Emmalia looked at him for a few seconds, then slowly shook her head. "No. It would just be a mess.... but I suppose it would be better, for you, marrying a Lady than a commoner. At least people won't question that." Still, she was hesitant. If they were married, people could see them, and people would notice that she didn't age. The last thing she needed was a mob at her door. And if she revealed that she was alive to her parents, she would be expected to claim the LaFaren throne when her parents died. Then she would be in an even more public position.

"I get that, I get that." Callum said quietly as he began to think. He knew he wanted to be with Emmalia, even if it meant bad publicity or her family hunting him down. Who said they'd stay in the castle? Maybe only a night or two a month at most. Nobody would know where they were - just exploring the land and helping those in need. "I mean... I think it's a worthy risk. If you think so too, that is."

She slowly nodded, then said, "You wouldn't be able to do your fake death, but... would that really be so bad? Having someone else deal with it except for stopping in between adventures and the like...." What was she doing, talking about marriage? She quickly said, "We can just see how it goes. First things first, you reclaiming your throne, and us killing Ander."

Callum nodded his head. "I agree. Get rid of Ander, live in a big fancy castle, and end it with a happily ever after tale." He smiled as he reached over and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "Let's get this stupid ceremony stuff out of the way. I just want a nice warm bed and some warm food. Maybe a companion or a lady to accompany me, but I can totally go without it." He grinned as he stared ahead, knowing they'd soon be at the castle.

Emmalia rolled her eyes. "What lady would accompany you?" She joked, though after she spoke she leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "It's a bit early to be talking about marriage anyway." They hadn't known each other for too long, honestly, and to be married so soon would be strange. Not that she would mind, she did love Callum dearly. But they had bigger problems.

Callum nodded and looked away awkwardly. It was a bit of a rude awakening, considering that they were talking about marriage before they were even officially together. Right now their relationship was up in the air - before, Callum would've liked this freedom and mystery. But now, especially since he needs to keep up the image of a Lord and not some prince, he felt he needed to be much more professional. He was representing the largest military force outside of the High King's rule in the north east. Callum got quiet as he looked ahead and held the reins firmly.

Emmalia looked at Callum curiously. "Cal, that wasn't to say I wouldn't marry you. Just that we both haven't known each other long enough. It's not like I'm saying we don't have a relationship." She wasn't sure why he got quiet, but she assumed that it had something to do with her comment about marriage. They still had things to work through first. Figuring out her immortality problem, for one.

"I'm just... thinking stuff is all." The thought had occurred to him many times that she could simply bite him, and they'd live together forever. Sure, they wouldn't remain lord and lady of a castle for very long in fear of someone finding put about vampirism, but it'd be a delightful time either way. Callum quickly put back on a happy face and said, "We're almost there." Callum left the topic in the dust to be picked up later at another time. He didn't want to talk too heavily about any subject before he had to claim the throne.

Emmalia decided not to push the subject, and rather to simply trust him. "So we are...." She settled back in her seat and looked ahead at the road. Maybe she and Callum could continue this lifestyle while being Lord and Lady - it was better, in her eyes, than many Lords, who were cold and brutal. Even away from their lands, they would be better than a lot of nobles.

Soon the carriage brought them into the gates of the high king's palace. The sun had set past the horizon and the dark haze of the night sky began to show, lit up by flickering stars. Callum put on his helmet and looked around, hoping no one had recognized him just yet. As of right now, the only person they told about Callum was Balder. No one here knew that Callum would be taking the throne today, and he wanted to keep it that way almost as a grand reveal to the high king. The carriage brought them through the streets, then as Callum realized the crowds were getting smaller, he asked, "Should we wait until tomorrow? Maybe stay at an Inn tonight?"

Emmalia hesitated, then said, "We just arrived in a carriage that has a giant chest of gold in it, we'd best announce it sooner than later." Hopefully there wouldn't be too much of a wild reaction. "Maybe we should do the reveal in an audience with the King? More privately...?"

"I agree.' He said. "A lot of people probably still think I'm the brat from a few years ago. A private seeing with the high king would be good. But, how do we get an audience with him? He's a very busy man, and if we say we simply have a surprise for him, I doubt he'll see us."

Emmalia shrugged. "Say it's something regarding Gallium's capture, and it's most urgent - he kinda owes us for turning over Gallium." That answer seemed simple enough - they already knew they were in the King's favor. "Of course, we can't request an audience until morning comes, so we might as well enjoy the night, get some rest in an actual bed, bathe, you know."

