Homebrew DnD 5e Campaign

ZeiruliousMakavar ZeiruliousMakavar Could you give me a bit more info on the Dragonborn in your world? And also how being a Paladin works?

They work pretty much the same as vanilla DnD. It's been awhile since I read the 5e Player Handbook, but these Dragonborn have a trait called "Dragonic Origins", simply put you choose a dragon type as your dragon ancestors. This trait gives your character buffs depended on the dragon type you choose. Oh, they're also as long lived as dragons.

Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of Tieflings played either.

ZeiruliousMakavar ZeiruliousMakavar What's the situation with the Gods/Divine Magic?I know you said there are no immortal Gods but are there other mortal figures tht serve as Gods?

Pretty much, "Gods" are just really powerful mages that have cults in some of the cities and town. The larger cities have official cults associated with them, and The entire dwarven civilization worships dragons as their gods.

EDIT: Like I think I mentioned, this RP takes place in a 'young' world, where magic is a new thing and swords still mostly beat spells. Over time, that WILL change however, as the cults slowly become religions and people begin to forget that their gods used to be mortals like them.

I should probably ask the same of tieflings. If you haven't seen them often, you might not have been expecting to include any here.

Tieflings are fine. As I said, I haven't had any experience with them so I don't have any opinion on how they'll have changed in this world. So long as it fits in the "This is a world new to magic" setting, it should be fine.

1) Stats. Point buy or Standard Array?

2) Gear. The PHB has starting items for each class and background. Do you want us to use those or start with a set amount of gold and buy what we want?

3) Restrictions. Anything off the top of your head you don't want in your game?

2) Use the phb given items.

3) Don't think so unless someone is going to be making a character that focuses on magic. No Psion-based characters yet also.

Alright. I think I'll be playing a Dragonborn Paladin. Probably one of those 'draws power from the strength of their beliefs' instead of the ones that just follow Gods.

Haha I wasn’t sure how many you already had

Sweet! I skimmed over a bit of the thread, seems like we might need a Cleric. I’ll probably be a high elf...
