Callum squinted at Emmalia, frowning as he looked her over. "It's you! Quick, help me fend of the vampire, it was just here. Look out, remain vigilant, it could be anywhere by now."

Em stared at Callum, then very slowly moved to kneel beside him and carefully took the broken glass from his hand. "Callum, theres nobody here but you and I. Nobody else has been in the room since the Guards left. Theres nothing to be afraid of." Why was he scared of a vampire - especially her? And why had that been the first thing he recognized about her? Was this the poison, or had the Order somehow gotten into his head?

Callum slowly lowered the knife. "Emmalia? You're a vampire?' He asked, looking her over as if he expected to notice something he hadn't before. "Wonderful, how will it look to the commoners when I have to publicly burn my wife?"

Emmalia looked wounded by his words - he had never before cared about her vampirism. Now he just reminded her how inhuman she was, how little she deserved him. But she had to work with his confusion, lest he speak too loudly and somebody overhear. "Cal, why would you burn me? I never said I was a vampire. I'm your wife." She spoke as if the fact that she was his wife negated that she could be a vampire. Maybe he was just rather less than lucid.

Callum seemed to contemplate this new logic presented to him for a bit longer than it should have. Eventually he dropped the glass, which he had cut his hand on, and said quietly, "Then, where is the vampire?"

"There isn't one." Em was very glad that she wasnt under too much stress, becauss smelling his blood could have caused her to snap and go into her super protective mode, and he surely would have called the Guards again and when they would have seen her red eyes? Bod things. She softly said, "I think you just had a bad dream, and confused it for reality. You told me you havent been sleeping well, maybe that was all it was. Now come on, let's bandage up your hand, or call the healer, you need rest."

Callum sighed heavily, using Emmalia's help to get back onto the bed. "It felt so real though... Like I was sleeping next to one of those things." He brought a hand to his head, his words slurring a bit.

Em had to swallow down the pain of being called a "thing", and said, "Does your head hurt? Should I call the healer? If shes out of mana she can summon another from the village I'm sure." She got some bandages out and started wrapping his hand slowly.

"I'll be fine, just a small cut is all." Callum said, watching as Emmalia bandaged his hand. "I must've broke a lot of glass, I've got scars all over me!"

Em looked at Callum in shock for a few moments, then said, "Cal... Look at the scar on your chest. See how that's older than the cut from the glass? You got all these scars when the Order tortured you, remember?"

"The Order didn't torture me," Callum told her. "They helped me! I never realized how much of a menace those monsters could be until they brought it into the light for me. They've saved me from the vampires. I owe them my life. See? A vampire already took one of my fingers."

Em pulled away from him and stared. What had happened...? "Callum. The Order tortured you and I, because you're death's reaper and they didn't like that. Remember? But they didnt believe you? And they thought I was trying to lie and cover for you so they hurt me too? That's why my face is burned...?"

"No, they tortured us because you're a vampire and they thought turned me into one too-" Callum paused, realizing what he just said. Then, after a moment, he cried out, "Vampire!" And went for another glass.

Em grabbed his wrists and wouldnt ket him grab the glass and hurt himself again. Frustrated and concerned, she loudly said, "Callum! Look at me! We have been through this already, I am not letting you cut your hands up again for nothing! You need to calm down and think!"

Callum stared Emmalia in the eyes, thinking for a moment. He slowly relaxed his muscles and leaned back on the bed, bringing a hand to his head. "God's... Everything hurts Em..."

Em relaxed and took a deep breath, hoping his episode was over. She sat beside him and stroked his hair while she softly said, "Shh, its okay, it'll be okay. I love you, Cal, and we're going to get through this together."

Callum slowly rested his head against Emmalia's chest, trying to piece together what had just happened. "I... What happened? What did you do? ...What did I do?" He looked down at his bandaged hand.

Em continued stroking his hair, glad to see that he was coming to himself. "You woke up and started screaming about a vampire. You even called the guards. You broke a glass and threatened me with the glass shards and cut your hand. Then you started saying how the Ordee saved you, how they showed you..." Her voice got quiet, and she continued, "what monsters vampires were. And that vampires took your finger. And you said that you would have to burn me, but then I convinced you I wasnt a vampire and yeah...."

Callum winced as she explained what he had said and done. Why had he acted that way? Was he brainwashed into believing it? Could it have been the poison? He wasn't sure, and the confusion scared him. "I'm sorry Emmalia... I - I don't know what got into me."

"Shh," was her only response as she continued playing with his hair. "Its okay. We will deal with things together. I love you, and we will get through this."

Callum nodded his head slowly, and leaned up to kiss her gently. "I'm sorry... For everything, Emmalia. It's all my fault."

Em kissed him back, but after he spoke, she was worried that he was going to go into another mood swing where he made no sense. "Cal, none of this is your fault at all. If it's anyone's, it's mine, I should have been more careful."

Callum remained silent, keeping to his thoughts as they raced on about what was to happen next. "The Order... How do we stop them? There must be a way."

"I killed a lot of them. Thing is... If they werent such zealots, they would be a decent group. A lot of vampires do go manic. But not all. They hunt other monsters too, and disrupt the natural balance. I hat me to kill them, but... Well, I already took out many of them in this region." Em continued playing with his hair. "You should rest, not be thinking about this stuff."

"No, I'm a warlord. I need to bring peace to my realm through force and might, and that's exactly what I plan on doing." Callum said, sitting up slowly. "Get me a cane, or something."
