Fantasy Howl's Flying Castle (Finished! ---Whoo! (*^▽^)/)

- Pond's Castle -
" Frozen Lake, Baffin "

"Huh?" said James flabbergasted.

He knew when Lydia choked that he said something wrong, and his mind was thrown in a wild hurricane of wondering if it was because he called her butt cute, or if it was because he mentioned her butt after accidentally rubbing it.

As he allowed himself to be pulled away from the others a moment ago, he swore to himself that he will never mention "butt" and "cute" in the same sentence towards Lydia. He didn't understand it, but she appeared so deeply mortified by what he thought was a compliment that he even agreed to himself that he wouldn't use any synonym of "butt" and "cute" for as long as they lived.

But her next words completely baffled him. "HUH?" he said even more dumbfounded. "Nobody told me that --- that body part down there ---" James made round cupping gestures, " --- was . . .", he thought for a moment, "like how Johnny finds Butters."

- Seifer Rathmore -
" Jagged Ravine, Upland Tundra "

"Renee!" whispered Seifer as she disappeared over the ridge. He groaned inwardly and drew his bow watching the faint light of the three men bobbing through the heavy snowfall. Vision was getting bad as he scanned the surrounding area for foes.

Meanwhile, Renee heard a wheezing gurgling coming from one of the bodies; it was a dwarf with his armor crushed and dented towards the inside.

Renee's trembling cold wings perked up when she heard the wheezing gurgle and crawled up to the dwarf with the dented armor. Putting her bow down, she sat up as her herbalist training took over, unbuckling his armor and hissed quietly as she saw the damage. The bridge of her nose crinkled up as she cringed, never getting use to seeing wounds like this even after everything. It wasn't a pretty sight, that's for sure, but not one of the worst she has seen so far; It's just painful to imagine. The Pendragon teen quietly summoned Mica, watching him nuzzle and heal the dwarf as she asked with a gentle tone.

"Hey, it's okay. We're here to help." Renee told him as she checked any other injury the dwarf might have. Her face smoothed over as she wanted to calm the possible wary person. "What happened? Who did this to you?" She quickly asked. Her wings tucked against her head.

The ferret grumbled quietly in compliant as the snow was too cold for his taste and paws, his dark mousey eyes lazily looked at her like she's an idiot for helping a stranger without knowing their intentions, wounded or not. He continued to heal the mysterious and injured dwarf.

Lydia's fingers had grasped the fabric of James' collar as she stared him down with a mixture of emotions written across her face. She was worried because Seifer had quite possibly told James, not even just James, but all of the other boys that had traveled with them up to Holt intimate details about her. That worry turned to anger if he did indeed tell any of them about her appearance as he had seen it when their bodies were switched. She was embarrassed by the idea that James knew those things about her indirectly and she was embarrassed because Seifer knew at all and James would know that he knew. She had drawn a deep breath in and held it as all the worse case scenarios ran through her mind at warp speed.

As James somehow awkwardly said 'cute butt,' again without actually saying it, her head lowered, her face aiming towards the ground as she released the breath she had drawn in and closed her stinging eyes, her hands releasing their grip on his collar, palms laying flat against his chest. Seifer hadn't told him anything. She had just overreacted for nothing. Oh no. She acted like a crazy person and made things weird. Lydia visibly cringed. Boy, girl problems. She drew her hands away from James then and covered her face. She'd gotten sucked into a boy, girl problems scenario.

Now she had to cover this up. She didn't want James to know about Seifer, especially now with him dating Renee and the dragon soul and everything. Her hands stayed over her face but her eyes popped open as she considered the implications if James knew what Seifer knew. She didn't even know how though, she had specifically asked, 'how much did he tell you?' How was she going to cover that up with some sort of excuse? He'd either think differently of her like she wasn't the girl he thought she was, wasn't as pure and chaste as she lead others to think she was, or he'd become infuriated with the aforementioned 'he,' and want to know who 'he' was.

