she did, two of her little hands rubbing together mischievously, if he attacked that is....

As the bear spoke, she placed a segment between her teeth. She hadn't noticed the lack of fighters in all honesty. There had been fear when they had arrived, but they had arrived on the back of MetalSeadramon, a Mega level and they had still held their spears. None of her own group had struck her as fighters...

She took a moment to think, her mouth full of pineapple. Maybe... Roisin or... Ace? Ari perhaps? Raven and Mei had spirit to be sure but none of them were fighters. Gryzmon's talk of peaceful intention however derailed that train of thought. And his sad eyes. There was a difference in being able to fight and wanting to fight. She reached out to touch the big bear but her hands were slick with juice. Kimi twisted the other slice in her hand and took hold of it's skin, finally taking a bite of the one in her mouth. Though his question was rhetoric, Kimi wanted to say something smart, something profound but she couldn't find the words, mumbling to herself "because it's right" as she gulped down her bite.

Meanwhile the battle raged on the battlefield below. Tentomon had digivolved her own card into a Tortomon, who was backed by Terriermon, her friend Lopmon's cream coloured cousin. However Gazimon was growing accustomed to Kimi's Grandslam deck and having another copy of Piddomon which was being kept on defence, smart, as well as a Bushi-Agumon. She wondered how the actual living lizard would have thought, seeing himself dueling but he had long gone it seemed. She attacked B-A with Tortomon, playing into a gleeful Gazimon's hand as she was forced to attack him instead. With a 1000 less DP, her champion would surely lose! Unless she had another green Digimon in hand.... White gave way to green as Tentomon revealed her card...

The conversation became deeper, darker, than expected as the champion talked of other biomes and factions and her own misjudgement of Gabriel. From what Gryzmon had said he was kind, caring and strong. Never judge a book by it's cover came to mind, which made her think. She was never usually this negative... What had changed? She looked at Tentomon, enjoying herself. Maybe this was how Gabriel steadily felt when he had arrived? Whatever this was. Before his dreams were shattered...

Tentomon crackled with joy. She had won. "I won Kimi! I won!" she chirped, making Kimi smile.

"You were good too. You were really getting the hang of it" stated Tentomon. She got off their makeshift blanket and walked towards him. "Just a little more practice. I think he should have played slower right Kimi?"

Kimi nodded, her attention divided by her partner and her bear friend, the latter praising them all. "Lemme show ya." Tentomon sat behind Gazimon, taking his paws into her hands and resting her head on his shoulder. She placed his hand on Kimi's deck and showed him how she would have done it...

Kimi finished the last of her pineapple slices. "Well I promise not to give up hope" she said softly "Especially with Digimon like you out there"

She looked at the two G-mon in turn, before the bigger of the two proposed a question. "I don't know..." she stated, scanning the ground absently before coming to an answer to the champions question. "Help"

--------------------

She had seen it briefly on her glide down from the trees and gave it no further thought. But for some reason from atop Roísín's head when approaching the group, every instinct and motion inside her forced her to move, to leap and bound, straight towards that glint of light.

Just as when climbing to the canopy, Lopmon's brief bursts of flight were greatly enhanced as she would land and perch on the odd branch, or catch a hold with her ears, in both cases using the momentum to keep moving and never falter. Though not as agile as the Digimon, Róisín rushed after their partner and just kept a little behind, briefly stumbling on a root here or there, but never falling, never letting the Bunny out of their sight for too long.

Soon enough the dense forest pulled itself back to reveal a clearing, momentarily slowing Róisín from not only the suddenness of it, but of how well kept it was. That pause gave Lopmon the time to rush straight for the object laying out in the bright sun, the Bunny using their ears to glide gracefully to a halt before the dust covered item.

"Look look! I found it! It's..."

They were so excited to find it, to see it from so far away. They would make Róisín proud, maybe it would help them get home. But as her little paws helped wipe the dried dust and dirt from it, the familiar sight of a digivice revealed itself, as well as what was wrong with it.

The others were already arriving, Róisín could hear a panting Raven from behind before the young woman rested a little against the large boulder to catch their breath. She'll have to apologise to her, to everyone, it was very stupid for anyone to just go running off and...who was she kidding, it was exactly something she herself would do. But still, she'll apologise and...

"Lop...?"

She had seen Lopmon excitedly digging up something before she got distracted with the clearing, but now the Digimon just stood there, back to the group and silent. Silence was something Róisín hadn't seen much from Lopmon so far, and as she approached her partner tentatively the Bunny turned to reveal the broken 'Disconnected' blinking sight of a digivice.

"...oh..."

Her heart dropped at the sight of it, and even more so as Lopmon gently placed the device into her open hands. The screen was fully cracked, and judging how little harm came to her own when she landed the day before, it meant something even more sudden and violent struck this with enough force to almost shatter the screen completely.

While the remainder of the group slowly arrived, Roísín's pressing of buttons gave no input or sign of it working, except for the same blinking 'Disconnected' message. Taking notice of Commandramon heading off to check some tracks, Róisín turned to find Ji-Su close to her and promptly offered the digivice to her.

"Here, I'm sure you'll have better luck than I." As Ji-Su took the device off Róisín and began to look over it herself, the red haired woman felt, once again, the familiar bump of Lopmon landing on her shoulder perch, but ears drooping low.

"I'm sorry Róisín..."

"It's ok, Lop...you shouldn't have ran off...but you did good in the end. Give me a little more of a heads up next time, ok?"

Getting a bit of a vigorous nod from her Partner, Róisín relaxed enough to smile a little, taking the moment to really look at the clearing and others. Raven slumped slightly against the boulder with a clinging Wormmon, Ji-Su continued to examine the digivice as Commandramon was making their way back, even Arii was there at the border of the clearing...

Arii...shit, she'll definitely have to apologise to them. They were perhaps a bit overzealous in their approach to organizing the group on this scouting, but still, out of everyone there besides Ji-Su, they were the most knowledgeable and 'seemingly' experienced in survival and hunting.

"What's that?"

Just as Róisín was about to make their way towards the crouching Arii, Lopmon gently patted the red haired head with one ear while pointing with another.

"What's what?"

"There! Something...metally in the mud..."

It was covered in dirt, small splotches of mud, and kept in the shade of the cliff, but there was definitely something there. Taking a moment to look back at the others and before Lopmon could set off on her own again, Róisín turned and started walking tentatively towards the cliff, more and more of the thing becoming clearer as she grew closer.

"What the fu...?"

It was...pointy...at least on the end sticking out of the ground. Though coated in dirt, strange markings...symbols maybe...could be made out and showed to surround the dome-like end as she crouched down and started to unearth it. It took a moment, but soon enough Róisín stood holding something that resembled a canister, or time capsule, oblong in shape and mirrored on either end. The central part moved though. Broken into 5 different dials and each sporting a different colour, they spun with a click at each symbol, 6 in total, before returning to the start of the order.

