Emmalia watched Callum expectantly, but when he wouldn't say anything, she just climbed in bed beside him. "Problem with being a vampire, memory's pretty good, especially when triggered by scents. Makes it hard to forget things I'd like to forget." Like her time being tortured by Ander. Oddly enough, the deaths of her adoptive family, holding Peter, dead, to her chest, those memories she wanted to keep - in her mind they were her fault, and to forget those owuld be disrespectful.

Callum remained unmoved for a moment, taking in what she said. He wanted to tell her it wasn't her fault, but he figured it would only bring up bad memories. It's somewhat difficult to approach a situation like this, so instead, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. He closed his eyes and buried his face in her neck, breathing softly against Emmalia. Muffled, Callum spoke. "You're safe here." He wanted to say so much more than that, but nothing else could seem to escape his lips.

Emmalia stiffened against him for a second, then relaxed and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Thank you, darling. With you at my side, I really do feel safe." She moved to kiss the top of his head, then let him cuddle against her again. Normally she was the one to curl up against him, but she didn't overtly mind the change.

Callum couldn't hide the smile he got from hearing her talk. Darling. It was so normal to give each other names like that. However, this wasn't a normal relationship. Emmalia calling him darling was like being in a terrible drama, with actors attempting to be overly romantic without laughing at the sound of their own stupidity. Callum liked it however. It granted them a sort of commonplace, a relative metaphorical location between human and vampire. He held her close and, even though they weren't together in any way, shape or form formally, he reciprocated with, "Have a goodnight, dearest."

Unlike Callum, Emmalia didn't travel to ponder on their relationship. She was just hesitant to go too far too quickly, and he respected that, and that was all. It was honestly very comfortable. The best part was that she didn't feel obligated to wear her mask around him - sometimes she still did, but for the most part, she felt she could be vulnerable around him. Emmalia gave him another kiss on the top of his head, and said, "With you here, I'm sure I will," Before she closed her eyes to sleep.

Later on the next morning, Callum's eyes opened slowly as the sun shone through the window onto his face. He slowly pulled away from Emmalia and sat up, scratching his head. His bedhead was wild and he had a disgruntled look, still tired from yesterday's activities. He put his feet to the ground but remained sitting in bed, looking back at Emmalia as she slept. Callum yawned quietly, beginning to put on his gear for the day.

Emmalia felt the shift of the bed and opened her eyes. Immediately, she almost laughed because of his hair, but she only giggled a little and sat up. Her hair wasn't in much better condition, being frizzy and fluffy. She asked, "Did you sleep well?" Though she assumed he had. It seemed to her like he either slept or didn't sleep - not much in between.

"Yeah, I slept well." He turned around and gave a smile, almost laughing with her. Emmalia's giggle was absolutely mesmerizing. Callum leaned back a bit against her, "How did you sleep Emma?" He asked and looked over at Emmalia. She looked gorgeous with her just-woke-up look, the same look he hoped to see every morning for the rest of his life. Emmalia was in every way a person he could spend his days with, especially when she's sweet and tired when she wakes up. She's a totally different person when she's away from others. When it's just them, her true, more hospitable side shows.

Emmalia wrapped her arms around his waist and grinned. "Pretty well. Old a little nightmare, but I woke up and went back to sleep just fine."She kissed his cheek lightly. Being cute with Callum was something she greatly enjoyed - it was relaxing and made her feel light and happy, not dark and weighed down by her species and occupation. "You're cute in the mornings, did you know that?"

Callum let out a deep but genuine chuckle. "Oh, I'm cute? You should see yourself, Dearest." He put an arm around her and flashed a smile, never wanting the moment to end. The two of them, sarcastically calling each other pet names (even if Callum was saying them not-so-sarcastically,) and messing around. It topped wearing heavy armor and holding up appearances. Emmalia couldn't be more natural for him, she was someone he could see always being by his side.

Emmalia leaned her head in on his shlulder. "I'm glad you think I'm cute. I feel like a mess, but I'm glad you like it." She kissed his cheek and smiled softly. She was still a bit tired, but with the sun being out, there was little chance of her sleeping again. In a whiny child's voice, she said, "Do we really have to go out and deal with Balder today?" Of course they did - but she just felt like being funny.

Callum couldn't hide his smile as he leaned in a bit. "Of course we do, but if you're good I might tale you to see Camilla and get you a pretty dress." He kissed the top of her head before resuming getting dressed, throwing on his boots and standing up slowly. He didn't want to leave, not when a perfectly comfy bed was right there - with Emmalia on it - but they did say to meet Balder at noon. Callum figured the sooner they got this meeting over with, the sooner they could come back.

