It was almost time to go to class. The bell would ring any minute, but Tiny loitered beside her locker as if she had all the time in the world. While everyone else scrambled to prepare, she focused on fixing her bangs. There was no need to gather textbooks or anything since she could just “borrow” them from one of her many fans.

After deciding that her hair was the right amount of shiny and bouncy, she spun around and waited...impatiently, for a certain swallow to show up.

Five minutes after snooze was hit for the third time, the alarm rang again. The fourth ring was the one that jolted the half-asleep swallow from her bed and into the bathroom. After brushing her tangled feathers and slapping on the hat she wore every day, Willow cruised out the door.

The walk to the school building was her favorite. Earbuds in, she was blasting Pierce the Veal as she inhaled crisp morning air until finally reaching the entrance. "Hi, miss," she greeted the security guard and headed for her locker.

"Crap!" When Willow saw who she was keeping waiting, her cruise turned into a race.

"Oh, uh, hey Tiny! You're here early..." The swallow was out-of-breath from the jog down the hallway. "Did I keep you waiting long?"

A beaming smile danced across Tiny’s mouth when she saw her best friend emerge from the crowd. “Slept in again?” she asked, giggling. “I would’ve woke you up, but you looked so cute, I didn’t wanna bother you!”

Leaving out the part where she snapped some very unflattering photos of her roommate’s drool-covered face, Tiny changed the subject. She held out her hands, as if expecting something. “So? Did you finish that essay for me? It’s due today, you know~”

The beaked girl did her best to hide a shy smile. It was at moments like this that she realized why all the kids go wild for this adorable pipsqueak. Still, Willow knew enough to not take the compliment too seriously. It’d be naive to fall for her friend’s act so easily.

“Wait, essay?!” Her lazy eyes shot open, eyelids uncovering terrified eyes. She was definitely awake now. “Tiny, I forgot... Oh man, dude...” The night before played back in her mind like a movie, her late night smoking sesh ending with her sprawled out on her bed and not at the desk. Then, nothing. She fell asleep.

The sparrow covered her gaping mouth with a hand, readying herself for whatever was about to be unleashed onto her.

Tiny’s arms dropped to her side, hands clenched into tight, shaking fists. The little mouse’s smile remained, but venom laced her cheerful tone. “Oh, that’s okay! I won’t need it ‘til after lunch, so there’s still lots of time for you to finish!”

She leapt forward, latching onto Willow’s arm in what looked like an affectionate hug. Squeezing tightly, claws digging into the bird’s wing, she whispered. “You don’t want anyone to find out what you do at night, right? Then make sure you don’t “forget” next time.”

“...Got it.”

An awkward smile crept across her face and she squirmed a little to escape the small but powerful grasp. Turning, she clicked her locker open, knowing it was hers from the decaying sticker on it. It was messy and even had some accessories lying around.

A photo of Wave was taped to the inner wall of the locker. Willow grabbed a large textbook, the title “Health 4 Teens” emblazoned on it. “You worry too much,” she tried clearing the air, “I didn’t forget—I just knew I could do it during the day, during class! Chill out.”

She patted the fuming mouse’s shoulder, although she was a bit scared to do so. “Come on, wanna have a seat in class? I prepared some toasted seeds for breakfast!”

A switch was flipped at the mention of food. Squealing with delight, Tiny bounced up and down. She was back to normal, or at least what was considered normal to everyone else. “Yay! My favourite!”

Once again clinging onto her captive, she poured on the sugary compliments that she was known for. “You make them just the way I like ‘em! I bet you’ll be like one of those famous guys on TV! What are they called? Oh, yeah...chefs!”

On the outside, Tiny may have seemed pleased, but in her mind she was deciding on which ugly picture to plaster all over school in case her good pal couldn’t keep a promise.

She squeezed Willow’s arm a little tighter. “You really are the best, Willy-nilly!”

Hard as she may have tried, Willow couldn’t resist flushing from the compliment, despite very well knowing it wasn’t much aside from hot air. It never was anything else, not from her or anyone. She caught herself staring into space once again and shook herself out of it.

“Yeah, yeah.” The purple bird sighed before heaving the weight of herself and her companion down the hall.