"Ohh, looks pretty. I like numbers!"

"Numbers...?"

"Yeah! See? This is one, and this is two..."

As Lopmon began to talk to Róisín in the way someone would explain to a toddler, the young woman spun the whole item in her hands to keep up with Lopmon's counting, finding each dial had the same numbers in the same order. Numbers were easy to follow, and remembering seeing similar symbols on Salamon's collar, her next train of thought returned to the symbols on the ends.

"Ok...So what do these say?" She asked while offering the item to her partner, the Bunny taking it within her ears as she sat atop Roísín's head.

"Oh yeah!.............I've no idea...sorry!"

Giving a tired sigh and shake of her head in return, Róisín started to make her way back to the others, leaving Lopmon perched atop her to handle the strange puzzle in silence.

“Ara? I think joining your ranks would take a group discussion. Bear in mind that we can’t make a decision for everyone. It might be easier for you to join our ranks instead,” Mei said offhand focused on trying to make sure the eyebrows she drew were twins not sisters. While it was left unsaid it was implicitly implied that the pair would be on the lower end of the ranks. Unless they chose to be someone’s partners Black Gabumon would be above them as head servant.

Counting the days since they arrived the weather should be shifting as early as tomorrow so hopefully the rest of the group would be alright if it rained. It could wash away their inhibitions but also clues to what happened to those they were looking for. Some of them should feel the rain on their skin and let it in though so maybe rain would be the best option since they refused to bath before heading out. It would be really hard if after seven days everyone else ended up being stuck as stinky.

“I guess the digital world is like the real world then,” Mei said shading in a card roughly until it looked like a reflection of her thoughts. If that was the case her wish might not come true,” everyone has their own battles their fighting in their own way. Gabumon left parentheses Black right parentheses will probably fight early baldness.”

Nothing of what the bear said was wrong though since its how the world worked. Everyone just had too narrow mindset of what peace was but to achieve a peaceful utopia would be impossible without inflicting violence on others. Most people wanted an acceptable violence. Mei was glad the children Digimon were not paying attention to the conversation since it might be a bit heavy for them.

“Oh? Complacency is just violence against oneself isn't it? So I wouldn’t consider this place peaceful anymore than the others but it sounds like this fort is fighting against everyone else’s ideals. Then again there is no issue with seeking respite if the world gets too much to bear. With your stance it seems you should have had more than enough reason to introduce yourself to Gabriel.”

Mei sorted through the information they were given. Everyone seemed to have a lot to say and each person as biased as the last. More so than Chel and Gabriel this Digimon pair seemed like they would be on the level of the others. She could see Kimi convincing them to let them tag along to the desert region since there was safety in numbers. Maybe Mei should have majored in math since something just didn’t seem to be adding up about the situation. It seemed like this encounter was the right solution for this chapter of their adventure but the work seemed strangely nonexistent. There were more than 8 people in their group of sky fallers wasn’t there?

Kimi, Leo, Ace, Ruth, Raven, Ji-Su, Eliam, Arii, Róisín…that was nine so maybe Arii and Ruth shared a spot? Arii could probably take the place of impmon or else impmon the place of Ruth...hmmm.

Oh well! This wasn’t the real world after all so everything would turn out fine. Even if Kimi’s new friends lied about their names. They would be the new 8 Digi Destined with their digi-partners they met along the way...

Ara? it seems prickly no wait bushi Agumon left that was no good. Mei would need to track him down later and make sure he reconnected with Kimi so their relationship would be fine. Much better he team up with her than stay in town with someone with the same title as the Indomitable Snowman when Cool Kimi was way better sounding. Speaking of him it seemed Mei was right of Gabriel's mental state not being the best based on their first meeting. His ideals would slowly eat away at him like a medicine turned poison. He would serve as a good lesson so it was really lucky both Kimi and Ruth stayed behind since they would need it most.

“Ara? I’m sure people say you are quite the white knight searching for your barrel of honey or maybe a parfait,” Mei said. Maybe she would need to be a dragon in the future like meilificant or something to help him and kimi bond. Black Gabumon could cosplay something cute with her like a stand-up chest if they could sing an operatic C sharp. Given Gryzmons belly pat it was clear Digimon could be fat so Mei would need to make sure Black Gabumon felt comfortable no matter what shape they developed into.

“My cards since playing with a memorized deck standardizes matches down to luck rather than strategy,” Mei said to Gazimon collecting her finished cards in hand.

“What I would do… is a se~ ca~ ret~,” she said smiling, “Sometimes it’s best to keep your cards close to your chest,” Mei finished fanning her cards out in front of her mouth. Now hidden it was clear the cheeky smile did not carry to her eyes in a warning not to press further. After all, if you told people you wishes they wouldn’t come true and she really really wanted to make a precious memory. While may be one for Kimi with the conversation strengthening her resolve and Tentomon was teaching Gazimon how to play the card game this moment didn’t feel like one for Mei.

Well time to ruin it.

"OHOHOHO," Mei pealed out full of villianess haughtiness to draw attention. The more a crowd formed the more they could witness Kimi's coolness rather than whatever Leo and Dracumon might do. Suck it Bushi Agumon.

"Well Cool Kimi luckily for you to be graced with the privilege of helping yourself by facing me. While your friend is hesitant to duel for the sake of this village I do hope you wont turn the other cheek. After all, how else am I suppose to teach you the good way to lose! OHOHOHOHO~"

”What?” Ruth croaked in disbelief. She knew virus types are part of the digital world, but she still believed that such evil could be qualified as part of the population. It was almost considered a joke. As the doctor continued her information rant, Ruth realized she was right. She had forgotten something simple. Nothing is permanent and even if the universe wanted to prank her, there is a possibility Impmon could turn out to be a vaccine in his future evolutions. Then that means Ruth will have to feel differently about Impmon, which isn’t bad, but it is complicated now. What if she finds out it’s all virus evolutions? It would mean she has tainted herself because of curiosity. No! Anything but that outcome. The world truly would be a cruel place to live in.

Ruth was soon pulled out of her head as Dr.Tanaka granted them access to enter the tent. Inside was like a wonderland for Ruth. Actual medical gear to obsess over as well as help diagnose Alex’s condition. How lucky for her close friend to be attended quickly and under short notice. It’s a good step in the right direction. Ruth observed the doctor as if she were an apprentice of hers. The blonde even took notes in her sketch pad for future reference. If ever Alex or the others are injured from below, she could similarly assess them.

