Fantasy Hybrid, Magic Camp

Eevee heard something from behind her, but dismissed it quickly. She tossed the fire into the air, then got an idea. She stood up and played with it like a soccer ball on her shoes. It was actually more controlled too considering that it was easier to keep track of. kicking it up in the air and using the side of her foot to kick it back up, she caught it and held it up with one finger. It flicked every now and then, but it wasn't too bad.

Sarthiss smiled a bit, still staying by his tree. 'Leave it to a cat to use her powers to make a ball,' he grinned. She wasn't using her powers to burn anything, and the flames didn't burn her, so tha was a good sign. It didn't stop sarthiss from worrying though. He remembered one of Flare's frequent quotes to him, "You worry too much." True. He did. But with good reason. Sarthiss zoned out a bit, gazing into the leafy expance of the woods. He liked the woods.

Eevee took a seat back on the ground in the grass, and there was a circle around her. She got an idea and placed the fire on the circle where the small blades of grass were. Surprisingly, the blades caught fire but it didn't spread, well that is, until a couple seconds went by. The black flame change to a lighter grey and a ring of fire was created around her. She wasn't phased by it in any way, however, her ears perked up and saw that the fire didn't go farther than that.

Sarthiss watched Eevee begin to use the flame more and more. She began burning the grass around her. He clicked his tounge loudly alerting her of his presence. He didn't do anything else, just smiled at her from his place against the tree. He didn't want to appear threatening. But the smile was one that didn't reach his eyes.

Eevee heard the click and turned around, seeing Sarthiss there she jumped up and faced him, the fire going out that lay around her. She pulled her ears back and stared at him. 'Why the hell does he always find me?' She questioned to herself.

Sarthiss waved his hand a bit. "Continue. I'm just watching." He smiled again, the same one that didn't reach his eyes.

Eevee shook her head sightly. Sarthiss wasn't looking to be OK with what she was doing, but she had an idea so that she could at least be away for a bit longer. She conjured a small fire in her hands and allowed it to fall towards the ground below her, the fire spreading, but not too much that it was going to hurt anything or anyone. Then, it stop growing out and grew taller, creating what appeared to be a wall. Eevee ran off and when the wall died down and out, she was gone somewhere else in the woods.

"If you wanted to be alone you could've just told me!" Sarthiss called after her. He remained leaning against his tree, thinking. He bent down to inspect the ash a bit. This seemed to be normal ash. He picked it up and ran it through his fingers. Yep, this was normal ash. Sarthiss felt a pain in his leg where his scar was. He winced, rolling up his jeans. The ash began quivering, and some stuck to his scar, it burned. Sarthiss inhaled sharply, wiping the ash off of his scar and rolling his jeans back down. He then realized, the black flame wasn't the problem. It was who controlled it that made it a bad thing or a good thing. Still, the flame could only be extinguished by the one who had put it there, and Flare was dead. Sarthiss would be stuck with his scar that reacted negatively to this 'shadow ash' forever.

Eevee lay in a tree, hearing him scream out to her in a bit of frustration. "Baka......" She said to herself. "If it wasn't for you sneaking up on me like that, I wouldn't have freaked out..." She then thought about it and felt a bit bad, but she tried not to go back to where he was. He was a bit overprotective, and he needed to stop sneaking up on her so much. She relaxed a little, then closed her eyes and tried to forget about it.

Sarthiss stood back upand rubbed the scar on his leg. He always wore jeans, no matter the weather. Half the reason was to hide the scar, the other was because he didn't like shorts. Sarthiss cracked his neck, thinking a bit about Flare. She was not like Eevee in the slightest, but then again, he didn't have the relationship with Flare that he did with Eevee. Back then, Sarthiss got angry easily, and flare was the one who usually calmed him down. When Flare said she needed to leave because of her powers, it made him angry. It made her angry too. So with nobody to calm Flare down, tha was a big problem. Eevee was usually skittish and shy, but shehad got angry when she met the boy from her past in the mountains... Jack was his name? Whatever. He decided to give Eevee some space for a bit, time to cool off.

Eevee was calm enough, but she didn't feel like moving. Instead, she watched the birds fly by and listened to their chirping. The noises that they gave off were soothing, almost sounding like a song she knew. She swallowed the lump in her throat and sang "Bad apple" softly, but she could barely hear herself through the bird's happy-filled chirps, so she sang louder.

The cool breeze carried a voice along with it. It also stirred up the ash, so Sarthiss moved away from it. He recognized the voice as Eevee's and she was singing. Sarthiss smiled. Wolf was wrong, Eevee did sing. Just not when people were around. Sarthiss smiled and kept his position.

