Asher McCoy
Former Hunter | 29 | Current location ;; Pennsylvania

Asher had been in his fair share of fights. In fact, he frequently got hurt and needed someone to patch him up. He had plenty of people wrap him and check his wounds. Plenty of people did what Jordan was doing, and yet, this felt so different. He didn’t know if he liked or hated that. It continued to make him uncomfortable. He waited until Jordan was finished, focused on every touch and movement. “So you did a good job saving me then.” He meant it to be a question. It was just a statement now. He reached and placed his hand on top of Jordan’s. And just sat there.

Jordan looked at Asher for a moment, hand still on the wrap. “Does that mean I earned my kiss?” Jordan asked, a grin on his face as he shifted that hand to trail up his arm. The hand rested on Asher’s shoulder, and the other one gently landed on his other arm. “Because I have to admit gorgeous, I’ve been really wanting to kiss you again.” He admitted, blue-gray eyes searching Asher with a curious and probably slightly infatuated expression that he couldn’t seem to get off his own face.

Hands on arms and shoulder. Hands that spread warmth across his skin. Asher could control his breathing. He could be a reasonable human. Reasonable and smart and not at all swayed by a handsome face. And an attractive personality. Even if his own hand was already touching the arm that connected them. “Don’t you want to kiss everyone?” he asked. Disarming. He could be disarming. But he was also being dismissive. It couldn’t hurt him if it never meant anything.

Jordan felt the hand touching his arm, and he heard the dismissive tone. “Mm. True. But I’ve never wanted to kiss anyone like I do you.” Jordan replied. The hand on the shoulder slipped up and behind Asher’s neck and head. Fingers pressed into hair. “None have anything on you.” He added before he leaned in and kissed Asher like he’d done before. Deep and intense yet gentle.

Despite this being the subject of their conversation, he was still alarmed. Shocked. Taken by surprise. He was not ready for this intense gesture of affection that he so very much wanted. It could have been sweet that Jordan was almost easing him into it. He might have appreciated that if he weren’t so suddenly and absolutely doing nothing but kissing him. This was such a bad idea. Asher did not want to do this. He should not have been doing this. This wasn’t him. Probably. Or at least this was not the him he thought he knew himself to be. Yet, here he was, taking out the gentle of this kiss and demanding more. He was once a prince who got what he wanted, and he worked so hard to keep that up. Many called him spoiled. Many called him entitled. He probably was both. Right now, he reached for fabric to pull Jordan closer. He almost died earlier. He deserved kisses that took his breath away.

Jordan smiled into the kiss as he felt Asher demand more. He was more than willing to do that, his other hand moving up to cup his cheek. He felt the fingers on fabric, pulling him closer and closer. Their chests were touching at this point. Jordan kissed a lot more intensely as he used the hand on the back of his neck to add pressure into the kiss. This was all he’d ever wanted, and it was also completely new. He’d never felt what he felt towards Asher, not really. Sure he loved people but there was a connection here with him that he didn’t have with others. When Jordan couldn’t breathe, he pulled back slightly, lips still brushing Asher’s as he tried to regain the breath he’d lost. “Well that was worth the wait..”

Worth the wait. “Good.” Asher liked making people wait. He liked being in control of what happened and when it happened. He liked being number one. He liked how Jordan made him feel. Like he was not just special. Like he was not just gorgeous. Like he was not just a prince like his parents used to say. After all this time, it was like he was king. Asher’s eyes were still closed. He could still feel lips on his. The blood pulsed in his own like his heart beat fast. With every touch, it reignited inside him. This must be why Jordan was the way he was. Why not feel this way in every moment he could? “Is it always like that?”

Jordan breathed out a chuckle the words. He could see that Asher’s eyes were still closed. Their lips were still touching as Jordan took a moment to calm his pounding heart. He heard Asher’s question and placed a gentle kiss on his lips, nipping the bottom lip of Asher’s before he pulled away. “Always like what gorgeous? Breath taking? Intense? Wonderful? Because in that case. Yes it is always like that.” Jordan replied, pulling away a little more, their chests no longer touching and he wondered what Asher would do. The other man always surprised Jordan and it made him all the more endearing and interesting to the former smuggler.

