Callum smiled softly as he rested on the pillow, his arm wrapped tightly around Emmalia. "Well, everyone needs their beauty sleep.' He kissed the top of her head before closing his eyes. "Goodnight, Emmalia." Callum had remained awake for a while after that, he always had a rough time falling asleep even when he could. When he was with Emmalia though, He always fell asleep sooner or later.

Emmalia had fallen asleep quickly, but she hadn't stayed asleep. A nightmare soon came over her, but this one was distinctly different from any before it. Halfway through the night, she began fidgeting and murmuring things as she slept, then she suddenly screamed and opened her eyes. Not recognizing Callum, she pushed him away and scrambled to stand on the other side of the bed, panting and watching him like he might try to hurt her. Her expression was nothing short of absolute horror and pain.

Callum groaned out as he was woke up by Emmalia's screaming, brought into reality once he was shoved aside. After a dazed moment, he lifted hid head up and looked at her across the room, not quote understanding what was going on. "Emmalia, what's wrong?" He asked as he stood and approached her cautiously. As he got closer, he realized that it could have been a bad dream that was causing Emmalia's actions.

Callum's voice jolted Emmalia back to reality, more or less. The fact that what she had seen and felt was a dream was an utter relief, but no less horrifying. It was also telling, in a way, how her fear had evolved. She stared at him and started crying, then moved forward to hug him tightly. "I'm sorry, I love you, Cal."

Callum held her close, not daring to pull away. He remained silent for a moment, enjoying the peacefulness of the situation after the sudden chaotic wake he had just endured. "I love you too, Em. It's all fine. Everything is fine." He kept her close and decided not to pull away until she wanted to. Callum could've stayed like that forever though, especially if it meant bringing peace of mind to Emmalia. Callum cared more for her than any other person he'd ever come across, unsure why she'd choose him out if every great person there ever was to stay with. Either eay, he wasn't going to give up this chance she had given him.

Em held him for a few more moments before pulling away. Tears were running from her eyes as she sniffed and said, "It was the worst nightmare I've ever had. But if I tell you, I think it might upset you too...." She didn't want him to worry for their safety, but now she was on edge. Normally she didn't believe in dreams being prophetic, but it was hard to think otherwise when she was so terrified.

"Well what happened? Was it about me? Or, us?" He said the last word more quietly, cupping her hands in his. He looked down at her with worry, hating to see Emmalia like this. It tore him up that she was so upset over this. He didn't have too many dreams, much less nightmares, but he understood that they could chill someone to the bone. He guided her back to the bed and laid down, keeping her close to him as he waited for an answer.

Emmalia pressed her forehead against his shoulder and quietly said, "I had to watch Ander kill you. I couldn't do anything, I was chained up." Her head was positioned so she wouldn't - couldn't - meet his eyes. It hadn't occurred to her until then how terrible it would be to lose him. She had gotten used to his company, his warmth, his adorable protectiveness. The thought of losing him, especially having to watch him die, disturbed her deeply. It was even worse to have it be at the hand of Ander, who had taken her last love too; to be dragged back to the same torture as before and have to know that the one person she had cared for was dead.

"Don't worry Em, I'm not going anywhere." He said and kissed her head. "If Alder wants me, I'll just have to make sure I can outsmart him." Callum never believed he was smarter than many others, but when Emmalia was on the line, he could see himself fighting tooth and nail to keep her. Ander wouldn't lay a finger on Emmalia, at least not while Callum was alive and in his way.

Emmalia stayed quiet and hugged him close. Her could be as confident as he wanted, now that she was aware of how much she needed him, she was going to do all she could to protect him. With humans, fierce love could cause foolhardy actions and put many at risk. With a vampire, it was ten-fold. Even aware of that, though, Emmalia knew she would do whatever necessary to keep Callum with her.

Callum kept Emmalia close to him for the rest of the night. He wasn't able to fall back asleep, partly because of the rude awakening and partly because he didn't want her to stay awake without him. He made sure to constantly gave her small shows of affection throughout the night like a kiss on the head or a squeeze of her hand. Callum would reassure her through the night that nothing would happen to them, and even made up a rather intricate story of their future lives together to pass the time.

