Fantasy Generic Fantasy RP (CLOSED)

Callum didn't argue as he sat down on the bed and examined his wound. He contemplated just pulling out the arrow, but figured Emmalia would be better st judging what they should do. He looked around the room silently as he waited for her to get back.

Emmalia returned with bandaging and dressing. She carefully removed his shoulder armor so she could get to the wound. "This will hurt." Very carefully, she pulled the arrow out of his shoulder, then immediately rinsed it with some alcohol and put the dressing over it and started wrapping the bandages. "Sorry you got caught in this."

Callum groaned, but tried to keep in his screaming, partly because he wasn't sure of how well anyone outside could hear them, but also to keep up his manly vibe he hoped he had. Either way, some of his pain was visible on his face. "Don't worry about it."

"I will, it's my fault and you're my fiance." She could see that he was in pain, but she could also see that they were in trouble. "Lover, I think we need a solid plan."

"For what? Our lives could use probably around a hundred plans at this point. But, I think we've been doing pretty well so far by winging it." Callum chuckled lightly. "And you're my fiance, I promised to protect you. Even if it means being the idiot to activate all the traps." He laughed.

"Cal.... don't run around activating traps," she chuckled. "I mean we need a plan to escape, to get past Ander. These tunnels will take us some distance towards the east but not far enough. Should we just make a break for it, or...?"

"Of course, I'm not waiting around to be attacked like a helpless victim. We get as far as possible, and if it comes down to it, I'll try and distract him for as long as possible so you can get away." Callum said with a smile. "We'll be fine."

Emmalia shook her head. "I will not run from him anymore. If I see him again, I...." She shook her head again, a bit more vigorously. This was getting her too riled up, made her too angry.

"You'll what, get captured, tortured and punished for as long as you can bear to have the sanity to endure it?" Callum said, matching her temper. "I'm not sure what's worse - continuing to run from Ander, or to think of what he'd do to you if he got ahold of you again."

Emmalia shook her head solemnly. "No, Cal.... that's not it. If I see him again, I will shred him to pieces and watch him bleed out." What he said was understandable, but she had no intent of ever being captured again. "He wouldn't get ahold of me, I would get ahold of him."

"Can you ensure that? What's changed since the last time you've encountered him? Emmalia, I couldn't live with myself if he managed to get the upper hand on you. I might never be able to find you."

"What is changed is I'm stronger, faster, and not halfway to insanity this time. I escaped once. And I'm not scared of my vampirism this time." Em looked rather distant as she spoke, her voice quiet and dreamy. "And... I have you."

Callum remained silent for a bit, unsure how to respond. "We can't just beat him at combat. We need to think smarter than him, ten steps ahead of anything he'd even dream of. It's not going to be easy."

"Oh, of course. But we don't have any choice." Emmalia was very stoic about the whole thing. They were in a trap, but Ander had never learned that a cornered animal was the most dangerous.

Callum sighed heavily. "So, what is Ander's biggest weakness?" He asked, hoping to find some way to get through and kill Balder before they end up like torture victims. "Perhaps he's rather oblivious to traps? Or gets distracted easily?"

Emmalia sighed and shook her head. "Uh.... he's over confident and underestimates people once he thinks he has them figured out. Rarely stops to reassess...."

"Hmmm..." Callum began, thinking of something. "We could use me as bait. He doesn't know how smart I am, and could easily overestimate me. I could even build him up a bit to make him get more restless."

"And you can't really die.... But I don't know if I like that idea. He wouldn't think it was normal for you to be without me. But I think, right now, you are the intended target...."

"I won't matter if he can't find you. As long as I'm his only target, and you hide well enough, I'll be all he needs and wants to go after. Then, maybe we set a trap, and once he springs it, we can attack."

"Whatever you think is best, just please don't get hurt because of me. Wait until he truly believes he'll win the outcome, I can't have you being a hero to save me." Callum chuckled and gave her a gentle kiss.

"And I won't have you in agony because of him." Her voice was soft and almost meek as she pressed her head against his shoulder. Suddenly she sat bolt upright. "Callum. I know how to tip the scales." She turned to face him and said, "Your ghosts!"

"My... Ghosts?" He asked, not quite understanding. "How could that help at all?" He wasn't sure exactly what she meant by that, but he assumed she could at least give a good idea.

"Well, find one that is willing to help us and ask them to find Ander, or, short of that, since he's gonna be hard to find, give you warning if he's coming or if he's set a trap or something. I-I don't know..."

"I can't just find a ghost in the middle of the forest, Em. They usually hang around where they died at, and I doubt a whole lot of people died in this specific part of the woods. I'll see what I can do though..."
