Realistic or Modern GLASS [A Modern Superhuman Story]

He picked up the knocked out STONE member and loaded him up into a SUV that the others used to get there. The backup. Tying him up in the seatbelts and ziptying his hands. He went back to the docks to see no one in the immediate area. "That's everyone..." He holstered his pistol. All people involved in the deal were either dead or ran away at this point.

He walked over to the edge of the Dock. He didn't trust alot of people in GLASS, most of them were too loyal for his taste. Loyalty plus stupidty equals bad times. And if something does happen he doesn't want to be stuck in GLASS.

He has heard multiple reports if activity here. Mostly assuming they were getting supplies. He walked back to the others, including the doctor and asked the doc, "Can I talk to you for a moment? In private preferably." Stas seemed semi worried, but was keeping his cool.

Doctor Gareth
The firefight was brief, a few shots fired, none of which were his. He had loaded his newly developed round, which allowed tracking once the bullet entered the body, as well as to track vitals. He wasn't going to waste them on a few goons.
And just like that, Gareth tucked his pistol back within his holster, which rested beside his rib. He quickly glanced over at John, who seemed as calm as himself. The man reminded him awfully of a younger self, which somewhat worried him. He was quite cocky, as well as a cold-blooded killer. Boy how have the times have changed. Staring at the ground, his mind flooded with some of the victems, brief flickers of faces that would never erase his endless memory.
Stas's words snapped him back into reality, as he looked up he allowed his amber eyes to study the man. He seemed concerned, almost anxious oddly enough. Nodding his head, he followed Stas with his hands tucked in his coat, and once there were far enough he leaned against a lamp post. "What's on your mind?" The doctors eyes kept their cold gaze on the younger man.

He follows Gareth, standing close to him at the pole, close enough so that he can hear at a nice speaking level. "I need some help with something. GLASS, and STONE. I know you don't care much for either of them but I need to get away from GLASS. I did just fine as a mercenary, but now I'm too far down the rabbit hole" he says looking up at the GLASS HQ.
"I need help and advice. I could always fake my death but thats a pain in the ass to deal with for my hole life, and STONE might kill me on sight if I try to take refruge there." He rubs his face with his gloved hand.
He pauses for a moment. His hand was next to his holster. He trusted Gareth, but he was ultimately unpredictable. Being drunk and all. Stas pulled a small flask from his boot and drank some. "I just figured that the docks are relatively unmonitered and telling you over phone could be.... Traced, it was now or never" he is just rambling at this point. Stas never shows worry or stress much but this was just plain on anxiety distilled. Trying to explain things that don't need explaining and such

Squit No. 7295014657 "Brent" - Squit Raiding Squad

Now trapped permanently inside the jar, they had little else to do but continue feasting. But eventually, as time went on, they slowed down, and then stopped entirely, all of them becoming full. Soon, he was lying down on the top of the eroded sandwich, body bloated outwards with the amount of material he'd just absorbed. And now, the circle of life was to begin.

Little by little, each member of the squad began to morph, the mass around their stomachs slowly changing shape. It pulled up and away from their bodies, the connection becoming thinner and thinner, before splitting off entirely, dropping to the ground with a squelch. Over the next few minutes, these new blobs began to take form, arms and legs being molded out of them. Soon enough, they had eyes and mouths and everything else, and just like that, they'd doubled their population. The process complete, they all, both old and new, began to feast again.

And so they did it all again. And again. And again...

Alexis Morton "Pura"

Alexis didn't even have a chance to respond to Johnathan before the X-ranks effortlessly knocked out a STONE member who'd wandered too close, disabling him easily. As much as she didn't particularly like being hands-on like that herself, she appreciated the impressive efficiency of it all. It certainly got the job done, that much was true.

As it turned out, her particular abilities proved to be unnecessary in the subsequent fight, with bullets being more heavily traded than powers. In fact, other than protecting herself from a stray telekinetically-thrown knife, she didn't have to use them at all. Soon enough, any threats were eliminated, both STONE and anyone they'd been dealing with either dead or long gone.

They'd be more useful alive, perhaps, but that didn't mean they were useless dead. Once it was all over, she took over to do her usual post-operation duties, directing the few C-ranks around to process and document all the bodies. Leaning down next to one of them, she took out a camera, snapping a picture of his (thankfully intact) face, as well as any notable injuries. Identifying the bodies was an important task, if only keep a clear idea of how strong STONE was at any given time.

Connor Morton "Booster"

Having now merged with Ella, Connor did his best to mimic her actions, following her moves, something that was thankfully helped by having done this so many times before. The experience was still as surreal as it'd always been, however - the feeling of not actually being in control, of just channeling your power into someone else.

