Fantasy Generic Fantasy RP (CLOSED)

Em had to stifle a gasp when she saw his missing finger. Her mask hid the distraught expression on her cmface - she felt like she would cry. She glanced down at her finger, which Maven had set, but not healed. Looking back at him ahe felt a tear run down her cheek, especially when she realized how badly she wanted to pull him close and cuddle him, to kiss his cheeks and tell him it was okay. But with the damned mask, she couldnt.

"Emmalia..." Callum called out to her with a groan as the healer began to heal his wound to the best of her ability, which wasn't much - it wasn't easy to treat a wound with such a large surface area. "Come here. I... Want a kiss." He said with gritted teeth.

Em hesitated, then moved so that she could approach from the side so he would only see her good side, and hopefully he wouldn't see the burned half of her face. She took off the mask, then leaned in and kissed him gently and slowly, holding the kiss for quiet a fee moments, pouring out her love and concern for him, before pulling back and putting the mask on again.

Callum had never wanted to embrace Emmalia so badly before in his life. He held onto the kiss for as long as he could, and only wanted more when Emmalia pulled away. He finally registered the mask, and winced as the healer worked on him, before saying, "The mask...?"

Em shook her head just slightly. "Don't worry about it love, just relax and let the healer help you, you really need it." She didn't plan on taking off the mask until the next morning at the earliest.

Callum groaned and reached for her hand. "They took my ring." He said with a raspy voice. "I'm sorry Em, I... Tried to stop them." He groaned out as the pain only seemed to get worse. "I'm sorry. I love you."

Em was initially relieved that he hadn't pushed about the mask, then was heartbroken as he told her about the ring. He seemed more concerned about the ring than the finger they had taken from him. She squeezed his hand and said, "Shh, its okay Cal. They took mine too, there was no way to stop them, it's okay." She looked at the healer, silently questioning why he seemed to be in so much pain.

"There's not much I can do about a severed finger," The healer said apologetically. "I'm trying to do what I can with healing magic but it's taking up a lot of energy and time, I can't heal the rest while I work on his finger." The healer tried to explain, focusing on quelling his pain. "I have a concern, they might have used a weak poison on Callum to weaken him further. It's not deadly but it might have long lasting effects."

Em nodded slowly, then looked back to Callum. She wanted to cuddle with him and never let him go. She very lightly squeezed Callum's good hand instead.

Callum closed his eyes as the procedure went on, still in terrible pain even after she healer had finished working on him. He was much better than before though, resting in bed, unmoving. "Emmalia." He said without opening his eyes, not sure if she was still there or not.

Callum gave her hand a gentle squeeze, his eyes remaining closed. "Thank you for staying with me." He said quietly, his voice low but somewhat back to where it was normally. After a moment he continued. "Are you alright? What did they do to you? I'll kill every last one of them." He began having a coughing fit as he ranted on, having to stop to breathe.

Em wrapped her arm around his shoulders, helping him sit up to cough. She was concerned for why he wasn't opening his eyes. The coughing and difficulty breathing could be any number of things, including that poison. "Love, most of them...." How was she going to explain it? "I killed most of them." She would skip the first part of his question, maybe he'd forget it.

"That's not enough." Callum told her as his coughing slowed a bit. "Emmalia, why do you wear that mask? I've never seen it before." Cal looked up at her eyes, unable to see anything else.

"I escaped when they took me West, and I stole the horse, weapons, and mask from my parents. I didn't wanr them recognizing me if they saw me too soon." She reached over and poured more water for him, assisting him in sitting up again so he could drink.

Callum would've pressed further, but he was feeling rather exhausted after the long week he had been through. He drank the water as much as he could before pulling away. "Thank you." Callum said idly, resting back on the bed.

Em put the glass away, then nodded to the healer, who had finished her work. Alone, Em pulled up some of the softest, most comofrtable blankets they had and put them over Callum, then leaned back to rest. SHe didn't plan on sleeping at least until he did - if she could, she'd stay awake the whole night, just in case he had nightmares.

Callum rested by Emmalia, their bed warm and comfortable for them both. However Callum had a rather difficult time sleeping. He woke up in the middle of the night, unable to get any more sleep. He didn't want to revisit what his mind thought up for him. Meanwhile, Callum looked over at his wife, noticing she was still wearing her mask. He waited a moment to listen to her breathing, before deciding to lift the mask to see under it. When his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he gasped, seeing the side of her face covered in a dark burn scar. He was completely speechless, unable to even fathom the pain she had to have gone through to earn it. After a moment, he shook Emmalia's shoulder. "Em," He said, in a distressed tone. "I need you to wake up."

Em heard the tone in his voice and that registered before anything else. She opened her eyes and blinked a few times as she propped herself up on her elbow, looking for an enemy of any kind, then back at Callum. "Cal, what is it, are you hurting?" While she looked him over, her eyes reached the mask in his hand and her face fell.

Callum looked over Emmalia's face, studying every last part of it. He memorized everything about it before replying, "What happened to you? And why did you hide it from me?"

Em couldn't meet his eyes. She looked down at the pillows and softly said, "Cal, you're hurt so much worse than me. I managed to escape and get at least partially healed, you were stuck with them for much, much longer. I didn't need you worrying, not when you were having trouble just breathing." She didn't want to tell him how it had happened.

Callum remained silent for a moment. "We agreed to tell each other everything." He reminded Emmalia, giving her hand a tight squeeze. "I need to know these things. You need a healer."

Em shook her head and softly said, "Cal, I know we promised but when I found you you were in no condition to be worrying for me. And I don't think you are now. I don't need a healer. I don't think a healer can help anyway." She seemed hesitant, like she had more to say, then quietly added, "Cal, I can't conscientiously tell you my injuries right now. Not when you're in so much pain."

"It hurts me more to think you're in pain as well, and refusing help because of me." Callum spoke quietly, looking into her eyes. "We're getting you a healer first thing in the morning."

"I already had help from one healer, for a different injury." She met his eyes, then looked away. "When I was escaping, I got shot with an arrow in my back. That man who's kind of like you, the one who was thrown through our library wall? He was there and hus friends found me and they did their best to heal me, but I ran away." Carefully she pulled away and pulled up the back of her shirt to show him the fresh scar from the arrow.