So yes, it was always like that. Asher assumed with everyone. He let that sit there for a while. Was it like that when he had previous kisses? No. He would remember that. Wouldn’t he? Maybe he simply did not have the chance to kiss someone who was so experienced. A low hum rumbled through his chest, up his throat, and out his slightly parted lips. “Glad to be of service then.” His mouth curled into a grin before he let himself fall back onto his hands before trying to stand up. “Okay. City. Or town. Or somewhere. With a map. And then off to somewhere.”

Jordan caught that grin and chuckled, a smile on his face. He watched Asher fall back onto his hands and Jordan moved to get to his feet. He stood up and held out a hand. “Would you like some help up?” Jordan asked with that same smile on his face. He was going to offer whatever he could for help. “Then yes. City, town. Somewhere with a map then west.” Jordan said as he stood there, waiting to see if Asher would accept the help.

Asher was torn between not accepting any help because he shouldn’t need it and doing it because he did. He was torn in letting this man get to him, but he already did, didn’t he? Wasn’t this what he was learning right now? Wasn’t that what that kiss really was? Mm but if it was losing control, he was not sure he wanted to keep it. Asher took Jordan’s hand and hauled himself up with help. He winced as he of course managed to move all the wrong muscles. He lifted his other hand to tell him that it was fine and not to make a big deal of it. He did not want someone to pity him. Once standing, he looked down and ran a string of curses around himself. His damn pack was still on the ground. “Could you-“ it hurt to depend on someone else. “Get..” he could not even finish.

Jordan watched as Asher took his hand and hauled himself up. He saw the wince, and then the other hand come up to tell him it was fine. It wasn’t fine clearly but Jordan understood. “See. Soon you’ll back in action.” Jordan said. He noticed Asher look down and heard the curses which made him laugh. He heard his words, heard the pause and the unfinished request. Without a word, Jordan stooped down and snagged the pack but instead of handing it over, he slipped it on his back. He grabbed the blanket and tucked it into his pack which went to sit on his arm and shoulder. Jordan’s arm slipped behind Asher’s back for support. “You ready to get moving?”

No, that was not what Asher was asking, and Jordan knew that. He frowned. “You don’t-“ have to carry his stuff? “I can-“ do this without hurting himself? He groaned, because this was not a battle that he was going to be able to win. He knew it as truth, because Jordan was equally as stubborn as Asher could be. It was why he liked his guy. One of many reasons it seemed. He sighed and then tossed up a hand in defeat. “Yeah, I’m ready. Take me to the west. Whatever is out there. It better be good. I gave up a vault hideout I had to have in secret because my people would probably kill me if they knew for this, you know. “

Jordan shook his head as he heard Asher’s words. He refused to hear anymore, that little grin on his face. “The joy of traveling gorgeous, is you never know what you’ll find. But it cannot be that horrible when you have a traveling companion such as myself.” Jordan said with a grin as he started walking. The trees were thinning an hour into their journey. A small town rose up from the distance. “Well look at what we have here. A small town just for us.” Jordan said, happy there was a town not super far. He needed to replenish his medical supplies and get more bullets plus find a map.

That was ridiculous and Asher still could not argue with it. Instead he decided not to stress and let someone else take the burden from him. He could pretend like it was something that was for him in a way that did not undermine his skills. And maybe it didn’t. It was a battle that he fought for a while as they traveled. He peered at the small town and frowned. “How could that possibly have anything?” He was so used to Pittsburgh, that he had long since forgotten how other places were. Not that he ever went to any of them when he was younger. Or at least not that he could remember.

As Jordan led them towards the town, he bit his lip and chuckled softly. “Gorgeous, you’ve been in the big city for too long. Little towns like this usually have the best supplies.” Jordan commented before he looked around. “Now though, we should be quiet, small towns can either have a lot of infected or very little. It all depends on the town unfortunately.” Jordan told him as they came to the edge of town. “Let’s check this first building.” Jordan’s voice was a whisper now, as he looked around for infected while they moved.

Small towns were better supplied than cities. That seemed unlikely, but he would believe it for now since Jordan was the expert. Infected. He hated infected. He did not have to deal with them too much in Pittsburgh, but they were there. He dealt with more in the past few days with Jordan than he had in the past few years. And now there were more. Great. He leaned his arm over and fished out a few things from his pack he was not allowed to carry. Instead, he started shoving things in his own pockets. He could still be useful.