Ruth is still a rookie in the medical field, she has only been to certain classes for about a year. It wasn’t enough for her to educate herself on the importance of dealing with patients, though she had some ideas. As a teen, she learned quickly with learning how to remedy people in dire situations by using the internet. Living alone with no supervision had its perks and she is prepared to dive in and help the wounded.

As Dr.Tanaka examines Alex, her cheeks become rosy, and instantly glares at the lady. She was not amused by her teasing even if it was subconsciously. She is just glad Alex is indifferent about it. The news had Ruth mirroring Cutemon, twiddling her thumbs in anticipation as she went on to say their back muscle was sprained. That’s not bad as long as nothing is broken. That could be healed with ice and a heating pack. When she heard the outcome of his leg.

Her heart dropped and she could see Alex’s fear and concern. She can imagine so many thoughts swirling in his mind. His body is the most important thing to him, especially given his dream of becoming a great athlete. To be told he’s practically paralyzed all because of this strange event that had dragged everyone into an unknown territory is ridiculous. Ruth felt her blood boil on behalf of Alex. He’s probably going to pretend like it’s okay when that is not true.

Ruth squeezes Alex’s shoulder. Her expression hardened as if determined to help. ”That’s not bad at all. That can be treated with therapy and R.I.C.E.” To them that might have sounded insane but she also doesn’t know how long the doctor has been a fallen. Maybe a few days or a year. It didn’t matter. What Ruth did remember from videos and reading is such a condition can be fixed. ”The abbreviation for: rest, ice, compression on the knee and elevate the leg. Of course…that also means he will have to be lying down most of the time, but what’s a week or two? Sure, that also might mean he needs surgery if it’s severe, but it’s possible, right? Even with the seven-day mark.”

Ruth looked at each one of them. She might be wrong, or even feeding into hope, but the blonde wanted to find a way. She balls her other hand into a shaking fist. ”There is always another way.” She locks eyes on Alex. ”And I will help you find it. The digital world is filled with possibilities with how crazy this place is. I remember that from the shows. So…don’t give up. It’s not the end.”

The mollusk digmons head turned into the tent at the resounding yelp Ruth let out a yelp of thought on the implication of her partner's line. Humorous as it was the doctor kept a straight face, she had noticed the girl's wonderland-like glaze over her setup. With the way she was looking at all the equipment plus her satchel the doctor realized... she might have a fellow medical field soul in her tent. A thought that was fueled as the girl took literal notes as the Doctor spoke.

Dr. Tanaka watched the boy's expressions, his face said it all, but his words helped solidify the level of understanding he had of his situation and the implications it had further down the road. She let it settle in for a few minutes as the boy turned to his friends both his partner and girl... friend were having fidgeting natures. Anxiety from the truth... the boy's smile was laced with a pressure of emotions.

"...," The doctor was about to speak again, but Ruth's sudden tangent caught her lips too close as Ruth ran down a medical strategy that could help. So Dr. Tanaka was correct the girl was an understudy in the medical field. The older woman was happy to hear the strategy Ruth put down it had been a while since she had seen someone with a background like her own.

"That's all good, and splendid an assessment if these were wounds he received after the seven-day marker you would be correct. Yet that's the problem. We all come into this world alive, and organic. Yet once we digitized on the seventh day were in a permanent condition given your situation you only have six days," Dr. Tanaka explained feeling for Ruth's want to heal her friend, but this was an unfortunate series of circumstances Ruth was dealing with any other time had this accrued Ruth could have pulled it off.

"R.I.C.E is a wonderful thing for you to consider implementing I would give you gold stars for it. You might even be able to get him past his torn meniscus damage, but in the end, his ACL Injury will remain. Unfortunately, it will be coded into him permanently," the older woman continued. She wanted Ruth to be rewarded for her knowledge, but the look she gave the younger girl was clear... she wouldn't make the mark. With Ace traveling with someone who could work on his condition, his chances were indeed raised. Yet Ruth's biggest enemy on the matter... was time, and no medical practitioner could cure that condition. Though what Ruth had to say next pierced the doctor differently... hope... that was medicine in short supply.

"No its not. Listen I know you're not going to stay here young man I can see it on your face. You're not the type to hold still I imagine, but if that's the case you need to listen to this girl and let her treat you as she can alright? Now atop that, there is something major you need to make sure you do," Dr. Tanaka opened the brace showing Ace how the latches worked before handing it over to him.

"For the next five days, you need to keep this on. However on the sixth day in the morning, you need, and I mean this need to take it off for the day. Tension will help, but the longer it's on the more it will agitate your skin in compression. Ergo to elevate creating a secondary problem this must be off on the sixth day for the whole day," the doctor's face was as serious as one could get as she continued.

"However, once the sun sets you put it right back on. Digitizing is a fickled process holding something during it doesn't for sure mean it will go through it with you, but if this is latched onto you when it kicks off this brace will become near undestroyable as the rest of the clothing you wear now will," she was serious as oddball as what she said sounded it was evident with the look in her eye that she was dead serious.

"As for you young lady... it's nice to hear a fellow medic in my midst," the woman walked over to Ruth cupping the girl's shaking fists.

"That want your feeling to take care of others... you hold onto that. You will need it for the road ahead," she spoke before patting the girl on the shoulder slipping a few small supplies like bandages, syringes, alcohol swabs, and some minor headache medicine.

"Cause regardless of us being digital, medicine still works here so you keep it up," Dr. Tanaka expressed before opening the curtain to let them out. A bit of a buzz of energy could be heard outside as something rather energetic could be heard off in the distance as something was handing out fliers. Upon noticing the three humans at the tent the white, and green blur sprinted for the tent with excitement.

"That's the "bear" minimum a team should have," Gryzmon laughed full-heartedly as Mei made her bear pun. The well-dressed woman was a strange one, and though he felt an odd presence of expected servitude she at least had a good joking nature.

The bear chuckled in addition to Tentomons energy at the defeat of his protege Gazimon was a good student, but he had a lot to learn after all. Yet thankfully he wasn't a sore loser as the smaller G-mons hands were quickly overtaken by Tentomons turning him into a puppet for her use as the reward of her victory. The adorable sight caused the bear to smile his eyes lighting up at the genuine scene it was nice to see peace... it was something the bear cared for deeply.

Kimi's reactions to the bear's words gave much to her character to the brown grizzly with a hat. Gryzmon could tell she was a good person especially when she mumbled a righteous sentence through juicy bites of pineapple. She reminded him of a very good friend, in fact as though he spoke the truth Kimi was not pushed by it the truth seemed to energize her more than anything else.

"Please... let me keep some of my pride," Gazimon weakly chuckled as the bug took him over some strategies he hadn't considered. He was surprisingly very attentive to what she had to show him and asked questions on particular tactics. Gryzmon turned to Kimi as she finished her slices before confidently yet softly confirming her will to the fuzzy big bear.