Emmalia did fall back to sleep at some point. Callum's soothing voice and gentle actions calmed her so much that she hadn't even realised she was drifting off. The nightmare didn't return, rather, her dreams were quiet and calm. On occasion, she would gently squeeze his hand, which she kept in hers. With her knight at her side, it was easy to feel safe.

The next morning, Callum slowly moved away from her and got ready for the day. He equipped himself with his normal gear and robes, finishing off the look with his boots. After he got ready, he slowly leaned over Emmalia and shook her shoulder gently. "Hey Em, it's time to wake up. We've got an important meeting today." He smiled softly, enjoying the sight of sleepy Em. He always enjoyed seeing a cold blooded killer in such a docile state, guard down and resting peacefully.

Emmalia moaned quietly and curled up further under the blankets until she couldn't be seen. "But I don't wanna." She knew she was acting like a child - that was why it was fun.

Cullum chuckled lightly and stood back up, crossing his arms with a bright smile. "Alright, fine. Stay in bed all you want - I guess I'll just go become a Lord on my own then. I'll have to get some drinks on my own, and celebrate on my own, and go to bed on my own since I'll have a new bed in my new Castle." He grinned as he slowly began to walk away, waiting to see if she'd do anything.

Emmalia sat up and mumbled something about him being a prick, and threw a pillow at his head. "You wouldn't dare go without me," she stated as she got out of the bed. "But you're so damn busy you don't have any time to play," she pouted dramatically, though it was clear by her tone that it was all in jest.

Callum had ample time to dodge the pillow, but decided getting hit by it could cause some comedic giggles from Emmalia. He grinned as he watched her get up from bed, and said, "I may not have time to play, but when I do, I play to win." He winked with a chuckle.

Emmalia picked up the pillow, walked right up to him, and started smacking him with it. "Liar." Once she'd had her fun of beating him with the pillow, she went over to her equipment and started getting set up for the day. Which included being completely armed, just in case something possibly went wrong.

Cullum smiled and got the hair out if his face after being beaten with a pillow. When Emmalia turned away after getting her gear, he picked her up from behind and tossed her back into the bed with a chuckle. "No fun huh?" He asked, standing at the edge of the bed.

Emmalia laughed as she was thrown. She rolled over to stand next to him and said with a chuckle, "Okay, you're sometimes fun." She leaned in and kissed his cheek. "Like me, sometimes fun, sometimes serious. Though, you're more fun than me normally."

"Well to be fair, you're a lot more adorable than I am." He smiled and reciprocated the kiss, holding her close to him for a moment. He laughed as he gave her multiple kisses on her cheek, simply trying to mess with her.

Emmalia laughed until she brought her hands up to the side of his face to hold him still, and turned to kiss him on the lips in the hopes of shocking him. After a few moments, she let him go and walked past him just far enough so he couldn't reach her. "I dont know, youre pretty adorable. Now, let's go make you a Lord."

Callum was shocked to say the least. He had enjoyed the kiss up until she pulled away, but the feel of her lips on his lingered long after. He remained in the same spot where she had left him, and only turned to face her after a few moments. "Um... yeah, yeah let's... go make me a king - count - Lord." He corrected himself twice over before grabbing his gear and going out the door before her. "Make sure you take everything, we probably aren't coming back." He stopped and turned to face her. "Oh, and Em, I'll get you back for that." Callum grinned before walking off.

Emmalia smirked and followed. "What, for the kiss, or for calling you adorable?" She took his hand in hers and squeezed it. "You can try getting me back, but I won't make it easy." She kissed his cheek, then acted like she hadn't even broken step next to him. Together, they walked out of the inn and toward the King's castle.

Callum walked beside her rather closely as he always did. One thought was going through his mind - how would Emmalia act around him in public? Before, they couldn't care less. Now, though, since Callum was becoming a Lord and Emmalia would no doubt be questioned, interviewed and talked about as much as him if she chose to truly be his companion. Word could travel West to the LaFaren family where they may find out about her. Either way, Callum decided to let her choose since it was her destiny. If she wanted people to know they were more than ordinary companions or not, it was her call ultimately.
