"A... a screwdriver? Hmm.. I don't think.. oh, there's a Mechanic's Lodge less than a mile from here! Wasn't that our next stop."

"Yay, heavy metal objects!"
"I'm pretty sure it was."

"Yeah, we can probably get your scope fixed there, they have tons of tools probably lying around if it wasn't looted. Jeson's friends with the guy who, owned... the place."

Unsure about the state of whoever that acquaintance was, he added a shrug to the statement. Pointing in the direction that they should head, Xi felt something jab at the back of his head, forcing him to turn around in question. Go was jabbing the back of Xi's head with a fairly bored expression, a childish pout on his face.

"Didn't you say we had another task in mind? Y'know, blood over bond?"

"We aren't even related."

"Blood over bond."

Then Cross appeared to finally bring up a point, causing them all to shut up. While Go wasn't as perceptive as the rest, Jeson and Xi were, immediately running off to the side, leaving Go in confusion. A shard of glass spun aimed dead on Cross.

Chess irritatedly bit their thumb, after coming to a reasonably close distance away from their alleyway. Simply by turning around they'd probably be noticable, but the unfamiliarity of the voices that bounced of the walls made them restless. Lowering their voice to barely past a whisper, they responded to Raymond's statement.

"Red-head just really loves a good fight, he's too stupid to think past that. Dandelion is too nice for his own good, so there always could be the possibility that they're giving off supplies or getting mugged or something...

.... change of plans."

Again, the worst could always come to worst, and that was the only thing that Chess could see from it. Looking around them, the numerous buildings that towered high above their heads made them feel small. Apartments seemed shattered and sections of buildings were cracked or merely crumbled. However, like the cafe, remnants of what used to be clean glass windows were punctured, leaving scatters fragments of broken glass among the ground. Carefully picking one of them up, Chess could only view the people that their group had spoken to as threats, not even Viper seemed like someone that they could trust.

"... you should lay low."

Without any explanation, Chess took a brief step away from the cover of the building in gaze of the alleyway. Looking over the faces that were there iver the span of a second, they saw one large, masked face they didn't recognize. Smoothly propelling the sharp, jagged object through the air, while socializing may not be something Chess could do, aiming definitely was. The moment it left their hand, Chess quickly made a turn back towards Raymond and darted back around the building. Surely whoever it was was bound to try and chase after them, at least in Chess' perspective. There was copper piping that ran up the side of the building, and Chess grabbed onto it, climbing their way up. Reaching a window that, while not exactly open, had a shattered surface with remains of dried blood among the glass, Chess nimbly climbed their way through, using the bottom of their feet as some leverage to push the broken glass out of the way to avoid getting cut. Unholstering their weapon, they ran to the other side that the room was in and looked down to examine the situation in place.

@FireMaiden @Baku @AceOfSpades0210 (confused: throws glass, runs to building, climbs up and through window, looks down on other window to see where cross is so they can figure out how to move next)
"Well shit.." Raymond hissed, unaware of Chess' plans of throwing the glass at one of the strangers. He would stay there in that corner, but their attention would have already been in this direction. "At least tell me the plan." A low growl as Chess ran by to scale the building, Ray ran back down the alley they came from to find cover. Getting away from that entrance, seeing as how it was the most likely to be searched first.

Exiting out on the other street, blades still drawn, he continued to run the street parallel of the one the larger group was currently in. If anything, he'd get out of Chess' way and approach from the other side. From the alleys he passed by, Raymond was able to get glimpses of the strange figures with the other three. A much larger armored figure, and a female who's voice he was able to distinguish earlier. His footsteps nearly inaudible as he took each step, Ray was soon able to get towards the end opposite of Chess, and peer around the corner behind Cross. The other three should be able to see him now, or at least a glimpse of his silver hair around the building.

"Hey Chess- bye Chess!"

"Are you kidding me.."

"U-um, yeah, they usually are! We've had plenty of bad experiences, and they're not really the most social person... so.. uh.. this may take a while.."