Her delicate features tightened as she grimaced and squeezed her eyes shut. She had to face him sometime, take his mind away from what had just happened. She drew in another deep breath before slowly releasing it as she raised her head finally and put on her best, prettiest, and most cheerful smile, "oh... um... so that's why you said I had a... cute butt?" she swallowed hard but tried to laugh it off, slipping her arms beneath his and wrapping them around his torso in a warm hug, he didn't seem like he cared what she had said as he felt it necessary to explain himself which was in a way a relief, her eyes looked around nervously as she sighed inwardly, "thank you... I-I'm sorry I acted like a crazy person, I was just surprised is all...."

Crisis averted? Lydia hoped so.

When asked if he could try it out, Aodh agreed somewhat reluctantly, but he didn't see how any harm could be done. Showing how the device was turned on, and a little about how the mechanism worked, Aodh gave Jonny one last tip.

"I wouldn't try shooting it at a living creature. I haven't discovered the blueprints for the necessary modification, but I have found mentions of it in the texts that I found with the schematics for the regular ray. When you want to change it back to it's original size, just shoot a second time, and it will revert," said Aodh as he flicked the switch to turn it on. "It will take a moment to charge up, but then you can fire at any nonliving thing."

While Jonny played around with the gun, Aodh pulled off his backpack to make sure that everything was still working. A general scan of the mechanism showed no immediate signs of emergency, but under close scrutiny, Aodh discovered small chips and cracks in the propellor blades. While the damage was minimal, he decided that it would be better to have them repaired anyway, as he didn't want to cause further strain on the weakened parts and break them. Turning back to Jonny who was still playing with the ray gun, Aodh asked.

"Jonny, are there any blacksmiths or metal workers in this town? I need the blades of my propellor touched up a little."

After Jonny answered, Aodh then went over the hose for damage. Finding none, he detached the canister from the side, waddling down to the lake, he broke through the thinner ice to fill with water. When he got back to the campfire, Echo was dousing the fire, so he grabbed his stuff and walked back to the his tepee on the farm.

- Seifer Rathmore -

" Jagged Ravine, Upland Tundra "

"The eye of Sargeras . . . the assassin's guild, they took it . . ." wheezed the old dwarf. He was wincing in pain and seemed close to passing out. He shivered in the cold as the blizzard began in earnest.

"Renee, let's find shelter!" said Seifer's voice through the howling wind and blinding snow. He had come down from the ridge. They could hardly see within ten feet now. There was a rumble as somewhere as the powerful freezing gale loosened snow and an avalanche began far away, though one couldn't be sure. Loud sounds echoed in the ravine and the blizzard made hearing difficult. Seifer quickly asked the dwarf if there was a cave of some sorts nearby and he shook his head.

"Not safe. A mile to the west. Closest safe cave." chattered the teeth of the dwarf. He pointed in the direction opposite where the assassins went. He explained that there was an old ruin which was where the attackers were probably going to take shelter from the blizzard just a hundred meters away, but he didn't want to encounter them again.

- James Pendragon -
" Somewhere, Frozen Lake, Baffin "

James hugged Lydia and patted her back, still confused. Women are so strange. First she was embarrassed, then angry, then embarrassed, then awkward, and then happy? And he still wasn't sure if "cute butt" was forbidden language. Maybe it's not about her bottom, and who was 'he'?

" You're welcome. " James hugged her tighter. Something stirred in his chest, like war drums in the deep. Does some other guy have their eye on her? His hug became possessive as he pulled her close and encased her entirely in his robes. Looking up as he thought who that could be, a flurry of snowflakes greeted him, and in the distance through the gaps of the trees, he heard Johnny's voice calling them to come back through the howling of the wind because a blizzard was starting.

'How much did he tell you?!'

James' hands moved down to hold Lydia's as he withdrew, his expression was troubled, but it was the usual steady, patient sort that settled on his features during battle. Yet one could see in his usually placid dark eyes that there was a twinge of doubt and uncertainty that made him anxious and it was battling with stubborn faith and hope.