Mei's own opinion as she drew her card caused Gazimon to tilt his head in confusion... battle against baldness? What was with all the extra words too. the grey digimon found it hard to follow Mei's speaking patterns.

"With humans like you out there I think Hope might be able to "Bear" a few more good years left in it," her answer widened his smile as he nodded. "That's a good answer." However, as Mei pointed out they had more than enough reason to stay at the fort, and should meet Gabriel... well Gryzmon, and Gazimon had a look that said otherwise against that.

"Maybe someday... right now we are tracking some bad people. If I am to retire I want to see things solved first. Indeed after that, I could see myself providing myself as a shield to this place," Gryzmon expressed, but left it there as Gazimon leaned back into Tentomon as he pointed at the card around Kimi's neck.

"So what's the deal with that card? Is it rare," the smaller furball asked out of interest given it had a picture of the rather powerful entity on it.

"Never had a parfait before I assume since it is placed next to the best food in the world it must be rather delicious," Gryzmon commented to Mei he was curious as she explained she was making her cards. Seemed she had quite a few talents for such a strange woman. Though her play on the word secret made him raise a brown-furred brow.

Gazimon jolted a bit in his spot as Mei released a bizarre laugh even causing the people watching, and Gryzmon himself to be surprised as it came out of nowhere. In a rather dramatic flared action Mei brought the whole area's attention onto Kimi, and herself promising a powerful display of sportsmanship causing some people to come closer to see what was going on. At the same time ironically, Mei's goals had people start to believe this was some sort of stage plaything as they thought Mei was a villain, and Kimi the heroine of destiny to be decided by a children's card game... in the grand scheme of Mei's powerful performance people even started to chat Kimi's given title in excitement to see where this would go.

Out fair in the distance over by the bathhouse, one such brown-robbed individual started to have violent bursts of shakes at Mei's performance daring to cheer up these humans.

As Raven caught her breath holding onto the boulder that was now the only reason she was able to stand at all she continued to huff like a wild person. Humorously enough when they had been running she had sworn she had heard Arii bark something out, but she was confident that was the lack of oxygen reaching her lungs at the moment. As her heart rate lowered ironically she could hear some rustling from behind her spotting Arii rather quickly... one sec.

Arii, Roisin, Ji-su, Wormmon, Commandramon, and Lopmon... where were Eliam, and Salamon? Oh wait. A bit further out they spotted them out in the foliage so Raven returned to breathing. Eliam would more than likely get closer once they were done with... whatever they were doing as long as she could see a hint of them in the distance it was fine. With that cleared up, she returned to the bigger problem... Lopmon's discovery she watched.. why was Arii almost on all fours? Raven watched confused as Arii moved like an animal her eyes following them as they stared at the light like an animal caught. She had several questions as Wormmon whispered.

"Can Arii see ghosts?"

"I highly doubt it."

"Oh... that's weird."

Raven shook the thought out of her head as Ji-su, and Roisin played around with the damaged device as Commandramon solidified his findings to the group at Ji-Su's behest. However, Ji-Su's words on something stronger having damaged the device made her breath slow down. If that's the case where was it? Just then Raven stood up straight as Roisin and Lopmon headed over to the cliff wall. As Ji-Su played with the device some more Roisin suddenly revealed a.

"Oh that's a puzzle box," Raven called out to Roisin who went over it as Lopmon spoke up revealing it used some sort of Roman numeral system... mixed in with digi language. From what Raven could see the colors from left to right for the dials were red, blue, purple, orange, and green. Easy enough, without any hint of the puzzle itself though there was no way to solve it was there. Raven laughed hesitantly as Lopmon got Roisin excited only to reveal she could read the language... well that was a bust.

1726870103446.png

Still keeping a hand on the boulder Raven started to feel a weird sensation crawl up her spine. There was a strange whipping noise small, but very close it felt as though no one else seemed to hear it. Believing her nerves were simply getting to her she ignored it for now, and that's when it happened. As Ji-Su pushed the play button a message played right as Impmon caught speaking up some thoughts as Ji-Su's digivice sounded off.

"Digivice message received playing back preserved message"

"Seem to be what we thought. It was some marauding punks... we can handle this home base. Not the first time we tussled with organized rookies... or even a champion. Though that trap was pretty damn clever.. &&*(&*^*(^&^&*(^

DAMMIT WORK TELL ME YOU RECORDED ALL THAT SHIT SHIT... SORA WATCH OUT. &*&)*&)*(*(&

It... it just gobbled her up... I watched the ground turn into purple flames, and watched as Sora was just gobbled up... she screamed to be forgiven by someone... I don't know who. I just ran when I saw her partner Biyomon blow up in front of me. I knew she was dead... Falcomon did what he could, but that thing... it played around with him like he was a cat toy. I have never seen a Digimon like that, there isn't supposed to be anything that strong around here.

"I left my best friend behind and abandoned my partner. Gabriel some things out to get us, man. Right before it killed Sora it asked her if she had been forgiven. Repented? What the hell does it mean... it didn't even have to attack to turn Falcomon into dust... it just swatted him away, and he was gone... Everyone needs to evacuate I saw others %^*^%%*^%"

The message garbled as the one speaking screamed running for his life as the sound of explosions could be heard behind him. The constant fast pacing and shuffling sounds told them he ran for quite a while until he was forced to stop. The male's voice was heaving extremely panicked with a notable Latin accent. The garbled-up parts must have retained what would have been valuable information, but there was no thinking on that now as it picked back up.

"No no no no the cliff shouldn't be here... this is all wrong Gabriel PLEASE I DONT WANT TO DIE LIKE THIS..."

"Tell me child do you know your sin?"

The new voice was stained with a heavy absence of empathy, it was lazy-like, bored even. Yet it sounded so certain of its question having meaning with an overwhelming strength of control. Whatever it was had this man cornered long before they were even aware of it. That's how powerful its voice alone came off.

"Send the message, Gabriel... don't blame yourself for this we did this to ourselves." The male responded. This was followed by an extreme scream before something loud cackled from the message, as the message ended with a powerful thump, it was clear he had been hit off the cliff, the hit that most likely damaged the device itself.

"Error digivice man battery dead... message unable to send wifi antenna damaged... reverting to back up the battery until secondary digivice can connect for downl...," the message died as the screen of the broken digivice in Ji-Su's hands went completely black.

"Can we be scared now?"

"Ya... ya we can," Raven whispered in response to Wormmon as she looked at the other... this had not been what they had expected, and now it seemed like they were way in over their heads. Raven couldn't even say anything she looked to Ji-Su and Roisin's reactions as well as Arii's. If they were right this attack had happened the same day they had left the fort. That was three days ago...