The fact that Cross dodged was impressive, thugh perhaps it was the fact he had enhanced skills due to the nature of himself? As well as it being a rather quiet, "open" area, so seeing something coming your way must have been mich more obvious than most, so it probably wasn't Chess' wisest move. Nonetheless, it appeared that it was in their beliefs that this would've been a group of bandits themselves, Viper and the heavily armoured man. They could easily take out the lot of them, probably. What came into the edge of their vision appeared to be locks of silver hair, and squinting a little, it appeared to be the young man that they had approached earlier. Frantically waving his hands up, Xi tried to alert him, and possibly Chess if they had heard, that there wasn't a threat/

"W-wait, hold on! They're nice-"
"Probably." "Shut up! They're nice! It's fine!"

While Xi was frantically trying to put down the situation, Jeson looked around for where Chess had gone. Walking to the edge of the alleyway where they saw Chess flee, Jeson scanned the area, confused to where they must have gone.

"Huh."

Chess ducked back down from the window. Maybe it would have been a better choice to explain the plan, but as long as their group found time to use to run, than it would be okay. Ducking back from the window, they carefully took their sniper from their back. Quickly loading it with a few "clacks", the muffled shouting of who seemed to be Xi flew right by their ears. Spinning back around to look towards the window, the scope of their sniper set back towards Cross, who appeared to be unsheathing his own weapon. Their hand on the trigger was motionless, though if there were any ill-intended movements, they didn't hesitate to shoot at the man. Wherever Raymond had gone, they did feel some slight tinge of guilt for taking action. But he could take care of himself, it was whether or not Chess
believed that they could save their own group here. Cross' intimidating appearance with heavily armoured features made them feel anxious on whether or not even their own skill would even help them out here. But with him kin the radius of their scope, Chess swallowed back any lingering thoughts of kindness that could have been there.

"Eh, nice he says..?" Raymond mutters to himself around the corner, ducking deeper into cover in hopes that Cross hadn't spotted him like Xi and Go had. His blades at the ready, his face was scrunched against the wall to get a glimpse of what was occuring on the street. "Wait for a gunshot from Chess.. that's all you gotta do Ray.." The fists around the blade tightened as he took in a deep breath.

It's been quite some time since he's had to kill other living people. This would be the first of his attempts to fight someone in a suit of armor, however. Which made him quite curious. An armor in this day and age, where running from infected was much more viable from fighting. But he's one to talk, using blades instead of a gun in this era was much more dangerous. Scoffing at his own thought, he chuckled lightly and focused back onto the situation at hand.

Gale wasn't really paying attention to what was going on, she was just trying to figure out if the screw would stay in place long enough. Without this screw, she wouldn't be able to move her arm. She decided that she'd stay out of the fighting for the time being.

"N-n-n.."

"Oh, Chess's a girl. She's awfully picky about how she's referred to though. Some whole tragic backstory shit. It's why we use they all the time."

"Y-yeah..."

Seeming to lose his sense of composure, his cheeks flushed as he frantically tried to gain it back, gesturing his hands in a way that would emphasize Go's point. He didn't want either of them to fight, but he seemed to be realizing the weight of his actions by letting more people enter their group. Go's hand rested on the hilt of the sword he recieved from a dojo years ago, a triumphant expression on his face, not able to comprehend the full weight of what was happening at the time.

"Oh, boy! Are we finally fighting!?"

"No we're not! Go stop, no!"

Jeson looked back from where he stood in the alleyway, seeing the event fall into some sort of entropy. With a strained smile, he clapped his hands together a few times, as if to gain the attention of Cross, stiffened with the hostile air, and the bickering duo ahead.

"You realize, you're making this situation worst for all of us by having blades drawn. Looking the way you do now is already condescending, love."

Implying for him to lower his weapon, or at least re-sheath it, Jeson looked around the environment. It was a narrow alleyway, though from what he could tell, Xi took notice to someone else who may have been a potential threat. But by being on the side defending Cross, perhaps the man was acquainted with Chess, or at least came into (surprising) social contact with? Maybe it was another raider, who knows...