"Let's go back to camp, Lydia." he said gently, and rubbed her hands to warm them. "I'll listen if something happened that I should know about. Doesn't have to be today or this week, only honestly comfort me that I'm the one you like now."

" Baffin "

Johnny had told Aodh that indeed there were many dwarven blacksmiths back at town, but unfortunately most of them were at the shores in the lowland tundra helping with the repairs of the airships. Though he was sure there should be one or two old hands who remained in town. He had fun making their camping things and rocks smaller and then bigger again, and almost depleted half of the shrink ray's energy in his enthusiasm before giving it back to the penguin.

Once again James had Pond follow the archeologist back to town while he cast protective charms over her castle to keep it safe from the wind and snow. The giant owl bear mimicked the way he walked and even tried sliding on her belly, which caused everything nearby to jump a few feet into the air.

Crisis averted. Lydia released a happy little whine as James hugged her and patted her back, her eyes closing, finally feeling like she could relax. She did just that, her body relaxing against his and she squeezed him slightly tighter, though her eyes closed and she smiled happily as he encased her in his robes. Her eyes popped open and she frowned when Johnny's voice could be heard in the distance and that expression didn't fade as James backed away, she would have been content to just stay in his arms. She would have gone back to smiling when his hands collected hers, but the look on his face worried her and her brow furrowed as she squeezed his hands.

She nodded very slightly before her head tilted to the side and a slight smile nervously tried to quirk the corner of her mouth as he rubbed at her hands, her expression darkening once again as he continued speaking. Her eyes opened wide at his statement and she briskly shook her head, holding his hands tightly as she held them against her chest and looked deeply in his eyes, "J-J-James! There... No!" her voice became flustered and her cheeks turned rosy once again, "th-th-there's... there's never been someone else," she huffed in agitation and shook her head, her brow furrowing. She just couldn't tell him. James already disliked Seifer greatly because of his relationship with Renee, if she said anything about the body switch it would probably just make him hate Seifer all the more.

"Only ever you, James! Only you!" she insisted and brought his hands up to her face where she rubbed her soft, cold cheek against them.

Renee didn't blame Mica if he poofed himself out of the blizzard, but the stubborn ferret stayed, crawling into her cloak as she listened to the dwarf. Her teeth chattered. Yea, no she wanted to get out of the blizzard now; this is too much cold and snow!

Taking a deep breath and regretting it from the chill going in her throat, Renee agreed with Seifer and passed him Mica, telling him that her summons is afraid of heights too. Then she changed into her griffin form, gently holding the dwarf in one talon while the other, she let Seifer be prepared first before grabbing him too once he let her. She held them close to her feathery chest and took off, flapping her wings heavily as the winds and snow is working against her; flying away from where the assassins went to.

She couldn't tell how far away she flew or if she was close to the cave, but once she spotted one, Renee swooped inside. The transformed teen let the dwarf and Seifer down first before changing back, body shivering uncontrollably. Her wings folded against her head like they were trying to keep warm.

"Ar-are you two okay? W-we shou-should start a fire or something." Renee suggested as she walked deeper into the cave, away from the horrible blizzard.

" Tent, Frozen Lake, Baffin "

Now it was James turn to search her eyes, but the freezing howling wind was whipping their hairs already. "Let's talk in the tents!" he yelled over the blizzard as the trees shook and creaked cascading them with snow. He never let go of her hand as they trundled back.

When they reached the warm safety of one of the tents and sealed the flap shut, James was covered head to foot in snow with his hair windswept and frozen backwards. He shivered and immediately wrapped a wooly blanket around himself.

When he looked back at Lydia he was in deep thought and he looked like he doubted her words, and then not, and then doubt again, and then not. He was struggling internally.

That face was Lydia's I'm-telling-the-truth-face, but he just couldn't help but think that she allowed some guy to see her bottom, and she's not even comfortable with kissing, so whoever this guy is, she must really trust him and like him more. But then, they're not together? Or they got together secretly and then broke up after a brief time? The answer was impossible to know with the way things are, but he had to be careful in asking because he didn't want his jealousy and doubts to mess this up.

