Homebrew DnD 5e Campaign

How quickly can you pull up a character sheet?
I'll probably be able to get it up soon. This is my first D&D character so any help would be appreciated. (I am not a complete novice, as I've have watched a crap ton of video's about D&D and roleplaying in general.)
I'll be a ranger (to partially help counteract are party's lack of a cleric) who will hopefully multi-class into a sorcerer due to some event in the campaign. (If your down with that of course.)

Question: Are we going to be optimising our characters or are we focusing on roleplaying? I assume the latter but I want to make sure.

That's fine yes. And yes, the focus will indeed be the roleplaying part, but if you want to optimize your character go ahead.

If there is still space, I'd be willing to join.

I did say I need 4 to 5 people, but one more shouldn't hurt. I'll need to change only a couple of small things, so it'll be fine.

I need both of your sheets in the next 5 or 6 hours, can you get them done before then?

Quest accepted.

Well... Looks like I'll have to drop out since I only have experience playing the regular 5e with the PHB, so I doubt I'll be able to pop together a Homebrew character in five hours...

That's fine. You character doesn't need to be homebrew.

As a frame of reference, the Campaign will take place in a Homebrew universe that I've been cultivating for the past decade. The time it takes to create something Homebrew in DnD is sole determined by how detailed you need to be. A character? Well, you're technically creating one every-time you fill out a character sheet. A player race? Those can take anywhere from 5 hours to 2 weeks. A whole world? I've seen DMs discuss homebrewing their world for months before the Campaign actually began.

Oh I was just trying to be funny. Thanks for the help anyway.
I personally enjoy worldbuilding myself quite a bit.
Speaking off, Half-elves are a thing in your world right?

Yes, they are. The humans are still relatively new to the main continent as already said, so the Elves haven't had enough time to know them for such things to be taboo. Well... the Dark Elves at least.

I've just lost all of the work I had on my CS. Thankfull I've mainly just been looking stuff up so I can redo it.

Quick question: What types of homebrew materials are we using for this? Any material or specific materials?

Yes, Kalin Scarlet Kalin Scarlet is correct in that the entire world is Homebrew. It will still have the stereotypical fantasy materials like Mithril, Orichalcum, etc etc.

That's fine. I'm extending the time limit to 1PMEST tomorrow, for the character sheets. Once that hits, I'll post the opener for the Campaign regardless if I have everyone's sheets at the time.