... and then they heard a shot.

It was hard to hear what they were talking about from afar, all they could see was the figure seeming to tense around the shoulers, as if preparing himself for what's to come. From the position in their posture and the way they stood, the best place to shoot would have been a small area of the carotid sinus. Re-positioning their aim there, Chess only had to wait for the man to either move, make any sort of movement in their position already, to simply tighten their grip and pull down on the trigger. With the figure already armed, there was no telling what he was able to do at least the few levels that he was underneath. While making sure to keep the position of their sniper, Chess briefly tore their head away to look at the ends of both alleyways. The height gave them a reasonable amount of visual distance, so on one end, they saw Jeson, while on the other, they believed it was Raymond who was carefully positioning himself, his blades safely drawn. And yet, even having blades drawn would be a disadvantage with the avalibility of a gun. Breathing out a huff of air through their nose, they set themselves back to the scope.

Hopefully it would be alright for the two of them, because there's no way that the figure was going to get out of their line of sight. But considering how they only had a gun with them, they had to be careful not to endanger the lives of the rest of their group. But he had every single opportunity that he could to endanger them now. Chess quickly re-aimed their scope, for a tendom that should have been located down by their extremeties. If they're expecting something, a sniper should have aimed higher up towards the head. At least attempt to cripple them and give some time to run. Tightening their grip on the trigger, Chess fired straight towards the tendom, a muffled
bang would ring out as the bullet propelled itself straight towards one of the man's tendons. The moment that they fired, Chess made sure that there glock was closeby if they needed to have some sort of semi-rapid fire weapon. Pushing themselves away from the window that they were at, Chess ducked back into the building, running up to a higher level to scout out for another window to use in order to change position.

"There it is!" Raymond barked out to himself, dashing out of the alley and along the wall of the building. Gravel crunching beneath his feet, Ray quickly closed the gap between them in mere seconds. Swords drawn and at his side, with the one overhand with left underhand, he drew close to Cross before bringing his right hand in front of him for a swing of his blade. His eyes watched for the reactions of the other three males carefully, and hopefully this distraction gave them time to get away from the situation.

Raymond would halt mid-swipe, blade stopping at the neck of the stranger, tip barely touching the figure's (skin? Armor?). "He handed his weapon over? Not an enemy?" The thought rushed through his head, but his face held a determination to strike down his foe. He waited for the others to try something, or even Chess to fire again at the figure's unmoving target of a body.

"Woohoo! Now I c-?!?"

At the sound of a gunshot, Xi immediately plucked Go off from the ground and ran to the alley. But rather than completely bolting, he went straight to the building that he heard the direction of the shot from, where Chess was aiming from.

"Sorry gonna check something out I'll be back don't kill anyone he's nice I swear!"

While Xi was carrying a struggling Go out of the scene to avoid causing any more catastrophe, Jeson simply leaned down a little to catch the blade, careful not to cut his own hand. Fumbling about with it for a few seconds, he heard the battle-cry of someone's voice he found a little familiar, before the quick blur of a man with silver hair raced towards Cross, ready to strike. It seems his advice came a little too late, not sure how to respond. The bullet that just sore down was embedded into the pavement, slight cracks branching out from where it was struck, as if like branches among the pavement. The silver man's blade seemed to stop mid-slash, coming to the realization that he wasn't a threat.

"Oh, thank goodness. Yeah, we were just, talking really. I'm surprised to see you... er... cooperating with a friend of ours..."

Was he just dragged into this mess? He very much could have just left right there, and Chess most likely would have been alright with him disagreeing to come. Chess had tried to cut themselves away from everyone, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise, really. It would be what they wanted. However, from the looks of it, the timed sniper shot and his cry heavily implied they had at least roughly organized something within that period of time that the group had lost them.