"Let's collect our nerves for a moment, and decide what we're going to do..." Raven suggested her brain trying to comprehend that death had indeed taken place on this clearing. She had no experience of human life being lost before which was evident as her once bright bravado had lost the wind under its sails with no backup plan at the moment. After a minute or two of this Raven had a thought...

"I think we should look for Sora's Digivice, and send someone to warn the Fort... Impmon?"

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

They're dead.

That was the first—unbidden—thought they had, staring at the near-shattered digivice, its morbid last words echoing just slightly in the bare clearing. Slowly, they drew themself back up from their crouch, Impmon's words bleeding from their mind like water, and whatever reply locked behind their teeth. They sat back on their heels, still low to the ground but no longer using their hands to brace them. Their arms rested atop their knees, and they turned their head sideways to look into the clearing.

Arii was not a stranger to death. That's the funny thing about living in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere with a population as old as the buildings. People die all the time, and their last words are read by families howling with that grief. Sometimes it's sleep, and sometimes it's taken by a rolling tractor, or drowned in a cave, or skies knew what else. They thought the video reminded them of a diver, lost in the blue eye and drug down until he drowned. The family wanted the video wiped.

Don't think, don't think, don't think.

They passed another look around, mentally tagging anything—anything at all—that looked like a threat. Empty field stared back at them. When only their heartbeat thumped in their ears, they stood, pulling themself back to their awkward, lanky height. Their hands tucked back into their jacket pockets.

They weren't surprised. They found, surveying the small assortment of items and—blast that military one—the people out in the clearing, under the disquieted, somber air Green was oozing out into the world, their spiking anxiety had smoothed over somewhat. They knew what happened, now. They knew what happened, and it wasn't good, but it didn't happen to them, and instead it was some other overconfident party who were mauled.

Now they just had to keep it that way.

Don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think.

When Green spoke, they barely spared her a glance, but they were speaking before they had the thought to stop themself. "'S right," they said in a soft, level voice. Nonchalance bled from their tongue even as they jerked their head to indicate Green. "Should send two. To make sure it gets there safely." Some horrible, vindictive part of their brain wanted to scream and tear out their hair. To yell, to say "that could have just as easily been us," but that stayed under lock and key, boiling behind their sternum like molten metal. It's done. The scouting party was dead, and they weren't coming back, and in the wake of devastation, no one needed to be yelled at. No one.

They picked their way out of the brush, gingerly stepping over wildflowers and bushes as sun lanced down at them. The cliff face stared back at them, and with the same, impulsive thought they'd had when they took that picture of the cat print, they took a photo of the thing with their own digivice. It wasn't supposed to be there, allegedly. They marked it on their map application, and continued forward into the field.

They thought, maybe, they should be more concerned. Something in the area had been proven to kill people far more experienced than they. But then, like Impmon said, what would their hiding do in the face of that? It was like staring down a tornado with a brain. If that thing wanted them dead, they would be dead. That was it. It was not like a predator who you could convince with snarling, and snapping, and posturing, that you were not worth the energy. It was not a prey animal that you could cower under to say "look, look, too small. Too small, too weak. Harmless".

Don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think.

It was like facing down a human. A human who was convinced that you were wrong. Bad, and gangrenous. This thing—whatever it was, whatever form it took—it had all the power they didn't. "Do you know your sin?" the voice had asked, and yes, they thought, mind poisoned with scathing words and stinging-red handprints. With touch-soft bruises and a smile stretched thin at the edges. Yes, for they were not what it wanted, and it—that dread monster—was as simple as that. A human who did not find what they wanted.

And that, that, helplessness, Arii thought, was familiar territory.

They skirted the edge of the treeline with unearned confidence, examining this and that as they ventured. They still turned at any noise or rustle of brush, but they were not afraid. They stood with confidence trailing off their gait and leaving wakes of turned grass. They prowled hunter, weaving in and out of the shadowed canopy, until they stopped by a disturbed pile of dirt near the edge of the clearing.

It smelled like that mushroom stuff. Obviously a remnant of whatever it was killed those scouts. It was small, too. Smaller than grave-sized, unless you buried someone completely upright (a terrible idea, really), but they didn't think there were bodies leftover in this world unless it was a fish.

For a moment, they hesitated, hands tucked in their pockets and jacket smoothed against their back. Maybe, some little voice in the back of their mind whispered, if you thought about it some more, you would be afraid again.

Don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think
.

But they wouldn't think.

They wouldn't, because if they thought anymore today, the boiling ember in their chest would explode. And they couldn't do that. They couldn't do that.

Not right now.

Certainly not here.

Don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think.

They promptly rolled one sleeve up and shoved their arm into the mound of dirt.

It collected irritatingly under their nails and coated their skin, the loose dust bound together with slime of the flammable mushroom variety. They wondered how the townspeople would have buried their scouts if there was anything. Together, with their digimon? Cremated and mixed ashes?

Don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think, don't think.

They took a breath. Once. Twice. In through the nose, out through the mouth. They straightened.

Then, for good measure, kicked the mound of dirt as hard as they could, sending the whole thing erupting into a shower of muddy clumps.

Eliam’s eyes shot out hearing Raven and then Arii, as the bunny passed his position. His eyes watched her go and then turned to the others as they followed. He watched the chaos of those around him, over the Digimon that rushed off without a full explanation. They were following the path he was already standing near, but Arii’s voice was commanding. Eliam’s eyes darkened as he watched them pass him by.

It took a moment for Eliam to look at Salamon before he looked around again to see that they were alone. He sighed with some relief before turning back to Salamon, who started towards what she wanted him to see. No one was around, and with his newfound mistrust in this group, she was sure that he couldn’t be open to giving all the information away. Just a few feet from the path, Salamon stopped and Eliam looked at the metal on the ground.

As he leaned down to pick it up he looked confused. Shuriken was dangerous, his father collected a few ancient dangerous weapons, and although Eliam was still training with some of those weapons for a time, throwing weapons had been his weakness. So, he had no way of using it, he would keep it either way, just in case he needed it.

Before he thought of where he could put it, he noticed that each point had a color and Roman numerals. He looked closer, but the trees hid the light enough that it was hard to see. As her moved closer to the sun, he saw a few numerals, but one side was bet up than the others. Before he could try to look any closer, Salamon nudged him, “We are falling behind.”

Eliam looked down at her, nodding as he slipped the shuriken into his vest, under his school jacket. There was a shirt between him and the blades but he turned to Salamon to lead the way. Salamon rushed forward, avoiding top speed so that Eliam could keep up, but following the group's scent. She led him down the path to where they were all found in a clearing.