Still, it was a feeling that was somewhat mitigated by the training he'd undergone under STONE, something he'd very much appreciated. It also had the interesting side effect of bringing him more 'in sync' with whoever he'd merged with - he could almost predict what they were going to do before they did it, almost feel what they were feeling, and he assumed they could do the same with him. It also opened up some new possibilities; by taking over some of the strain of controlling powers and actions, he gave the person more capability, sometimes even allowing them to develop their powers in totally new ways that they couldn't normally.

Yolya replied; "Hey James," James spoke again. Yolya replied again; "What use will have if I was there? I try to convince them to use nonviolence, but they always go back to fighting. It seems foolish to me." James spoke again. "Alright, let's go. We can talk on the way."

Small Pennsylvania District
On the Road to the Seaport

The area was calm and quiet. A little too calm and quiet. Small Pennsylvania was the oldest district in Hale. At least, it looked the oldest. Barely any crime happens in this part of the city. However, the district next door, The Valley, was filled to the brim with crime. This is where Yolya and Rick got assaulted.

As Yolya and James walked on the road heading to the seaport, monitors placed by GLASS on rooftops were recording their every action. Now, reinforcements were on their way to deal with the rebel scum.

Yolya stroked up a conversation. "Do you think the people at STONE or GLASS feel guilty for their actions?"

He stood up, brushing himself off. "Maybe it's for the best if that lot gets captured. Most of the Strike Team save myself is over there... If they get captured by GLASS I could finally start running STONE the right way." He looked up, contemplating it, and set off towards the dockyards. "The least we can do is check the situation."

Doctor Gareth
The doctor's eyes stared at Stas unintentionally, it was a natural instinct. He would be in deep focus, remembering every detail, and every word. But the words surprised him, coming from his mouth. He wanted to leave GLASS? Tucking his hands into his grey overcoat, calmly watching the man get more anxious by the minute. For a second he thought about pulling his flask, but if any memories were hindered by it, it could damage the situation.
"Well i'm just glad you spoke up, because if you didn't you would've done something erratic, which you would regret." Leaning his metal leg against the pole, hitting with a clank from under his shoe heel he continued. "Faking a death is to risky, as well as a clear involvement with myself. I'll help you out, but not here. My lab in GLASS has no cameras, since most of my work is classified, if STONE got hold of the footage it'd be a bloody mess." Quickly glancing at his watch, "Midnight you come to my lab, we can have a proper conversation then. For now I swear if you do anything to reveal any hesitation to GLASS, your toast. So stay cool." Clasping his arm on the man's shoulder, he turned away and began to make his way back to the group.

Hale's Abandoned Seaport

Yolya and James have been walking through the abandoned seaport. It was abandoned because of a GLASS and STONE fight. STONE set off a bomb to kill the GLASS agents, which in process destroyed a power plant. The whole Seaport lost power and people feared the Seaport will catch on fire by loose electricity. It was taken over by STONE, yet they barely seem to use it.

Thinking for a minute what James had said, Yolya finally replied, "I don't think we should purposely get people captured. We need to teach STONE and GLASS the ways of the Lord. We will have to..." Yolya cut himself off. He knew it was impossible for STONE to listen. Yet, Yolya believes people can change. He did, after all.

Yolya and James were 1/2 mile away from the docks. They saw a couple of GLASS members in the distance.

Tilly stepped up, touching Yvelle's shoulder lightly. "I can scout ahead, see how many people are guarding the place," she volunteered. "So long as you guys can guard me for a couple minutes while I use my power." It was a bit of a risky thing to offer; not that she would be in danger, but because she was a new recruit she was worried that she would be looked down upon if she did badly. She didn't her anxiety get the better of her though. She could do this no problem.

"Alas, we live in a world where settling people with the ways of the lord is an art of days long gone. The least we could do is ensure that if they do fight, they fight for good." He sighed, seeing the GLASS agents ahead. Then, he shrugged. They didn't know his face, he wasn't a wanted man. He did whisper to Yolya "We ought to get to the others, better to be fighting 1 engagement where we're outnumbered than two." Trying to keep up the facade, he approached nonchalantly, seeing if they'd let him pass without a question.

"I'll go with you, I'm probably the best equipped to get you back in one piece if we do run into anyone," Alexis replied to Tilly, getting up off the ground. Being a higher rank than most people here had its advantages. As it turned out however, scouting ahead would be unnecessary, as a thick black cloud of ash and smoke appeared not too far away, clearly visible from here. She'd recognise that power anyway - Cinder was a notorious member of the STONE strike team.

