Em had rather given up at that moment, panting as her mind tried to grasp the intense pain she had just felt. When ahe heard Callum scream, she opened her eyes and sat up, pulling on the chains. "Callum!" She screamed, suddenly fighting harder and kicking out at the man who had just finished chaining her. "We've done nothing wrong you gods damned bastard! You can't even get a mage to use a truth spell you unfair, blind madman!"

"It's much more fun this way." The man said plainly with a wicked smile. "You and I have a lot more to go through. I want to know everything - other vampires, monsters, and locations. Who knows you're a vampire?" The man asked, stepping forward after grabbing a pair of large shears. "Anyone aiding vampires needs to be killed as well. And, if you're uncompromising, I can always take that finger away like I promised."

Em, panting, gritted her teeth. "Nobody. Only Callum knows. I kept it a secret to prevent a riot." She didn't see it as a lie, but what aboutit those healers who had helped her? And Camilla? "Also, if I kept it secret, anyone who figured it out I knew was a vampire and would then hunt down and kill."

The man contemplated this for a moment before saying. "I believe you. We'll only kill you and Callum today, then. Starting with Callum." He began to walk away, hoping she would begin to give him more names.

Em knew that Callum couldnt permanently die, but he could be tortured. Suddenly she froze - he had never been tortured before. He was new to the pain and mental manipulation. She said, "Wait! I'll confess something else if you leave him be, at least for now. Give him a break and I will confess something."

The man stopped, and turned to face her, smiling slightly. "Well? Go on then. It better be worthwhile too, or I'll make both of your deaths as painful as possible."

Em looked him in the eyes as best she could with one eye damaged, and said, "I murdered Ander Noxley, the son of the LaFaren secretary. His notebooks are filled with notes on vampirism and experiments on multiple vampires. I know where those notebooks are. There's a mountain of them, he was trying to make immortality for himself. It was his potion that made me this partial vampire. You will never find them without me." Time to see what that would be worth to them.

The man seemed rather impressed with the information. He had heard of Ander, but didn't know he was studying vampires. Eventually he smiled and brought the shears back to her finger. "And where are these notes at?"

Em glared at the man and said, "Half are hidden in Cross castle. Throughout it the entirety of it. The rest are still in Ander's lab, hidden underground in the western forest by a little village without a name by the eastern road. I can't verbally get more specific." Had Callum taken half? Or just a few of the notebooks? Or all of them? She didnt know, but her years or acting saved her from any visible uncertainty.

"You don't know exactly where they are?" He asked, his doubts building on her story. "Fine, fine. We'll use you as bloodhounds to find those notes. If it's what you promised we might keep you alive. If it isn't..." He snipped the shears in his hands twice with a smile, before setting them aside. The other two men in the room stepped forward and unchained her, walking her out of the dungeon and back the same way they came in. Once more they sat her in the carriage with the same number of guards. "Cross Castle first or Anders Lab?" The driver asked.

Em chuckled, then said, "Cross castle is closer, but I dont know where all the books are there. Callum does. He didnt want me finding them again. And while he couldn't tell you where in the west the lab is, I could." She looked at the interrogator and said, "Bring Callum out, and I will cooperate fully, and you can find the books. If I've lied at any point you can kill us both at once - faster that way." She knew she was pushing her luck a lot. They might just put her away and decide to search themselves, or have another team take Callum while she was dragged West. They might not have all the information they needed from Callum yet anyway. But she needed to know that he wouldnt be tortured while she was gone. He couldnt die - what if they buried him? Surely the god of death had a plan for that but it likely wasnt pretty. And if he found out she was dead...? For his sake, she would do her best to survive this.

The men talked to one another in the carriage, before they all nodded and one of them got out of the carriage. A few moments later, he returned, and another carriage was drawn up by theirs. "Take us to Balder's lab." He said, just as a small group of men escorted a hooded person into the other carriage.

Em nodded and said "head on the road west toward the LaFaren estate." But she saw Callum and took her chance, shouting, "Cal I'm okay!" Of course she expected to get hit for speaking, but
she needed to let Callum hear herso he wouldn't worry.