Eliam caught up just in time to hear a voice from the device Ji-Su was holding. He listened to the message and frowned, thinking of what he was hearing. He looked to Salamon, the person who left their partner. He wouldn’t allow anything to happen to Salamon? The voice near the end sent Eliam to think of what it could be talking about. Sin? He turned to the side, his sin was being born and following the path his father led. He sighed, or was it? Whoever finished that man off was looking for an answer like a retribution act. The sin might not even be the sin of one but as a general question against humans. But why destroy the Digimon? He looked back around and paused as he noticed something.

He noticed Lopmon with a puzzle device, which he raised his eyebrow to. He noticed the color and started toward Róisín, to get a closer look at the device, noticing the numbers. He thought of what he found and figured that it could be the key to his puzzle, or it could be the key to something else. The puzzle might be important for them to open, or dangerous. There were a lot of things that he was not clear of, so for now, he was silent. He motioned Salamon into his arms and as she jumped up he caught her in the air. Holding her in his arms, Salamon listened to the conversations, before she looked at Eliam. He just held her tight and they both understood, if they faced this creature, not a Digimon, creature, they would do it together life or death, they were not alone.

But for now, they would focus on one thing, deciding to try the key or not on the puzzle device. For now, they would do nothing, they didn’t trust everyone here. They didn’t trust the puzzle was helpful and not harmful and they most importantly didn’t trust explaining what took them so long.

Once again, Kimi had absently reached for her shiny Wargreymon as she thought, the feel and weight of her locket always reassuring. "Technically it's called a Super Rare" Kimi stated, looking down at Wargreymon "It was a gift from my Grandma..." She paused, unsure if Digimon would understand such a term being how Digivolution worked. "She's like the Mega version of me you could say. This card made me who I am now."

She reminisced for a moment, the memory a good one by the look on her face as she looked back at Gazimon. "Pineapple Parfait is really good" she added, bolstering Mei's food analogy.

There was a lull in the conversation, a moment of peaceful contentment that one often found with friends, with Leo and Dracumon's playfulness seemingly quieted, drawing everyone's attention to Mei's drawing. Tentomon was the only one not drawn to it, the little rookie happy to continue her strategizing with a more relaxed Gazimon. That is until he jolted, which in turn caused Tentomon to jump out of her skin, falling on to her back like an upturned turtle thanks to Mei's dramatic laugh.

Kimi recoiled in shock, as Mei called her out with a challenge. Holding her handmade cards before her like a mask, Kimi was certainly taken aback by Mei's actions. However her choice of words, especially with the word duel and with Mei using her version of her self given nickname, the 'Cool Girl' continued her newly restored optimism and let herself believe that she was about to finally get the duel she craved. A crowd was quickly forming at the power of Mei's performance, with Digimon and people alike beginning to chant Kimi's newest nickname.

Kimi could feel her cheeks redden at the sudden attention, but she pushed the shyness aside, having been prepared to duel on the world stage after all. But with the crowd as close as it was she was glad to surrounded by her newest friends, both human and Digimon. Wanting to keep up with Mei's stellar acting, Kimi tried to follow her lead, the crowd seeing her as the hero to Mei's villain. She strapped on her goggles, and did her best to whoosh her coat in some dramatic way. "Megalo-Mei-niac, we meet again! I will never forget the day you doomed my village by giving into your dark powers but this 'Cool Girl' will not fail this time!"

Nervous, Kimi's voice cracked from time to time as she spoke but she had done small performances for her Grandma, mostly when she was little, acting out parts or adding a bit of flourish to simple things so Kimi drew from that for her act. To any humans watching, Kimi's inspiration was obviously Saturday morning cartoons. "Last time you were happy to let your Evil Enforcer, Gabumon Black face me" Kimi pointed at Mei's partner, seemingly pausing for effect, though in truth she wanted to mouth a silent apology to the obviously good natured Gabumon. "Though it was close, almost too close, these two mighty Digimon... Bancho Bear and..... Grand Gazi came to my aid and turned the tide." She motioned to the two G-Mon, her eyes flicking towards the larger of the two, too shy to keep eye contact but long enough to draw a little strength from their presence. "Training me in the ancient ways of.... Sum... Ting" Kimi cringed inside. "I have grown stronger. Strong enough to finally harness the power of the ancient treasure left down to me by my ancestors."

She held her locket and thought of her Grandma. "The power of Shiny.. Rose ..WarGreymon!"

She gripped her locket limply at first, though it's made up moniker quickly gave her the confidence she needed, channelling all her emotion into raising it proudly towards the sky. "I know my team, and newfound mentors," Kimi motioned to Leo, Dracumon and Tentomon before ending on the G-Mon's "would surely aid me in this fight, but 'Cool Kimi' must do this fight alone. Time for you, Megalo-Mei-niac to learn the bad way...," Kimi closed her eyes, slightly mortified at her word play. "..., the rad way, to win"

Her wordplay only slightly better, Kimi kept her goggled eyes on Mei, taking a much needed breath and hoping beyond hope that she had done well enough for Mei's performance, her heart beating like a jackhammer.

For the parts of Ji-Su and Commandramon, the pair became all the more serious as Ji-Su pocketed the digivice and Commandarmon did what amounted to shouldering his lizard adopted AR platform rifle sniffing the air very audibly and even sending out high pitched growl or call, as if painting the area around them, ears peeled for something, anything. Ji-Su for her part had a very serious look to her face as if a switch had been flipped, her head was on a swivel as she cautiously and methodically searched with her head turn and eyes darting from place to place after the warning in the device. Akin to barks Commandramon continued, it wasn't exactly clear what he was doing to anyone not a digimon likely.

"We should leave here. Now. The puzzle box doesn't need to be opened here..." Noticing what Arii was up to, she sighed a bit and decided to stay on guard with Commandramon.

"Do whatever you need to but let's be quick about it. On the plus side we know it's not an animal. Some sort of Digimon. And I don't care much for the Sin asker, we got what we need." If the rest had something to do, then the Officer had little choice but to stay and wait.

"Still, curious about that cliff and why we found the digivice here but not there."

Ace glanced sideways at Ruth when she squeezed his shoulder, offering him her support with such fierce determination. He couldn’t help but feel a small flicker of warmth at her words, but he was also realistic. His heart was heavy, knowing that her optimism couldn’t undo the physical damage that had already been done. “Coded into him permanently.” That was the phrase that stung the most.

He forced a small smile as Ruth launched into her plan, explaining the R.I.C.E. method with a fervour he couldn’t help but admire. He knew she was trying to offer hope, and he wasn’t about to shoot that down but deep inside, a part of him was already coming to terms with what this meant. This wasn’t just some injury he could push through, some temporary setback. This was forever. He wasn’t going to let it break him, he couldn’t, but the path ahead felt a lot more uncertain now.