"Oh, how nice! Maybe I'll get a green one this time," she joked. She got out of bed and starting getting ready for the day, armor and all. She slowly checked over her blade for any blunt spots. Seeing as how they were going to be denying Balder, it would be best to go in well-armed. Who knew if he'd call the Guards on them - and if he did, Emmalia had no plans of their getting caught. She didn't like killing people who were only doing their jobs, but she also didn't like being captured or imprisoned. "We'll just tell Balder we don't fight political fights and get the hell out of there. He might offer us a quest, though. The kind that would surely get us killed. Might send an ambush if we accept...."

Callum nodded his head slowly, walking beside Emmalia as they went towards Balder's castle. Callum didn't want to do anything too extraordinary to Balder, since he was a good Lord after all, but he needed to find a way to decline without getting executed in the process. Callum began to hatch an idea, however, before a smile came to his face. "I'll get Balder off our case."

Emmalia looked over at Callum and raised an eyebrow. "Alright, Mullac." She had to remind him that unless he wanted to reveal who he was, he had to pretend to be called Mullac.

Callum nodded with a small smile as he brought down his helmet once more over his head and went into Balder's castle. Soon, they were standing before his throne in the same spot as the day before. "Ah, and not a minute too late." He smiled softly. "So, I need you to kill my nemesis who might be up to take the throne, Lord -" Balder was cut off, however, before he could finish. Callum spoke deeply but rather happily, saying, "Did you not hear the news, my Lord? Gallium's son has reappeared. Apparently he's on his way to the high king's place as we speak." He looked over to Emmalia, knowing she couldn't see the smile on his face.

There were many times that Emmalia was thankful that she was an actress, and this was one of those times. She almost gasped and laughed at Callum's statement, but she managed to act like it was expected and not surprising. It was one way to get Balder off of their case, and it would make Callum seem like, well, not Callum. If only they had heard who Balder's nemesis, though. Could have been helpful.

Balder seemed almost angry for a split second before a smile resumed on his face. "That's wonderful to hear. I shall send my condolences to him as soon as possible and get on better terms with him." Balder paused for a moment before adding in, "If you two are not too busy, I'd need someone to send Lord Callum a welcome back gift." Once again, it seemed as though he didn't really give them a choice with his tone. Callum smiled brightly under his helmet. "We'd be delighted, My Lord."

A gift? After how Balder had reacted, there had to be a catch. Was it a trap for Callum? Potentially poisoned? It was something, probably... Emmalia remained unmoving and simply watched Balder. She had liked him at one tume, but that was quickly fading, and her hated of nobles was rising. Especially since Callum could potentially be on the receiving end of some nasty foul play.

"Yes, I'll have it ready for you to take to Callum when you are fixing to leave. It won't be much, just a chest full of gold. I don't want him to think I'm trying to poison him or anything. He and I didn't really get off on good terms last time and I wish to make it up to him." Balder rested in his chair for a moment. "Simply come back here to pick up the chest when you leave."

Emmalia nodded and looked to Callum. A chest full of gold.... what would Balder do when he found out that Callum wasn't regaining the throne? Unless Cal had suddenly changed his mind. When would they be leaving, though? She looked over at him, conveying her uncertainty. She was kn no schedule, and was willing to simply follow him.

"We're ready to go now, sir." Callum said abruptly after seeing Emmalia's uncertainty. To this, Balder nodded slowly and awaited the treasure he had asked to be brought up. Soon, three guards dropped a large, heavy chest in front of them, which made a loud thud when it was set down. "I can provide a wagon if needed." Balder said, noticing the struggle the guards had to carrying it. The chest was practically overflowing with gold, and some spilled out into the floor. Callum nodded graciously, and soon they were loading the heavy item into the back of a carriage drawn by a horse. Callum got everything situated before climbing into the drivers seat, grabbing the reins and driving off towards the high king's palace.

Once they were far enough, Emmalia smirked and said, "You didn't lie. Callum is headed toward the king's palace. But..." She looked him over, trying to see past his literal and metaphorical armor, "Did you actually change your mind?" Seeing someone ask for assassin's because of something that could be stopped with a word was enough to change some people's minds. But damn whatever Lords would be saved, Callum needed to choose what would make him happy.

Callum shrugged with a smile, discarding his helmet to be put in the seat beside him. "It'll be a legendary reveal. Everyone will remember the day that Callum arrived to reclaim his rightful throne." He left it at that, resting back in the seat as the horse trotted lazily along. "It'll be a long trip, so get comfortable." Callum seemed to think deeply about something for a moment before his usual smile came back. "The masses will see the coward Callum that left all those years ago, not how I am now."

Why would he say that and grin? "What are you planning...?" She was rather confused by the whole mess, in honesty. But Callum seemed happy, so she couldn't complain. And their constant travel allowed them to muddle any trail they left - it would help keep Ander away.
