When you can, you need to get Enemy Within. It adds a new resource, 2 new classes, a new enemy faction, and several aliens. We also need to play multiplayer.

Oh I'm not really sure. Quite far? Dunno. I've passed the alien base quite a long time ago, and also discovered the alien commander. Aaaand the hyper communications thingy. Not sure.

You may want to go through the game a couple times before trying the Long War. That mod will destroy you, even on easy.