As Dr. Tanaka handed him the knee brace and explained its importance, Ace nodded, doing his best to focus on the task at hand. He could feel the pressure of Ruth’s gaze on him, as well as the silent concern from Cutemon. Ace kept his face neutral, trying not to show just how much the news had rattled him. He wasn’t sure if Ruth’s hopeful words were enough to keep him afloat this time, but he couldn’t let her see that doubt. "Got it," Ace said, carefully taking the brace from her hands. He looked at it for a moment before fastening it around his leg, feeling the support immediately. It wasn’t a cure, but it was something. "Thanks, Doc. I’ll make sure to follow your instructions."

Ace could see the frustration and determination in Ruth's eyes as she declared she would help him find another way. He wanted to say something, to reassure her, to let her know he’d be okay but the words stuck in his throat. Instead, he simply nodded his head in silent understanding. It was his way of saying, I’m not giving up.

Gryzmon and Gazimon were clearly not part of the Chel fan club if they did not know what a parfait was. It seemed like fate was setting them up again to run into the duo in the future rather than have them stick around. Chel had an agenda, Gabriel had an agenda, these two had an agenda. Kind of weird how everyone they met so far was a pair rather than a larger group or an individual. Since everyone wanted to stress about how harsh conditions were a larger travel group most likely ran into issues like inter party fighting, supply issues, or just attracting too much attention. Thankfully with their numbers she would consider them more of a party than a large group since they could still book indoor seating at a restaurant.

Ohoho it seemed Mei was right back in the cave when she guessed that Kimi’s locket had some sort of emotional significance. Over reliance on it could make it a mental crutch as well similar to how Ruth's crystal seemed to be for her stability. Hopefully nothing would happen to it since Kimi seemed the type to use it in actual play rather than keeping it safe as a keepsake.

“Ara, shouldn’t you know better than to give people nicknames without permission?” Mei's tone made it clear this was not a yes and but more of a meibye,” Also, telling lies like that…I guess despite having more than enough cards to share it seems your still short of a full deck,” Mei said shuffling her illegal deck that lacked the total number of cards required. Their match should be finished before it mattered anyways.

“Just because you involve more people in your falsehoods like some desperate housewife doesn’t make them any truer. Do you think these villagers are as foolish as you are? Do you care not of their disappointment once your story collapses like a house of cards?,” she said also glancing to the two G-mon,”Clearly the something they taught you was not consideration of others.”

“Then again, some had faith that you were not the type to judge people based on things that they cannot control. That you would stick up for others when that happened but,”
Mei paused not only for dramatic effect but to pet Black Gabumon,” Given what we have witnessed it was misplaced.”

While the scene was set this was not some fake stage play for everyone to clap at. This was a chance for everyone to see just how cool Kimi could be and for her to show people the joy of the card game. There was no need for performative actions from her since Raven had those covered already with her non-apologies.

“I’m surprised your grandmother did not teach you to be better than this but maybe the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Well, since I’m in a benevolent mood I will not only give you a lesson but let you go first. It just wouldn’t feel right for the villagers to have an excuse for why you lost once I’m done with them.”

“So uncool Kimi why don’t we let everyone witness the bad way to win if you think it is so…rad. Ohohoho!”

Mei felt quite pleased with herself. She was able to warn Kimi how rude it was to make nicknames for people when you’re not close to them. That was behavior she excepted someone of Arii's level not hers. Not to mention the dangers of involving other people in your lies since it just made them easier to unravel when pressed. A bad lie was but a grape that turned into whine when you applied the slightest pressure. Mei doubted Kimi would be able to make anything but unsellable on clearance swill. To help Kimi save face Mei didn't call out any of the specific lies since it was clear the only thing black gabumon was is a cutie patootie.

It was lucky the two G-mon seemed like the type to forgive Kimi for her missteps so far. Since Mei was able to course correct the situation the villagers wouldn’t form as negative of opinion of Kimi as they would have if they discovered her lie later. The most important thing when making friends was to be yourself after all. The gentle reminder that she was a good person like when she started the cave introductions and to keep in mind the values that Kimi’s grandmother should help her stay on track.

Now all Mei had to do was lose which shouldn’t be hard since she could just count cards and use the little bit she knew of Kimi from the tournament match she almost witnessed. She should be able to ensure that Kimi got a chance to use her signiture card as well. It was alright if Kimi didn’t pick up on the cheating since Mei would boldly cheat as well since she herself was not aware of the proper rules.

Ruth was surprised. She half-expected the doctor to argue with her. Instead, she was pleased on her end. Despite how much Tanka praised Ruth for her medical knowledge, the fact remains that on the seventh-day mark, everything is permanent. That includes Ace’s condition. Ruth recalled Chel informing everyone of it, but to think that there is no other option than to give up and accept the situation feels as if no matter what happens, they are faced with doom. It made Ruth wonder if that is why Gabriel and the others chose to settle. They conformed to their new environment. Ruth refused to give up. Her principle as a future doctor meant she needed to persevere in the impossible to save others, but that seemed like a long shot being in the digital world. The rules are different.

Again, the blonde was stunned by how well she could read Alex. Her recommendation to listen to her during his small fits of pain was surely something Ruth could handle, and that would also mean Alex was her first patient. What a coincidence. Rather than sulk, Ruth listened to the rest of Dr.Tanaka’s directions to make sure Alex kept up with his routine of compressing his knee. She did learn that after the seven-day mark, she could make something indestructible. She wondered if there was something she had in mind she wanted to keep forever. At least they don’t have to worry about clothes, but they should worry about not ripping holes in them before seven days.

Ruth perks up as Dr.Tanaka acknowledges her medical insight. Ruth becomes bashful, averting her eyes. She had never been told her presence was welcome. ”Th-thank you. Likewise, doctor.” The feeling of soft hands holding her balled ones, had Ruth snap her attention to her quizzically. Again, the doctor had astonished the blonde within a matter of a few minutes. The genuine kindness held behind her words had Ruth nearly weeping as she longed to hear approval. The faith to continue to hang on to hop is a habit to Ruth. It’s all she has ever done in her life and falling into the digital world is not different than back home. The only difference is she knew nothing about an unknown realm. The blonde bit her lip to keep it from quivering and nodded. She took a deep breath and said, ”I will. Thank you for the advice.”

Now that the exam was over, it was time to regroup with the others. She knew the scouting team was probably in the outskirts therefore they needed to wait. She hoped they were fine including…Ruth turns to Alex who seems to shoot her a reassuring sign, but regardless of the situation, she feels helpless that she can’t do much except ease the pain for him. Even if Alex had accepted, Ruth was compelled to find another way. It’s only the beginning, and with the medical equipment scavenged, why wouldn’t there be something useful for Alex in their journey? Ruth gave a half-smile unsure what to say to him or if he even wanted to talk to him. It was then that she heard the cheerful hollering of the most adorable rabbit digimon ever. Ruth’s eyes shaped into stars witnessing a chubby Terriormon run around and toss flyers like a madman.

