Callum smiled when they all had been caught up, and Callum excused himself to check on his servants. Camilla motioned to sit at one of the tables in the courtyard.

Emmalia smiled and said, "You noticed, didn't you? It's amazing." She was excited to tell Camilla all about it. "I actually give off warmth now, and I can feel warmth, and eat food, and feel the sun on my skin without pain, it's incredible!"

Camilla smiled softly. "That's wonderful Emmalia, I'm happy for you." She said, taking a sip of the tea a butler brought by. "I'm glad you found something that makes you happy. I hope you keep your immortality."

Emmalia nodded, then waited for the butler to leave before saying, "I'm still dead. I still can't have children either, which I think Cal is a bit disappointed by.... But I'm still just so happy. And the only downside we've seen so far is that I can't touch silver."

Camilla waved her hand dismissively. "Cal's always wanted children, ever since he was a kid." Camilla took a sip of her tea before talking again. "The silver thing shouldn't be too bad if you wear gloves."

"I bought gloves to wear all the time," Emmalia said quietly, though she was looking at the table. She still felt bad about not being able to provide Callum with kids, especially not that she knew Callum had always wanted some since he'd been a child.

Camilla looked her up and down with a raised eyebrow. "What wrong?" She asked, stirring her spoon through her tea as she glanced across the table at Emmalia.

Emmalia sighed and decided that she could confide in Camilla. "Well, after the potion and all, we kinda went around and saw what I could do - that I could eat, walk in the sun, feel warmth from a fire, the like. Then I smelled blood and that voice of instinct in my head, the intrusive thoughts, they wouldn't stop. I don't know why it was so bad, like it was reminding me I was still a monster. Then Cal and I.... The next mroning, I realized that we didn't know if I could get pregnant or not and we panicked. He read the book, said that I couldn't, then admitted he had almost been a little excited. But I can't give him a kid. I'm still just a monster, and I can't even think clearly past blood, it seems. I know we could adopt in the future, but it's not the same."

Camilla nodded her head slowly and took a moment to process how to properly respond to Emmalia's delemma. "Well first of all, congratulations on being able to eat food and enjoy sunlight." She motioned to the hat on her head which blocked the sun from getting to her face, combined with an annoyed look. "At this point, I can tell Cal doesn't care what he gets as long as he has you in the end. It doesn't matter if you can't give him kids, he just wants love. As for your blood problem..." She took a second. "I'd simply be careful around blood if I were you."

Emmalia nodded slowly. "I want to give him everything I can. I love him with all I am. And sometimes I feel like he's still concerned about the blood problems. Rightly so, of course, but he's as supportive as anyone could ever possibly be. I don't like having to do things that remind him -or myself - if my diet. Like avoiding hospitals and butchers' shops."

Camilla didn't want to seem like she didn't care, but all she could so was shrug. "Unless you find a better cure for your ailments, you're not going to have much luck in that field. I'd say just keep things safe and you'll be fine. You'll both be fine."

"It was fine, we had a couple of insurgencies here and there but nothing major. Now that the castle is at full strength there shouldn't be many at all." She sighed and looked around the courtyard. "I'm so tired of staring at these stones, I want to go somewhere new and exciting." Camilla then turned to look at Emmalia. "You should come with. A month away from Callum won't hurt."

Emmalia looked at Camilla in surprise - that was a sudden shift. "A whole month? I don't know, I know I'd miss him a lot and he has work to do being back and all...." Maybe it would be nice to get away with a fellow vanpire, though?

"Well yeah. It'd be nice, you could spend some time away from him and get your last little bit of free time before you'll spend the rest of your time at Callum's side as his betrothed. Then, when you come back, you'll be so happy to see him that you'll be extremely grateful to be with him again."

Emmalia chuckled quietly. "I'm extremely grateful to be with him every moment... but maybe you're right. I've never really had a female friend like this before, it might be nice." How would she tell Callum?

Camilla smiled. "Wonderful. Get packed soon, I want to get out of this damned castle as fast as possible." She sipped her tea and stood. "And then we'll be on our merry way."

"Tomorrow morning, please. I'd like to spend at least one night in my bed here with Callum before leaving again." And she'd have to break the news to him too.

Camilla sighed heavily but nodded her head. "I suppose so. But first thing tomorrow morning!" She said, then left the courtyard, leaving Emmalia to herself and her thoughts.

Avoiding the silence, Emmalia immediately found Callum and told him about their plan. "Kind of a celebration before marriage I guess." She still couldn't tell him about camilla'Camilla's vampirism.

Callum raised an eyebrow when he was told the news. "Oh... Well, that's nice of Camilla to take you along. I hope you have fun on your trip." He smiled and kissed Emmalia cheek. "I'm going to miss you terribly though."

Em groaned. "I know, I'm going to miss you too! I almost don't want to leave because i know I'll miss you so badly. I'll write every day, I promise. And I made Camilla promise we wouldn't leave until tomorrow morning, so you and I still have tonight."

Em groaned. "I know, I'm going to miss you too! I almost don't want to leave because i know I'll miss you so badly. I'll write every day, I promise. And I made Camilla promise we wouldn't leave until tomorrow morning, so you and I still have tonight."

Callum smiled and wrapped her in a hug. "I'll make sure to write you back every day as well." He kissed her gently. "What would you like to do on our last night together?"

"Oh, you know, cuddle, kiss, maybe some more...." She giggled and kissed his cheek. "Let's just see how it goes, yeah? No planning allowed."