@Baku @AceOfSpade0210

Once Chess made it to the next level, they moved their sniper back out towards the window, quickly aiming at Cross once again. Raymond seemed to be slashing him at point-blank, though...either it was rested against his neck, or he stopped swinging? Confused, their scope found itself setting straight at Cross once again, though Raymond's lack of reaction made them nervous. Did he realize something? Is Cross someone that he knew? Perhaps they were negotiating? Was he going to turn his back on them? Numerous of ill-intended thoughts ran through their head, and they were unsure whether the short acquaintanceship that they had established meant anything. Ready to pull down on the trigger, Chess felt something warm grab onto their shoulder. Their first reaction was to grab the wrist connected to said hand, flinging them hard out of the open window, regardless of who it was.

"F-fuck!"

Desperate to stay on, Go managed to grab the small, metal part of the window that extended outwards, where plant's could have been placed outside of the window. Struggling to keep his grip, Chess spun around to see a confused Xi a fair bit behind, both of their hands up. Though unlike Chess' usual nonchalance, they spoke frantically, their delusions getting the best of them.

"What did that thing tell you?!"

"W-what thing?"

"That thing!"

Aiming their glock up at their own teammate, Xi looked as if he were going to cry, frantically shaking his head and hands and refusal.

"N-no, Cross is fine! He's nice..."
"And you decided to let more people come with us?!"

Chess... couldn't stay angry at their own teammembers for very long. They've been through so much, and at this point, Chess understood the kind-hearted nature of Xi to a point where it bothered them. Groaning, they reholstered their gun and their sniper, though nothing wiped the sheer look of irritation on their face. Relieved that they finally put their weapons away, Xi rushed past them to help a struggling Go climb back through the window. Leaving them in the building for now, Chess' heart was racing faster now than it was earlier, whether or not it was even worth heading back down for. Perhaps he truly was a threat, and they were simply planning for Chess' death due to their overly perceptive nature. Loot the arsenal that they have now, and whatever food, and then kill off the rest of the group. Maybe Raymond knew those people, which was why he stopped. An uncomfortable chill ran down their spine as they left the building, but refused to turn the corner to the alleyway they all stood...

... until Xi gave them that "fatherly go-get-em-kiddo" push, out to the open where they could see, a heavily annoyed expression on their face as Chess refused to make any eye contact to either of them.

As Chess walked out of the building to the two figures standing there, Ray would be unmoving with his blade stopped at the neck of the larger male. "Do you know this guy?! The one with my blade at his neck." His face was curled into a snarl, blade poking ever so slightly at the words 'blade' and 'neck'. "He gave his weapon to that one." His eyes were locked on Cross, but his head tilted towards Jeson. "So from what I can see, he's unarmed and surrenduring." That hadn't stopped Raymon however, as he seemed ever so focused to impale Cross.

Mismatched eyes glared at the experiment, unblinking with one silver blade continuing to prod at normally soft flesh beneath the neck. Ray wasn't sure why he didn't finish him now, an individual they considered hostile up until the other three had told him to stop. But they had no jurisdiction over him, so why listen? They were strangers, perhaps even conspiring against him. "What now, Chess..?" Doubts filled his head about the situation, strangers here and there, easily able to surround him in an instant, yet his trust went to the quiet female that had accompanied him.

Cross was not in a good mood as of now. Every time he tried to talk to anyone it ended with someone trying to kill him. "I honestly mean no harm. "Eh, well that makes two of us pal." Raymond responded quickly after Cross had finished, blade held steady but unmoving as he further assessed whether Cross was a threat. "They don't take kindly to strangers. I don't take kindly to strangers. And I'm not sure about her," tilting his head towards the other female in the group (@FireMaiden yours, but her name slips past me at the moment), "but strangers are a difficult thing to trust nowadays. You know what they say.. stranger danger." The blade in his hand tightened, pressing on his neck for a second before moving back an inch or so to give minor distance.