"Lydia, I'm doubting that there was never anybody else." said James evenly. "I keep thinking there's a more trustworthy and better guy who was allowed to see your --- ", he made the round cupping gestures again, " --- and I can't put me being the only one and no one else together with that. I'm not allowed to give kisses even."

- Seifer Rathmore -
" Jagged Ravine, Upland Tundra "

"C-c-cold." said Seifer rubbing his arms. The dwarf seemed to have passed out, but he was still breathing.

The archer gave the ferret a look as thought he found him an ugly little beast, and put him on the ground by the tail and told him to shoo back to Renee.

The cave extended quite away deep into the mountain. Most of it was ice and snow and shimmering jagged icicles hung from the ceiling. There was no wood, the wood was outside back up and out of the ravine. The blizzard fell heavily, all they could see was white and snow outside, and all they could hear was the howling wind.

Katsuya Katsuya

Mica snorted at Seifer when he put him down, his eyes haughtily stared for moment before running back to Renee's side tugging on her cloak once he catches up to her. When she looked at him and picked him up, is when she remembered about what Seifer told her before; her feathers are warm. Maybe together with the bed sheet Seifer took with him, they can stay warm?

'Better than nothing.' She thought as she changed again after noticing the lack of wood they can find. Not like it's a good idea to burn the herbs she has either, not safely anyways. Renee cooed lowly, gesturing towards her wings as she picked the dwarf with her beak and walked away from the opening of the cave.

Once she felt less of a chill is when she laid down, lifted a wing and tucked the dwarf there, safe and warm with Mica curling around the dwarf's head. Then she crossed one front leg over the other to make enough space for a person to lay down and still be warm since she'll lay her neck and head down; covering over them as they rested for the night.

Renee mentioned Seifer over to the space, cooing in encouragement. She's going to nuzzle him if he does.

Seifer immediately hopped in. "Ah!" he suddenly remembered something, and extricated himself from owl-griffin Renee's nuzzling to pull out the blanket from his bag and flap it over her. "Blanket is so thin for this kind of weather." he muttered to himself. "Warm?" he added to her.

Katsuya Katsuya

Renee blinked her owl eyes when he covered her with the bed sheet and chirped at him happily. She nuzzled and gently primed his hair to show her affection and thanks. Hopefully she doesn't run out of manna before the blizzard stops or it would be really bad.

"You're like a pet." chuckled Seifer, hopping back inside the warm hollow between Renee's talon ended front-legs. He rubbed her feathery cheek and pressed his own against it, smiling. He kissed underneath her beak and drew his bag up to take out some fruit he had managed to grab from the room before they left. He hadn't eaten dinner yet and offered his owl griffin girlfriend a peeled orange as he ate some pears, still rubbing her cheek.

It was nice and warm in this nook. He didn't even notice himself falling asleep.

* * * *

Gruff coughing and curses in another language boomed beside Renee as the dwarf warrior finally woke up.

Lydia squinted as the gust of wind that tried to drown out James' voice beat against her face, nodding her head slightly as she used one hand to draw her scarf over her head and held it there, holding his hand tightly with her other as he lead them back towards the tents.

When they were in the tent, Lydia did the same as James and wrapped in a blanket, her eyes somewhat downcast. She just wished he'd never said the words, or at least said something else. She gnawed at her lip nervously as they got settled, the crease in her brow only growing deeper each time she risked a glance at James and caught his expression. She was obviously hiding something.

When James spoke again, Lydia's heart sank and she finally just looked directly at him. Her eyes were already beginning to glisten and she threw her blanket from her and crawled closer to James, shaking her head quickly, "no James!" Her cheeks puffed up in frustration and she fidgeted anxiously, "there.. no... uuuuuurgh!"

She covered her face with her hands, unsure of how to proceed with this and after a moment finally peered through her fingers at James, "he's definitely not more trustworthy and far from better. I never allowed him to do anything."

