Jordan chuckled as he heard Asher's comment, taking one last bite of beans before wiping his spoon off and tucking it into his pack. "I mean, I can lay on the blanket and you can lay on me gorgeous. That's perfectly fine with me." Jordan replied, winking at Asher as he shifted a little in place. He was fine with being his blanket and it was the first time he'd been a blanket for anyone, because he never stayed with anyone else. But Jordan wanted to stay with Asher.

That should not have made his heart pound like it did. Asher was joking. Joking? Flirting? He was definitely flirting. They had been flirting for a while now. He accepted that as the truth of the situation. So when he was saying that he would sleep on Jordan, that was just a continuation of the flirting. Right? And Jordan’s response was also just flirting, right? He also cleaned off his spoon and handed it back to Jordan, now very much aware that he probably shouldn’t feel so comfortable putting things back in someone else’s pack. “Oh. Um.” That wink rattled him. That was what he was going to go with. “I mean, the blanket is okay too…” He tried to look away, but he was drawn back to that face. He hated how much he loved Jordan’s face. How much he wanted to touch his hair. How much he really wanted to kiss him again. No, stop that. Stop wanting things you shouldn’t want. Shouldn’t. Right?

Jordan watched Asher, hearing his words and he fought back the frown that tried to creep onto his face. "You can use me or the blanket gorgeous. I don't mind either way." Jordan told him as he grabbed the blanket from his pack and laid it on the ground, before he laid down on it, on his side. He patted the space beside him and smiled. "The blanket's nice and warm." He said, watching Asher with sharp blue-gray eyes. What Jordan really wanted was to kiss him again, hold him close to his chest but he didn't want to make the other man uncomfortable at all.

Asher watched, dumbstruck really. Jordan knew what he was doing, likely because this was how he lived. He traveled. He ate from cans for each meal. He slept on the forest floor wherever he felt like stopping. He went to different cities and hoped that he would not die. It was shocking. Strange. Asher was not sure if this was exactly the lifestyle for him, but for now, it was interesting. Intriguing even. He pushed himself forward and slowly resituated himself until he was beside Jordan. This was another one of those things that should not have made him so nervous. He lowered himself until he was also laying beside him. They had about a foot between them, but he could feel that space. He wanted- no, why- yes, he did. He gulped, and placed a hand down between them. “Thanks for keeping it warm for me.”

Jordan looked at Asher, watching him before he saw him situate himself so he laid down beside Jordan. His sharp blue-gray eyes watched the other as he saw him place a hand down between them. Without thinking, Jordan placed his hand over Asher's and smiled at him. "Of course gorgeous. A warm blanket is much better than the cold forest floor." He said, shifting so he could lay his head down on the folded jacket he was using as a pillow but he didn't move his hand from where he'd placed it over Asher's. "Now.. get some rest for me okay? Let that body rest and heal."

His heart skipped a beat when Jordan placed his hand on his, and Asher didn’t know what to do anymore. His life was so much easier when he was in Pittsburgh and the answer was probably kill or apprehend depending on the situation. Now, he was on a blanket in the forest laying next to the man he saved and who saved him. The man with the handsome face and called him gorgeous. The man who touched that hardened exterior and it dissolved without question. The man who kissed him like he mattered more than he did. Asher’s fingers spread just enough to capture Jordan’s and squeeze tighter. He stared at their hands. Was this for him or was it for everyone else too? His eyes slid up to Jordan’s, and he remembered how much he wanted that kiss again. That was how he hurt himself, knowing that these kisses could be for anyone. So, instead, he halfheartedly nodded. “Yeah, I can try.” He laid his head on his own arm as pillow, and he closed his eyes. And he hoped that he could fall asleep.

Jordan felt the fingers spread and capture his hand. He glanced down at the tight squeeze and then looked at Asher, to see him looking at their hands. His eyes locked onto Asher's when they slid up and his eyes went to the others lips. He wanted to kiss him, badly but he didn't want to make this worse. Though he noticed that when Asher laid down, he didn't move his hand away. It made Jordan's smile widen a little as he too closed his eyes and hoped for a little bit of sleep. The fact that Asher was willing to try and rest made his heart happy as well.

Asher lay there with his eyes shut for a very long time without sleep. He felt like he would never be able to sleep again. It could have been the forest. It could have been the situation. Everything was so different and new. Everything was so strange. He was so confused. He did nothing but be confused anymore. So after a while, he opened his eyes and looked at the man laying beside him in the forest. The one holding his hand. He wanted to ask something. He wanted to find someone who could make his head clear. But Jordan was probably asleep. He shouldn’t. He stared at him for a while before finally quitting and trying to sleep again. He might have slept and he might have drifted.