Unlike what Xi must have been intending, which was for Chess to deliver some sort of apology, Chess simply re-drew their glock, aiming it back towards Cross. They trusted their aim enough to hit right at the center of their neck, where the cartoid artery should have been. Their hold was firm, and it seemed like Xi made an attempt to tell Chess to stop, before Go would quickly cover over his mouth with his hand, quickly dragging him away from the drama. If anything, Go sure as hell didn't want to interrupt and make the scene even worst, Chess was already under the misconception of the man's purpose. Without faltering their gaze, their tone was littered with ire.

"I need a name, purpose, what you're armed with, and what experimental facility you came from."

It was obvious, at least to Chess. Down with the Syndicate, word spread over the usage of experimental soldiers to save them from the apocalypse traveled quickly before the place was completely run over. Everything spread down there, the worst things of the worst, whether it be the maltreatment of other people, human trafficking, black-market auctions, the latest missions and how people dealt with them, poisonings... stuff that no kid should really grow up around hearing. And with a father as the head of it all, there wasn't exactly a choice. Unfortunately for them, these
projects was one of the top things that they talked about, potentially knocking off certain enhancements and using them for the red-market surgeries, and other terrible means. The world was a dark place, and this apocalypse didn't make it all that much darker for Chess.

"I don't like aberrations like you coming in and parasitically freeloading me. Just as it's easy as me to shoot, anyone else can easily concoct bullshit like that. You say you mean no harm, but the moment that Raymond let's you go, no one can determine whether or not you will pivot yourself and hurt him instead. And I rather not take that risk."

Chess bluntly spoke out what they thought, their expression unreadable. He may state that he isn't a threat, but anyone can say that, and that's the threat of it. If he truly did not mean any harm, that Chess would be glad to let him, go. But he was physically much more capable than they were, and much more than Raymond was as well, so if the moment that they let their guard down, the risk of attack would be insanely high. The worst case scenario was always the first case scenario, at least to them, and thoughts of any sort of escape swam around their head. Is this simply a lose-lose situation regardless of whether or not he says he's innocent? He needs to find some way to prove that he's not going to be a threat, since just saying it seemed to absolutely nothing to free Chess of their apparition.

"Your mistake for not treating me like a bandit. I'd be much more comforted knowing you are a threat instead of being held at an impasse."

"It's Viper," Gale said with a sigh. "Also, am I really the only one who can see Cross isn't a threat? If he was going to kill us, we'd be dead as shit right now." The short girl stated, as she ran a hand through her hair.

Cross hated the word aberration. Just another word to say he was below human. "I would advise to hold the insults back. And which Facility I came from is gone along with the people who forced me into the experiment. And my purpose is to find the Last swordsman."

Nikki just nodded" okay hope they won't be much I will watch your back" she say looking at her as she was following her as she looked around to make sure there was no more zombies she really hoped there was not too much zombies in the lobby" alright thanks" she told her" please no hoard in lobby please be our lucky day" she say @Mitchs98
Sera Lightbane

Sera sighed, she hoped there weren't that many. The one thing about working alone is you only have to worry about yourself. Now she understood why several survivors she met did, it was to much stress to worry about others to. But, it was to late now, and if it wasn't for this girl they'd both be dead. Soon enough they reached the lobby door, Sera quietly opened it to peak out. And, sure enough, there was a small hoard of around 15 zombies. Nothing nearly as big as she was expecting, but still troublesome. "
There's about..fifteen of them. Get ready, we're going to have to kill a few." She whispered. "Once we get outta here camp isn't too far. Stick close and we'll make it out." She added. With that she shoved the door open and quickly fired two bursts at the back of the nearest zombies' head putting it down. Of course, that alerted the shambling hoard over to them though. "Come on lets go!" She shouted, firing at the hoard and starting to run for the door, knocking down zombies where possible and shooting at others. She had little time to confirm the majority of her kills, her focus on getting her and Nikki out alive.