She wrapped her arms around him, over the blanket and everything, not caring if he returned her embrace, "please James... if you ever trusted me before. If you ever had faith in me, please just trust me now. There has never been anyone else that I have felt about the way I feel about you. Never in my life. I've never let anyone see me or touch me..." she didn't really know how to explain to him the circumstances and was drawing closer and closer to just telling him about Seifer despite how much she didn't want to tell him, she didn't want to lose him more.

Zer0 Zer0

Renee gave him a look that said 'Not a pet; I'm just affectionate, you dork', she nuzzled and hooted quietly so she wouldn't wake the dwarf up. She ate the peeled orange he offered to her, enjoying the tangy fruit. She would've smiled as she noticed him slowly falling asleep and cooed lowly, nuzzling and snuggling with him.

Mica jumped when he heard the coughs and curses from the dwarf and quickly ran into the space Seifer's in, trilling and chuckling urgently to let them know that their injured guest is awake. Renee looked over at the ferret, pausing on the affectionate nuzzling to look over where she tucked the dwarf and slightly lifted her wing to see his condition. She hooted at him in greeting before lightly bopping Seifer with her head, waking him up so he can see their guest is awake.

James didn't move for a while. He then hooked up the blanket Lydia dropped with his foot, then draped it around her. He hugged her back uncertainly, and then fully as he gradually felt consoled. "Okay, I'll trust you." he said somberly and hugged her tighter, rubbing her back reassuringly, though it felt like more for himself. The way he held her, it was like he didn't want her to leave.

He's never seen Lydia so anxious that she spoke so many words at once that were unrelated to arcane lore and that relieved him. So someone did something, but she never meant it to happen. He glared at the tent flap. Who would dare touch her like that? Yet it's someone she wants to protect.

He didn't understand, his first thought was Seifer, but would she protect him? It was probably Chenglei as he was very flirty with, well, everyone, but then he'd never do that. So it was more likely Seth or Sen. Once again it was impossible to know for sure, but that didn't matter. Lydia actually confessed her affections so boldly and with such strength that James was moved.

"I'll trust you." he said again, this time warmly.

- Seifer Rathmore -
" Jagged Ravine, Upland Tundra "

Seifer woke with a start, blinking very sleepily. "What time is it?" he yawned snuggling deeper into Renee's feathers.

"What in blue blazes?!" leaped the dwarf staring at owl griffin Renee in alarm. "Who are you?!" he looked at Seifer.

The archer peered up, decided not to care, and just went back to sleep, mumbling, "Go back under the wing. Blizzard's still raging." The snow storm had been blowing for hours straight. Their little cave hole entrance was slowly being covered up by the snow.

Katsuya Katsuya

She looked around briefly as James collected her discarded blanket, smiling meekly as he draped it around her and nuzzling against him slightly to show her affection for him. She sighed happily as he returned her embrace and rubbed her back, he may have been hugging her like he didn't want her to leave, but she was hugging him like she definitely wasn't going to.

Lydia had seen James angry before and she couldn't help but think that if he cared about her as much as he seemed to, he'd be furious hearing about what happened during the body switch. If it wasn't for Renee and the fact that Seifer still had the dragon soul in him, Lydia very well might have told James about what had happened, as it was, it was too dangerous and if she told James she wasn't sure if she would be able to stop him from lashing out so she didn't want to risk it.

She shivered slightly as he once more said he would trust her and stood on her toes so she could reach his face, holding his face between both of her hands and nuzzling his cheek gently before she lowered to the flats of her feet again and looked him in the eyes seriously, "I'll tell you what happened eventually, James. I promise," she smiled sincerely to him and caressed his cheeks with her thumbs.

Pure ecstasy. Elijah could think of no better way to describe what he was experiencing in that moment. It was all familiar, but it never failed to amaze. Every bit of his mind was filled with strange and wondrous visions as he tread through a vast palace, each room filled with beautiful images which burned into his conscious. He should really do this more often. He vaguely knew that none of it was real, that in reality he was not walking through a crystal palace, but a chilly tundra, snowfall covering the ground below. He knew it to be true; he could feel the cold seeping into his feet as they plodded aimlessly through the snow. Thankfully, it was easy to ignore this fact.

