Em held onto him tightly for a few more moments, then let him go. "I know you do. You should go do those things." He had responsibilities that weren't her - it wouldn't be fair if she kept him all day.

Callum, once again, wasn't expecting this outcome. "Well, feel free to join me anytime. I'd love to have a break later today from my work if you'd like to go on a stroll or something." He kissed her cheek before standing up and getting dressed.

Em nodded, wishing he didn't have to leave but understanding that that was his job. She decided that she'd probably join him later, but for now, she'd get dressed and... what? wander the halls? Lay in bed? Neither of those appealed to her.

Callum had left after a few more embraces and kisses. He walked in to his stately office, a high ceiling with stacks of bookshelves on either side. He sat at the desk, sighing heavily as he began the work for the day.

Eventually Em got around to getting up and getting dressed, though she didn't bother to put armor over her clothes. Her burns still hurt, so the less she had to touch, the better. After spending some time in the library, she went to Callum's office and sat down in the edge of his desk, facing him. "Hi there," she said quietly.

Callum was rather frustrated over a dispute he was having with a local Lord to the east, the letter sitting in front of him. But, he seemed to forget entirely about it when Emmalia walked in. "Hello love. Wonderful to see you here." He said, bringing her down for a quick kiss.

Emmalia returned the kiss, then sat back on the edge of the desk again. "It's good to see you too. I hope I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" She didn't want to be a bother.

"Of course not, I'll always have time for you." He said, gently running his hand over hers. "Are you here for a reason or just deciding to visit me?" He asked, putting away the letter without breaking eye contact.

"I'll continue work in a bit. For now, I'd lake to take a break from the stress of leading things." Cal sighed softly, then smiled up at her. "How are you feeling?"

"Fine," she said, despite feeling hollow and bored, but not attracted to the idea of actually doing anything. "Is something going on with another lord?" She tried feigning interest in his work.

"What? No, everything fine. We're loved by all. I even heard rumors of a day being celebrated for our good deeds." Callum said. "A day about you and I, Emmalia. Doesn't it sound grand?"

"I know, but we'll have another." He said, looking over at her. "Are you sure you're alright? You don't seem very... Cheery."

"I'm alright, love." She put her hand over his comfortingly. She had her gloves back on to protect the burns one her hands.

Callum smiled softly up at Emmalia. "I'm glad to hear it. Would you like to go for a walk or something? I know it's rather dull in here."

"I'm fine, but we can go for a walk. You seem like you need to get out of this office." Maybe some fresh air would be good for her, anyway.

Callum nodded as he stood, stretching in the process. "Let us go then." Cal said and began to walk for their garden, holding Emmalia's hand.

Em walked with him, lacing her fingers between his and keeping to his pace. She walked close to him like she did whenever she felt nervous or uncertain and they were travelling.

Cal gave her hand a gentle squeeze and slowed a bit. "Hey, are you alright?" He asked, looking down at her. "You don't seem so happy as you usually are. Are you sure you're okay?"

Em looked up at him and smiled just slightly. "Yeah. Just been feeling a bit... You know, empty. Like nothing preoccupies me, I feel bored but I don't want to do anything."

Callum nodded his head. "I know the feeling. That's basically all I felt like for the few years before we met again, after Balder sent us on that mission together."

"It went away when I saw you again." Callum said quietly, but didn't look down at her. "I hope you can find something that helps yours go away."

Em looked down at the ground again. She didn't want him feeling like she needed someone else, or even something else. "I don't know. Sometimes, I just see that little girl in my head. I don't want to, but I do. I know it wasn't really my fault, but I struggle with it anyway."