"Swordsmen.. funny term." Raymond stated, but the look of seriousness on his face expressed no humor. "As you can see, I'm a swordsmen. But clearly I'm not the last. You're a swordsmen as well, if your weapon proves anything. So is Red Hair right here." He didn't know it for a fact, but the sword at Go's hip should be some indication.

Raymond then looked at Viper, turning his head away from Cross. He looked at her with disbelief, mouth agape as if he were speechless. "I'm surprised you've lived this long without being deceived and killed. Easily giving trust to a stranger, you must live in a fantasy." Sarcasm filled his tone, turning back to Cross with a loud sigh.

@Entarriance @FireMaiden @Baku (sorry, I keep forgetting to tag you all in my posts. Bare with me for three more hours, I could pay attention much more after then.)

"Forced... ah, that's why I can't recognize you. You're a defect. Shame."

Spitting out the words crudely, Chess roughly shoved their gun back in it's holster. Shutting their eyes as they sighed, Chess averted their gaze back towards Jeson, fiddling around with the sword that he was unsure with what to do. Cocking their head in Cross' direction, Chess spoke with a tone of mocking.

"Raymond, you can let him go. He doesn't deserve an honourable death."

With the mentioning of his hair, at least, Go quickly waved back and forth. He sure wasn't the last swordsman, and while he was particularly good with how to use a sword, having to have grown up with it, it's not like he was the best. Everyone has their flaws, and he had to embrace that.

"It's Go."
"Mmhmm!"

Xi was still under Go's hold, struggling to break out of the small 5'3 grasp. While he definitely taller, Go was much stronger than the 3 of them, easily able to hold down Xi's struggling self, who desired to help deal with the situation.

"A world where strangers can trust each other is a world too reverie for me."

Leaving the conversation at that, Chess was off on their own again, turning their back on the alleyway and leaving to go back to the street. The mechanical lodge that Xi had referred to was a place that Chess found themselves visiting every once in a while before the apocalypse, not because they needed something, but mainly because it was the only place that Jeson saw Chess being able to go to without leaving right away. And it was, the numerous metallic objects fascinated them as a child, and at least hit some sort of soft spot in their heart. Whether or not Raymond or the rest of their group followed, it was up to them, though Chess deplored either Cross or Viper coming./ Not like they were bad people, though there was no reason for them to trust them. Raymond, wasn't as bad, as he at least demonstrated he was capable of fighting and cooperating in a fight. Viper already ticked a nerve with her, and Cross already disturbed them.

Going the other way, Go shortly followed behind while picking up Xi, much to his denial. Squirming violently, he carried him parallel to the ground as he ran after, making sure that if he struggled enough, it would be obvious that he'd hit the ground head-first, which then left Jeson behind. Calmly making his way over to Cross, he handed the sword to him after he was realeased.

"... this is yours."

"I've had to trust strangers my whole life, this, it's no different," Gale said with a cold tone. She wasn't lying, unlike most people who were in the military, she didn't get to know any of them, her father said don't get attached cause then you nm ugh be the reason they die. She sighed, "Well, Jeson, if you would lead the way."

Another sigh escaped his lips, and the blades withdrew from the reach of Cross' vulnerability to be sheathed into their leather casing. "A shame, really. I've only heard the squirms of the undead for a few weeks now. Those are nothing compared to the screams of other people." Ray sounded disappointed, a tone that would sound insane if it weren't for the era they were all in now.

"Right. Chess is that one," tilting his head towards her walking away, "Go is the angry one.." then looking at Xi and Jeson, his lips puckering slightly in thought before heading in the same direction as Chess. "I'll learn your names later." It now seemed that Raymond was tagging along with the four of his own decision, curious himself when he made that choice. The blades at his side clinking together slightly as he strode over to follow behind the group of four.

Viper and Cross, he could care less if they followed, but he was wary of their presence. Althought he had turned his back to the two, his ears still trained on any sounds they made, from the gravel at their feet to the sound of their breathing. His hearing wasn't acute, but it was useful. Until they turned the corner, his wariness hardly waned.