Instantly a guard sat her back against the carriage and slapped Emmalia across her face. "Quiet, you. Or I'll make sure you can't scream." One of then spoke. Meanwhile, Callum began to fight against the guards. "Emmalia!" He called back, his voice hoarse. One of the guards by him punched Cal in the stomach and brought him to his knees, while they took turns punching him in sequence. Although his face couldn't be seen, his hands were bloody and his screams were tired out.

Em growled, but a shudder of pain ran through her body. They had slapped her on the side of her face that was burned, and the pain was almost indescribable. But so was seeing Callum in pain and hearing how bad his voice was. She gritted her teeth and said, "This carriage better be fast, the Western monsters in the swamps like to attack carriages in the hopes of a quick snack." Maybe she could try to spook them. Then she remembered something - they were taking her to her home territory. Not only did she know the land, but she was nobility there. Then again, would anyone recognize her with her face so damaged? And the order traveled too, they probably knew the West as well.

"Shut up girl, don't think you're precious to us just because you know the location of some documents. It's the only reason you're still alive."One man threatened to hit her again, then chuckled. "You'd hope the carriage was fast. If it were slow, it might just give us all enough to have a round with you. Or two." They knew they wouldn't even try to do anything in such a way to such a vile creature, but threatening her would hopefully shut her up.

Em looked the man dead in the eyes and said, "No matter what you do to me, or even threaten to do to me, I have been through it before, and worse." She had wondered how long it would take them to use that threat. But they were adamant that she was a monster, and that was her advantage. "Don't say I didn't warn you of the beasts. Winter is nearing and they shall be hungry."

Eventually, after a long ride, they ended up where Emmalia had told them to go. They had passed many different outposts for the Order, and it was evident their influence was increasing in Trulane. The carriage stopped when she said to, and they got out single file. "Alright, lead the way, bloodhound."

Em glared at the man, then led the way toward where she recalled hunting for rabbits with Callum and stumbling upon the trap door. As desperately as she prayed, the gods did not send a hungry beast to attack them. When she got to the spot she started jumling up and down until suddenly a hollow this was heard, showing that she had found the door. She stepped back and said, "You can only fit a few people down there. The books are under a cabinet near the hallway." Ahe didnt want to go in there, but then again, if ahe didn't, how would the men know it wasnt a trap?

The men nodded, beginning to go down before one of them stopped the others. "Let her go down first. If she trips anything then we won't get killed. Hopefully." He eyes Emmalia and motioned for her to go forward.

Emmalia glared at them. She had absolutely no desire to go back there. But she swallowed the insult she wanted to spit at them, and forced herself down the stairs and into the hall, then into the room. She kept her eyes on the floor - this was all that her time as an actress and a huntress could provide for her, the ability to keep her sanity in the small room, even if she was obviously upset. Thinking on how she had seen Callum, though, she straightened up and moved to the far side, with the torture devices, and put her back to the low table against the wall. She watched the floor, shaking lightly, but managed to get a small knife in her hand and start cutting at the rope on her wrists where the fraying wouldn't be horribly visible.

The Order followed close behind, and looked around the room. "This guy was into some sick shit," One of then said as he read through some of the documents. "But, it's valuable." They began to stuff their packs with the documents and books, not too keen on preserving anything else. One guard kept an eye on Emmalia though, his weapon aimed at her at all times.

Em just stared at the floor, especially after the man made that comment, her only reply being a distant, "Oh, I know," which she figured only added onto the act that she was feeling devastated at the moment. She continued working to cut her bonds, her mind set on escaping before they decided she wasn't needed.

Soon enough they finished raiding the place, and began to make their way out with Emmalia in front. When she wasn't going fast enough, the guard behind her pushed Emmalia, which evidently brought about the realization that her hands weren't tied. The man quickly grabbed her by the arm, and pressed her up against a nearby tree, with the rest swarming around her. "Think you can just escape from us huh? The Order is everywhere, and we have you flagged now. The girl with the scarred face. You won't be able to hide anywhere in Trulane." He pulled her head back by her hair, then pushed it back against the tree.

Em growled, "You won't either once I get free, I swear by the Gods I'm going to hunt you down." They were right, though - they had scarred her pretty horribly, and once the adrenaline wore off, she knew she'd probably realized they likely had scarred her in more ways than physical. But she wasn't going to just give up and die.