Jordan noticed Asher lean his arm over and get into his pack. A shake of his head as he sighed quietly. Jordan moved them to the building and looked at Asher. “Stay there. I’ll just duck inside and be right back.” Jordan said, gesturing for Asher to stay put while he moved into the old store. He didn’t see any infected but oh, a map. Nice. One of those old fashioned ones. He tucked that in his pack, along with some beans, a few rags and bottles. He moved into the back and grabbed a crowbar on the ground. Jordan looked around more and found not much else. He moved back to the front towards Asher with a grin. “Next building.” He whispered, moving to be his support again.

If Asher was not aware of how much he needed to be silent, he probably would have caused more of a commotion with Jordan deciding to do everything on his own. He could walk into a building too. Though, walking was a bit painful still. Everything was a bit painful still. Breathing was a bit painful still. So, he waited like a good boy. He waited, frowning and hands over his chest. Waited and then Jordan was back. He was not gone for too long. He leaned against Jordan and nodded. Next building. He would ask what Jordan found when they weren’t out in the open where he could attract literally anyone around. He wondered if there were people. As they moved, he searched for the tell tale signs of traps like they would set back in Pittsburgh.

Jordan felt Asher lean against him as they walked. He caught Asher searching the ground and sighed super softly. He moved his head so his lips were near his ear. “This isn’t Pittsburgh gorgeous, there are no traps.” He whispered before he moved his head away. The next building was a similar single story. He stopped at the door and looked at Asher. A hand up, wait. And he ducked inside. Rags, bottles, beans, and alcohol. Then he was back and ready to walk to the next building.

How did Jordan know? Had he been there before? As Jordan disappeared into the next building, Asher already following when the hand stopped him, Asher groaned and leaned against what used to be a street sign. Fine. He could look the building himself. Asher could wait out here and look around some more. Really, how did he know that no one else was there? What if someone was like Asher and came from a place where traps were the usual? This was the perfect little area to keep for oneself. Asher would do that. Wires that caused explosions or shot something at those who tripped. Cleverly concealed mines. Holes in the floor. The longer he waited, the more Asher was certain that they were going to find something that they were not going to love so much. It may have been paranoia, but he thought perhaps it was a survivalist’s instincts instead.” He put his arm around Jordan and started walking before he knew they were ready to go. “There could be,” he muttered though he was not sure if Jordan would know what he was talking about after so long.

Jordan heard the groan from Asher when he’d stopped him. He looked at the man when he’d come back out. The other already moving as he heard his words. “You’re right, but it’s highly unusual in small towns.” He said with a shrug of his shoulder. He had a feeling that Asher would be like this for longer so he wasn’t sure if he’d ever get the hunter out of him. “I’ve traveled a lot and through many towns, and only two I’ve ever been in used traps. Pittsburgh and whatever town in Massachusetts that Bill lived in.” Jordan added as he came to the next building. This was a two story so he didn’t stop Asher from moving in with him to search.

Asher stepped inside the building and paused at the entrance as he scanned the area. “Bill sounds like the smartest person you’ve ever come across,” he replied before immediately doing what he would have normally done before an injury. What he expected to do was quick movements, walking fast with the quickest scan of the room as he looked for highly specific items or areas that those items might be as well as looking for anything to indicate that this was not a safe area. In actuality, he moved about three feet like that, suddenly couldn’t breath and felt like he just got stabbed again, and shoved a hand to the injury. He muttered many unpleasantries and then slowed down. Fine, he could search like the cripple that he was. It would not, however, make him happy.

Jordan rolled his eyes at the comment. “Bill was paranoid and crazy..” Jordan muttered as he looked around. His eyes immediately went to Asher when he saw the man go three feet then saw his hand go to his injury. “Asher, if you reopen that by doing something you shouldn’t, I will find a way to keep you still until you heal.” Jordan commented, worry and concern in his voice as he moved close to his side. He wasn’t going to stray far from Asher now.

Bill, whoever this man was, may have been paranoid and crazy, but he still sounded like the smartest person Jordan had mentioned so far. He thought about saying something like how Jordan was surrounded by crazy, but he was now too busy grimacing at him about his injury. “What are you going to do to stop me? Strap me down? I’ve gotten out of worse.” He kept walking anyway, though it felt like he was moving so unbelievably slowly. It was hard to focus on anything, so after a moment, he huffed and leaned against a wall. He was not going to be useful anyway. “You go ahead. I’ll stay here. Wait. Maybe.”