Eevee smiled a bit as a bird flew by her. She continued her singing for a bit longer until she had reached the end of the song. It cooled her down a lot more than anything else that she had tried. She jumped down from the tree and landed in the grass below her. To her surprise however, a leaf fell from the tree as well, hitting her shoulder and then rolling off onto the soil below. 'Huh....Fall.' She thought, then looked around a bit for Sarthiss, but kept in the same spot. Maybe she had been too harsh in leaving like she did.

The same wind that carried the last few words of eevee's song blew a few leaves down from their lofty positions. Most of them were green, it wasn't too far into august yet. They hadn't changed from their normal state to the vibrant reds and yellows that foreshadowed winter. Sarthiss smiled and laid back down, putting his arms behind his head, elbows pointing out. He inhaled deeply and smelled the air. Yea, it smelled clse to fall allright. One thing he couldn't smell was the ash. That bothered him. The smell of ash usually comforted him, the sooty substance soothed most of his worries. But this ash didn't have any particular scent. Strange.

Wolf laughs a bit at the girl's response. 'Sounds like an Alice in wonderland thing to me.' The dog cracked a small smile.

Eevee decided to climb the trees and find Sarthiss instead of regular walking. It would make it a lot easier to do. She eventually saw him and he was laying down, seemingly calm in his own world gazing up at the sky. Eevee leaned closer to see what he was doing but slipped a bit, throwing a few leaves off of the branches. She stayed silent and quickly backed up to where she was originally, wanting for him not to know that she was here.

Sarthiss inhaled again. No smell. No ashy comfort. Sarthiss wondered if he could maybe make ash out of the ash, and possiblly bring earthly qualities to it. Sarthiss turned his head towards the faint ring that still remained where eevee stood, a bit still floating in the air. He sat up, shook himself like a dog to get rid of his thoughts, stood up, and walked over to it. A couple flames danced up his right arm, surrounding it in ribbons. He snapped his fingers, but the ash did not catch fire. He broke a long branch off a nearby tree, setting the tip ablaze. Again no reaction. Sarthiss sat down, folding his legs. That was a mistake, some of the ash was attracted to his scar, and stuck to his pants. Getting up, trying to brush it off, he inhaled sharply as pain shot up his leg through his scar again. He made a noise in his throat, and ran a finger up the side of his jeans, searing a line that he spread apart, pulling the flaps he made back to reveal the scar. It was normal as ever, but it hurt when the ash touched it. Sarthiss finally managed to brush the ash off and into a small pile. He then proceeded to use his powers to burn the area around and under it in an attempt to bury it. His chest glowed through his shirt a bit, curling into a retro tribal design. The earth from underneath the ash burnt away, and he covered it with the surrounding dirt. Ash was useless when put in the ground, where it became spread evenly throughout the soil over the years, cooling it and breaking it down for nutrients. Sarthiss's scar still hurt, so he ran his fingers over the twisted tissue just above his kneecap, staring at the place he had buried the ash, deep in thought.

Eevee watched him from the branch, and once again got curious. Sarthiss was experimenting with the ash that was left after she had burnt the grass that once laid in a circle around her. She tilted her head, but couldn't understand why he was brushing himself off. She leaned in again and a few leaves fell as she moved around. The tree was covered in a bit of water from the dying patches of living green, but she didn't mind it too much. But she quickly changed her attitude when she slipped and fell, landing on top of him.

Someone crashed down on top of Sarthiss. He rolled out from under said person, jumping to his feet, the tribal symbol on his chest glowed again, flames licking at his elbows and running down his arms. He saw that it was Eevee and relaxed, the tribal symbol dimming and the flames extinguishing. "Sorry." He sad quietly rubbing his neck. He realized the tear he made in his jeans was still open, so he stood with that leg away from her, trying to hide it. "You don't like being snuck up on, you should take your own request sometimes." He made the smile that didn't reach his eyes again.

Eevee sat up and rubbed the side she fell on. "yeah...sorry. Just wanted to apologize for the incident with the fire and all...." Her voice trailed off and she pulled her knees close to her chest, sighing softly and muttered an apology with a hint of guilt.

"Oh, sure sure it's fine." Sarthiss waved her off, the breeze picking up his jean leg a little, "I was just... ya know. Thinking." Sarthiss nodded a few times. 'smooth man. Thinking. Great one.' He thought.

"I could tell..." Eevee stated plainly. It wasn't just thinking that he was doing, and she knew that, but she kept it to herself. She thought about the ash and decided never to use it around Sarthiss. It messes with her a little.

Sarthiss nodded. He leaned over and nuzzled her neck. "It's not a problem," he said gently, kissing her tenderly, "It's part of who you are. And I think you're perfect." He moved his leg away from him a bit, unknowingly exposing his scar through his ripped jeans.