Soon, he wandered out of the palace and into a field of flowers. It was breathtaking. Every kind of flower in existence was there, and many that weren't were as well. Their petals constantly shifted colors, the mesmerizing display impossible to describe. Great, towering trees soundlessly burst out of the ground, casting long shadows on many of the flowers, causing them to wither and turn to dust, blowing away in the gentle breeze. The rest of the flowers continued in their exuberant display.

Suddenly, Elijah felt himself bump against something, and the beautiful and terrifying display seemed to fade, the colors becoming less vivid. The trees began to sway despite their titanic trunks, and Elijah looked with irritation at what blocked his way. The irritation was replaced with excitement as he saw a bizarre penguin, dressed in the garb of a scholar. An unwitting giggle escaped him. "Why hello there!" he exclaimed. "A penguin dressed up like a human! Who would have thought?" He began to feel light-headed, but he was too preoccupied with the cuteness of the animal in front of him to care. "You are just so adorable..." Then, darkness tinted the corner of his vision, and he had a distant sensation of falling before everything went dark.

Renee smiled a warm bird-like smile when Seifer woke up and snuggling into her feathers, her cheeks plumped up as an indication of what she's feeling; she shook her body a bit just to fluff her feathers for him. Then when the dwarf was startled and Seifer only told him to go back to sleep under her wing, the owl griffin sighed silently. Dismissing it like that won't help calm the dwarf.

After gently bopping Seifer again as a scolding manner this time, Renee peeked into his small bag and tries to dig into it before finding what she wanted. Holding delicately in her sharp beak is a green apple and placed it in front of scared dwarf, pushing the fruit with her beak towards him in hopes that he knows they are friendly and want to help.

Her plumes of a tail curled around the dwarf in case he still didn't get it. She won't lay her wing on him until the dwarf calmed down. It would freak him out even more if she forced him. Though her orange eyes are intimidating...according to Echo and Serena. So Renee hoped that the dwarf does not run away now when it's still a cold and snowy grave waiting to happen outside of the cave.

Mica sniffed a bit before crawling closer to her front legs and curled into a ball, now not caring about anyone as he just wanted to sleep.

James actually bent down and puckered his lips when Lydia held his face. 'This is the moment!' he thought, heart hammering excitedly for their first kiss --- and then he chuckled, embarrassed and ears red when he was wrong. He cleared his throat and pressed his cheek back fondly, savoring her affection and thrilled at the closeness of their faces.

He covered her hands on his cheek. "Alright, Lydia . . ." he said, dazed. He seemed too distracted by her thumbs.

"You declared your feelings so boldly. I'm happy." he smiled and hugged her protectively.

He will guard her better. Lydia had no idea how beautiful she was and how alluring some of her natural gestures are, and she's nice. She probably won't fireball a perverted friend.

"Lydia, if I or any of the guys do something lewd for whatever reason, palm thrust our chin up in a surprise attack and then kick us in the jewel, or punch us here sharply." he tapped right below his sternum. "In the solar plexus. Or if you accidentally drink something and you feel like you're going to pass out, summon Sasha. Do you also want my bees? I can easily learn how to conjure another swarm."

Seifer got up slowly. "I'm John, an archer. This is my sweetheart, Jane, she's the girl who saved you. She can turn into an owl-griffin, 'kay?" He went back to sleep.

The dwarf at first looked like he thought it strange to call an owl griffin sweetheart, and the great white beast's orange eyes were intimidating, but she pushed an apple to him and the archer slept between her front legs so carelessly. His wounds had been healed too --- and there was that long rat thing that cured him.

"Forgive me, I thought I was going to be eaten." He looked at Renee, and was slightly offended that the archer went back to sleep when there was a lot of explaining to do, but another bop from Renee was all it took to rouse Seifer again, irritated but willing to talk.