Looking in that direction, she could see some GLASS agents already over there, including one girl with electrical powers, all of them struggling to deal with the buffeting black storm. It was hard to tell from here, but it didn't look there was anyone but C-ranks attempting to deal with the situation. She turned to Johnathan.

"Sir, I think we may all be needed over there. Any idea what's going on?"

It was at this point that she also caught sight of two people walking up to them from the other side. She snapped her neck to look at them, and was relieved to see that it was just a pair of civilians, as far she could tell. Still, they would need to be dealt with.

"Okay, I need one of you to keep those two anyway," she said, motioning to the two figures still approaching them. "The last thing we need is civilians wandering in here and getting hurt. The rest of you, get in formation and head over there with me." She motioned towards the ever-growing black cloud. "And be prepared for hostiles."

She herself began to walk towards the danger, regardless of whether anyone followed her or not. Unless an X-rank told her otherwise, she was going to help out there - she couldn't bear to stand and watch when she could be doing so much more.

Stas nodded at his words. Relieved by the doctors calm and collected demeener. "Thank you doc, ill see you soon". Stas has seemed to regain his stern posture, being the rock he was once more. He stays there for a moment drinking the extreamly powerful alcoholic beverage from his flask. Calming himself down at the moment so he can speak and act without a cloudy mind. After around 3 minutes he followed the Doc back. He sat down on a nearby crate, Unaware of what was going on around him. Deep thought cancelled out most of his senses, he was trying to think of a good plan but nothing came to mind.

He stood back up and went up to Alexis "Stand back, dont get this squad killed with reklessness, she may be just a scout. but look around you, we are in perfect cross fire conditions if we follow her." He said pointing up to the nearby containers towering over the large open area in the shipyard "We should wait for someone else to make a move, easier to defend a bottleneck"

Alexis Morton "Pura"

Alexis stopped in her tracks when Stas spoke to her. She knew logically he was at least partially right, of course - charging in head-first wouldn't end well, ultimately. But, still, his suggestion just didn't sit right with her.

"With all due respect, sir... are you suggesting we leave the people in there already to fend for themselves? There's at least one Strike Team member there, and they're just C-ranks - they'll be slaughtered..."

Despite her objection, she did as he said, at least for now. After all, he outranked her, and order was what kept this organisation running.

The doctor spotted a pair of new figures, one being Alexis Morton. He had read her file once, and wasn't quite surprised by her apperence at the docks. Listening to Stas and the woman bicker about orders made a part of him inside smile, though exteriorly he was his usual calm collected self. "If it helps, i'm with Stas. We're on a strict mission to surveil, not intervene. It's their problem for getting themselves into the mess." He knew they'd follow his orders, seeing as he outranked both of them quite clearly.

Alexis relaxed slightly when Gareth intervened, reluctantly nodding in agreement. It was a lot easier to make these decisions when someone a lot higher-up and a lot more experienced was making them for her. This, ultimately, was what she thought this city needed - someone to make the hard choices firmly when no-one else would. She still wasn't seeing eye-to-eye with Stas, though, especially after his next suggestion.

"Wait, waiting for the right moment is one thing, but are seriously suggesting that we run away with our tails between our legs? I might not be an X-rank, but at least---"

It was at this point she noticed Ali, one of the C-ranks who'd arrived with them, running towards the combat zone, already over halfway there.

"Oh, shit."

She turned back to Gareth, a slightly guiltly look on her face.

"Sir, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for this."

And with that, she sprinted off towards both Ali and the ash cloud. Not getting involved in a fight was one thing, but letting a C-rank - who for all intents and purposes her responsibility right now - go into danger alone was not something she willing to do, orders be damned.

He was just about to reach him when two GLASS agents blocked him.

"Halt, citizen," said the agent of the right. "This area is restricted. To avoid getting hurt, please back away."

"Wait," said the agent on the left. "I know this guy. I saw him on the STONE side of the Seaport attack. He's one of them!"

The agents raised their guns to fire, but Yolya was too quiet for them. He beated them with his staff, knocking both to the floor.

"I'm sorry," Yolya said to them. Then he yelled, "James!"

He ran at him, but "tripped" over one of the unconsious glass agents He fell dramatically, flailing his arms and trying to attract as much attention as possible. With a snap, James reached out to the metal upon the guards, and he quickly found what he wanted. The pin flew out of a smoke grenade on the agent's belt. James shot Yolya a look that said Run!