It wasn’t long until they were in sight of their classroom and, outside of it, she could spot their teacher idling by. “Hey, lookit, Ms. Rogue...” Her beaked head moved to the side a bit and large eyes squinted in gesture as she tried to get a better view. “Who’s she talking to?”

The large silhouette couldn’t hide itself much longer and revealed itself as belonging to their fat principal, Mr. Robotnik—better known to the student body as Eggman. “Oh, gross... Why’s she all over him, of all people?”

Snickering, the rodent indulged in her own bit of gossip.”I know, right? I bet she hooked up with every guy in the school!”

As they wandered closer, Tiny’s attitude did a backflip. Wearing her brightest smile, she skipped up to the exact same bat she was trash-talking just a moment ago. “Good mooorning, Ms. Rouge,” she greeted. “You look as pretty as always!”

Turning to their bald, flabby principal, she added. “You too, Egg—I mean, Mr. Robotnik! Good morning!”

Infinite had never been a good boy. Once upon a time he was the leader of his own gang, a bunch of punks that shoved kids into lockers and gave wedgies so wicked that your underwear had to be surgically removed. That was before Shadow got all of them expelled. Principal Eggman must have seen some kind of potential in him, since he was the only one let off the hook.

On top of being spared, Infinite was also given the highest position of power any student could hope to have: hall monitor. The cheap sash was his badge of authority, and he donned it with pride. He was even allowed to wear an awesome mask, as long as he behaved.

“How pitiful...” The jackal thought aloud as he watched everyone scurry around the hallway. “Running around like the insignificant little insects they are. Pathetic.”

Charmy Bee was happily buzzing his way through the hallways of the school, ready to start a new day. Despite being only 6 years old, the young bee was somehow already in high school, and he was seen as off kilter by other students for enjoying his classes. "Do what you want 'cause a student is free! You are a student! Yar har, fiddle dee dee! Being in high school is alright with me! Do what you want 'cause a student is free! You are a student!" Charmy happily sang as he was flying towards his first class, noticing Tiny and Willow there as well.

"Morning, girls~! Ready for another great day at school~?" Charmy buzzed happily to the girls.

Leaning against the doorframe, she tried her best to not outright tell the round man next to her to shoo. Her acute bat senses caught the sound of her students finally making their appearances and Rogue could hardly contain a relieved sigh. “I’ll see you around, Doctor.” She purred, immediately turning away to face her students. “Hello there, kids! Oh, Tiny, you’re too nice. Good morning Willow, Charmy!”

“Oh, hey Charmy. I’m not sure about ‘great,’ but yeah. It’s another day at school, for sure.” Willow was a few steps behind her outgoing friend, as always, and only grumbled a “Hello” to greet their teacher before scurrying into the classroom.

Like a predator bares its fangs when its about to tear into unsuspecting prey, Tiny angled a sunny smile at the bee. “Class just wouldn’t be the same without you, Charmy!” she giggled, booping him on the nose. “You should sit next to me and Willy today! I got something to ask you guys. Something...” she leaned in closer and lowered her voice, “...Secret.”

Winking at him, the mouse scampered into class and took a seat at her usual spot.

"Alright! Let's go for it!" Charmy buzzed happily as he sat down in a seat next to Tiny. Even though people saw him as off kilter for liking school so much, Charmy liked pretty much everyone, even Tiny. "I wonder what we'll be doing in class today! Math? English? Spanish? History? All the above? I sure hope so! Learning can be so much fun!" The young bee continued to buzz happily, annoying some of his classmates.

“We’re in health class, silly!” Tiny laughed, holding up the textbook she swiped from the girl sitting next to her. She didn’t need to ask; they were friends, and friends shared everything.

There was still some time left before Ms. Rouge began her lesson. All of the noise would mask what the devilish little mouse was about to propose to her two classmates. “Hey, you know how we have math next period?” she asked in a whisper. “What if we, like, didn’t go? Get what I mean?”

With a twinkle in her eyes, she continued. “We can get a head start on the hedge maze. Nobody’s made it to the end yet. We’ll be the first ones!”

Willow sat at the far end, choked by her overbearing bestie on one side and a pretty decent view on the other. It sure was cold—good thing she had her Sleeping with Seals hoodie on. A bunch of blabbering went on to her right but the sparrow could barely pay mind to it, aside from a passing feeling of pity for Charmy.