The dwarf's name was Ulfar, he was a warrior from the Stonemaul clan. They were dwarves who lived in an underground settlement, who mined gold and precious jems. They had a visit from their dwarven bretheren from a distant land who required an escort through Baffin. Their bretheren were carrying with them an ancient artifact called, The Eye of Sargeras. Legends say it was the eye of a dragon and it granted the power to read memories and change them.

The dwarven clans had been fighting over it for years and the dwarfs who had been carrying it were travelling to destroy it in a volcano under the sea, but alas those assassins! Such a power should never be in the hands if a group like that. Imagine all that they could do with it.

Renee giggled, sounding like a cooing pigeon with hiccups as she noticed the strange stare she got from Ulfar when Seifer called her his sweetheart. 'Heheheh~!' The transformed teen smiled her bird version of a smile and nodded to the dwarf, accepting his apology. Yep, it's good that he noticed their good intentions. She groomed Seifer's hair comfortingly as they listened to the warrior dwarf, gears turning in her mind.

So Ulfar was traveling with this 'Eye of Sargeras' stone, hoping to drop it in an ocean volcano, only to be surprise attacked by the assassins. When she heard it's supposedly an eye of a dragon and it's powers are for memory reading and control, Renee looked at Seifer intently; curiosity swimming in her orange eyes. Maybe they should take this 'Eye' with them? Since it involves with dragons and they need all the info they can get about the large lizards that can cause mayhem with just one claw. Maybe this eye can help them somehow?

She chirped at Seifer as he would notice the way she's energetically fluttering her wings, trying to tell him that they should help the dwarf.

At James reaction to her collecting his face in her hands, Lydia faltered slightly, her cheeks flushing red. It made her realize that he really wanted to kiss her and only wasn't doing it because she had told him her parents rules on dating. When she rubbed her cheek against his, she was a bit distracted, wondering if she should break her parents' rule and kiss him. The thought made her cheeks hot and she wondered if the gesture would change his opinion of her. What kind of girl would she be if she went against her parents' wish? How could she kiss him after what had just happened, it would almost be like she was using kissing him as a bribe to keep him from worrying about what was previously said. Lydia didn't want that. She wanted their first kiss to be the pinnacle of a more fond memory, not over a regretful secret that would make one of them angry.

A reassuring smile made its way onto her full lips as she looked to him and rubbed his cheeks when he agreed to her words, happy that he was made so content by her touch, though she would glance away a moment, nipping her lower lip slightly as she pondered whether or not she should ask James if he really wanted to kiss but as she decided that talking about it took away some of the magic of it, she chose not to and just looked back to him once again smiling. She shrugged her shoulders slightly in embarrassment as he mentioned how she talked about her feelings, "we-well... um..." she giggled nervously and shook her head before shrugging again, "i-it's just the truth."

She squeaked happily as he hugged her and rubbed her cheek against his chest as she hugged him back, "I-I-I'll... I'll have to tell you..." she swallowed hard, not wanting to say something he'd think was silly, "I'll tell you more often..."

Leaning back as he went on about how to defend herself, she was undoubtedly shocked by his words, though she still listened intently to him before shaking her head, "J-James... you're too..." she sighed in such a dreamy way it could warm the icy heart of a devil, "you."

Quickly wrapping her arms around him again, she squeezed him tightly as she continued, "I know you wouldn't do anything.. unseemly, and none of the other boys would either because they know I'm yours," she didn't let him know it, but she probably had been for a long time even though she previously wouldn't have admitted to it. She glanced up at him with an amused look on her face, "you don't need to give me your summons all the time, you already gave me Sasha... and on the off chance something like that happens to me, I have you... right?"

The last words she spoke were said in such a way that it was evident Lydia never expected to be apart from James and the tone she used laced the words with so much more meaning than one would expect.

Seifer gave Renee a dead-panned look that clearly said he didn't want anything to do with assassins. You don't mess with assassins. "Sweetheart, let's have a talk just beyond that pillar of ice." he pointed some ways deeper into the cave.