Jordan did not get a lot of sleep by the time the sun rose. He had several dreams that he couldn’t quite remember but they haunted him at the time. Flashes of silver knives, the sounds of gunshots. By the time the sun was up, and Jordan stirred, the dreams vanished. He looked beside him to see Asher still there. His hand was still with his. A warm smile touched his face as he thought about everything that had happened up to this point. How he’d found Asher was a coincidence but he wouldn’t change it at all.

Exhausted, once he finally did fall asleep, coming out of it was difficult. The sun’s rays were enough to disturb him and bring him out of the deep slumber, but Asher still slept. Restlessly, he rolled away from the bright, unbeknownst to him that he was rolling right into Jordan. He lay on top of Jordan’s arm, shielding his face with his own. When that was not enough, he rolled his head to the side, burying it in the warm and darkness beside him. Again, unknowingly, that warm darkness was Jordan. His shoulder. His neck.

Jordan was awake, and he watched as Asher rolled away from the sun, and right into him. Jordan smiled softly and didn't move as he felt Asher lay on top of his arm. Then his head was rolled to the side and Jordan's eyes widened as he felt Asher bury himself into his shoulder and neck. Jordan didn't move a muscle, not wanting to ruin this peaceful moment.

Too asleep still to know what he had done other than find a newer, comfier position, Asher stayed there for a while. At some point he readjusted even that by rolling onto his side and pushing further into this warm and inviting presence. He wasn’t thinking, because he wasn’t capable of that yet. Had he been awake, he would never have done this. Asleep, he searched for anything comforting in his hard times. Eventually, though, his mind began to awaken. At first, all he knew was that something was there. When he rolled his head, he realized that the something was blocking the light. When he finally opened his eyes, it took several seconds for him to realize what he had done. Moderately mortified, he froze. He wanted to move away, but it was too late. The damage was done. That and he was yet again mesmerized by that face. A handsome face attached to a handsome man that just laid there in the forest with him when he couldn’t move any further.

Jordan wasn't expecting for Asher to roll and push further into him. Not that he minded, but it wasn't expected. He wrapped the arm that had been under Asher around his back. Jordan held Asher until he felt the head roll and then eyes locked onto his. He noticed Asher froze but he smiled warmly. "Good morning gorgeous." Jordan whispered, he couldn't not say anything. This was wonderful to him.

Juggling the warring emotions of wanting and not wanting to be this close was difficult to say the least. Asher felt like a broken record as he had this fight in his mind yet again. “Um. Hi.” He also felt like he was entranced by this disarming charm. Was this how everyone felt around this man? Probably. That was how he got away with so much. He charmed his way through a fighting ring. He charmed his way through torture. What else could he charm his way through? Without thinking, he slowly slid one hand out from where it was hidden and touched Jordan’s face. Sometimes, he did not feel real. This was more like some strange dream that he was having. His fingers combed through that fiery hair. “Morning.”

Jordan chuckled softly, that warm smile on his face. “Hi.” He replied, eyes searching as he looked at Asher. Out of all the people he’d ever known in his entire life, none entranced and captivated him like Asher did. None made him want to move the earth if he was asked to like the man in front of him. He did not know why he felt this way, well actually he did. He was falling for the man currently in his arms. Because he’d draped the other arm over his side as well, holding Asher. His smile brightened as he felt the hand touch his face, the fingers through his hair. “I hope you slept well gorgeous.”

His breath ran from him as he watched the strands of Jordan’s hair slip through his fingers. “I-“ He was lost in the dream somewhere and had to pull himself back out. “I don’t sleep well.” A truthful answer. Even before everything was painful due to the stabbing by his own pupil, he never slept terribly well. It must have had something to do with his unfortunate lifestyle. At any moment, someone could be coming after you. It was hard to leave that mindset. Though he did not believe that Jordan would do that to him, it was what he should expect. Disarming to win a fight, right? This could be a long game. It didn’t make any sense, but his paranoia was worse when he was tired. Except for sometimes when he couldn’t even listen to that with how much he was going to keep staring at that hair. And those eyes. And those lips. This was going to get out of hand again. This was how he let himself get hurt. But it almost felt worth it when he was still in the hazy yet pleasant feeling of the in between of comfortable sleep and comfortable waking. He did not even notice the smile that tugged at his own lips. “And you?”

