Fandom Hamilton AU - Additional IC

Alexander had enough. He slammed his hand down on a desk. "Burr, it's none of your goddamn business!" He shouted. "I am fine! I am completely, utterly, totally fucking FINE!"


peggy laughed in her corner of the room. This was entertaining.
 
"Fine! Whatever! Forget about it!" Burr yelled, calming down a bit. "You're too stressed Alex. Let me help. What do you need? Money? Do I need to put someone in their place? Tell me. I can help..." Burr said softly. If Hamilton wasn't going to budge and tell him what was wrong, he at least wanted to help.

"I don't need help." Alexander whispered. "I can do this. I just need some time, space, and a calculator." He sat at his desk and started warming up his trumpet, doing as much mental math as he could. 
 
"Calculator...?" Burr muttered. "What could you possibly need a calculator for? Alex, what the hell did you get yourself into?!" Burr paused. "Alex, is this about money? Come on, I can help you. Stop refusing my help."

Alexander didn't reply. But Peggy did. "Burr, I can explain it to you, but Hamilton doesn't want help. He thinks he can do it all on his own." Peggy walked over to Burr. She was still upset that she was ignored half of the time, but she wasn't about to let Hamilton work himself to death.

Burr jumped when he heard Peggy's voice. He hadn't even heard her come into the band room. Was she already in there when Burr walked in? "Hamilton is an idiot, Peggy. If you knew how much of an idiot he really was..." He didn't finish the sentence. He couldn't. That would've gotten Alex into some deep trouble. "Alex, can I please help you?" He said, his voice strained. He would never take Burrs help. It was useless. "You're impossible, Alex." He muttered.

Peggy felt hatred rise up in her and she glared at the ground. Why even bother trying? Why? No one listens to you! No one ever listens!  She calmly walked to the door and left the room. Alexander put down his trumpet.


"Reynolds is extorting me. $150 a month. And Mr. Schuyler is kicking Eliza out for being pregnant. I need to get us an apartment. Prenatal care costs $200 a visit. I'm barely going to be able to pay for it all. I mean, $9 an hour, twelve hours a day, seven days a week. I'm going to be making just over three thousand a month. With the down payment on an apartment and rent, I'll be out a thousand. Then I have to pay off Reynolds. After prenatal care, I'm barely going to be able to afford food, and college is out of the picture."


Alexander wiped at his watering, tired eyes. "I work from 3:30-9:30 and 10:00-4:00 every night. Then I have to do homework. I don't have time to sleep. I barely have time to eat, but I don't have the money..."

Burr was shocked. He didn't know what to say. "WHAT?!" That was the only thing that escaped his mouth. "You idiot..." Burr muttered. "Dammit Alex. I wish there was some way I could help. I really wish there was. I don't have that kind of money. I can't help you. I'm so sorry." A tear escaped Burrs eye. "I'm gonna fucking kill Reynolds. Why is he doing this to you? It's not like he cares about his sister. He's just doing this for the money!"

Alexander shook his head, picking up his trumpet. "I can do this. I can. I'm okay. I'm fine. Just smile and pretend you're fine, and maybe someday it'll be true. Right? Talk less, smile more?" Alexander let out a bitter laughed. "Do whatever it takes to get through this." Alexander started playing again, but the tears falling down his face betrayed the mask of indifference he'd tried to put on.

Peggy walked into the girl's bathroom. She spent a few moments trying to calm down before slamming her fist onto the rim of one of the sinks. "Invisible. That's what you are. Invisible." She said this quite loudly, her frustration becoming volatile.

"I guess you're right... But what if something happens? What if Reynolds goes back on his word? What if he's just toying with you?" Burr sighed.


"Alex...?" Burr shrunk himself into the seat. He just remembered. "Oh god, Alex. Shit!" Now he was freaking out. He had totally forgot! "Alex, I'm not trying to steal the spotlight, but I think I screwed up. A lot. Maybe. I don't know. I forgot! I can't believe I forgot!" Burr paused and gulped. "According to Thomas... Theodosia is, well... Erm. According to Thomas, Theodosia is apparently engaged." Burr sunk his face into his hands. "Good job brain. You forget a piece of very valuable information and remember it at the last second!"

(I chose to make Burr remember that Theodosia is engaged because why the hell not? xD)

Alexander laughed. "Sucks to be you, huh?" Alexander said bitterly. "Not like you are in a financial mess that you have to dig yourself out of all alone. And who cares? Everyone knows Theodosia has had her eye on you for ages."
 
Burrs eye twitched. "That was selfish of me. You have problems of your own. But holy shit, Alex. I care. It's unsettling. If her fiancé finds out, I'm screwed. He'll probably beat me into a pulp." Burr said, his voice sounded disturbing. "That's what Thomas said, he said that Theodosia has had her eye on me, but that doesn't put me in the clear. I'm still screwed either way." Burr muttered.

"Her fiance is in Georgia." Alexander pointed out. "You have nothing to worry about." Alexander sighed heavily. "If she is dating you, it's because she cares about you more than she does her fiance. It'll probably end soon anyways."
 
Burr sighed. Alexander made some good points. "I guess you're right. You know, Alex, when you're not freaking out, you make great points." Burr muttered. "Oh, hey. I didn't tell you yet. I'm running for student class president." He grinned. "Thomas is too."