”Hey, hey! You!” He pointed to a random person with their digimon. ”Yeah, you! Quit moping around and come to the circus. Why sit around lounging when you can goof around and take a load off at the circus? Come with a friend or two. The more the merrier I say. Not a fan? Not a problem! We have peanuts for you to toss at the from the stands while you boo at their act. It’s a place for smiles and delights.” Terriermon continues giggling, ignoring everyone’s protests. He slaps a piece of paper on someone’s face and another on the doors of homes, and as they run by the tent they hand the doctor a flyer, one to Alex, another to Cutemon, and lastly Ruth. ”You guys definitely deserve a laugh or two. I sense a lot of gloominess. I mean who died? Am I right?” Terriermon nudges Cutemon while chuckling at his own joke. ”Oh, tough crowd.”

”Oh, my gosh! You’re a Terriermon. First a Lopmon, then a Cutemon, and now a Terriermon? I can’t believe I met all of the cute rabbits in such a short span. This is so awesome.” Ruth picks up the rabbit and hugs it as if he is her pillow. She nuzzles his furry face making Terriermon uncomfortable.

”Hey lady! Hands off the employee. This is harassment.” He scolded using both of his hands and ears to push Ruth off.

”Oh, sorry. I got excited.” She sets the rabbit down as he dusts himself off.

”Where do you get off-touching things that don’t belong to you?” He scolded in offense until his stomach growled. His ears droop more than they already do as he plops on the floor. His face showed signs that he was exhausted. ”So tired. So hungry.” He whined.

Ruth squats down feeling bad for the little guy, but recalls what’s in her bag. She rummages through her messenger bag and pulls out a tall water bottle. As she takes a look at the unopened bottle, she realizes this might be what she wants to keep forever as a canister. ”Here, I have water if you’re thirsty.” She offers him the bottle. It didn’t take long for Terriermon to perk up and swipe the bottle. His gluttonous side activated just by staring at the beautiful liquid. He chugs as much as he could leaving the bottle half empty. Ruth watches in awe of his appetite before she pulls out some bags of chips and offers them to him too. ”I completely forgot to share these on the first night. It wasn’t until I slept on the bag did I remembered.” She rubs her nape sheepishly explaining to Alex.

”Ooo, chips! Well, I guess I can forgive you just this once.” Terriermon began to munch on the potato chips without a care.

”So what brings you around here, and what’s with the circus?” Ruth looks over the flyer reading the title.

”Advertising for the circus and inviting them. I was given the important task of bringing in as many people as I could. Honestly, I wish I was back home lounging about.” Gluttonous and Lazy is what Terriermon seems to be. What a peculiar combination. It was nothing like Rosin’s Lopmon.

Interactions: Twist Twist

Tentomon watched the two human girls interaction, utterly flabbergasted. Kimi had been trained by the two travellers, Gryzmon and Gazimon? Kimi was a superhero!? And Leo, Dracumon and herself were part of her team! Tentomon couldn't believe it! How did she not notice? She had been born from DNA of her partner, knowing everything about Kimi but she hadn't known this. She pondered about this for only a moment, realising quickly that heroes are made, not born. And obviously being a superhero was a super duper secret. Though she was easily overwhelmed by her next thought. She crackled with excitement, her compound eyes enlarging. Did that make her Tentoman?

Kimi listened to Mei's rebuttal, thinking she was playing the role of the noble villain or anti hero in their play but as she listened it seemed the words were more personal, not directed to 'Cool Kimi' but to Kimi herself. Words from a friend.

Kimi may have misread the situation entirely however when she insulted her grandmother, the light faded behind her googles. With a face like thunder, she pulled out her rose clad deck box. "Game on" she stated.

Shuffling her deck, she let her legs drop and sat on the cloak that was to be their battlefield. With Kimi going first, she drew her hand and came in hard. "I hatch Kyaromon from my egg Deck"

Just to the side near her Breeding Zone sat a little five card deck, from which the 'Cool Girl' pulled her card.

"And I Digivolve her to, Bushi-Agumon, from my hand"

"Bush-Agumon will then attack your security deck"

Thanks to Kyaromon's effect, Bushi-Agumon's chance of successfully deleting Mei's card would be higher and she could Digivolve her level 3. Otherwise she would play another rookie. She waited for Mei to turn the card....

Good. Kimi seemed to realize this was not the time for her to be putting on airs and to treat this match as a serious matter. She would surely gain a lot of fans from this and hopefully some friends but most importantly Bushi Agumon would feel devastated from missing this when he heard about it second hand.

“An egg deck? Shouldn’t you be more concerned about sending babies into battle? At least wait until they are children,” Mei said since the rule set she once glanced at in a trash can while visiting the tax break they called an orphanage had no such thing listed. Where were the A, B, and C attack types? Her opponents must have been really weak for her to make it so far into the tourney with such generic cards. Shame Tentomon would learn the horrors of war at such a young age if Kimi so callously had a copy of her to sacrifice in her deck.

Kimi successfully attacked Mei’s security deck revealing the Arii card she made. She was fine with this. Since she had no Digimon on her side their special effect of deleting one of them wouldn’t take place since when Arii died, she was sure they would be taking someone else with them. Maybe someday that person could be an enemy but today and most likely tomorrow was not that day.

“I play Ace with Cutemon and since an ally was deleted this turn from my security their special effect lets me play another card so I will place down Ji-Su whose special effect will ensure my security cards will be 401-OK so only one can be destroyed next turn. Ohohoho!”

Mei didn’t really care what Kimi had planned since it was clear the end result Mei was aiming for wouldn’t change. Maybe she would put a card face up in defense mode as a treat.

Ace let out a quiet sigh of relief as Terriermon made his grand entrance, immediately shifting the mood in the tent. Ruth's face lit up with excitement, her eyes sparkling as she scooped up the small Digimon and hugged him like a plush toy. Watching her gush over Terriermon was a welcome distraction, pulling the spotlight away from him and his injury and, for that, he was grateful. The weight of Dr. Tanaka’s words still lingered, but right now, Ace was just happy to see Ruth smile again.

As Ruth handed the new arrival something to drink and a bag of chips, Ace playfully rolled his eyes as she sheepishly explained herself. Meanwhile, Cutemon's wide eyes locked on Terriermon as he munched on the bag of chips Ruth had handed him. The faint rumble of Cutemon's stomach echoed in the tent, but they remained silent, just staring at the food with a hopeful, almost pleading expression. Their ears twitched with each crunch, and though they didn’t ask for any, the longing look on their face was clear.