Jordan loved the feeling of fingers in his hair, and having it be Asher? It made it even better. A frown crossed his face as he heard the others words. Although he smiled again when he noticed the smile on Asher’s face, well, the one threatening to show. “I slept much better than I’ve ever slept.” Jordan replied. It was true, sure once he fell asleep he could sleep for hours, but it was getting asleep and staying that way that was his problem. He wasn’t entirely sure why or when it happened but over the years, he’d had trouble falling asleep. “So gorgeous, would you like some breakfast or should we prepare to keep moving on? Or stay here and cuddle more. I’m personally not opposed to the last idea.” Jordan said with a wink.

Charming. Disarming. He knew how to say all the right things to make Asher feel like he was special. Gorgeous, perhaps. Asher so much wanted to fall for it. He wanted to drink it in and consume it like it was made for him. Just for him. That was how he set himself up for failure. Was it failure if he already knew, though? Was it failure if he knew the outcome currently? Was it really bad to indulge on the journey there? It can’t hurt if he never let it mean anything. It didn’t have to mean anything. They were in the middle of a forest, definitely lost, and he had no where else to be. What was the worst that could happen? “I think..” was he really going to do this? “I would like..” His fingers dug into Jordan’s hair. Pulled him closer until they were so close that their noses touched. When he spoke, their lips brushed. “Breakfast.” He let him go and rolled to the side, stifling a laugh he had not expected. He had not expected anything he just did honestly.

Jordan watched Asher, his eyes scanning the other man. He heard his words, felt those fingers dig into his hair, pulled him close. So close. Their noses touched, their lips brushed together when Asher spoke. A groan slipped from Jordan’s mouth at the last word and seeing Asher let him go and roll to the side. “You little tease. I was hoping for a kiss. But I also cannot let you starve gorgeous.” Jordan replied, as he pushed himself into a sitting position and snagged his pack to grab beans and handing a spoon to Asher.

Despite the fact that this set his heart racing and those words made him want to smile while also at the same time making him horrendously uncomfortable. He didn’t understand this discomfort. He was going to ignore it and eat, and hopefully, that would make everything better. He wished that he could figure out what was happening in his head already, because it was making him cranky with himself. Without actually moving away from him, which meant that he was pretty much attached since he decided to sleep attached, he took the spoon and scooched his legs out of the way. “Maybe, if you play this right, you can have one.”

Jordan noticed that Asher really didn’t move away from him. They were still pretty attached as he looked at Asher when he took the spoon. A smile remained on Jordan’s face as he took a bite from the can of beans. His eyes widened as he heard Asher’s comment and chuckled after the bite. “Oh is that so gorgeous? Because I absolutely wouldn’t say no to a kiss from you.” Jordan replied as he took another bite from the beans. “We should uh, should check your wound too before we get moving today.”

Asher took a large bite and nodded with a grin. “You know, I don’t go around kissing just anyone.” Because he never did that. He’d kissed people before. Twice? Maybe. He honestly couldn’t remember, because they were not terribly memorable moments in his life. He couldn’t even remember who they were. He couldn’t even see their faces anymore. It just wasn’t something he did. He flirted sometimes, especially when out on patrol or when it was between other things. The kind of flirty competition he had with Jordan was not exactly unusual for him though it was unusual for it to be someone he had not known for so long. He took another bite and raised his brows as he looked at his companion.

Jordan took another bite of beans as he heard that. “Really? A handsome man like you? And you don’t kiss anyone. I feel pretty special gorgeous.” Jordan said with a wink as he took a couple more bites of beans. He wiped his spoon clean and tucked it into his pack. “So. Did I earn that kiss yet or do I have to do more to get it?” Jordan asked with a teasing voice. Jordan looked at the sun rising through the trees as he shifted a little in place. “Hopefully we find a town or city today, and it would be even better if they have a map there so I know where we are.”

After eating another spoonful of beans, he also wiped down his spoon and handed it back to Jordan. How was he supposed to answer that? Did he earn a kiss? Um. “How about we see how well you fixed me up and go from there? I might feel generous if I’m sitting with the hero who saved my life.” He shrugged like he was casual. And he almost was. That was shocking too. He shrugged away the jacket and ran a hand over his chest, pausing at the stab wound. It felt much better, but he was also tired. That could have been his horrible sleep, but it also could have been the healing process. Or both. It did hurt. It hurt a lot. It did not hurt like when it happened or before this last sleep.

Right. Jordan looked at him and nodded with a smile. “Of course. Let’s check you out.” Jordan said as he watched Asher shrug off his jacket. “Okay. Let’s see here.” Jordan said softly as he unwrapped and looked at the wound. “Well, the skins healing nicely, and it looks angry but no sign of infection.” Jordan said as he shifted and wrapped it back up. “I wouldn’t bend a lot still but I think we’re past the worst part of it.”