When they go there Seifer shook his head, "No. You promised me that we are going back if the situation is dangerous. And this is dangerous." he crossed his arms. "We already have deathknights and the black dragon for enemies, you want to add the assassin's guild to our list of foes?"

"Yes, I'll send them to the hospital." said James plopping down the furs and leaning back with Lydia in his arms like that time they napped together. He grinned at her jovially, rubbing the side of her nose. "I can see your boogers, they look frozen." he chuckled. "Lydia, if you ever became a booger, I would pick you first."

Then he smirked. "How do you know I won't do anything? Haven't you heard that a gentleman is only a patient wolf?" he tickled her sides, then sighed up adoringly at her. "I'll tell you often too." he said snugly burying his nose in her hair. He played with her ponytail. "You're like oatmeal: simple, solid, warm and nice. You're also like a blanket, the way I feel covered right now with your love. I love that you're so clever, and the way you dress, you give off this modest sophistication that altogether with your level of maturity makes you elegant. And your prowess in magic, creating your own spells that work to such an effect, and yet you're still meek it's like awesomeness wrapped in bacon."

James' compliments were mostly comparisons on the things he found pleasurable to the touch and wonderful to taste. He went on, from describing how Lydia cocooning herself in furs made her look like a cute pill bug, to how she got angry was like an intense potato.

Renee nodded and followed Seifer, changing as a flurry of feathers surrounded the couple as they hid behind the piller. She heard what he has to say and that threw a wrench in her plan to help the dwarf. She sighed quietly as she pulled up her hood so Ulfar doesn't see her wings on her head.

"Yes, I know I promised. It would be really bad if the assassins were included in our list of people chasing us." With the Order at the starting line. Master Bertrand would definitely want to know what's going on with Luthein mostly. Then there's Greed possibly chasing them thanks to keeping Master Bertrand alive, and the last deathknight, Gluttony.

"However.." Renee looked over at Ulfar's direction with dimming glowing eyes. "This is important too. He mentioned about an eye to a dragon with possible memory powers. That's just as dangerous if we leave it alone. What if the Black dragon takes that? Hm? He might even use it against you and make you forget about everything once it hears about it from somewhere." By everything, she meant everything: the connections he's having with others, learning that hard work does pay off, his mother...Their relationship and the moments they made together. Everything! All just so the dragon can control him.

She doesn't know how the black dragon would hear about it nor does she want to consider Seifer as a possible leak. If that does happen...Then she rather take that stone and destroy it herself. Dragon research or not.

Then she sighed and looked down. Her wings went limp under her hood. Then again...Maybe it's better not helping? But then Ulfar would face them alone just to get it back. "Can't we just...Help Ulfar to destroy the stone? If it does have that power, then we'll just destroy it after trying it out."

Then she peeked at Seifer from under her hood. "Besides...You made our names 'John and Jane'. How would they know it's Seifer and Renee that took the stone? Hm?" She is willing to listen to her boyfriend, open with anything he might throw at her. It's obvious with the way she looked at him with accepting and willing orange eyes. She won't be stubborn, but she will point out the pros and con's if they don't help the dwarf.

Seifer was very adamant about not risking their lives, arguing that this was the safer path for both of them, but Renee got him at "mother". He looked up at the icy ceiling, sighing in consideration. "We get the Eye of Sargus, I'm not going to try it out, we give it to the dwarf, and then we go home? I don't want to dive in the ocean and into a volcano, Renee, what if it erupts when the eye is destroyed?"

Renee smiles warmly at Seifer and wraps her arms around his waist, looking up at him with wide and glowing eyes. "That's fine with me, Sweetie." It's better that she doesn't know what that stone can do; Could alarm the black dragon for all she knows. Call her paranoid or overthinking it's potential powers, but she didn't want to risk that.

The Pendragon teen tippy-toed to kiss his cold cheek, her wings fluttering under her hood awkwardly. "You're really brave, Seifer." She giggled quietly as she rubbed noses with him in an Eskimo kiss.