(EDIt: as a final clarification James isn't sacraficing himself. GLASS doesn't know what he looks like so to these agents and anyone else in Glass he's a civilian who was caught up in all this and accidentally triggered the grenade, giving Yolya an opportunity to escape)

"Oh god, Booster, I could kiss you right now!" Cinder shouted, her voice muffled and distorted by the mask. She felt stronger than she have ever felt before, and she was drunk on that power. What started out as just a smokescreen became more and more like a storm. More and more ash gathered in the storm becoming dense enough to sting flesh and irritate eyes. She caused random acts of destruction, flipoing over shipping crates using ash constructs and throwing dock workers around. This is usually impossible for her, her ash constructs being as fragile as they are, but Booster gave her powers a nice boost.

She also gained a rather handy new ability. She can now sense people inside her smokescreen, making it very convenient for her. She has no idea if they're friend or foe, but hey, she can always use the excuse of not being able to see through the smoke and ash. Instead of the contious barrage she's been doing she started firing denser and hotter ash bullets to ensure that the bullets explode on impact. Oh man, it looked glorious when it hits someone. "Ooh, we have a newcomer. I shall commend your stupidity." Ella gloated as she fired an explosive ash bullet towards the person.

Gareth rested easy seeing the dispute simmer down, but that quickly dissipated once he saw Ali. He could tell by her expression she clearly wasn't for his orders, and knowing of her mental abilities is what concerned him most.
Quickly turning his head to Stas, who clearly made it clear he wanted to leave, versus Alexis who wanted to leave. And before he could speak his mind, the women were off into the fiery storm of battle. Scowling as he turned back to Stas. "We'll leave. He quickly made his way to the car, typing the text as he went. *Large brawl taking place at the docks. They'll need backup, Stas and myself are leaving the scene. Bet that pleases you... Turning around, Ali saw Alexis following her. Goddamnit. Go back, Alexis. Don't risk your life like this!

Alexis Morton "Pura"

Alexis watched as Ali disappeared into the cloud. Ignoring her warning, she blindly followed her in - if she was going into danger, that's where she was going too.

Her movement slowed as the ash and smoke filled the air, still trying to keep moving in a straight line. Soon enough, it became so thick that she simply couldn't see where she was going at all. Ash buffeting her eyes, she'd lost sight of both Ali and anyone else who was in here, wandering semi-aimlessly in the smoke-storm. Should could hear other people, but it was difficult to tell which direction they were in, and how close they were. This was bad.

And it was about to get worse. Solid lumps of ash suddenly started flying at her, moving fast enough to be pretty dangerous. One hit her straight in her left arm, exploding violently as it did, and another grazed past her ribs, before she could even react. As soon she could, though, she focused on protecting herself, and a field of faint yellow energy surrounded her. The rest of the barrage dissipated harmlessly as it impacted the barrier, the loose ash simply dropping to the ground. It wasn't something she could keep up forever, but it would at least give her some respite.

Connor could feel the adrenaline rush that Cinder was going though, like liquid energy running through her veins. As easy it would be to get caught up in it too, it was important that he didn't. If he didn't control exactly how much he was boosting her powers, things could go pretty wrong - too little, and the merger would end, and too much, and he would risk overcharging and possibly killing them both. Neither was ideal, really.

Still, that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy himself a little...

The Street Outside the Docks

Yolya looked at James. He thought about what he should do in 10 seconds. Should I leave him here or should I take him with me?
He was still thinking when the smoke grenade wore off. A GLASS agent yelled, "STONE!" and began to fire at him. Yolya began to run, but the GLASS agents kept shooting at him.

One bullet hit him in the shoulder, and Yolya fell to the ground. The GLASS agents approached him. One was talking in their communicators, "Sir, we have a STONE agent surrounded. Kill or captured?"

"Kill," said the voice in the communicator. "We already captured so many. This agent has no use for us."

The GLASS agents aimed their guns at Yolya. The GLASS agents didn't notice but Yolya's shoulder was healing. Yolya reached his staff and began to attack. He knocked some members to the ground. A GLASS agent tried to shoot him, but he rolled out of the way. Yolya stood up and the GLASS agents began to shoot. He dodged some, but one hit him in the arm. Yolya was doomed. He couldn't heal two wounds at the same time.

Just then, the walls of the docks collapsed, and a giant wave of smoke rushed out onto the street. Everyone fell to the ground and began to scream. The smoke got in everyone's eyes, including Yolya, and was the most painful thing they ever experienced. It was if Satan managed to open a hole to he'll, and all his smoke rose until he was able to torture the human race. But as Yolya sees it, he already has.