Eyes wandering the slowly filling classroom, Willow simply watched Rogue walk in and sit at her desk to read something. It was the teacher’s plan for the day. With a sigh, the bat got up to scribble “HORMONES” on the chalkboard before throwing herself back into her seat. Propping her feet onto the desk, she pulled out a magazine to read.

“What?!” Willow snapped her head to the side upon finally catching onto what Tiny and Charmy were talking about. “I mean, sounds like a good idea to me.” She snickered at the thought of avoiding the bore-fest that was math class. “I doubt Charmy would be up for it. Isn’t that right, Charmy?”

Crystal walked into the schools front door, taking a deep breath before wandering the halls looking for her first class

"I hope I don't get mother as a teacher" she stated softly to herself

She then thought back to what her mother had said just a month earlier.

"Crystal, sweetie, we are moving to a new city" Gale stated

"But why mom?" Crystal asked

"Because I'm going to be teaching at a school in Green Hills...."

Her thoughts trailed before being shaken out of them by her own mother Gale.

"Mother?!" She recoiled in surprise

"Crystal" she chuckled "just calm down honey, and please try to make some new friends" she smiled warmly before guiding her daughter to her classroom, which contained an assortment of animals, including a bat, and a bee (if I remember correctly charmy was the bee)

Charmy's eyes widened at Tiny suggesting to skip their next class to head to the hedge maze. "Skip class?! But I've never missed a class ever since I started high school!" He told the tiny mouse in dismay. Charmy was a very dilligent student, something other students often teased him for, but it made him popular with the teachers, and the young bee often had a lot of stars on the Good Noodles board in every class he attended.

“Oh, c’mon!” Tiny urged. “It’s only one class. Nobody will even notice that we’re gone!”

As if aware that her argument didn’t hold enough weight, she poured an extra thick, extra syrupy layer of honey on top. “Think about it. If you do this, you’ll be the coolest bee in school! Everyone will wanna be your friend, Charmy!”

She was in the middle of a yawn and an article about rockstar Manic the Hedgehog when the new student she heard about finally appeared. “Oh, hello, sweetie.” Rouge threw the magazine to the side and walked up to the tiny wolf girl with open arms. After giving her a squeezing hug, the bat gave a reassuring wink her colleague. “I got it, Gale, don’t worry! She’ll be safe with me.”

She turned sharply to face the chattering class. “Helloooo, kids! We have a new student in class and I want you all to be nice. Umm, what’s your name, kid––I mean, sweetie? Go on, introduce yourself to your new friends.”

---

Seeing the master manipulator in her rodent friend shine would’ve made anyone else grimace, but Willow thought it was morbidly hilarious. “Yeah, sure. That’s if we don’t get caught by that doofus hall monitor, ICK-finite!” Hearing Ms. Rouge call their attention to the pure new student, the sparrow shook her head, sensing what was about to happen. "You better not try anything, Tiny..."

As if the utterance of his name summoned him from the depths of hell, Infinite appeared. Thanks to hallway patrols, he usually missed the first few minutes of class, but always managed to slip in seamlessly, unnoticed. Today would be different.

Infinite didn’t anticipate a roadblock. He ended up bumping right into the new student. The mask hid his expression, but the cold stare made it clear that he didn’t think much of the little wolf. Without so much of an apology, he pushed past her and took a seat at the very back of the room, in the furthest, darkest corner.

Crystal remained silent, looking at the many eyes on her, she quietly stated "my name is Crystal" she tried to hide her uneasyness, but didn't work out well

“Oof! Ugh, Infinite...” Remembering she’s on the job, Rouge softened her grumbling glare as she refocused. “Ah, yes, nice to meet you, Crystal. Have a seat wherever you like!” The bat glided back to her comfy seat at her desk. “Hmm, now where was I?” She mused and opened the magazine to ogle the green rockstar on the page.

(Who knew Rogue had a thing for Sonics brother from a different timeline, lol)

Crystal slowly moved to an empty seat near the window, trying to keep to herself

Tiny’s round ears perked up, and every star in the universe glittered in her eyes. “Ohmygosh, hiii!” she squeaked, putting on her best smile for the new kid. “Your fur is such a pretty colour! Do you dye it?”

Without waiting for a response, she babbled on. “You should totally hang out with us later! We’ll show you around! There’s this super awesome maze we’re gonna check out after class, wanna come with?”
