Fantasy Hybrid, Magic Camp

Eevee smiled and looked down at her feet, but something out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. Sarthiss's jeans were ripped, and they exposed a scar that scared her a bit. "I-I didn't do that to you...did I?" She asked, her voice cracking and her smile fading as she motioned towards the skin.

Sarthiss looked down, and pulled his leg back to him quickly. "No, no, I've had that a long time..." He heated his fingers and ran them along the tears he had made, making the polymers in his jeans fuse back together. They looked as if they had been stitched. "Eevee, I doubt you could hurt me if you tried... except... Nevermind." He shook his head. "That was a long time ago."

Eevee looked at him, her eyes showing signs of fear but tried to hide it. She left the matter be and just shook her head a little, pushing the thought to the back of her mind and didn't look at him.

A few flames flicked up Sarthiss's spine. "Hey, don't worry too much. That's my job." He went to rest a hand on her shoulder, but thought better of it. "Would it put your mind at ease if I told you where it came from?" Sarthiss asked gently.

Eevee shook her head an then finally turned to face him. Her eyes still hiding her emotions and her ears staying up to keep it hidden.

Sarthiss was brought back to the day his school burnt down. People running around. The screams. And the flames. Most of all the flames. "I told you I had a friend right?" He began. "Her name was Flare. I believe I've mentioned her before." Sarthiss rocked back and forth a bit. "I also told you I was in a fire, correct?" Sarthiss faced Eevee. "This gets a bit complicated, so let me know you understand that much."

Sarthiss leaned back. "Flare was like you, she had the same gift I mean. We grew up together, but I didn't know

I was gifted at the time. She started hearing voices the more she used her powers. She primarily liked the flame aspect of them. Play with fire and you'll get burned..." Sarthiss clicked his tounge. "One day she told me the voices were the anchients. The collective conscience of all people with her gift. She got a bit unstable..." He cracked his knuckles agitatedly. "I didn't understand. She grew increacingly unstable and set everything on fire. People were devoured by the flames, torn apart. They changed, into like, animals. Whenever they touched me they just kind of... dissipated." Sarthiss rolled up his jean leg, re-exposing the scar. "I didn't understand I was a child of fire then. I went to the place with the most water, the boiler room. While there, one of the pipes burst, and scalded my leg, breaking my skin. When I tried to get out, the black flames could only hurt me there. To the best of my knowledge I was the only one who survived." He put his leg back down, covering the scar. "Ever since then it's reacted with darkness badly. I can't walk around with it hanging out all the time, so I always wear something to cover it." Sarthiss motioned to where he buried the ash. "That stuff was attracted to it, it burned. It hurt alot. That's why I might seem edgy when you use your powers around me."

Eevee opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came to her. She knew that words wouldn't have done anything, so she kept quiet, and kept the thoughts to herself. Now she really felt bad. She had no idea what to think when he finished his story. The only thing that came to her mind, was that Flare was actually the same kind of person. Not that she was a Neko, but that she actually had the same abilities. The fire aspect seemed to be the part where Flare went to, not like Eevee where she had enjoyed learning all different kinds of the abilities, but she couldn't help but picture all of his words in her head. Flare burning the place, kids screaming, Sarthiss's leg getting burned. She stopped thinking after that, and didn't know what to think anymore.

Sarthiss wiped his face. "I don't want you to end up the same way. When I asked you if you were hearing voices, it was because I was concerned." He put his arm around her. "I know i'm overprotective and follow you around everywhere, but that's only because I want to make sure nothing you ever do leads you down the path Flare took."

Eevee looked down at her feet again and thought about what that would be like. It wasn't like she wanted to, but the sound of it was pretty bad, and she hoped that she didn't end up like that.

Eevee seemed stunned, she wasnt talking. Sarthiss rubbed the area in between her ears. It was a bit much to take in. He decided he would sit here and let her think a bit, maybe talk. Sarthiss couldn't see wolf in the area, he was probably still talking to shade. 'For the best,' he thought.

Eevee's ear twitched as she felt Sarthiss rubbing her hair. She didn't mean to, but out of reaction you could say, she pushed his hand away and continued to sit, not facing him, not even looking at him through the corner of her eye.

Sarthiss sighed. He remained where he was, knowing Eevee would only respond when she wanted to. Wether that be now or tomorrow, maybe never. He ran his hand over his leg, tracing where his scar was through his jeans.

Eevee thought about if she had any problems with hearing voices, but she never recalled anything like that. She then started to think about the flame, but one popped up on the tip of her tail. She looked at it and put it out, making sure that Sarthiss didn't see. She concluded that the flames only spontaneously showed up if she was upset, nervous, scared, or any other negative emotion. "And I thought I had it hard..." She said suddenly, looking at Sarthiss.

Sarthiss rolled his neck. "No. It's done. Nothing else has come of it that hinders me in everyday life. Let the past be in the past, and all decisions go to those that have to live with them." Sarthiss replied, using some of his words of wisdom

Eevee couldn't help but smile at his words. Sometimes, he wasn't always the one to say something that made him sound like a sage, but other times, he did. It just depended on if he wanted to or not.

Sarthiss tilted his head back a bit and smirked grimly. "Tell me Eevee, did I look like someone who's been through hell? Before you knew me personally, I mean. Just my songs, myself, my fire... It's hard to pin something on anybody unless you know everything about them yea?" He brushed a bit of hair away from Eevee's face that fell down her chin.

"I guess so..." She said, replying to the last part of his question. When Sarthiss moved the hair away from her face, she thought he was gonna move it away from her eye, so she pulled her head back a bit, just enough so that he wouldn't take the hair away from her eye.

Sarthiss smirked. "Really? Just a wandering soul, all smiles, humming to himself and burning pinecones out of peoples hands?" He chuckled, referring to when they first met.

Sarthiss smiled. "Alright then." He noticed Eevee was grinning. This made his smile wider. "Thanks. You should smile more often. You have a beautiful smile sweetheart." He reached out and stroked the back of her neck.

Eevee was surprised when Sarthiss reached over and scratched the back of her neck, but she soon calmed down and leaned against him softly, purring.

Sarthiss held her close, continually stroking her neck. "Wolf and I had a little hypothesis," he said, "He thought your mood would change with the seasons. Well, I think he's wrong, because it's the beginning of fall and you still seem to have the same mindset as you did in summer." Sarthiss tried to make a noise in his throat that sounded like purring as well, but he ended up choking a bit on his own tounge.