Callum nodded his head as he looked around. Their carriage went towards the palaces walls as they strolled through the city that surrounded it. "Should we wait until morning to ask for his hearing to set it up, or should we just wait until tomorrow altogether?" Callum looked up at the stall towers and dome that protruded from the Keep, wondering if he would actually be able to become a Lord without a hitch. With callum's luck though, he doubted this process will go smoothly.

Emmalia shrugged. "It's late. We should just go to bed and deal with it in the morning." She put her hand into his and said, "Unless you have an objection to that plan," Even if he wouldn't admit it, he needed to eat, sleep, and rest. And she would make him, as she knew she could.

"Well..." Callum began, feeling a little odd suddenly. It began to dawn on him that he was such high maintenance compared to her. She barely needed sleep, social interaction or food. Sure, she had to drink blood every now and then, but she was much more autonomous than he was. After a few seconds, he said, "Maybe just something light. I'll eat as you get your bath and then I'll get mine, then we'll go to bed. Deal?"

Emmalia shrugged. "That seems perfectly reasonable to me." They went to the inn and got a room. While Callum ate, Emmalia went to take her bath. With the amount of free time given to her, she could ponder things she hadn't bothered to earlier - her courtship with Callum, her status as a Lady, her parents and potentially having to take up the LaFaren throne.... in honesty she was rather relieved to be out of the bath and facing reality, dressed and brushing her hair as she sat on the bed.

Callum had ate quickly and made sure to give Emmalia ample time to get her bath before taking his. He kept thinking more and more about everything she said, especially about their relationship. Callum never took things for granted anymore, and his fling with Emmalia was something he couldn't desecrate. Not too long later, Callum finished his bath and stepped into their room. "Hello Em." He said quietly and somewhat tiredly as he went over to the bed and laid on one side, looking over at her.

Emmalia turned to look at him. She brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them in a rather child-sized pose. "Something wrong, darling?" She cocked her head to the side. Something seemed a bit off - maybe their discussion earlier had upset him.

"Everything's fine." He said, remaining a stoic expression as he rested on the pillow and looked down at her. Emmalia's sitting position intrigued him - people usually didn't cover themselves up unless they were being insecure. Or cold. He was sure she'd be using the blankets if it were the later, though. "Just a little tired from the ride here is all. Are you alright dearest?" He sat up a hit to look her in the eye, a small smile on his face.

"Just fine," she said as she leaned in to lay against him. "You just aren't as talkative as usual. Have me concerned with all this silence. Have you been thinking about something?" She was rather concerned that he had something he was scared to tell her.

Callum slowly let his arm wrap around her. "As I've said before, I'm tired." He chuckled lightly and kissed the top of her head. He was thinking of all the different things they've talked about, simply trying to decode anything that was hidden behind cryptic words he may have overlooked. Perhaps she was dropping hints that she wanted more from this? He couldn't tell, whether it was because he was crass or her simply not wanting a real relationship, he would never know.

Emmalia smiled softly, then leaned in to kiss him on the lips slowly and gently, yet still with some passion. When she pulled away, she said, "Cal... I know in the cart earlier when we were talking, I said it was a little early to talk about marriage. It's not because I'm opposed to it. I'm just... I feel like maybe there's other things we should take care of first, and if we get married, I don't want it to be because we're scared of not being able to in the future, because we're being rushed into it. And...." She quietly said, "Please don't think that the reason we haven't gotten intimate is because I don't want to go that far with you. It wouldn't be a true relationship worth having if it stopped there. It's merely... things like that - sex and all -, they-they're... they're hard for me." She blushed and looked away from him. After her abuse at Ander's hand, it was hard for her to be comfortable in such situations. It had even been a surprise when their first kiss, which had caught her off-guard, didn't hurt her.

Callum's expression remained unflinching as he listened to her story. He never liked hearing such tragic things happening to such wonderful people, especially Emmalia. He understood that after the hardships she faced, it'd be difficult to perform mundane tasks and activities. "I'm not worried about that level of intimacy. Sure, it'd be nice, but I don't just see you as something to sleep with. I'm here for stability and support." The things she had said were comforting to his worrying mind, something he didn't find too often.

Emmalia smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Okay, good. I just want to let you know, it's not you. It's me." She then carefully nestled down against him and pulled up the blankets. "I'm actually going to sleep tonight, by the way." Not only did she need the sleep, she wanted to sleep next to him - it got annoying staying up sometimes, being alone with her thoughts. There was no way that she would leave him while he slept, even for a moment, so she always stayed.
